Printed pages do not align

I am using a technical drawing program called SmartDraw to produce line drawings. A typical drawing, when printed out on my HPDeskjet F2280, using A4 paper, takes up four sheets of A4 paper.
The problem is that when I assemble the pages to make up the complete drawing, I find that some lines do not match up.
There are clear discrepencies of up to 4 millimetres which makes it impossible to assemble an accurate drawing.
The problem must be with the printer rather than the software.
Does anyone know if this can be solved?

You're printing in-house two-sided on a desktop printer, right? The misalignment you see is on spread that consist of one side on one piece of paper and tthe other side on a different sheet of paper after the printing and assembly is finished, is that correct also?
If so, there's not much you can do about it other than adjust your design, which is not a good solution it the job is ultimately destined for commercial printing. Desktop printers typically have front-to-back and sheet-to-sheet registration tolerances on the order of plus-or-minus 1/16 inch which means the total drift vertically or horizontally can be as much as 1/8 inch between successive sides or succesive sheets, and it won't necessarily be consistent from sheet to sheet. For desktop output I tend to use larger margins to disguise the drift, and I usually don't us automatic duplexing (but some machines are better than others, so it depends on the equipment), and feed from whichever tray, including the bypass tray if available, seems to give the best registration results.

    She went back to see if it was added and now there are 2 invoice nou2019s are 502780 and 502781?
    and its exactly the same..the customer, items, total,s etc.
    It seems very strange.
    I didn't see anything on the forums thats exactly like that
    Any help will be appreciated.
    Thanks
    Jerusha

    Hi guys,
    I am helping Jerusha at this client, maybe I can give some extra info which may help.
    The add-on in question does not affect the sales invoice in any way, so I doubt it is that.
    It is set to automatic printing for A/R Invoices in the Print Preferences, could it be something to do with that?
    Thanks

  • The printed page could not be ended

    One of our customers are running 8.8 PL06. When a user try to print multiple checks at once, they get The printed page could not be ended. If they print one at a time it works fine. I looked into forum and help but no luck. Is it a bug on this patch? If so, i can advise customer to upgrade to 8.81. Please advise.

    How,
    It could be due to bug. However, first make sure the page setting is correct.

  • Saving as a PDF in print page order [not actual page order]?!?!

    Hiya,
    I've got a 20 page newsletter, each page A4, all created in InDesign CS3 [nice and simple]. I want to print the document in print page order [as appose to actual page order] on our printer here at work, because it's clever and can fold and staple to create a book/newsletter etc! In InDesign, I can obviously use the 'print booklet' option to do just this, and it works great; all my pages are printed in the correct order, I can also choose to print 2-sided, all lovely. But I was wondering if there is an option somewhere to be able to save my InDesign doc as a PDF in print page order [front with back, page 2 with 19 etc] - as printing a PDF of my artwork seems to solve a problem i was having in the thread I posted up yesterday.
    Cheers guys

    This is called "imposition". Does your OS and InDesign version come with the "Print as Booklet" option?
    If not, you can enter this range into the page number "Range" box on exporting:
    20,1,2,19,18,3,4,17,16,5,6,15,14,7,8,13,12,9-11
    (Typed from memory; -- please check)
    If I then print this PDF to my HP with the options "double sided" and "2 pages per sheet", it comes out exactly the way it should.
    (Waiting for the printer ... hold on.)
    Well whaddoyouknow -- I got the numbering right first time. Perfect!

  • Shortkey apple p (print page) does not function anymore

    All of the sudden the print page short-key (apple -P) stopped functioning. only a small beep is heard.
    in keyboard setting it is not found, if added is still only gives the small beep.
    even re-installing leopard does not help.
    it is very annoying to alwals have to go to archive window to print
    how knows how to solve this.

    I would suggest resetting PRAM
    It might help - it might not - but it is a start:
    ■ Shut down your computer. Turn the computer back on and immediately hold down Command-Option-P-R, continuing to press until you hear the startup sound for the second time. This resets the computer’s parameter random-access memory (PRAM).
    IMPORTANT: Resetting PRAM may change some system settings and preferences. Use System Preferences to restore your settings.
    Reinstalling is almost never a solution for these things.

  • Printed material does not align as I want

    I'm not sure whether this is printer problem or if I've not set something up correctly-
    I typed a letter on WordPad with a left alignment. But when I printed it, sentences
    were broken up with 2 or 3 words of the sentence finishing
    on the
    next line. It was like that
    the whole
    way through.
         Sort of like
    this and
    then the sentence might finish here.
    Hope someone understands what I mean.
    Thank you for any help!

    hello,

    how is the printer connected to your computer???

  • HI, when i now hook up my A510 camera to the computer, the scan to printer page does not show

    My A510 camera does not come up on my computer so I can save and print.

    I assume you're using Windows?  Is it XP, 7? 8?
    Here's previous advice given by Richard, a Canon product export, that might apply:
    This sounds like the driver for your camera is corrupted.  You should be able to resolve this by removing, then reinstalling the driver.
    With your camera connected and turned on in the playback mode:
    1-  Right-Click on "Computer" (in the menu) and choose "Properties".
    2-  In the upper left-hand corner, click on the "Device Manager" link.
    3-  Once in Device Manager, find the "Portable Devices" group and click on the "+" sign in front of it.
    4-  If you see your PowerShot camera listed, right-click on it and choose "Uninstall" and allow the "uninstall" to proceed.
    5-  Now turn the camera off. Wait a few seconds and then turn your camera on.

  • Printing 4 up 6x9 pages on 11x17 and not aligning up

    Trying to print 4up 6x9 pages on 11 x 17 paper duplex. Indesign layout is exacetly the same for all the pages. When I print the odd page is not aligned up with the even page. Example the header and bottom page number doesn't align up with the side of the page.
    I even printed one page first and feed it back in the printer to print the next page. It's close but still off a little bit.
    Can someone tell me if I'm missing something here or what my layout is not setup.
    I appreciate it.
    Thank you.
    Aloha

    While Eugen is coorect about what I'm asking, his solution may not work on every printer. Even relatively expensive commercial printers like the Minolta BizHub series and similar products from other vendors don't have the same sort of sheet-to-sheet tolerance for alignment that yo will find with a printing press because they use differnt technology for moving the paper through the machine.
    It's not unusual to see drift through a long run of up to 3mm or .125 inch overall acros both the length and the width of the page when working with digital printing equipment. In general that's within the machine tolerance specifications (+/- 1.5 mm) for page-to-page registration, and the only thing you can do is design to account for the possibility and use margins large enough to hide a discrepancy.

  • Printing page selection

    My Apple Macbook Pro's (Intel) 'Print Page' does not allow me to select non-successive pages for printing on my Brother printers, whereas my Dell PC allows it. Brother says to contact Apple. How do I get the right Presets or Apple software or PPD?

  • Will not having any ink in the color cartage cause the printer to fail the alignment test.

    Will not having any ink in the color cartage cause the printer to fail the alignment test.

    Hi,
    Yes. Usually the printer uses a combination of black and colour blocks to perform an aligment.  The specific patterns differ from printer to printer but the pattern is either read by an internal sensor or you have to take the page and put it on the scanner to scan the alignment page in some all-in-one printers.

  • Margin settings not holding on printed page and are jagged

    A few days ago, on occasion only, printer began issuing paper jam message when printed page was all but a probably 1/8" already out.  Just touching paper really brought the page out the rest of the way.
    I did pull out the two-sided paper accessory to look for any paper, but there is no paper jam that I can see.
    Also, in the midst of printing sometimes it made a loud grinding (I guess) sound, but kept on printing and sent the page out completely.
    Then I began to notice the left margin might slope inward as I look down the page or it may be different from one Word page to another and a little blurring occurs in a word here and there.
    Finally, upon printing Excel pages I see a different left margin about what I consider to be every 2 lines.  This, of course, affects the right margin in the same manor, and the vertical cell lines also vary according to the variance of the left margin.
    The HP software tells me there are no updates for me to download.  However, I don't know that it has ever mentioned any.  I haven't seen this precise issue listed.
    This question was solved.

    Yay!  Smooth margins!  At first I mistakenly thought (without looking) the cord would not reach an outlet; so I downloaded the HP Scan and Print Doctor.  It told me there was a newer driver.  I admit I eventually found myself at a point where it wanted me to "install" as if the printer was being newly associated with my computer.  I paused and thought because I hadn't expected a new driver to want me to do a complete re-install.   I decided I should just try printing again, and magically it gave me perfect alignment.  So I stopped right there.  I had used the  recommended assisted download.  Perhaps I should have switched to the plain download.  While I'm not sure exactly what happened, it appears to be nicely fixed.
    I thank you very much!  I'd not have figured that out on my own.

  • Page not aligning correctly

    Could someone take a look at my page at http://www.meadowlarkco.com/services2.php The image of the two guys and the section to the right are not aligning correctly. Im not sure if I accidentally removed a margin setting or not? But something is off which is making the two sections not aligned horizontally correct.
    If someone could take a look I'd really appreciate it
    thanks

    Try changing this:
    .splash .splashcontentright {
    float: right;
    border-left-style: solid;
    height: 400px;
    width: 300px;
    border-left-width: medium;
    To this:
    .splash .splashcontentright {
    float: right;
    width: 300px;
    margin-top:13px;
    Incidentally, borders don't work unless you apply all 3 attributes: width | style | color
    Example:  border: 3px solid #000;
    Explicit height values on containers should be avoided.  It limits how much content your divisions can hold. The default height value of any container is auto (determined by content).  If required to reveal a background-image, use min-height instead of height.

  • Must I print out a new Alignment Page with each new cartridge?

    Do I need to print out a new Alignment Page with each new cartridge I install on my HP Photosmart C4480?  Or can I save and reuse the initial one I got when first installing my printer cartridges?  The Alignment pages all seem to be identical   when I print them out with each new cartridge I install, but I'm not examining them with a microscope.
    If I can save and reuse the Alignment page with sucessive cartridge replacements, when I am following the procedure for installing a new cartridge and the printer prompts me to print out a new Alignment page, is there an option to skip that step?  I don't recall seeing that option on the control panel window on the printer.
    Thank you!

    YOU DO NOT NEED A NEW ALIGNMENT PAGE EVERY TIME YOU INSTALL A NEW CARTRIDGE
    I registered just to respond to this
    The alignment pages all look the same because they are all the same, pretty sure its a scam to let you use ink.  [snip]
    I am pretty sure you do not understand what the alignment page is for - it provides information for alignment of black vs. color and also is used to calibrate the operating energy for the color cartridge.
    You may be able to "fool" the printer by reusing an old alignment page, but the quality will suffer as you will not be running at the optimum energy.
    You are certainly free to do what you want with your printer but please do not mislead others with misinformation.

  • Week No. on new P45 forms does not align and prints outside the ...

    The new P45 sapscript (HR_GB_P45_A4_D & HR_GB_P45_A4) does not align the Week number within the box of the pre-printed HMRC stationery. The week number appears on all three forms (1/1A, 2 and 3), being page 1,2 and 3 of the sapscript, and all are printed out of their appropriate box.
    Has anyone else encountered this problem ?.
    I can correct this as we currently use a Z version of the sapscript. I have checked the Z version (a recent copy) of the SAP original sapscript to ensure that the original will also have a mis-alignment, which it does. However, despite changing this I would still like SAP to correct their mistakes. I must admit I am VERY surprised that nobody else has encountered this problem as any week number being displayed on either the HR_GB_P45_A4 or HR_GB_P45_A4_D form will not align correctly.

    P45 form printing to tray 1,2, and 3.
    On a slightly related subject we occassionally find that our lexmark three bin printer seems to forget it's bin setup and every now and then the pages will come out on the wrong HMRC pre-printer stationey. We have double-checked the paper loaded and we ONLY have the P45 form 1/1A in try 1, form 2 in tray 2 and form 3 in tray 3. However, despite this it still occassionally goes wrong, with the form 1 and 2 printing to tray 2 and form 3 printing to tray 3. This normally happens after a long weekend, so I don't know whether this is a printer driver caching problem or suchlike. Has anyone had any similar problems?.
