Printer D110 AIO incompatible cartridges

I finally fixed my printer to it is able to scan and print, but now when I attempt to print anything it gives me the error message that "The cartridge is incompatible with this configuration"  Tri-color, Black.  I tried that alignment and the cleaning option on the printer.  Both of them print test pages and they both did so successfully.  Does anyone have any idea how to fix this problem?  The cartridges are the original ones that came with it, and havent been refilled.

    Hey there @DeGraff!
Thanks for posting on the HP Forums!
I can see that you're getting an "incompatible cartridge" error with your new HP 670xl cartridge.  I am unsure if  where the product came from is causing the issue or not.  I can how ever provide some suggestions that may help resolve the issue!
Would you be able to provide the model number of the HP Deskjet printer you are working with?
To get the model number click here: Model Number
If you could post back with that info I would be happy to provide some help for that printer and its cartridges!

  • Incompatible cartridge cc=us

Why does my printer (HP Photosmart All-in-one, C4480) print 30 or more pages then stops and says, 'incompatible cartridges'? It does this about every 2-3 weeks!
    Confused printer,
    KaSandra

Yes, they are brand new Genuine HP Print cartridges.  When I click on the toolbox it showed that the ink in the was that was working just find when the problem started while printing this morning showed that it still had 50% of the ink in it and both of the new ones that I installed both showed 100% ink available and when they were installed the screen even stated that they were new, genuine print cartridges.
I did follow the steps that were given in that link for troubleshooting poor quality text before originally posting about the problem and that did not help either.  Have just done those steps again but it is not printing the black cartridge.   I might think that the 2 new cartridges were defective but the one that was in there when I first started printing this morning was working just fine and then stopped.  The 5th page I printed only had some sporadic black printing and by the 7th page it was completely blank which is why at first I thought that it ran out of ink.
Will try the step about removing the black cartridge for 2 hours however on step 4 of that link it says to not leave the cartridge out of the printer for more than 30 minutes or the ink can dry and clog the nozzles.  Yet, the step 5 states to remove it for 2 hours and then try again.  Will do this and see what happens.

    Hi @soie,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you are getting the incompatible ink cartridge error with your HP Photosmart c4780. I am happy to help!
Most likely by the description of your post, this printer is setup for the European Market, instead of the U.S. Market, hence getting this error message. You can try going through this guide, HP Photosmart C4600 and C4700 All-in-One Printer Series - A 'Cartridge Problem,' 'Cartridge Failed,'....

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - N911g - refuses to print with an exhausted cartridge (yellow)

    Hi,
I owned this printer some months ago, and I have already substituted the black cartridge some times ago.
In fact, I usually use the b&w option to print my documents, and I use very little to no colors, instead.
Before deciding to buy this printer I had read the printer guide, which reports (translated from Italian):
[Printing with one or more cartridges exhausted]
The printer can work with one or more cartridges exhausted. However, printing with exhausted cartridges slows the printing process down and lowers the quality of the documents printed. If the black cartridge is exhausted, blacks are not going to be really dark. If a color cartridge is exhausted, the result is in the grey scale. As soon as possible, replace the exhausted cartridge. Don't remove the exhausted cartridge before you can replace it with a new one. [...]
    (screenshot attached)
The downloadable user-guide reports (no translation):
[Color cartridge very low on ink]
To temporarily print using black ink only, click Cancel Print and then re-send the print job. The
Use black ink only? message appears before the job prints. The empty cartridges will need to be
    replaced soon.
    (screenshot attached)
So, when I decided to go for this printer, knowing I substantially use black only for my studies and my work, I did take care of reading the entire printer guide and look for these specific official declarations by HP on the printer functionalities.
Additionally, I took care of disabling any HP protection and pages control on the cartridges before installing them, using the printer menu.
Today, instead, I've found out the printer won't print with an exhausted yellow cartridge. This is what the message window says (translated freely, again, from Italian):
    [Exhausted cartridge]
    HP 951 SETUP Yellow
Replace the cartridges in the list to be able to print.
HP advises not to remove the cartridge until you have a replacement one ready for installation.
Buttons are: [Buy online...] [Cancel printing] [?]
    (screenshot attached)
[?] leds to the words I've reported earlier.
I still have the "print just with the black cartridge" option enabled.
I tried cancelling the print and sending the print job again multiple times, as it is described in the guide, but no "Use black ink only?" message appears.
Before invoking and thinking to the "fraud", I ask, how am I going to be able to print, then?

The manual indicates the printer can temporarily use black only once a color cartridge is low.  Once the cartridge is depleted it will need to be replaced, otherwise damage to the printed may occur.
HP and other printer manufacturers have different printer technologies for different needs.
Some have printheads built into the ink cartridges.  These printers can typically print with one or more of the colors completely empty, or even with color or black (but not both) cartridges removed. The Deskjet 6980 series is an example.
Other printers have separate ink supplies and replaceable printheads.  An example would be the Officejet 8600. The printhead in these printers can be replaced if they are damaged by running the printhead with colors out.  Some of these printers will allow printing with a color out, other will not.  If the printer is run without ink in one or more colors the printer may be damaged, but the user may be able to recover without having to send the printer for service.
Other printers have permanent printheads.  To run these without some ink in all the colors would risk causing damage to the printhead due to clogs, air ingested in the printheadvor burned out printhead firing resistors. The Photosmart 3310 series is an example of this type of printer. For printers with fixed printheads this could require service to get the printer to print properly again when the ink is finally replaced.
The document here describes how ink is used.  While the document is written for HP Inkjet printers the same principles apply to inkjet printers from other manufacturers.

  • HP 3510 All In One only printing blank pages after cartridge replacement

Recently replaced my blank ink cartridge after supply level showed low, and printed output looked faded.
Using genuine HP product - check
Cartridge supply level good - check
Powered on and off twice - check
Installed, removed, re-installed cartidges - check
    Good paper - check
Alignment prints blank page - does not print partial or low quality, just produces a blank page.
Printing from my computer, a word document, also produces a blank page - not parital - blank.
Was printing before the HP cartridge change.
Did I buy a bad HP cartridge?
    Any help would be appreciated.

Forgot to mention that I am not getting an error message either, except when I go through the motions of scanning the (blank) alignment page.  That error is related to the fact that it is blank though.
    Thanks for any assistance.

  • I have vertical lines when printing even after changing cartridges.

I have vertical lines when printing even after changing cartridges. There are no lines when copying, faxing or scanning, only printing. I have cleaned the glass, scanner and even dusted where the toner cartride slides in.  Any suggestions?

Sorry but I have worked on laser printers for over 20 years and never encountered your issue.  That is of course if you are explaining it correctly.  When you make a copy to be printed or print a reports page from the printer or send a print job to the printer, if in all these cases you get the line, then yes the issue is either the toner cartridge or the fuser.  If you make a copy to be printed and it prints without the line (Put original in adf, press copy button and print should come out), then you have one weird unit since it does not make sense since the print formatter on the unit whether making a copy or printing from the computer or unit itself uses the same hardware.  Now to test if the printed copy has a line then just put a sheet of paper on top of the feed tray and do a self test from the printer.  When the back edge of the paper enters the printer, quickly open the toner door to stop the printing.  Remove the toner cartridge and look at the image below.  If the defect is present the toner cartridge is the issue and if the image below does not have the defect, then the fuser needs to be replaced.  Best I can do.  Good Luck.

  • Can I print without both black cartridges???? HPC5380

This printer has 5 cartridge slots - black, blue, yellow, magenta + slot for large black.  I replaced the 4 normal sized and left the large one empty because I wont be printing at that volume and simply don't need it. Now I have an error message on the printer telling me that cartridge is missing and it will not let me do anything. I have looked around in settings etc and cannot seem to override this error and get on with printing.  I would really prefer not to have to buy the large black simply to use the printer! Can I override cartridge check or any other way around this???  Thanks in advance!!!!

You need the large black cartridge.  The small black is photo black, it only prints for photo paper selections.  You need to have the large black installed to prevent the black printhead from clogging.  It will normally be used for all black text printing.

  • Print with only black cartridge HP OfficeJet 6700 Premium

    Britt4:
I print 95% or more black-and-white pages.  Maybe 5% of the time I am interested in color output.  Same usage pattern for copying features.
HP seems to promote the fact that with individual color cartridges I "only have to replace the color cartridges that actually get used up".
"Perfect" ... I thought.  An all-in-one can sit in a small office and be used mostly for B&W, and every once in a while the color cartridges will be used (they'll last quite a long time that way, so I thought) and the copying needs etc. will also all be covered.
NOW after some time I'm starting to discover that these all-in-one devices evidently consume the HP color ink that I would buy while they are printing black-only output.  If I do a bunch of low-cost (so I thought) black output my color inks are evidently disappearing!   I thought maybe this is tiny and insignificant but I've found it more expensive.
I am interested in a solution so I can use only black-ink for black output (including business-quality black output) and when needed, a separate option to print in the color ink supply only when I want to print in color.
I DO NOT want to consume color ink to print black only-pages, which are much-more-frequent usage.
**** I need a workaround option to print with empty color cartridges when I am printing black output (thus use / install the color ink only for the periods that I want actual color output)?
Can you PLEASE help! ! !
    Thanks!!!

I'm in the same boat with my 6700 that I purchased recently (Dec 2013?). I've been using the setup cartridges for the few, mostly balck and white, pages that I have needed to print. I was printing a couple of tax forms and on the second one it refused to print, saying the cartridge was depleted. Fair enough, but it was rather inconvenient. I purchased a genuine HP black ink cartridge (832) for about $20 and installed it, but now it's reporting that all three color cartridges are depleted and need replacing. I tried removing and replacing them to no avail.
I have ordered a set of remanufactured cartridges from Printronix for about $12 and I hope they work. Otherwise I think I'm just going to sell this POS and get a cheap laser printer or ink jet from any manufacturer OTHER THAN HP. I understand the logic behind using some color ink with the black to keep the head clear and lubricated, but I don't want to spend like $50 for a complete set of cartridges and need to replace them again in six months of minimal usage.
Hewlett-Packard was once the premier line of electronic test equipment and I still have several that were made before the Agilent name change. And I've had several HP computers and have had some problems with them. But now I've become quite annoyed with the (lack of) performance from this HP printer and it looks like I'll be looking elsewhere for my next one(s).

  • Can I print using only 1 cartridge??

Hello. I'm using the HP PSC 1350 all-in-one and would like to know if I can print out documents using only one cartridge (Black 56) with this printer or do I also need to put in the color cartridge in order to print? At the moment, I only have the Black cartridge and want to know if there's a way to do this because I am unable to. If anyone else has had this issue, please let me know and if you need any other info from me, please ask. Thank you! Dezi4

    Hello ,
Welcome to the HP Community, and thanks for posting in the HP Forums! I would like to help you with your inquiry about printing with only one cartridge installed in your HP PSC 1315 All-in-One printer. The Single Cartridge Mode option is a fairly new feature, only a handful of older printers are capable of printing with only one cartridge installed. I've looked through the troubleshooting documentation for this unit, and it appears that both cartridges must be installed with at least some ink in them, in order for the printer to be functional. Otherwise, it is stuck in an error state and will be unresponsive to any print commands. I hope this helps!
