Printer deskjet 2540. start up. instructions are useless, help please

I've  just bought a new HP deskjet 2540, instructions are worse than useless, where do I get  a wireless test report, and where is the resume button???

Hi @geordygit ,
Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you want to generate a wireless test report as well as know how to resume printer function.  We can help with that!
First , please follow these documents to address your network configuration: Setting Up the Printer for a Wireless Network for the HP Deskjet 2540 and HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 2... & Printing a Network Configuration Page.
Also, here is a view of the printer's front panel with descriptions of the buttons and lights.  I am not able to locate a resume button.  Other models have a feature that allows resume when you open and close the lid.  You can try that to see if it works:
If you are still experiencing trouble after investigating these options, please reply back to this thread and we'll take it from there.
Thanks!

    Hi Alkaf,
    Welcome to Apple Support Communities.
It sounds like your iPad will not turn on. Take a look at the iPhone article linked below, it provides tips that will help resolve power issues for both iPhones and iPads.

Verify that the Sleep/Wake button functions. If it does not function, inspect it for signs of damage. If the button is damaged or is not functioning when pressed, seek service.
Check if a Liquid Contact Indicator (LCI) is activated or there are signs of corrosion. Learn about LCIsand corrosion.
Connect the iPhone to the iPhone's USB power adapter and let it charge for at least ten minutes.
After at least 30 minutes, if:
The home screen appears: The iPhone should be working. Update to the latest version of iOS if necessary. Continue charging it until it is completely charged and you see this battery icon in the upper-right corner of the screen . Then unplug the phone from power. If it immediately turns off, seek service.
The low-battery image appears, even after the phone has charged for at least 20 minutes: See "iPhone displays the low-battery image and is unresponsive" symptom in this article.
Something other than the Home screen or Low Battery image appears, continue with this article for further troubleshooting steps.
If the iPhone did not turn on, reset it while connected to the iPhone USB power adapter.
If the display turns on, go to step 4.
If the display remains black, go to next step.
Connect the iPhone to a computer and open iTunes. If iTunes recognizes the iPhone and indicates that it is in recovery mode, attempt to restore the iPhone. If the iPhone doesn't appear in iTunes or if you have difficulties in restoring the iPhone, see this article for further assistance.
If restoring the iPhone resolved the issue, go to step 4. If restoring the iPhone did not solve the issue, seek service.

Thanks for responding....but isn't your potential solution designed for Windows users? I have a Mac.
If it does apply to Mac, I am also hoping for something simpler as this could take weeks to isolate the problem and it would be more efficient to use another browser for mail
Also, I should have added, this problem occurs only occasionally and seemingly only when I am taking some time to compose a message

  • Why my hp printer deskjet 2540 can not syncronize with my powerbook g4?

    hello gentlemen apple tech.
    happy new year 2014.
tried so many times to print documents from my powerbook g4 to my ph deskjet 2540.  even i did download the driver from HP but, still nothing. please, help and what to do about?

Hello to you too! For starters, we are not Apple employees or technicians but simply end users like you who like to help other Mac users. But you have come to the right place!
First, did the printer work properly with the PowerBook in the past?
Also, what version of the Mac OS is running on the PowerBook? That can make a difference in figuring this out.

  • New printer Apple AirPrint - I'm lost, can someone help please, thanks!

Hi, I've just bought an Laser Printer HP1606pn, specifically so that I can print from an ipad, iphone and Mac.  I believe that eprint is a new function for this printer but I can't work out what to do as there don't seem to be any specific instructions.
At the moment, I have it set up to work on Windows 7 with a USB cable; however, I haven't a clue what to do to get the Apple products working with it.  Can someone help please?
    Thanks very much!

    Hi there Liz2,
Here are the steps you'll need.
    1. Airprint works on wireless or networked printers. Your printer is network capable - meaning, you can plug in a cat-5 ethernet cable from the printer to your home router, and then Apple devices will be to wirelessly connect to it.
    2. Once you have it connect to the router, you'll need to update the firmware inside the printer, to enable it's eprint and airprint features.
    3. When that is finished, here is the guide for how to print via Airprint: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=ca&dlc=en&docname=c02623193&lc=en&product=4110410&tmp...

  • HT201210 I tried to update to IPad 5.1, but when it finished and tried to restore the backup, it shows me that Itunes could not back up because a session could not be started with iPad. need your help please

I tried to update to IPad 5.1, but when it finished and tried to restore the backup, it shows me that Itunes could not back up because a session could not be started with iPad. need your help please

This has happened to me a couple of times and what I do is quit iTunes and restart my Mac and then try again and then it will work.
If iTunes has already created the backup, you should still be able to restore from the backup when you are connected to iTunes. Right click on the iPad name on the left side of iTunes and select restore from backup. After the process completes, sync with iTunes to transfer all of your apps, music, photos and other media back onto the iPad.

  • Cannot find wireless printer, Deskjet 2540 after we got a new internet provider

I  turned off the laptop, my ipad, my printer, even my router, still doesn't work. I went on the HP SCAN AND PRINT DOCTOR, it kept saying that cannot find printer.  Then I deleted the printer in my computer HARDWARE, try to search for the printer, it says cannot find printer.
I went on my ipad, my printer has a lock on it. But I don't know the password.
Look like my printer still connected to the old net work.
The printer work if  it is connected to the USB cable.
    What should I do?

Seems like the network has a password, or something along those lines, no? Maybe try restoring the printer to defaults to get that old password out of it if you cant rememeber it, adn then try connecting again.

  • Mac Pro won't boot to disk array after Mac OS 10.6.8 combo update. Array two partition are there, just won't start off them anymore. Help, please

My 2009 Mac Pro with Highpoint RocketRAID 3522 would no longer boot of the disk array as it had before. Boots off internal HD (still running 10.6.2), sees the array in the Finder, both volumes there pass Disk Utility Repair Disk tests, they show up in System Preferences - Startup Disk. TechTool Pro 5.0.7 sees nothing wrong with the primary boot partition. (didn't try the clone still with 10.6.7) **** frustrating. Tried reinstalling latest firmware for card. Nothing reported by the drives in way of any failure. zapped the PRAM, tried booting with option key, it doesn't show the array but two copies of the internal HD. Running out of ideas. Any out there?

I am having the same problem with my HPT 4321.  After upgrade, wont boot.  Shows up everyone as bootable disk (even when holding option at startup) but Mac will not boot off it.  I installed a fresh 10.6.8 copy onto a usb drive and HPT drivers work so might just be something to do with the main drive being bootable.  To complicate things, the Snow Leopard DVD doesn't have the drivers to see the array so cannot use it for troubleshooting.  It will not start in safe mode. Downloaded combo updater to try and re-update but it doesn't let you install it on another drive.  HPT driver installer doesn't allow you to install on another drive so also can't re-install driver.  Only choice seems to be install OS on new disk and recreate everything from scratch, then SuperDuper back to HPT drives and hope that it was a corruption during the update but not sure that it will boot even after all that work.
Anyone have a working computer with 10.6.8 and booting off a Highpoint RAID card?

  • Major start-up problems on IMac - Help, please

My IMac, new in Nov. 2008 and running OS 10.5.5 has been having trouble starting up and staying running over the past 10 days or so. I frequently get freeze-ups and get the grey screen with the flashing folder with a question mark during start-up attempts. I have tried various remedies I got on forums or in the Everything Mac manual including:
    unplug and restart
    remove peripherals and restart
    safe boot
    Reset PRAM
    Reselect Start-up Disk
    Permissions Repair through Disk Utility
    Verify Disk through Disk Utility
I ran the hardware test and it said the hardware was OK.
By doing one or another of these methods I can generally get the machine going again (sometimes very slowly and after a few tries), but the freeze-up and restart problems are persisting and getting worse. Today I tried to reboot using the Installation Disk, but it just ejected the disk.
I have Windows XP running with Paralels - don't use it often. Last time I tried it said something about a Fatal Error.
I have backed up most of my important data. I was planning to buy an external hard drive to back up the rest, but I'm not sure I'll be able to complete this at the rate things are going.
Advice, please? Should I just break down and take it to the Apple Store?

I wanted you to know I have been using Apple computers for over 2 decades now and this iMac was the biggest headache EVER!..it would even turn ME to a PC but I have other plans. How many times I had to carry this thing 15 blocks and then they had the NERVE to hand it back to me,once all they did was reinstall the software, I could have done THAT AT HOME!..once the manager of the store hands it back to me,"ALL PROBLEMS SOLVED"!..well they were not..from day one, this was a "LEMON" and no one seems to care, not one person I speak to, not one person in that store....I know computers pretty well, I don't know HOW to write programs but anything other than that, people come to TONY with their problems before Apple Genius bar..what a JOKE that turned out to be!..so here I sit with an iMac,the insurance had run out the day the HARD DRIVE of this iMac decides to stop working...I have NEVER in my life had a dard drive break completely because I am not a heavy user of my computer, no games..and now it's down to emails and my blogs..Apple has changed me but in the wrong direction sadly..I am and always will be an Apple person...I can visit ALL my old Apple comp0uters because when I get a new one, I give my neighbors the old ones..they are STILL WORKING lemom iMac just to check emails and see if I can get it to work but I will tell you the bad sign, very first year I had it, I threw out the box it came in,I live in NYC and as I am taking a walk, a guy is throwing out the box to the SAME iMac..and THEN came the discussion with him about the numerous PROBLEMS On the NEW iMAC!!..I knew right there ,besides me knowing already, it was one big lemon I was stuck with till the end...well the END has finally, thank the gods, come!...and my next computer will be an Apple but not for STYLE, I always went for their great design but Apple has their head so far up an appendage and all about this iPad and iPhone and then the computers come next....believe me, when they sell that many iPhones and iPads...little is done for the real computer customers..and I have NEVER used a cell phone, never had the use for it, so NO iPhone and no iPad cause i love my Kindle...but I will tell you ,I am designing my next Apple computer and it will be that TOWER and then any size screen, maybe two for some reason...and all wireless if possible..but that tower is the ONLY way to go for me but I will use it "low end" not for a business and it's not that ugly and can always be put on the floor BUT YOU DESIGN AND TELL THEM, what you want in it, so you have total comtrol..the screen does NOT even have to be an Apple...but money money drives this company now, while in the past it was the true happy customer THAT MATTERED!! no more...hope you stay with Apple, get a PC(borrow one) and work with it, if you have not cause this iMac is NOT the way an Apple computer should act and turn you off to our community...and that's the other thing, Apple users, used to be a "community" cause we were the "small company that didn't make it"!...so we all stuck it out for so many years....helped each other out
    Cheers..

  • MACBOOK PRO WON'T BOOT/START UP!!! help please!

I have never had any problems with my macbook pro until last night. I opened my mac and it didn't start up or come out of sleep mode like it normally does, I clicked the button and allowed it to restart but nothing happened. It made the usual booting up noises and the fan started but my mac never turned on. I let the battery drain and this morning tried again, it started up like normal until one of my cats bumped the power cord, the whole thing shut off and hasn't started since, I have tried rebooting it, letting what was left of the battery drain, and also letting the battery fully charge. Nothing seems to be working and I am completely frustrated because all of my school files are located on my mac. If anyone knowshow to troubleshoot or fix this issue, or has had this issue before and can tell me either how to fix it, or if I need to take it to a specialist please help. It's a macbook pro, I don't have the new snow yet, (I'm a bit of a broke college student) and it is an original from 2008. Please if anyone can help it is greatly appreciated.

    Welcome to Apple Discussions!
Does your 2008 MBP have the NVIDIA GeForce 8600M GT video chip? If so, you could possibly have this problem:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/TS2377
If you have access to an Apple Store, they can do a specific test for this problem, and if you have it, you will get you Mac repaired for free.
Also, here's an article that might help:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1573?viewlocale=en_US
If you hear the drive, it's possible that you could access your files from another Mac using FireWire Target Disk Mode:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1661
If you have to send your Mac off for repair, it would be a good idea to clone the contents of your hard drive onto an external drive. Sometimes they erase and reinstall the OS in the process of troubleshooting and if they were to do this, you would lose all your data. If you have sensitive information on your drive, you might want to erase it before sending in your Mac.
    Good luck!

  • Start Up in Safe Mode: Help Please

    Hi,
Have a late 2012 iMac and would like to start it up in safe mode.  I have heard that you press the shift key after the chime when you start it up, but have
not had any luck.  Can someone advise me as to how to get the computer to start up in safe mode please.
    Thanks very much.
    Alf

Okay. This all makes sense now. And why the OP originally thought after chimes. He is right. San Lewy, I always thought you couldn't do it through bluetooth as well. From CNET:
If any inputs are being sent via the Bluetooth keyboard before the controllers are active, then they will not be recognized by the system. However, if these inputs are performed after the controllers are activated, then they will be properly read. Therefore, for Bluetooth keyboards, be sure to press the desired key sequences after you hear the boot chimes and not before.

  • PowerMac G5 1.6Ghz not starting up... Help Please!

I've got a owerMac G5 1.6Ghz not starting up. I just came home and attempt to wake my computer from sleep. I just kept getting the spinning beach ball so I did a hard shut down. Now I cannot even get it started. I've disconnected all my external hardware and plugged the PowerMac directly to the wall as opposed to a power center and plugged my keyboard/mouse directly to the G5. The only thing I can manage to do is get to what I believe is called the "Single User" boot hitting command/s upon startup. I did a "fsck -fy" and I get a message somewhat as follows:
    Invalid extent entry
    keys out of order
    rebuildign catalog b-tree
    Invalid key length
    Invalid node structure
--The Volume "drive name" could not be repaired.
I did a hard shut down. I tried to start up holding "X" upon startup since I have 2 internal hard-drives and I get the gray apple screen with a spinning dial going on forever just hanging.
I also tried using my system install disc (Leopard) and get the same results... gray apple screen with a spinning dial going on forever just hanging.
Seems to the only thing I can do is hold Command/S but I have no idea how to navigate to get this up and running again.
Anybody got any suggestions. I'm thinking one of the drives... say drive "A" is shot, but is there a way to boot from drive "B"? I do have my older system OS X Tiger on that one. Just cannot seem to boot from that or even get access to it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. TIA

    Dale Weisshaar wrote:
Are you using your Intel version of 10.5 to repair the G5's 10.5?
No, no, no... my Mac 20" Intel 2.24Ghz is fine. I wouldn't be using my Intel system disc to use Disk Utilities on my PPC G5 tower. I'm only focusing on the PPC G5 1.6Ghz right now. I have gotten the Tiger drive (B) up and running fine now. I did get the combo update 10.4.11 and re-installed the update. I used my stand-alone Leopard installer for running Disk Utilities on both drives. Both results say that "disk drive appears to be okay". However, I still cannot boot to the login screen through Leopard drive (A). Only Tiger at this time. So while I am running the Tiger drive, I can see all the files on the Leopard drive. Working on backing some of those files right now. I will be picking up the latest DiskWarrior. Last time I used DiskWarrior was version 2 when I had the beige G3 boxes and indeed, they do work great. And version 2 isn't exactly meant for OS X. I just never bothered getting the DiskWarrior upgrades since because I've never had any drive problems until now.
There is just one thing that bothers me about using DiskWarrior on Leopard. See this link:
    http://www.macfixit.com/article.php?story=20071203100756482
However, as stated by Asloft, Alsoft recommends that you don't run DiskWarrior 4.0 while started from Mac OS X 10.5 Leopard. Instead, you should start up from the DiskWarrior CD. Which is what anybody should be doing when trying to fix any boot drive anyways.
So to cap this off, once I get what I need backed up from my Leopard drive, I will make another attempt to fix the directory on the Leopard drive. If that doesn't work, most likely I will try the "Archive & Install" option so I won't have to re-do all my personal settings and re-install my software over again. And if this doesn't work, worst case scenerio is to wipe and do a clean install on the Leopard drive.
Thanks for your input Dale, I really do appreciate all the fine folks that take some time to reading these discussion forums and helping out any way they can.

  • Start-up problems...help please

I was told my start-up should only last 10-15 seconds, but it takes at least 60 seconds for my computer to boot up. Is there anyway I can fix it to start up faster? what are the reasons it may be slower when booting up? thanks

It's possible you have too many applications opening when you start up. To see what you have go to:
    System Preferences-Account-Login Items
If you see non essential applications starting simply remove them by highlighting them and then click the - symbol at the bottom of the box.
Another possible (however unlikely) cause is your internal HD is failing. You can easily check it's status by running Apple Hardware Test. A less comprehensive test is to open Disk Utility-Highlight your internal HD-Choose First Aide Tab and see if the S.M.A.R.T. status is Verified. If it is the HD is probably fine, if it shows anything else then it's in trouble.

  • My credit in photoshop are blurred, HELP PLEASE, have a deadline

I am creating credits in PSD, save as PNG, 300 resolution and the fonts are blurred in FCP6

    A few questions....
How are you monitoring your video? With an external monitor? Or just in the canvas?
What is the pixel dimension of your psd image? Eg: 720x576, 1024x576. You must note that '300 resolution' means nothing in video-world, it's fine for print where dpi actually means something, but not in video.
What is the format/compressor of your sequence?
What are your final-delivery requirements? Is it for broadcast?
What font are you using? You need to steer clear of fonts that are too thin, and with 'serif' (little tails and flurries on the tips of letters).
How are you manipulating the psd file in Fcp? Eg, is it scrolling? Have you had to re-scale? Etc
Have you got your render settings all correct?

    Hi,
I have a cell (TotalTime1) that references two other time formatted cells (Start1 and Finish 1).
The below formula is intended to tell the difference between the Start and Finish time if they are populated.
I had it working without the HasValue condition but the formula was calculating when there was no value in Start1 and Finish1 (due to time format).
This is the code I do have, it says there is an error near the last line; I am sorry if I post this in the wrong manner, I have not posted on this forum before but here goes:
    if (HasValue (Finish1)  and HasValue (Start1)) then if (Time2Num(Start1.formattedValue, "HH:MM") < Time2Num (Finish1.formattedValue, "HH:MM")) then Abs (Time2Num(Start1.formattedValue, "HH:MM") - Time2Num(Finish1.formattedValue, "HH:MM")) / (60 * 60 * 1000) else 24 - Abs (Time2Num(Finish1.formattedValue, "HH:MM") - Time2Num(Start1.formattedValue, "HH:MM")) / (60 * 60 * 1000) endif
