Printer Driver off line

I have two offices the same exact printer, HP Officejet 4630.  Both printers were set up wireless.  Every time I bring my laptp from office to office I can't print.  I have to reload the sofdtware, I get a message that the 4630 printer Driver is offline.  I have check in the control panel under devices and the printer is set as the default.
How do I get the printer driver online.  Thanks!

I tested this today, here are the steps.
Install printer #1 and get it working.
Open Devices and Printers and rename the printer to match the location.
Right click on the printer and click on printer properties.
Enter in the new name of the printer in the top box, the old name should already be highlighted.
Once you have relocated to the where printer #2 is at:
Run the install again.
Select to install a new device.
This will install another printer.
Rename this printer to match this location.
At this point, you will only need to either change the default printer when you switch locations or simply select which printer to print to when you want to print.
Automatically switching default printer to match the location is not something built in.

I can't print wirelessly using Airport Express.  I have my HP printer connected to a USB hub, and the hub to the Airport Express, but when I select the HP from the printer list, my MacBook says the printer is "off-line" - even when it is not.  I've tried several USB connectors, and several different ports on my USB hub; same result.  I need to have the HP connected to the hub 'cause from there it's connected to our desktop Mac.

  • How do I get my printer from off-line to on-line?

I installed my HP Photosmart C4380 on a network computer.  It prints fine from that computer (which runs on XP).  However, when I try to print from another computer, I cannot print because the computer is off-line.  I did not have this problem when I had Windows XP. I was able to select "on-line."   I now have Windows 7 on the computer I am having problems with.

What driver do you have installed on the Windows 7 machine? Do you have 32 bit or 64 bit Windows 7?
How is the XP computer connected to the printer - is it via USB or through the network?
Running the diagnostics at http://www.hp.com/go/tools may help resolve the issue.

  • HP4500 printer went off line. I can print the test page but nothing from the IMAS

Network down, re-set - now can't get the printer to function. HP4500 wireless.  Was able to print a test page but when I try to print from the computer I get the "printer off-line" message. I don't know how to fix this.

Try removing the printer from the printer list, then re-add it.
Are you sure you have the latest drivers?

My printer suddenly went off line.

Hello again pinks5, Thanks for getting back to me with the Windows operating system. I have done some research and I have located a document that deals with an 'Offline' Printer Status Message Displays (Windows 8).  If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest contacting HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. , : click here.  Thanks once again for your time.  Cheers,

  • Printer went off line can get back online

Wiewless 8500 went off line can't re-establish connection tried turning off and on printer as well as computer did not change off Line  setting How do I turn back on line?

This could be a router issue.  Reboot the router, then from the front of the printer: Setup > Network > Reset Network Defaults.
Finally, run the Wireless Setup WIzard from the same Network menu on the front of the printer.

  • Printer goes off-line for no apparent reason

<Repeat posting - I couldn't find "post new topic" links when I first put it up over the weekend - administrators please remove my post at message ID=8913195>
For about five days I have not been able to print over a home network from either an iMac (PowerMac G5, or an Intel-based MacBook Pro. My wife's WinXP PC prints no problem.
The first few times I tried, the printer progress bar would just hang at 98% complete, but now when I clear stalled jobs and try to print a new one, the printer goes offline within a couple of seconds. Clicking on "Start jobs" does no good, it just shuts off again.
I have installed security updates recently, but don't remember exactly if this was done since I last printed successfully. Can anyone tell me if the updates could be screwing with my printer connection and/or is there another explanation?
    Hardware and system information:
    1) Both Macs are running OS10.4.11 and both the PPC and the Intel machine behave the same.
    2) Both Macs are using their AirPorts to connect to the router, but when I rebooted I shut off AirPort and use ethernet for the iMac, it still goes offline as soon as I try to print.
    3) The router is an Actiontec MI424WR (from Verizon). I read some complaints about this before getting it in March, but haven't had any connection problems which I can attribute to the router.
    4) Both Macs ping the printer no problem. (Printer is configured with a static IP, and Boot IP and DHCP are turned off to keep from confusing the slow-witted Windows cousin.) System Profiler knows the printer is there (information displayed in System Profiler):
    Magicolor DL2430:
    Status: Idle
    Print Server: Local
    Driver Version: 1.3.0
    Default: Yes
    URI: lpd:///
PPD: KONICA MINOLTA magicolor 2430 DL
    PPD File Version: 1.3.0
    PostScript Version:
    5) I don't regularly share files between PowerBook and iMac, so I doubt this is due to a real security issue.

FYI - If you read through the details about troubleshooting the network, you will realize that this is not the "exact same problem" since your printer isn't recognized. Since you can print a couple of pages, I doubt it's a driver or the network, but in getting ready to call customer service at Canon, you might want to try a few of these tests:
    1) Launch System Profiler: click on the blue Apple icon in the top left corner and select "About this Mac" and then click on "More Info..." (lower button).
In the left-hand column of the System Profiler, toward the end of the Hardware list, select Printers. This should give you details of any recognized printer hardware. If it's there, the problem isn't a connection, so it ought to be due to printer setup or configuration.
(You can highlight and copy the information displayed, so you might want to save this in a text file and/or print it out. Tech support people can be remarkably resistant to recognizing information which tells them that you don't need to waste time making sure it's plugged in, checking your cables, etc.)
    2) Get your printer user manual and see how to set the network settings. Try what I did - set the IP address to a fixed number (e.g. 192.168.1.199) instead of using DHCP to dynamically reassign an IP # after reboot. Write this number down and remember it.
    3) Reboot your computer and router (some of this may be unnecessary, but we mere mortals never know which are required to get network recognition and which aren't) Now check your printing with a document with little content but which runs over 3-4 pages.
    4) Go to your Applications directory in a Finder panel and open the Utilities folder, then launch Terminal. At the prompt type:
    ping <IP number, i.e. 192.168.1.199 if that's what you set it at>
If you get a series of responses at ~ 1 sec intervals ("64 bytes from IP address..."), this confirms hardware and network connections are OK, and you should be looking at configuaration problems.
    5) Even though it's getting to seem like the sound of one hand clapping, keep checking back here. Also, try Canon if they don't want $70 an hour to tell you "Oh, we don't know much about Macs!) There may be one or two non Mac-allergic folks on their staff.
    Good luck!

  • When attempting to print Solution Center opens and says 'printer is off-line'.

The printer prints a test page OK when I go to Control Panel, Preperties, Print Test Page. Surely this requires the printer to be on line.

could you provide the community with a little more information to help narrow troubleshooting? Things like your printer model and your operating system help out a lot.

  • Why does my printer say off line?

    I hae a photosmart Premium C309A
It worked fine for a few weeks then IT STOPPED PRINTING OR SCANNING.
I have tried many times and I can't get it to print or fax.
I think it is HORRIBLE of HP not to have a functional phone assist since this is OBVIOUSLY
a recurrent problem since so many people are reporting the SAME problem.
So do I really have to uninstall, etc every time I move my lap top?
    wtf?
    I HATE HP.
I tried to use the disc print option and the soft ware is REALLY BAD. Like TERRIBLE. you have NO CONTROL over
the imagery except to drag in something already formatted, but then you have the SIZE problem.
I am a professional video maker and was excited about this machine. But I ended up having to buy an Epson to do the
discs as their software for designing the discs is completely superior.
WHAT IS REALLY UPSETTING IS THAT YOU HAVE NO PHONE CONTACT THAT WORKS. I SAT THROUGH TWO HALF HOUR PHONETREES AND GOT CUT OFF BOTH TIMES.
I WILL NEVER NEVER NEVER BUT ANOTHER HP PRODUCT.
    THIS SUCKS.

  • How do I get to print when my printer says "off line" ?

My HP Deskjet D4360 is plugged in and has 2 bars of colored ink and 1 bar of black ink showing on the printer; yet when I first turn on the printer, the golden ink drop flashes for 2-3 times and disappears. Does this mean that I still have to replace the ink cartridges now even though it shows bars of ink. When I go into the "help" area it said that ink levels are not available. Presently it isn't printing but haven't had a problem prior to this. Thanks.
