Printer driver for Dell Photo Printer 954

I am about to give my Macbok Pro to a person with a Dell Photo Printer 954. I have been trying to find a driver for the printer to install on the laptop but it appears that Dell doesn't  make drivers for Macs. Does anyone have any suggestions as to how to get the Printer and laptop to work together?
Thanks.

Not surprisingly, Dell doesn't provide an OS X driver for it.  Assuming since you've asked it doesn't work, so you may need another printer. I've used Canon printers for years, and my curret MP560 AIO works nicely via wireless connection.

  • Driver for Dell 5110cn printer on Lion

I'm looking for a printer driver that will install and function on a Lion 10.7.3 system. The printer is a Dell 5110cn color laser printer that was end-of-lifed in 2008, and Dell is "slow" to support printers that aren't current. The Dell installer that is available will not run without Rosetta. (Maybe the drivers work OK under Lion, but how do you install them without using the Installer?)
Dell Support suggested I try Xerox drivers for their sister model, since Xerox has updated their drivers for Lion. I have installed those drivers, but find that duplexing and paper feed from the multipurpose tray are not supported. I've tried the Phaser 6300DN and the 6360DN drivers installed by the Xerox installer:  neither seems to support duplexing or the multipurpose tray, i.e., one may select those options in the print dialog box, but the printer will respond by printing on only one side of the paper that's pulled from the tray bin. Happily, it does print in color!
Does anyone have any insight or solutions for this issue? Thanks.

I can understand the tray call not working, as they often differ for each vendor. But duplexing is often the same call for all devices, so it is odd that this is not working.
What you can do is compare PPDs between the Dell and the Xerox. If the Dell is not installed on a previous system then hopfully you can take the old driver package apart and extract the PPD. If you cannot get the PPD then let me know and I can install on my 10.6 test Mac and get the PPD.
    With the PPD open you will see an entry similar to the following;
    *OpenGroup: Finishing/Finishing
    *OpenUI *Duplex/Duplex: PickOne
    *OrderDependency: 50.0 AnySetup *Duplex
    *DefaultDuplex: DuplexNoTumble
    *Duplex None/Off: "<</Duplex false /Tumble false>> systemdict /setpagedevice get exec"
    *Duplex DuplexNoTumble/Long edge: "<</Duplex true /Tumble false>> systemdict /setpagedevice get exec"
    *Duplex DuplexTumble/Short edge: "<</Duplex true /Tumble true>> systemdict /setpagedevice get exec"
    *CloseUI: *Duplex
If you compare the Duplex entry in the Dell to that used by the Xerox then you may see what each printer uses.

  • Missing kodak driver for 9810 photo printer

When I upgraded to Lion the Kodak 9810 photo printer worked at first. But I accidentally deleted the printer and when I tried to add it again it couldn't locate the driver. I've downloaded the driver from Kodak's website but it still won't show up when adding the printer. HELP!

    the adrian,
I spoke to a Kodak pro person and they are aware of the problem and he doesn't think Kodak will make a fix for it. He suggested I use the TEPS software which is free. I tried it and it does work, so at least I can use the printer.

Does it really surprise you that a company that only makes PCs does not support Macs?
The Dell site lists the printer language as "Host Based(GDI)". Translation--it won't work on a Mac or any Linux computer.

  • Reinstalling driver for Dell 1110 printer

The 10.5.7 update lost the driver for my Dell 1110 monochrome laser printer. I've been very happy with this printer for the past 18 months and am still on my starter toner cartridge, despite the printer telling me a year ago that I needed a new one.
FYI, this printer is actually a Samsung ML-2010 and you can get a driver here: http://driverscollection.com/?H=ML-2010&By=Samsung&SS=Mac%20OS%20X
If this link breaks, just email me and I'll send you a copy.
Dell should be ashamed for not providing this driver.

    Hi tediousregistration,
It looks like the driver version you were using is quite old and that could potentially be the problem. Using a driver that's coming up on 4 years old is bound to "break" at some point. It's just frustrating when it happens.
I did some digging on the Internet and I found some links to various versions of the driver, perhaps trying a new version might resolve the issue.
Unfortunately with peripheral driver versions, it's up to the manufacturer to ensure compliance with the OS. It's possible, as 10.5.7 is still very new that a newer version might become available which supports functionality in this revision of OS X 10.5
I also am including a link for Gutenprint. Although it doesn't list that model of Samsung as one of the support drivers, I find that open source community is often the best place to go for older (or not as a common) models.

  • Driver for Dell v305 printer?

I have seen earlier posts concerning this issue,  but was unable to resolve my problem. Recently bought a new iMac and am trying to hook a Dell v305  printer to it but haven't been able to find the right driver. Can anyone help?

Dell does not actually manufacture printers. They are re-badged printers from other makers. So it is possible that the other printer's driver will work.
A Google search on "Dell V305 Mac" suggests that it is actually the same printer as a Lexmark X4650. So you might try selecting that printer driver, if it is already installed, or going to the Lexmark support web site to download the Mac driver for it.

  • Install printer driver for a  shared printer MP520

    Hi,
I need to install the Canon MP520 (http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=116&mo delid=15483) printer to my MBP. The printer is connected to another a mac running OSX and is shared. I installed the OSX driver provided on the Canon page and I can see the shared printer in the network printers but when I am asked to choose the driver I can't see the correct model listed.
On the other hand, if I simply connect the same printer via USB, to my MBP it is recognized directly.
When I'm asked to provide the driver while adding the printer via the network, there is also the option to browse to the driver location. So my question is, where are the can I find the right driver on the OS ?
    Thanks in advance ,
    Tex

Reading your first post it sounds like the method you used to connect to the shared printer may have been incorrect.
When a Mac is sharing a printer, to add this printer on another Mac, you select the Default browser view. You should see the printer name followed by Shared in this view. When you select it, there should be no requirement to browse for a printer model. The queue should just be created with minimal driver options.
If you want to have all the features of the MP520 available to your Mac, then you need to install the same driver on your Mac as what is being used by the Mac sharing the printer. Check this carefully as Canon offers two drivers for Mac OS X and you can also use the free Gutenprint driver set for the MP520. If you open System Preferences > Print & Fax on the sharing Mac, select the printer in the list and look at the Kind section of the right hand pane, the driver version will be displayed. With a bit of luck the driver that was used to install on this Mac might still be available so that you can install it on your Mac.
Note also that you don't have to add the printer queue to your Mac to print to a shared Mac printer. From the majority of applications, when you select to print, you should find a Shared Printer option in the print dialog > Printer menu. This can be beneficial if you don't have a requirement to add this printer to your list, such as when you are visiting someone with Mac's. This doesn't sound like your situation but wanted to make you and others you read this aware of this fact.

  • Bonjour won't let me select an Apple print driver for an HP printer

I am trying to print from a Windows XP machine to an HP Photoshop 7350 printer attached to my Power Mac G4 using a wireless connection. However, when I try to assign an Apple color print driver in Bonjour Printer Wizard to the HP Photosmart 7350 printer, the Printer Wizard only allows me to select print drivers from the manufacturer HP.
How can I get Bonjour Printer Wizard to let me assign Apple drivers? I know they are somewhere on the XP machine, because I was able to use them in the Printer Wizard with a different printer (an older Apple Personal Laserwriter).

Hi Stephen. I think the easiest thing would be to
download the Bonjour 1.0.2 beta release from the
    Apple web site.
    http://www.apple.com/bonjour/
That release should have this problem fixed, and the
Printer Wizard will automatically select Generic
Postscript in your case which should allow you to
    print. Hope that helps.
    PowerBook G4 Mac OS X (10.4.3)
I've got the latest Bonjour on my XP machine and I'm attempting to print to an Epson SCX4600 on my Mac. I selected the default Generic PS. The test print goes to the CX4600 queue - attempts to print but doesn't and just stops the queue. I tried to start the queue and the same thing happens over. Any ideas?

  • Printer Driver for Dell AIO 942

I know this has probably already been asked many times, but is there a driver (or a solution/work around) for Mac for the Dell AIO 942 printer?

No, the Dell 942 uses a proprietary driver that only works on Windows.

  • Is there a univeral printer driver for HP Color LaserJet CM1312 MFP on Windows 7 64 bit?

I had bought a HP Color LaserJet CM1312 Multifunction Printer last year - up to now I could print out via the computer of my doughter (Windows XP), but now this computer is bugged and I would like to be able to use also my own Windows 7 64 bit Computer. Unfortunately the "Full solution" does not work at all, while there also appears to be no Universal Printer Driver for my special printer. In other words: I can´t use the printer and I am upset (HP at its best?).
Is there any way to get a printer driver that does what it is supposed to do?
