Printer/Crop Mark Question

Hi all,
I searched through the topics and found a post that was
talking about the crop mark. I have the same problem here, whenever
i go to print>freehand MX>advanced, all that i find is just a
small window called "print preview" that's it. There's no
separations, paper setup, imaging, etc. I tried to open the same
dialog at my school and it has those features.

It's OS X and yes, i installed the drivers (I own Epson R1800
and HP Psc 1200 series) and then add them using printer setup
utility. I also use apple airport express to print wirelessly.
My questions:
1. Does it have to be a post-script printer to have those
features? (imaging, crop marks, etc)
2. Does printing wirelessly affect this on Freehand MX?
(doesn't affect my adobe cs2 applications though)
3. What can i do/try to have those features?
p.s. I read about the Xtra but i'm trying to get my Freehand
"fixed" here =)
Thank you
Harry

Thr crop marks will not show unless you have a postscript
printer. If you are sending the job to a commercial printer they
will insert crop marks. If you are printing yourself and require
crop marks you can insert them with a PDF making application such
as Adobe Acrobat Professional. If you don't have that there is an
open source application called PDF maker which you can download at
www.freedomleague.org.za or at least find a link from that
site.

  • Cannot print crop marks in Adobe Reader 9.4.2, 10.1

Printing from an A4 pdf to A3. Using a full version of Adobe 7 or 9.42. the crop marks appear but using Adobe Reader 9.4.2 and up no crop marks appear. Show art, trim, & bleed boxes is ticked. Does Adobe Reader print these marks?
    Thanks in advance.

No difference in output using the latest version.
We are printing to Xerox WorkCentre 7425/7435 printers. When printing from a full version of Adobe Acrobat the advanced button of the Print Driver popup has check options for Marks under Marks and Bleeds while printing from Adobe Reader does not.

  • Why is 'Print crop marks' greyed out in the Print dialog?

This is an option in the Print page, so you know where to cut your images aprt. I though this tick-box would become active once I had selected a border size, but no.
I notice in the training video it's greyed out too, but in the next scene, it's active.
    Any ideas?

    Ian,
I was trying to make a contact sheet, woth several images on a sheet. (My next question is 'Can I specify the sizes of individual prints?').

  • How do I print the guides on artwork so that Printer will see crop marks?

I designed a wedding invitation in Photoshop CS3 and I need to send him samples of the artwork. I wanted to show him where the Guides are located so that he'll know where to do his cuts. I thought that I could should him where those cuts would go by including the Guides on the artwork. I saved the artwork as a jpeg.

I did a quick online search and came up with the following.

Check it out and see if it helps. If not, please let me know.
I have seen advice not to use crop marks in CS3....printer automatically doing that and in some cases charges for removing them. But, I have not been there and done that, so...

  • How do I print a pdf without the standard crop marks that appear when I have created it in Illustrator originally?

    Hi
I am so frustrated as I cannot work out why my pdf files that I have created in Illustrator, print out on my printer with crop marks as well as scaling the image to fit them in on the paper. I just want to be able to print it out without the crop marks at the correct and original size it was designed in.
    Help Please.

The crop marks are part of the design, no reason why Acrobat wouldn't print them. You could try cropping them out in Acrobat.

  • Printing with Bleed and Crop marks from PS to PDF

So, i have created a business card with a .125in bleed all around in photoshop. I know that you can go to File->print->output in photoshop and specify crop marks and the amound of bleed...however, i have saved my business card as a PDF from photoshop. I want to print from the PDF version as i have the plug-in quite imposing 2 for acrobat and use step and repeat. How do i add the crop marks in the right place from Acrobat on the business card?

Do you have Quite Imposing Plus 2 or just Quite Imposing 2?

  • Crop Marks/Preparing to Print - PDF

    Hello,
I have created a 250 page book in indesign.  When I select "Package for Print", printers marks are not set.  If I try just printing the book, I see where I can opt to print with printers marks, but they don't save on the file.  When I go back to Package for print, they're not showing.
How can I create a PDF of the entire book that I can upload to a printing website (going to use Mimeo.com) WITH crop marks shown on that file?  Mimeo only accepts PDF files.
I have CS5 on a Mac.  Please be specific as to what instructions you give, as I'm new to this.  Thanks!
    Please help!!   THanks!

    Hi Bob,
Yes, its a book... well actually a planner...
I have CS5 (on a Mac).  Can you give me specific instructions as to
where I'd find that?  Any of the ways that I go to export a PDF, I
don't see those options available.  Thanks!

  • Is there a way to insert printer's 'crop' marks in Page document?

Making a booklet. Printer needs crop marks and bleed. Is there some easy way to make a set of crop marks for a single page ... that can be easily translated through all the pages of the document?
    Ben

Can one set Pages to RGB \ CMYK? Where?
The page description models of Adobe PostScript, Apple QuickDraw Graphics Extension, and Adobe Portable Document Format are object oriented. Conceptually, there is no such thing as a global colourant model for object oriented page description models.
To control colour in an object oriented page description model that supports the intelligent separation model of the International Color Consortium, capture and correct images into a source CIELab or RGB colour space of your choice.
Place RGB objects in pagination properly tagged with their source ICC profiles and include the ICC profile for the intended printing condition as a PDF/X-3 OutputIntent using the ColorSync Utility export process (take care to revisit the export filter to see if the printing condition is correct).
This way all objects in the pagination are converted into the correct ink limit, gray balance, highlight soft clipping, shadow soft clipping and compression of colour contrasts for the lightness range and colour gamut of the printing condition.

  • Easy question, I hope: how do I set crop marks?

I  just want to specify where the bleed will be. Thaaank you.

in the print dialog box you can grab the Color Managment drop down and get to the output options.
set your bleed and turn on the Crop Marks toggle and you will be able to see where you bleed marker is landing.

  • Crop marks won't print

I’ve only run into this with one client. He sends me individual epses, each one a business card to print. When I open them in Illustrator it looks like there are crop marks and bleed, when I place in InDesign, as I always do, to set 8 up on a page the bleed won’t print and the crop marks won’t print.  I can enlarge the object box and see the bleed and crop marks but they still wont print. If I print directly from Illustrator just to test it, it will print the bleed but still no crop marks. This is all in CS3 but was the same when I had CS2.

I always prefer to use trim marks (crop marks as opposed to crop area) and fit the artboard to them.
I'm with you, Steve. I did it that way for years mainly because it left no room for ambiguity (and because that's what made sense to those of us who used to paste layout elements down on artboards with rubber cement).
Unfortunately, over the last few versions, Adobe seems to have been changing the paradigm on us. I've seen an attempt to bring Illustrator in line with the DTP way of doing things -- Quark, Pagemaker, and InDesign have always equated artboard size with document trim size. The change in Illustrator terminology (no more reference to "trim marks"), I think, was the first clue that this was happening.
In th U.S., more and more magazines (even as their numbers dwindle) are now accepting print ad layouts done in Illustrator (whereas they used to insist they be done exclusively in QuarkXpress). Those that do, however, are insisting that the document (artboard) size correspond to their trim size.
OK, fine. But I don't have to like it.

  • Where are crop marks for printing Acr. Pro 9

trying to print a document from InD4 after PDF'ing it and have it up on Acrobat.  I don't do this often but am at a loss-where do I find the check off boxes so I can send the file to the printer with the crop marks and the color block.
    Thanks for any quick reply

When you export a PDF from ID4 you will need to check the Marks and Bleeds. You can also define a preset for PDF Export to help expedite this task if you do it often.

  • Does a printer expect crop marks?

Hi! If I am sending something to a printer as a photoshop pdf, should I put crop marks? I've seen some people saying that it's their job as the printer to do that. I don't speak directly with the printing company so I can't just ask them, also I want to know if there is a standard for things like this. Thanks!

I'm not sure it can be helpful, since you're not printing direct to a printer, but do you know about these features of the Photoshop File - Print dialog?  I was vaguely thinking maybe you could print to PDF or XPS or something along those lines...

  • Crop Marks...etc Do Not Print

When outputting film to the rip or laser printer the crop marks and register marks will not print. Even if you add gutter to the job and create your own marks and color them with register black. They also will not output. Using CS6 and CC versions.

    Peter Spier wrote:
I'm going to recheck this though since it's possible I had no other K in the file besides the reg marks.
Yep, my bad. There was no K on the page other than the K componenet of Registration. When I add anything with K I get marks on 4 plates.
That implies that there is no bug, and that there is some problem specific to cookie duster's system. I'd say the first order of business would be to try a prefs replacement. See Replace Your Preferences

  • Manual tile with bleeds doesn't print all crop marks

When I try to print out a manually-tiled print with bleeds, the top of the page doesn't print a bleed and not all the crops print. How do I resolve this?
    Michael

Were the crop marks printing on all four corners BEFORE you added "Include Slug Area"? In addition to adding the slug area in the print dialog, did you change the Slug Area values in the Document Set Up? Now that it works, is the printing scaled to a smaller size than before?
Trying to understand why that worked.
    Thanks,
    Al
