Printed pages don't scale properly in Acrobat Pro 9.1.1

Hello all. When I print from Acrobat Pro 9.1.1 using these settings......
Document Properties:
     PDF version: 1.4
     Dimensions: 20.88 x 11
Application: Indesign CS3 (printing from Acrobat, this is what was used to create the pdf document)
Page Setup:
     1. Paper Size: Tabloid
     2. Orientation: Landscape
Print:
     Copies and Pages
          1. Fit to Printable Area / Shrink to Printable Area
          2. Auto Rotate and Center is checked
     Layout
          1. Border: None
          2. Two Sided: Short Edge Binding
All other settings are default.
........My printed page is cut off on the left and right edges. Basically, the Fit to Printable Area, and/or Shrink to Printable Area option is not working properly.
This just started happening about one or two weeks ago. Does this timeline coincide with the release of the 9.1.1 update?
Has anyone else had similar problems? I am printing to an HP Color Laser Jet 5550dn.

Do you suppose repairing Permissions would fix it?
Also running a utility called applejack might fix.
Google AppleJack and download the correct version for your OSX.
Install. The restart in Single User Mode (unix). type applejack at the prompt (blinking square Cursor).
follow each of the choices as listed note 3&4 you run for system then for each User.
when finish follow directions to quit and reboot.
If it remove a whole bunch of cache files and others, you Mac will take a long time to get started  (has to recreate new clean cache files). You might even see for a few seconds  the dreaded blue screen . Even you Dock items Icons for Hard drive and Main menu will be rebuilt as loading of any control panels.
One re booted try to print you document. see what happens.
Cache files are netorious for becomeing corrupt and causing Strange problems.

How can I regain my missing bits please.

What Mac model do you have? You might be able to upgrade the OS to Tiger 10.4 or Leopard 10.5.
Even browsers for Tiger 10.4 will get the update message.
You could try a newer browser than Safari, which is obsolete, by downloading Firefox v2.0.0.20 at http://www.oldapps.com/mac/firefox.php

  • Print multiple PDFs from Windows Explorer causes Acrobat Pro 9.4 crash

I sometimes need to create a batch of PDFs independently, after which it suits me to print them all as a single job. FYI I am running Acrobat Pro 9.4 under Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit.
The sequence of the problem as follows:
    - With Acrobat closed, I go to the directory containing my multiple PDF files using Windows Explorer.
    - I highlight between three and six PDF docs (each individual doc is small, one page, black and white only).
    - I use the "Print" option made available within Windows Explorer.
It's clear that the system then tries to use Acrobat to print these docs, however I consistently get the same behaviour - some print, some do not, but on every occasion I receive the error "Adobe Acrobat 9.4 has stopped working".
Any ideas? Annoying for a paid-for piece of pro software although, granted, not on a level with famine in the third world it would be nice to have all the functionalities working correctly. If it helps my machine spec is below.
    Thanks,
    Alastair
    SPEC:
    Dual Xeon workstation
24Gb RAM (of which 22GB available at time of error)
    Disk 1TB (RAID10) of which 920GB free
    Windows 9 Ultimate 64bit
    Acrobat Pro ver 9.4.1

It may partly be a 64-bit issue since AA is apparently a 32-bit application that can run in the 64-bit environment (not that familiar with 64-bit systems, so I may not be stating it correctly. However, I would start by going to the Control Panel>Programs and Features and do a repair on your Acrobat installation. That will hopefully resolve the issue.

  • Large images not displaying properly in Acrobat Pro 9

When creating PDF documents from any software (Illustrator, Corel, InDesign, etc), color objects over 50% of the page size have white fill. If object has an outline, the outline will appear normally, but the fill will be white. I've searched forums everywhere and have found no answer. Most forum topics on this are issue focus on settings in the program that exported the PDF. I am 99% sure this is not an export problem, but is something in Acrobat itself (a missed setting? Corrupt program file?)
To provide the best information, I've done a little scientific research. Here is what I know:
    Currently running Acrobat Pro 9.5.5
This is only happening on ONE install of Acrobat 9. Documents display correctly in Reader X and in Acrobat 9 on other machines.
Started happening a few weeks ago, I have no idea what changed.
"Show Large Images" in preferences dialog is checked. Unchecking it and rechecking it does nothing.
Have installed all available updates to the software
I experimented with different object sizes. At 50% of page size, objects appeared normal, at 51% filled object disappears.
Does not affect photos, only affects vector objects.
I welcome all ideas to fix this.
ALSO - Am running this on Windows Vista 64 Bit

Hello? Is there nobody in the Adobe universe that has an actual solution to my problem?
Other things I've tried to solve this:
    repair the install.
    uninstall and reinstall
    cuss at the computer
    throw a tantrum.
I will pay someone a whole dollar for a solution that works.

  • How to print to PDF using HP Laserjet 4100 & Acrobat Pro 8.1.1.?

Since updating system to 10.5, the Print to PDF feature does not seem to work anymore.
Have reinstalled software. Downloaded the Acrobat 8 Pro Patch, but it doesn't recognize the installed software, so I can't upgrade what's on my system.
Printer reaction is a pause. What to do???

First your not uptodate Acrobat and Reader of that vintage last update was 8.1.3.
Next: Go to Printer Utility and remove AdobePDF Print Driver.
Then open Raeder or Acrobat and go to Help Menu.
scroll down to Repair-Replace. Click on the AdobePdf printer only. and run
now try to create a PDF. If works Its fixed.
If not try repair permissions with Disk Utility. Se if works now.
If not go to web Browser and look for AppleJack a low level Repair Utility, down load, install. (download version for your System OSX.3, OSX.4, OSX.5, etc.)
Next go into Single User Mode and after B&W screen comes up and you have a Blinking Block cursor. Type applejack.
Run each option in order. not on several you run for system , then User.
Some items take a long time to complete. especial when repair in low level files systems
after last item has been run follow instructions to quit and reboot.
note: after this run and you boot computer has to rebuild clean cache file and may take a while to boot up. seeing the winder, blue screen, and even rebulding of Dock and Main menu.
Once complete. Computer should for a time run much faster.
Now try to create a PDF and see what happens.
If that doesn't work you may have to uninstall and reinstall and run all updates before doing anything.
If none of this works. Come back and let us know

  • How to: Rotate pages from Portrait to Landscape using Acrobat Pro XI?

As title states need to know how to do this on a multi-page document.
E.g. out of a 10 page document, pages 4-7 need to be changed from portrait to landscape.  Note must keep the document scaling once pages 4-7 are changed to landscape.
Tried Tool > Rotate and it does not work.  Rotating 90 degrees or 180 degrees do not present the document in landscape format. Researching the forums does not provide a solution.
Can someone help provide specific steps for Acrobat Pro XI?  Thanks!

Never heard of a this issue. Perhaps we are expecting different things. Here is a portrait page:
and I apply Rotate Clockwise 90 degrees. Here is the result:
Document scaling is preserved. (Of course 180 degrees does not change to portrait, but it makes it upside down).
This to me has worked as expected. Were you expecting something different? For example, were you expecting the effect you would have in Word if you changed page setup from portrait to landscape, where the contents would not rotate, but would reformat to fit the new page - which certainly isn't what happens in PDF.

  • Printer spooler error when attempting to install Acrobat Pro (also Reader)

I tried to install the trial version of Acrobat Pro today.  Installation would not complete due to an inability to stop the print spooler.
After this failure to install, I was no longer able to access my printer via the previously installed Acrobat Reader.  I uninstalled Reader and attempted to reinstall it, only to discover the same print spooler problem.  Neither program will now install.
I am running the latest version of Windows 8.  Can anybody help?

    Back with more information.
After rebooting I successfully installed Acrobat Reader XI and established that it could contact the printer.
I then tried to install the trial version of Acrobat Pro XI.  The procedure was slightly different this time, as this time it went via Adobe Creative Cloud, but the installation failed.

  • Safari printing page orientation and scale defaults changed

Until recently, Safari defaulted to portrait and 100% scaling when printing. I had occasion to print a particular page LANDSCAPE and 70% scale which was successful. Now that has become the new default and I am unable to change it. This affects Safari only.
Searching for help, I've seen this problem referenced in older versions and it was suggested to either change the values in com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs or to delete it altogether. I looked for the equivalent values in my file but couldn't find anything similar to what had been suggested. I then backed up the file and deleted it. No joy. The file is restored but problem persists.
My Safari version is Version 4.0.5 (5531.22.7). I just recently upgraded to that but don't know if that is relevant to my problem.
    Any help appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Jack

    You're welcome.
    . I don't have a com.nameofyourprinter.plist file (should I? I'm using a Canon MP530),
Actually it depends on how long it's been since you last connected the printer to your Mac. Anytime you print from your Mac a new prefererence file (.plist) is created in your home folder/Library/Preferences.
Where I said...nameofyourprinter at the time I didn't know the manufacture of your printer. If you aren't sure how to locate .plist files, check out my short video.

    Thank you for the star!

  • Some pages don't render properly after Java update for OSX 10.6.8

I can't seem to get T-mobile.com's website pages to render properly anymore. So far, this is the only website I'm having this issue with, though there could be more I'm not aware of.
I go to www.t-mobile.com and this is what I get:
I think I might be missing a plug-in, but not sure; if so, I don't know which one or how to get it.
This only started happening after the latest Java update for OSX 10.6.8, which I installed on Feb. 24, 2013. All of T-mobile's pages look like this, except if I go to www.my.t-mobile.com's home page. Then I get a normal page, but after I log in, I get more wierd rendering issues again. So here's the page that appeared normal today:
And after I log in successfully, I'm back to the wierd rendering issues again:
I was so lost but then I decided to try a work around to get my online bill and managed to get it, but I don't want to see the pages like this. So help please?

So, here's more on my point...
I put in the 3 captured screen shots in my original post above. I used Grab to copy the web pages, saved them to my desktop as .tiff files and dropped them in for others to view. This morning, I went to look at my post and instead of seeing the screen shots, I see 3 tiny blue boxes with question marks. When I left click on the boxes, nothing happens. When I right click on them, I get options that are not helpful:
    Open Image in New Window
    Open Image in New Tab
    Copy Image Address
    Import Image
    Capture Selection from Screen
Convert Selected Traditional Chinese Text (why the frack is this an option?)
Convert Selected Simplified Chinese Text (or this an option?)
I checked my Safari Preferences and I see I have checked, under Security, Enable plug-ins, Enable Java, Enable JavaScript.I have to have Java enabled to run a few things.
Did something get corrupted in Safari?
    Am I'm missing some plug-ins?
How do I get them back?
I'm going to search the internet. Well, after doing the search, I still don't think I've got what I need. Thinking I might need to reinstall Safari. If this is the case, will I loose all my Bookmarks?

  • Visio 2007 saved as WEB page don't scale correctly in Internet Explorer 11

For many years I've been working With Visio 2007 files and saving them as web pages. My customers have then been using the HTML Versions in their versions of Internet Explorer. This has worked fine until IE 11.
Now the scaling don't work as it used to. The Picture is smaller now when loading the HTML Version and it doesn't scale to a larger or smaller picture

    Hi,
Please try the "Emulation Document mode 9 or previous version" to check the Visio web pages.
    Click F12>Click ctrl+8>Choose Document mode
If it displays correctly, the issue may be caused by the compatibility and some CSS properties were not supported in IE11.
Thus, I recommend you upgrade the Visio to a new version or edit the Visio 2007 webpage
through HTML before we view in the IE11.

  • Converting MSWord to PDF - some pages don't convert properly or are missing info

For example, one of the MSWord pages has a clipart over which we inserted a text box. The text does not show up after saving as pdf... just the blank clip art. Is there a setting that needs to be changed? I am using Adobe Standard 9.2.0 with MSWord 2012.

What OS? How did you do the conversion? MSWord 2012 must be a beta version and that may be the issue. There are 3 basic ways to get a PDF from a WORD document. In WORD you select the Acrobat menu and then use create PDF (this is PDF Maker). You can also set the preferences that are used. However, you probably can not use that with your current version of Acrobat. WORD 2010 requires AAX for this feature.
The second method for conversion by Acrobat is to print to the Adobe PDF printer. Again, you can adjust properties in the printer properties menu. The last method is to use the WORD plugin from MS to get the PDF.
Each method has it's own issues. However, we have no clue what you tried to do. It sounds like you were trying to use some transparency and that may be the issue.

  • Web pages don't render properly no matter which Web browser I'm using

I've run across a very curious issue - Web pages do not render correctly in either Internet Explorer (version 8, 9, 10, 11 - I've tried them all) or Firefox (latest version).
If I visit a Web page that contains a commenting system (Disqus, Facebook, etc.) none of the comments are displayed. Moreover, I've noticed that none of the Greasemonkey extensions (all JavaScript) that I've installed in Firefox run, either. I don't expect
an answer to the Greasemonkey extensions issue, but I think it helps to shed light on the overarching issue. Something seems to be blocking JavaScript but I can't figure out what it might be.
I've a Windows 7 Pro box with both IE and Firefox as well, and everything works fine on it - all Web pages render correctly.
    I'd greatly appreciate any suggestions.
    Thanks.

    Hi,
The suggestion provided by Dan Randolph is worthy to try.
I also suspect this could be css conflict issue.
Would you please try the compatible mode or lower document mode in IE 11 for testing?
Manage Internet Explorer 11 compatibility using document modes
    http://technet.microsoft.com/library/dn321432.aspx
Try F12 IE developer tool to debug the part of load CSS.
In addition, you may try to create a new user account for test. If it works, please refer to fix a corrupted user profile.
    Fix a corrupted user profile
    http://windows.microsoft.com/en-US/windows7/fix-a-corrupted-user-profile
If creating a new profile doesn't help, it's probably an issue with that browser, you may check the Add-ons and IE Security zone settings.
Meanwhile, I would like to share the link below with you:

  • Buttons created in InDesign don't display properly in Acrobat DC

I am having issues with how buttons created in InDesign CC (2014) and exported to interactive PDF display in Acrobat DC. These buttons use transparent layers and effects such as drop shadow. The buttons displayed great in Acrobat XI.
    Acrobat XI:
    Acrobat DC:
The buttons used a transparent white layer to simulate glare. As you can see, it comes out black in DC! The drop shadow has added white coloring knocking the buttons out from the background instead of blending nicely. I can avoid using these styling methods in future projects, but this project has used these buttons for several years, and now several years worth of PDFs won't display correctly for anyone who updates to DC!

I am also having problems.  Upgraded to Acrobat DC.  I use a Mac (latest software)
When I export from InDesign CC to Acrobat DC the interactive elements - especially buttons - go cranky.  I get a strange smudgy kind of drop shadow but in a variety of colours behind the arrows, buttons etc.  All very strange.  It gets worse if I apply a drop shadow and bevel and emboss to the button (even a home made button rather than one of the sample buttons).
I'm currently working away from home and so can't try any other computer.
    Strange.
