Hi all I'm a newbie here. I'm thinking of getting a HP Photosmart C4680 All-in-One Printer and I know that it doesn't come with a printer cable, does anyone know if I can use my Dell printer cable? It's not a permanent cable. Thanks for any help.

  • "The disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" box appears when printer cable inserted into USB connection.

When I plugged my printer cable into my MacBook today I received a message "the disk you inserted was not readable by this computer" with options to Ignore or Eject. The printer worked fine yesterday but does not respond today. Additionally there is abox titled "All Messages" appearing on my screen which is producing new messages every minute or so the most common of which is disk1: I/O error and disk1:alignment error, SAM Multimedia: Read or Write failed.
I tried unsuccessfully yeseterday to install a scanner on this MacBook.Everything seemed to progress normally during the install but the Scanner did not show in my applications after my attempt to install.
    Any ideas?
    Thank you in advance

I uninstalled and reinstalled my printer and everything seems to work fine now.

  • Continue to receive error 1604 and can't use the recover function - help!  I have gone through all the steps listed in support and nothing has worked.  I am using a usb port I tested with my printer cable and it's fine.

I wanted to update my software this morning and it has turned into a nightmare.  I continue to receive the error 1604, which is related to a usb port.  I followed all the steps listed in support and nothing has helped.  I just plugged in my printer cable to the usb port and it works fine, yet I continue to receive this error and can't use my phone!

A printer does not require power, and does not transfer large amounts of data. So that is not a valid test. It's like saying "if I plug a nightlight into an outlet it works fine, so why do 2 hair dryers on at the same time trip a circuit breaker?"
Are you using a port directly on the computer, and not a hub? If it's not a laptop and it has ports on front and back are you using a back port, which can supply more power?
Have you EVER used this computer to hack or jailbreak ANY iPhone (not necessarily the one with the problem? Or used a program to downgrade the version of iOS on any phone?

  • HP Officejet 6700 Premium: eprint works; connection with printer cable doesn't

Just bought a new Officejet 6700 Premium. I had the same model before. Setup worked well and eprint functions. But with the last Officejet I had, I could also connect it with a printer cable and then I could print directly without having to send an email. I find this useful, because there is not so much waste of paper and ink on pages I don't need (sometimes I only want to print one page  from a series of several pages or I want to print something directly from the internet). With the new model I have connected the printer and my computer with the printer cable, but I cannot print with the option of, for example, "print this page", but always have to make a pdf and then attach this to an email and send it to hpeprint. Can someone tell me what I have to do in order to be able to print directly  with the printer cable? Thank you in advance!

    Welcome to the forums, @Sunshine888
I read your post about how you can ePrint successfully, however you cannot print from your computer. I would like to help you with this! To find the best troubleshooting steps for you, I would need to know which operating system you are running on your computer and also let me know how you wish to connect your printer to your computer (USB, Ethernet or wireless).
Which Windows Operating System am I running?

  • Printer cable not compatible

Purchased new Dell XPS 8700 Tower and unable to plug in printer cable from 5650 printer.  Do I need a new adapter between cables and where can I purchase one?  Also which adapter # will I need if possible.
    This question was solved.

The Dell 8700 has USB ports, and your Deskjet 5650 has USB and parallel ports.  If you were previously using the parallel port on your printer you will need to purchase a standard A/B USB 2.0 cable.  The cables are standard, you do not need the special gold plated version.  I often pick up the cables up at the Dollar Store for $1, any computer shop should sell them.

  • Connecting HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m to a new WiFi connection without attaching the printer cable

    Hi All,
I have recently changed my ISP and so new WiFi network has been set up at home.
Now I want my printer (HP Photosmart Plus B209a-m) to connect to the new network.
Is there a way I do this without having to attach a printer cable between my laptop and the printer?
    Thanks

Yes, on the front of the printer: Setup > Wireless > Restore Defaults.
Now on your computer, in the HP folder, run the Printer Setup and Software to add the printer to your new network.

  • IEEE 1284 parallel printer cable

I want to find a replace printer cord that still allows the parallel port into my HP printer and the other end to have a USB connector into my pc.    Does HP offer this configuration OR can I take my existing dual parallel printer cable and buy some sort of connector  that converts the pc parallel port to a USB port?

What printer model?  What operating system?  (Some printers like the Deskjet 900 series printers have a USB port that is generally not visible....)
USB-Parallel converters are available from a number of sources for <$20 US.  Make sure the cable you purchase is supported by your operating system.  The models listed here have been confirmed by users to work in Windows 7.

  • 4600 HDN parallel printer cable

I am trying to locate a parallel printer cable that will connect my 4600 color printer directly to the LPT1 printer port.  The 4600 has a unique connection/

Sorry that you are having a problem with the printer splitting up into 3 pages.
How long is your USB cable?
You can try to uninstall and re-install the software and drivers and see if that changes the outcome.
Perform a hard reset on the printer. Unplug the power cord from the back, and leave it out for 30 seconds.

I've just gotten a HP Pro with windows 7 & would like to keep my HP inkjet 2200.  I purchased a parallel printer cable & when first installed it worked fine.  Now when I print 1 page it cuts it up into about 3 pages & doesn't print the entire document.

  • USB printer cable

I need a USB 2.0 a-to-b printer cable.  They're not all the same.   Is IEEE 1284 compliant the best?

Personally,I'd just upgrade to a new printer.

  • Use both WiFi & Printer Cable or Cat5 from Router?

Can both WiFi and cable be used on the same printer. If cable, use printer cable or Cat5 cable to router? I am unsure where the slowness of getting print output to the printer is.

    Hi roreilly,
Honestly it depends on the printer.  It is possible to install the driver  via USB cable along with one of the 2 networked choices, wireless or ethernet, its not recommended, you may get to work, you will just have to select which insatled printer you would like to print to, but you certainly are not able to have printer communicate via cat5 and wireless because as soons as your printer detects a network cable, it should disable wireless functionality as they are one in the same.

  • Trouble connecting LaserJet6p to Windows 7 64 bit computer using usb to parallel printer cable

The printer isn't responding at all--not even a test page. I've verified that the correct driver is installed and the computer does recognize the printer (even as the "default").
Any suggestions?   The computer is working with my other printer through blue-tooth,,,,
    Thanks!
    Paul

The USB-parallel cable needs a driver that supports Windows 7 x64 in addition to the driver the printer needs.  Additionally make sure the port settings are correct, usually the port will be something like USB001: or USB002: for the USB-parallel port. Some cables may provide a virtual LPT port such as LPT3:.  Check the documentation for your unit for details.
The posts here list models of USB-parallel ports folks here have had success with in Windows 7.

  • Controlling relay board via printer cable

    Hello all,
Please bear with me as I am an absolute beginner with LabVIEW, but want to learn.
My boss has asked me to try and write a program to control a PC relay driver board, which is here: http://www.quasarelectronics.com/3074.htm
According to the user manual "you can write your own programs in any language to output a byte to the printer port and the bits which are high will turn on the corresponding relay. The overlay on the PCB shows which bit in the output byte turns that particular relay on. For example, output 00010001, or 11 in hex turns on relays 1 & 5. Each relay number is also marked on the overlay for easy reference." Do I need a printer driver, do I need a DLL?
Could anybody show me where I should start, or lead me through some way? To me the problem sounds like it might be relatively easy, but too much for me
any help would be greatly appreciated
    thanks,
    Gwilym
    LabVIEW 7.1 unfortunately

There is no need to use a local variable to do that. Do you have a background in text-based languages? I ask because most people who have done text-based programming and start out programming in LabVIEW immediately start using local variables thinking that LabVIEW works the same way as text-based languages. A front panel control can be set to blink by simply setting the blinking property. The blinking rate is set in the LabVIEW options:
If you want to use a different blinking rate use a shift register in a loop:
