Printed quality of images is poor

Hi,
We are trying to print water bills for one of our customers. This water bill contains a bar graph. We use a third party product (Chart Director) to produce a jpeg image of the graph. This image is converted to base 64 and written into a "dat" file and put through the Jetform Central. When we create a PDF the quality of the graph is good i.e., they grey inside the bars of the graph are even. But when printed on our production Xerox 180 printer, the grey inside the bars of the graph are pixelated and of poor quality.
In fact, all images (which has grey scaling) embedded in the form produce pixelated images when printed.
         We use Jetform 5.5

Ctrl+Shift+R and Ctrl+Shift+A - seems to do the trick for me (ISP: Vodafone Romania).
However, when I phoned them in order for this "feature" to be removed, I was told to get my USB modem to one of their centers for a sofware update. No info on the website so far.

  • CS5 Best print quality using "Image" options ?

    Hi.
I have recently upgraded CS5 from 32 bit to 64 using Windows 7. I am trying to maximise print qualty. But notice that "Image" menu only offers 8,16 and 32 bit. The menu is preselected to 8 bit (? Improted picture qualtiy) and if I reselect to 32 bit, I lose the option to print. Can you help me please? Nai

This has nothing to do with print quality. You seriously need to read the help and do a generic web search on print stuff...

  • Hardcover Book Print Quality = Very Poor!

In the past with iPhoto 4 & 5, I have ordered and recieved hardcover books of very high print quality. I have just recieved my first hardcover book using iPhoto 6.01, and the print quality is down right poor and unacceptable. My high resolution shots all look extremely grainy and "poster-ized". The contrast on most shots is all out of sorts. I have read other posts regarding local printing of books (using your home printer, etc.) and people are sayint the same things. It looks like v.6 has some output problems which Apple must resolve. Until then, no more books for me (But how will we know when this issue is fixed?? Wait a while, take our chances, and order another one?).
    STEVE

I'm pushing Apple to provide full printing specs on the books, using some enterprise-level contacts to try to get around the lack of response from the official consumer support channel. I have an open ticket with the print services support people as well. I'll post info here in the "Photo book quality" topic:
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=313677&tstart=15
if and when I get answers.
Meanwhile, you might want to consider asking for a refund. Others have had success doing so.

  • Print Quality Question

When using the J6400 series there are several ways to set print quality....  There is the button on the front of the machine as well as the printing shortcuts that show up under preferences when you click on print.  Which selection over-rides the other and takes priority?  I have several customized shortcuts that use fast-draft and black cartridge only.  I'm hoping the button on the machine that always defaults to mid-level quality doesn't take priority over my customized settings.

AppleWorks changes the resolution of all graphic formats except PICT to 72 dpi. There are a couple of things you can do improve the print quality of images.
    1. Turn on Fractional Character widths in Preferences > General > Topic: Text. This is a text setting, but it does improve the print quality of images.
Open the image in Preview (32-bit) or GraphicConverter & Save As... a PICT to use in AppleWorks. PICT is generally the best format to use for inserting or pasting into AppleWorks.

  • How to improve the printing quality of pictures, printing a database layout

I have a database that contains also pictures in multimedia containers. If I print a layout containing a picture, the quality of the picture is really bad! Pixeled with big pixels.
Is there a possibility to get better prints?
The pictures are JPEGs of reasonable size.
The picture in the layout on the screen looks MUCH better.
Printing to an PDF and viewing this on the screen is equally bad.
    Any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I'm guessing that your images are JPEGs. AppleWorks changes the resolution of all graphic formats except PICT to 72 dpi. There are a couple of things you can do improve the print quality of images.

    2. Open the image in Preview or GraphicConverter & Save As... a PICT to use in AppleWorks.
PICT is generally the best format to use for inserting or pasting into AppleWorks. I find the resulting graphic can be resized somewhat & the resulting saved AW file is much smaller than if using JPEG or TIFF.

  • Appleworks Print Quality Question

I am using Appleworks 6.2.4 and iPhoto 7.1.5. I have been trying to put together an Appleworks (drawing) document that includes a photo that I exported from iPhoto. I have tried various exports, various printer settings (using a Cannon i960 photo printer)but no matter what I do I cannot get the imported photo to print in as nice a quality as it prints when I print straight from iPhoto.
    I have tried:
-exporting as "current" quality from iPhoto (1.2 meg file) and using Appleworks scale by percentage to reduce to 4x6 size.
-exporting as JPEG at medium (24 k), high (32 k), and maximum quality (120 k) and printing without adjusting size in Appleworks at all.
Surely this can be done, iPhoto is able to reduce the photo to 4x6 size and print crisply, why is it so difficult to get Appleworks to do the same?

  • IPhotos no option to select print quality

iPhotos no option to select print quality,
i keep getting poor prints, after cleaning the printer and calibrating it nothing has changed.
is there an option to select the quality of prints through iphoto?

On the Print dialog, look for options for your printer under Presets. You will see options such as "photo on photo paper - fine" depending on your printer's available features.

  • HP LaserJet 2600n poor print quality/streaking

I am the original owner of an HP LJ 2600n with a poor print quality/streaking issue. The poor print quality occurs with any and all paper that I use (currently Hammerhill 20# stock) and occurred with Windows XP and Windows 7. The print cartidges are all genuine HP and changing them does not make any difference. I have cleaned the front door roller with no improvement.  My firmware version is 20070716. The black cartridge is at 33%; yellow 75%; cyan 91% and magenta 91%...
Any advice would be appreciated. An example of the output is attached below:

    Hi everyone,
I have resolved my problem. I took a leap and purchased a new toner cartridge, and the new catridge works great. Installed it yesterday and the test page comes out clean, clear and with no double image. I'm happy.
Apparently the printer had not had a print item sent to it in over a year. I think that was actually hard on the toner cartridge.
Tthanks to everyone for their help via private emails!

  • The photo print quality from my Mac to my Epson Artisan 810 is poor.  When I take the same photo files (JPEGs) to my PC to print to the same printer without even uploading them to the PC, they print brighter and crisper from my PC.

The photo print quality from my Mac to my Epson Artisan 810 is poor.  I just purchased my iMac for my photography business in Jan. (this is my first Mac).  When I first tried printing, I noticed the quality wasn't as good as I expected it to be.  Then, I had to print 4-3.5x5s on a sheet, so I e-mailed the image to myself and opened it on my PC to print it (much easier to print that way on PC in Windows Photo Gallery - I think it's impossible to print that way in iPhoto).  That's when I first noticed that when I take the same photo files (JPEGs) to my PC to print to the same printer without even uploading them to the PC, they print brighter and crisper from my PC.
I've already been on the phone and e-mail w/Applecare many times over this issue. We've tried creating a test user and printing from there, and we've tried reinstalling the OS.  I've tried printing from iPhoto, ImageCapture, and Preview apps/utilities, all w/the same result - no comparison to the PC-printed versions (no enhancements have been performed on the PC).
I'm out of ideas, and so is Applecare.  They say it's most likely a driver issue b/c the printer is outdated, and that the only solution is to buy a new printer.  BUT it is a pain for me to purchase a new printer - it takes days of research due to the nature of my business and the fact that I need a printer that can print directly onto a disc.  I love this printer and don't want to have to buy a new one if I don't have to.

    englishfreak2004 wrote:
Yes.  I've checked for updates, and the driver I installed is the same as the one on Epson's website.  I also spoke with Epson Customer Service, which was a dead end.  Apple says the problem is due to an Epson driver issue (blaming Epson), but Epson says that with the older printers, it's actually Apple who creates the driver, so the problem is actually with Apple.  Typical he-said, she-said...
Maybe not. Probably worth checking here:

  • C4180 poor print quality

I've had my c4180 for a couple of years without any problems but the image print quality is now starting to deteriorate. When printing images on normal paper I usually print at maximum dpi but the quality is quite poor with white lines across the images. I've tried cleaning the print cartridges many times but it makes no difference. I've taken out the colour cartridge and given it a clean as recommended but still no improvement. There is just under half of the colour ink left so it's not because I'm running low either.
It's looking like I will need to buy a new printer which I really didn't want to have to do as it works perfectly apart from this.
    Can anyone suggest anything?
    Thanks in advance.

    43,
Ink has a limited life span.  It is sad, I know.  The ink in the printer may just be "old" beyond it's actual age.
I have an old J6480 that I use only occasionally -- it is such a good printer that I keep it in spite of the fact that I might have to change out the cartridges more frequently than when the unit actually runs out of ink.
You might change out the cartridges so you are not coating the insides of the printer with the old ink.
If you are not going to use the printer very often, it does seem to help to keep it stored in a cabinet: dark and enclosed where there is not an abundance of light, dust, dampness, or temperature differences.  I keep the J6480 in a cabinet on the other side of the house and use it wirelessly about every six months.
You may have to re-run the cleaning operation a couple of times after you do change the ink; change out the cartridges, test, and then decide.

It is a nice way to say “Thank You” for the help.
Although I strive to reflect HP's best practices, I do not work for HP.

  • Firefox mage quality and resolution was superb when I used XP and Vista. Now that I have Windows 7, however (with the Firefox 3.6.3 version), the image quality and resolution is poor. Please help me!

I am using the Firefox 3.6.3 version with my new Windows 7 operating system. When I used all the previous Firefox versions in my XP and Vista operating systems, image quality and resolution was excellent! However, now that I have upgraded to Windows 7 and Firefox 3.6.3, the image quality and resolution is poor (unacceptable for downloading purposes).

Not only on my site but on most sites I view.
The issue is not solved by resetting the zoom text view (ctrl+0)
The issue is not resolved by starting in safemode with add-ons disabled
The problem seems to only affect .jpeg files and only on Windows 7 on my desktop; as I have viewed several sites using windows XP with my laptop, no issues.
I had the same issue with IE8 and was able to fix the problem with by setting up the compatibility view for all sites. Issue fixed no problems at all. But nothing similar for firefox?
    Whats the deal?

  • Print quality seems poor

I've just printed some sample pictures from iPhoto 6 and am really disappointed by the quality. I have set the print dialogue to Photo Quality and all the settings look right but the printouts appear really grainy. Is there a way of choosing the dithering settings? Even better would be to turn dithering off - can I do this?
For reference I have printed the same images with Canon's clunky EasyPhotoPrint and the difference in quality is amazing.
Anybody got any ideas as to how to make things better in iPhoto?

  • MFP M476dw poor color print quality with streaking

I bought this printer in January and only printed half a dozen or so color prints, but always has color streaks.  I have printed may 200 B&W pages and they seem OK. I ran the calibration I found in the operator interface, but doesn't make any difference. See attached original image and scan of the color print.  Yes the scan looks just like the color print.  Color cartridges all show 80% full.  B&W cartridge is 70%. scan of color print  Original ImageWhat can I do to improve this?  I really was expecting better color print quality.

  • CP1025nw, repeptetive smudges, poor print quality, pushing toner button does nothing.

I haven't used this printer in a couple of years, so I sense some of my issues might be related to that.  First up, the print quality is quite poor. Despite having a new black toner cartridge, the B&W printing isn't very strong; it's blotchy in some areas with random spots in others. Second, there are repeating color splotches all over the place. I've attached a photo. Third, pressing any of the toner buttons does nothing, no beeps, blinks, or movement. So far, the only things I've tried was toreplace the black toner cartridge and blow out the interior of the machine with compress air. I also removed the drum and gave that a quick and careful cleaning.. Any thoughts?

  • L7780 poor print quality after not using for 6 months

Poor print quality after not using my printer for about 6 months.  Ran thru the tools (clean printhead, aligh, etc  . . .) didn't help. Replaced all chartridges, still no help.
I'm fairly tech savy, been in IT for 27 years starting with hardware support.
Question,  can I manually clean the printheads or should I just replace. I would rather try to clean them manually after just shelling out > $ 170 on new chartridges.

    Hi @Brentl
Yes, you can clean the printhead and the inside of the printer. The following document will help; 'The Following Printheads are Missing or Damaged, Replace the Printhead' Message Displays on the All....
