Printer color not in sync

I am having a problem with how my Canon i9900 printer has been printing. Some of the colors are faded. It was working fine, and now all of a sudden the colors are off. The problem seems to be occuring during the print preview stage. The pics are fine until I put them in preview, then on screen the faded colors show up. I changed my profiles all to the same profile, yet they still do not match up. I do not know what else to try. It happens regardless of what program I use to print, I have tried PhotShop, iPhoto, and Canon's own program, Easy PhotoPrint. Can anyone out there help me? My wife runs a small business making scrapbooks so she needs the printer. Thanks.

If you don't migrate to iCloud your @mac.com address will cease to function for email on 20 June 2012 (though it can still be used as an ID for these forums).
You may be able to migrate to iCloud at http://me.com/move , even without Lion (Lion is required to use iCloud, but it's not clear whether you can migrate without it), but if you have been syncing your calendars with MobileMe you will need to move them back to 'On My Mac' before doing this, and you should turn off any syncing you have running or you will be plagued with error messages. Back up your calendars and contacts before doing any of this. If when attempting to migrate you are told you can't because you don't have Lion, then you are stuck and your email will cease to function next June.
This done you can configure Mail manually to access your @mac.com/@me.com mail. You will not be able to access any of iCloud's other facilities.
To move calendars listed under you MobileMe login to 'On My Mac' follow the second set of numbered instructions here:

  • Printed colors not correct from Preview

    Hi All,
I'm a pro photographer with a good understanding of color profiles and calibration. My G5 system is fully color calibrated from monitors (Apple Cinema displays) through to printer and I get great color reproduction on screen and when printing from Photoshop.
On-screen colors in Preview look identical to other apps, but when I try to print from Preview the colors are all wrong. I've never used Colorsync, so anything in there is set at default. When I print from Photoshop I use one of my custom printer profiles, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere in Preview to use these when printing.
How do I get Preview to print colors that match my screen?? I think Colorsync may be involved somewhere but don't know how to use it.
    Any help is much appreciated!

You didn't make it clear what profile you are using.  Two profiles are necessary for colour management of printing - a monitor profile, and a printer/paper profile from the printer manufacturer or the paper supplier.
It is also necessary to ensure that all colour management in the printer driver is disabled.

  • Printed colors not same as in Lightroom 3.2

Trying to print from Lightroom 3.2 and prints have a magenta tint to them. They look great in Lightroom on the monitor but the results are not the same. I'm pinting on a Canon IP6700D and using a profile to control the color. I'm running Lightroom on a Windows 7 64 bit machine. How do I get the colors to match?

  • Officejet Pro 8625 Photo print colors not matching monitor!

I just purchased this Officejet Pro 8625 yesterday and while I love many of it's features, I noticed that when printing photos the prints come out very dark and even a bit 'muddy" ie they not only do not match what I see on my Samsung monitor, but they are not really even close. I have used an HP officejet 7310xi for many years...and photos printed from that have been nearly always true to the original photo files/monitor appearance.
I have already run all the printing tests, and they all actually look fine other than Test #1 from the Print Diagnostic page...so calibrated the linefeed. The print heads are clean, etc. I spent over an hour on the phone with tech support early this morning and no resolution...so I am at a loss here as to why the color is so off. The tech told me that the ink cartridges that come with the printer might be the issue, but I don't understand why that would be the case if it's authentic HP ink.
I am using good glossy photo paper and have tried several settings, and printing from both within Photoshop Elements 11 with the RGB color settings, and from PSP 9, as well as without going through any editing program. Nothing has helped.
Before I give up and return this printer (because while I need it for faxing and other functions, I also need photo prints that at least come close to what my monitor shows), I'm hoping someone here might have some ideas.
The tech and I did download the most recent drivers/software from the HP website as the software on the included cd was actually not the most recent.
    Thank you!

My suggestion about using the onboard USB is to rule out both the USB & WiFi ports.
If printing from the 8625 USB port produces the same results then you may have a defective printer.
Have you also tried printing a sample image that is not yours? (using the O/S image program)

  • C3150 local to a PC and I want to print color not greyscale

I have a home network. The HP C3150 is local to a PC on the network and is shared and usable by my IMAC (SnowLepoard). I can print greyscale fine. Need to print in color and not sure where I need to change the settings.

This will depend on what driver you are using. When a Mac connects to a Windows shared printer it often cannot use the vendors original driver. For this type of connection an alternate driver, such as Gutenprint, is often required. Given that your printing is working fine in mono there is a chance that you are using a driver that only supports b&w. If you open Print & Fax, select the printer and then open Options & Supplies, under the Driver tab will be what your Mac is using. If you can reply with this driver name then I can check if this driver supports color printing.

  • Printing colors not correct when using  non printer software

I am using a new CANON MX882. When I print using the Canon easy photo software the print turn out perfect. However when I print from Aperture or Photoshop Elements the pictures turn out with the colors blown out and overexposed. I have the lates drivers availabe from Canon which they say is compatible works with 10.7. I have tried using the printer manament or the software and it doesn't make any difference. Any thoughts on whats next? I am wasting all sorts of paper trying to figure this out.
    thanks
    Chris

I don't have Aperture or PSE but I do have Photoshop CS5 and with that application the best settings are to let the printer manage the colours. I have some grabs from the PS5 print dialog for your reference.
From the PS5 print dialog, from the Color Management menu the Color Handling is set to "Printer Manages Color".
When you select Print and the normal print dialog appears (or you open Print Settings from the PS5 print dialog) select the Color Matching menu and ensure it is set to Canon Color Matching.
And the last thing to check is the Quality & Matching menu for the Canon printer. The colour profiles for the printer are based on different paper stocks. So it is important that in the Media Type menu you select the type of paper being used and you also want to select High Quality.

  • HELP! My HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP M475dn printer will NOT print!!!!

HP LaserJet Pro 400 color MFP M475dn- CE863A
Printer is on a network and can connect to multiple computers that include: Mac OS X, Windows 7, and Windows XP.
When I try to print from my iMac, the printer queue says "The printer is not connected".  When we try to print from the Windows computers, it just sits there in the queue and doesn't print.  When I go over to the printer itself and try to print either a demo page or a supplies page directly from it, it says on the screen that is printed it but nothing happens.  It doesn't hum or anything!  The port where the network cable is connected is lit green which HP says that means that the network cable is connected.  We have had this printer for a year now and something like this has never happened.
I haven't switched any software or anything before this happened.  It was working fine on Saturday when we were using it, but when we came into work today, it just decided it would stop printing!
I am stumped!  I tried 'pinging' the printer's IP address from my iMac and it pings just fine.  Does anyone have any tips?
(I tried doing the obvious too- like turning the printer on and off and shutting the computers down- and nothing!)
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

Okay, so I'm feeling slightly stupid right now.  I decided I would shut the printer down for about an hour to see if that was it and what do you know- it was!  I had shut it off a few times before but I guess it just wasn't long enough.  What a pain!
Thank you to anyone who took the time to read this!  Sorry to waste anyone's time!!

  • Printer not printing AND Matching Screen colors to Print colors.  Any advice is apreciated!!

Hello - I have 2 questions regarding  printing to an Epson and also regarding the monitor colors Not matching the print colors working from Photoshop CS4 on a Mac with a Maverick [ 10.9.3 ] OS. My issues are Not about my own printers or software.  I have been tutoring a friend via phone in Photoshop; he has CS4 and is working on Mac OS 10.9.3.
1- We found that he could print nearly fine [ nearly accurate colors ] from Lightroom on his computer, version 5.4.   But when he tries to print from Photoshop he cannot make a print.   There is clear communication between the computer and the printer, as, when he sent the file to print, the printer [ an Epson 3880 ] responded by automatically changing to Photo Black from Matte.  Then, it opens the rollers as if to print, but, it them stops and the menu [ on the Printer ] says 'Ready.'   The paper is 4x6” Moab Lasal paper 300gsm. This issue of Not printing is only with this Moab Lasal luster paper, for which he Does have the IIC profile, and we always make sure ‘Photoshop manages colors,’ not the printer. To address the issue of the printer Not printing at all using a non-Epson brand paper, we have tried seemingly everything from deleting and re-adding the printer from the Library / Printers, resetting everything [ printer   computer   software etc ], trying different settings in the Printer window and the Print Settings window. Including changing the media profile, platen gap, etc.
2- My other and more important question is – after we Do get a print, we cannot match the monitor color to the print. [ We havE been able to get a print using Epson brand paper.   Which is odd because we have the ICC profiles for both papers ]. To address the color matching issue, he has told me he calibrated the monitor with a Spyder, and here are a few other variables that I can relay that may or may not be affecting his color-issues:
He iS viewing his prints in a dayliglht-rated lighting environment
The monitor is an iMac glossy finish monitor, not an anti-glare
We tried working and printing from both an 8-bit and also a 16-bit color-space and also 16-bit printing
The color shift is slightly but noticeably toward Magenta.
    His printer is Not calibrated
Please let me know what else we can do, any known glitches that may be an issue with his older version of CS, any tips you can suggest.
    Thanks very much!

I don't have that printer and I'm not on Mac, so someone else has to step in there. Generally a green/magenta cast indicates none/double printer color management. But then I don't know what you mean by "slight".
The Spyders aren't the most consistent and reliable calibrators out there. I had a Spyder 3 sensor that I just threw away because it gave a distinct red cast (I have several other calibrators, so there was no doubt). Another potential problem is that with most calibrators you can only adjust the white point along the blue/yellow Kelvin scale, but not on the green/magenta scale. This is often necessary to get a good white point color. In this case you need to use the monitor's OSD controls, and if possible the "pre-calibration" function in the calibrator to measure and monitor it - if that function exists. And I don't know if this is possible with an iMac.
This is basically a question of getting the white point right, both on the blue/yellow and the green/magenta axis (and luminance of course). The goal is to get a visual match to paper white on screen. With the white point properly set, neutral color balance relates to that, and the rest more or less follows by itself. (In addition you should set the proper black point/contrast for full control, but that's not the issue here).

  • Type 4 printer driver shows color is available when printer is not a color printer

I am working on migrating to a new Windows Server 2012 print server.  I am trying to use the new version 4 printer drivers whenever possible.  I have noticed an interesting thing.  Here is an example.  When I added a new printer, an HP
LaserJet P3005 black and white printer using the HP LaserJet P3004/P3005 PCL6 Class Driver, under "features" it reports Color as "Yes."  Now the printer is not color and I have noticed this on all of the other class 4 drivers for black
and white printers.  Am I missing something or is this supposed to be this way?  The printers do print fine, I just wanted to know why this is showing up like this.

Really a question for HP since it is their software.
BUT:  A class driver can be used for a wide range of devices.  If the core class driver HP added for the P3005 is also used by devices that support color then the driver itself DOES support color even when the device does not.   There
are a couple ways HP could code around this.  I do see that HP's PS version of the P3005 does not have a color option in Printing Defaults.
I have seen this type of issue from other vendors on previous operating systems, it's not just HP nor anything specific to class drivers although a class driver would expose this when the software to constrain the feature has not been added by the vendor.

  • HP Color LaserJet CP2025 / Windows 7(64bit)-Why the printer does not print color letters??

HP Color LaserJet CP2025  / Windows 7(64bit)-Why the printer does not print color letters??

Could be a lot of reasons. First try to print a supplies status page- If that prints with color on it, you have a driver problem.

  • My printer will not print in color, only black and white.

I have an Epson NX 420. I have set it up to my laptop, and am able to print off of my computer. But when I go to print a document out of pages, even though it says it is in the color mode it only will print out in Black and White. Is there something I should be downloading? I do know that the printer can and does print in color, because everything works perfectly fine on my Windows computer.

There are a few things to check:
Make sure the blue tape has been removed from the nozzle plate.
Print a diagnostic page as shown in method 4 here.  Does this page print color?  If so the issue may be your driver settings.  Check for a "Print in grayscale" setting and uncheck this box.

  • HP G85 all in one - not printing color

The printer display said the color was out so I bought a new cartridge.   So, installed it, did a test print but no color so I chose the clean cartridge several times - still no color at all.   Printer is not complaining about the cartridge, no error messages. I checked out the cartridge and there is visible wet ink on the little holes so it seems to have ink.
I assume the color jets are clogged or something?  Is there some way to clean them out?

    Hi abehil,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you replaced the color cartridge and you aren't able to print in color. You ran the cleaning feature and are still having the same issue.
I can help you with that.
I would do a power reset to see if that will resolve the issue.
With the printer still turned on, disconnect the power cable from the back of the printer, if the printer has external power module with a detachable power cord disconnect it for 15 seconds and then reconnect it.
Hold down the power button for 10 seconds to drain the power.
Then disconnect the power cable from the wall outlet.
Wait 10 seconds and reconnect the power cable back to the wall outlet first, then the back of the printer and power it on again.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector)
I have provided a document for manually cleaning the contacts to see if that will resolve this issue.
    Print Cartridge Errors.
    Disregard the title.
If you need further assistance, please let me know the results.
Are you using Genuine HP Cartridges?
Check the date on the cartridges to make sure they are still in warranty. (not old stock)
    What are the ink levels?
    Have a great day.

  • Colors in print preview not matching colors in soft proofing

    Hi There,
Just wanted to print a new photo and realized that the colors in print preview do not match the colors in soft proofing. In both cases I selected the same icc profile and rendering method. The print colors matched the colors in print preview. I never had a problem so far. All new prints will be checked with soft proofing and adjusted when necessary. I never paid attention to the color rendition in print preview and all prints perfectly matched the colors from the soft proofing. I was surprised when my print came out of the printer and the colors weren't matching the soft proofing colors, but that of the print preview.
I don't understand why Photoshop renders the colors differently in the first place. Please see attached screenshot for the difference in the blue/cyan colors.
I would appreciate if anybody could point me in the right direction in what is causing this difference. I don't care if the print view colors will match the print, but I do care when soft proofing is not working.
    Thank you.
    Best regards,
    D.

    Here are some addtional details:
    PS 13.1.2
    Mac OS X 10.8.4
    12 GB Ram
    60 GB free disk space
I printed the same photo from two other computers (MacBook and iMac) with different PS versions (CS4 and CS5). The prints turned out identical to the first one which matches the print preview color rendition on my main computer (MacPro) running CS6. Strangely the colors in print preview of CS5 on the iMac renders the colors identical to the soft proofing colors.

  • Colors not printing correctly. Only blue and black work.

I just got a new HP OfficeJet all in one inkjet 8620 printer. The colors aren't printing correctly. Everything comes out light blue with black lettering. I tried installing new cartridges (genuine HP) and also tried gently shaking the cartridges. But the problem persists.

    Hi @Iolanthe ,
I see that you are experiencing issues with the colors not printing correctly. I would like to help you resolve this issue.
I have provided a document with some steps to try to see if that will resolve the issue.
Fixing Print Quality Problems for the HP Officejet Pro 8610, 8620, 8630, 8640, and 8660 e-All-in-One...
Please let me know the results of the Print Quality Diagnostic Page?
If the test pages are printing properly, it could be a software issue.
What operating system are you using? Mac OS X: How Do I Find Which Mac OS X Version Is on My Computer?
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Officejet 8620)
If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
Let me know how the printer name was listed.
From the application, make sure you are selecting the proper paper type.
Try another application to see if you have the same issue.
How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
