Printed web pages are produced in an enormous font size

Printed web pages are produced at font sizes that are enormous - essentially a 1/4 of the web page prints on one 8x11 paper.

  • When converting a web page to PDF, how to ensure font size matches

How can I make sure that the font size in the web page is the same as the font size in the PDF?

I created the file in Acrobat directly. When I tried to create it directly from the Chrome browser, this particular web site resulted in messy overlapping text. Creating the file in Acrobat the result was much cleaner, except that the font was changed. It is quite possible that my Arial is different from the Arial on the web page.
Just now I tried creating the PDF directly in Internet Explorer and in Firefox. There wasn't any overlapping text, but in both cases the font still changed to Times New Roman instead of Arial.

  • How do i get Firefox to print web pages in black and white only (colors are interpreted in grayscale and some are too light to be read)?

i have a black and white laser printer. Firefox prints web pages by sending color images to my printer. The printer uses greyscale to interpret the colors. i really want Firefox to send black and white images to my printer, because with greyscale some of the colors are translated to print that is too light to be seen clearly.
    Can this be done?
    Thanks,

i just tried disabling adblock and checking if i had any no script or noscript sort of addon. i do not have a script killer. disabling adblock did not solve the issue.

The HP PhotoSmart 5514 is on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work.  <iOS: AirPrint 101>
One problem might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  Contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change to its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
I had a printing problem several months ago, where the WiFi had jumped to a neighbor's WiFi that happened to have the same name.  There are a LOT of WiFi routers out there named "Linksys"!

  • Acrobat pro ver 6 or 7 can't print web page hyperlinks

I am having problems printing hyperlinks from a web application
What I do is print the page and it prints OK. The hyperlinks from the web page are there however when I click them they fail. These links point flies on mapped drives. On closer examination it looks loks like the syntax on the PDF's hyperlink is incorrect
If I copy the link it's
    w:\PERMIT HYPERLINKSP&ID DrawingsSystem 7000 FirewaterFirepump Isolations 1.jpg
    The correct link is
    W:\PERMIT HYPERLINKS\P&ID Drawings\System 7000 Firewater\Firepump Isolations 1.jpg
A colleague thought ver 8 may copy the hyperlinks across OK - has ayone else and experience with this problem ? Got a fix ? Wil lver 8 or 9 work ?

There were problems with IE9 on it's initial release and that may be what you are seeing if that is the browser (you did not indicate the browser and that may be a key). If you have a different browser you might try that one with the same pages to see if it browser related.
By saying garbled it sounds like the fonts did not make it or you have selected "Use Local Fonts" in Acrobat. Try checking the latter first. Then check if the fonts are embedded in the PDF by checking the document properties (ctrl-D). If they are not, go back to the browser and select the press or print job options before printing and see if they get embedded and if your problem is resolved.

  • Printing WEB Page

Hello, I own a Canon MF8580CDW.  It prints normal documents, but does not print web pages.  It states that there is not paper (even though it has paper) in the multi tray.  Second, is there a way to send scan documents to Ever note?

    Hi fstubbsjr.
To better assist you, I would like to ask a few questions.
    1.  Are you able to print from Safari?
    2.  What is the exact "No Paper: XXX" message?
    3.  What is the size and type of paper that you have loaded in the multipurpose tray?
    4.  Were the multipurpose tray paper settings on the machine set for this particular paper?
I look forward to your reply.  Should you need immediate assistance, please contact us at 1-800-OK-CANON (1-800-652-2666).

  • Printing web page at client side

i want to print web page at client side . Page & printer settings are through coding. i tried using
    DocFlavor myFormat = new DocFlavor("text/plain; charset=utf-16be","java.net.URL");
    i found exception invalid flavor

If you are trying to print a web page on the client side, you have to use the browser's print function which can be invoked through JavaScript. What you are trying to do can't possibly work. Even if you weren't getting an exception, it wouldn't work. Any Java code in the JSP will have no effect on what happens on the client's machine.

First of all, update Firefox to 3.6.17 via Help | Check For Updates.
There was a security breach at Comodo which is an SSL certificate provider recently whereby a number of fraudulent certificates were inadvertently issued. These allow a hacker to impersonate any site including online banking and the Firefox version you're running at the moment will not warn you that the site is a fake. The fraudulent certificates were blacklisted in v3.6.17 and beyond.
To uninstall the Yahoo Toolbar, go to Tools | Add-ons | Extensions. You should find it in there.
To revert to Google as your preferred search engine, please do the following.
    * In the location bar, type '''about:config''' and hit Enter.
    * In the filter at the top, type: '''keyword.URL'''
    * Double click it and remove whatever's in there and replace it with http://www.google.com/search?q=
The URL to add in "keyword.URL" becomes a link in this post, so right click it and choose "Copy Link Location" to copy it to the Windows clipboard. Then hit CTRL+V to paste it. Saves you having to type the whole thing.
'''To reset your home page, do the following'''.
    * Go to the site you want to set as your homepage.
    * Go to '''Tools '''| '''Options '''| '''General'''
    * Make sure it says "''Show My Homepage''" in the first dropdown menu.
    * Click the button called "'''Use Current Pages'''" to set the homepage to the one you have on the screen.
After you complete the above steps, install this add-on to prevent another search engine from modifying your preferences: https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/browserprotect/
Additonal security risks on your system are the version of Flash you have installed at the moment. See http://www.adobe.com/support/security/bulletins/apsb11-12.html

  • FireFox keep saying "unexpected error" when trying to print web pages.

FireFox keep saying "unexpected error" when trying to print web pages. The print preview works OK, but when you try to print that "unexpected error" jumps up.
Please email me on what to do to get FireFox to work.
I don't see anything in the FAQ that might help me.

    Hi,
Please also try this setting: Windows start menu or Control Panel > '''Devices and Printers''', right-click the printer > '''Printer properties''' > '''Advanced''', and select '''Start printing after the last page is spooled'''. In this case you can also close Firefox after spooling is over (usually much faster than direct printing), and printing will continue.
Also as a general case, if you have security software (antivirus, firewall etc.) installed, you can try deleting all existing instances of Firefox and its related processes/files in all the different configuration modules/areas of the security software like process monitoring, sub/spawned process control, virtualization, HIPS etc., in addition to the security software's main configuration panel. Instead create new fully allowed/trusted rules for Firefox + its related processes in all the different modules/panels - a genuine/original Firefox installer as well as all the installed EXEs (Application) and DLLs (Application extension) are digitally signed by Mozilla Corporation (right-click > Properties > Digital Signatures). Even otherwise, some security software may also ask again when Firefox and/or its sub processes are started, and you may be able to allow/trust at that time. • EPrint won't print web pages from Windows 8 Microsoft Surface tablet

ePrint won't print web pages from Windows 8 (x64) Microsoft Surface tablet Any ideas?

    Hello JereTanner,
Welcome to the HP Support Forums! I see you are trying to print web pages from a Surface tablet. What model of printer are you trying to print to? Also, Is there an error, message, etc, when you try to print? Typically, ePrint is used when printing eMails or forwarding documents / pictures to the printers eMail address, is this how you are trying to print the web page? Since this is a Windows 8 Operating System, you may be able to install full feature software and print that way. When I know more about how you are trying to print, what happens when you try and what printer you are using, I will be able to better help. Cheers,

When I print web pages with any of 3 printers, the left and right margins are cut off by about one letter. Using HP printers, Leopard. Doesn't occur with other programs such as mail, Word etc. Print options in Safari do not include margins. Any suggestions?

  • I can not print web pages with my HP Deskjet 5440

I can not print web pages with my HP Deskjet 5440.  I use Vista, no error page, just prints a blank page with headers and footers.  Recently reinstalled printer driver from HP.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!
I understand that since upgrading your Mac OS X 10.10 computer to Mac OS X 10.10.4 you have been unable to print colour photos wirelessly from your HP Officejet 5740 e-All-in-One Printer. I would like to assist you today with resolving this colour printing issue. To be honest, it does sound like Mac may have loaded the generic Apple Airprint driver on your printer rather then the HP Full Feature Software and Driver package. Should this be the case then you will only have basic print capabilities. Please follow the steps below to confirm that your HP Officejet is utilising the correct driver on your Mac.
    1. Click the Apple menu, and then click System Preferences. 2. Click Print & Scan, and then check if the name of your printer displays in the Printers list. 3. Click the name of your printer, click the minus sign (), and then delete the printer.  4. Click the plus sign (), click Add Printer or Scanner, click the name of your printer, 5. Click the Use or Print Using box, and then select the name of your printer in the pop-up menu. Ensure that the Officejet driver is selected and not the Airprint driver.
      6. Click Add to add the printer to the list.  Once your printer has been installed with the correct HP driver, please test printing a colour photo to confirm that the issue has been resolved. Please respond to this post with the result of your troubleshooting. Should the issue persist there are additional software and driver troubleshooting steps I will have you perform. I look forward to hearing from you!

  • I am using Firefox 11 and I am unable to print web pages. I can print PDFs ok. I tried to open the prefs.js file to delete anything that starts with print and I get an error message.

I cannot print web pages. I've tried the solutions suggested like deleting anything that starts with print in the prefs.js file but I get an error message: Script: c:\users\rick\appdata\roading\mozilla\firefox\profiles\iviwh5c1.default\prefs.js
    line: 1
    Char: 1
    Error: invalid character
    code: 800A03F6
    Source: Microsoft JScript compilation error

When editing '''prefs.js''' you need to use a simple text editor program. WinXP Notepad messes up the line formatting of prefs.js, so I use Wordpad - but you need to save the edited file in a Text-Only format (Wordpad asks about that when you go to save the edited file). I never used Win7, so I don't know if that version of Notepad messes with the line formatting of prefs.js or not.
Another thing - make sure '''''"Hide extensions for known file types"''''' is de-delected in Windows file / folder options > view -> advanced settings. Otherwise Windows may add a .txt file extension that you won't be able to see, and that will break that file in Firefox. '''prefs.js.txt''' won't be recognized by Firefox, when is expecting to find '''''prefs.js''''' .
