Printer drivers constantly becoming corrupt

We have a large mixture of HP and Ricoh printers in our environment.  They are all linked through a Server 2007 Enterprise edition print server.  For the HP printers, some of them do use the specific print driver and other use a universal print driver, also a mix between PCL 5 and 6.  Most of the problems are occurring on Windows 7 (we don't have many windows XP and they use a different print server)and we are just starting to see some of these problems on Windows 8 (just starting to deploy).  Here are the problems we are having:
1. Randomly the HP printer will stop working.  Everything appears to be correct on the server and the PC and it works fine from another PC, but it doesn't appear to be communicating to the printer at all.  You click Print in any application and it never actually does anything.  If you just delete and re-add the printer you get problem #2. To actually fix it, you have to remove the printer, go into Print Management and delete all HP drivers (on one of the Windows 8 device just removing the one associated with the printer didn't work but removing them all fixed the issue) and telling it to redownload the print driver from the server.
2. The HP printer will randomly or on first install start printing "strange characters" and will keep printing until the job is canceled.  Again we found that removing the printer and completely removing the drivers from Print Management and reinstalling the print will fix this.
These keep reoccurring with the same users and occationally new ones and we are starting to get bombarded with calls on our helpdesk.  Let me know if there is something I can check to try to prevent these drivers from becoming corrupt on the PCs.
Thank you!

Hello everyone.
I understand you having software conflicts on multiple computers. So I can assist you, I need to find out what printer you have. Please click on this website to find out this information: Model Number. (Only the printers that are experiencing issues please)
On each of the computers; do they all have different connections or the same connection? Please verify if it's wireless, USB or Ethernet connection?
Once I know the connection I can further assist you on your "unable to communicate with your printer" issue.
I have a HP document that will help you resolve your issue on Continuous Pages of Strange or Garbled Characters.
Look forward to hear from you.
I worked on behalf of HP.

  • Project Files constantly becoming Corrupt - CS6

    Hi,
I need all the help I can get. Ever since I've started editing on Premiere Pro CS6 (switch from FCP7) I've constantly run into the same problem. For every single project I have worked on, at least twice the project file will spontaneously become corrupt. There are no warning signs, it just happens at random when I open the project. I end up opening one of the auot saves but will usually lose time, and I should not have to rely on these backups as an everyday thing.
I've tried everything I can think of, I've gone so far as to load new harddrives in to my system. I've done fresh install of my OS (10.8.2) and fresh installs of the Creative Cloud. We use CS 5.5 at work with no problems and I've used PPro on and off since the very first Creative Suite and have never encountered an error such as this.
I've had absolutely no problems with After Effects, Photoshop, or Illustartor. Only PremierePro
    Thanks.
    Here are my hardware specs:
    MacbookPro (10.8.2)
    2.4GHz Intel Core 2 Duo
    GeForce 320M 256MB
    6GB RAM
120GB SSD (Holds only OS & Software)
    720GB HDD (scratch disk)
Codecs: both H.264 and ProRes at 1080/24p

The fix Adobe gave me was as follows (these are for a Mac but I'm sure archeticure would be similar on a PC)
    Go > Go to Folder > ~/Library/Preferences/Adobe
Now you will see a collective of folders for whichever adobe suite you have. Go to Premiere Pro and the next folder you should have should be labeled "6.0" change that to "60_old" or some random different label. Try opening up your original project (not the recovery proj) and see if that helps.

  • Preview crashes (and corrupts print drivers)

Certain actions with documents- opening, using and/or saving PDF Documents prepared and secured with Adobe (Live Cycle Designer) PDF software- really blow up OS X 10.7.2 and Preview. No warnings and/or restrictions to actions seem to affect those docs in Preview. However, nasty after effects can result (no Adobe pun intended). Besides crashing the app here's what else may happen:
Frameworks components affecting the Printer Driver may crash (in my case the HP Printer 2025dn stopped printing.
Typed in information disappears and is visible only in Preview and not in Adobe Reader or other PDF apps.
Later on, to fix the above problems, the printer drivers for the failed printer had to be reloaded and are not avaialable separately. I used "HewlettPackardPrinterDrivers2.7.2" available from Apple Downloads.
The System Volume became damaged and needed repair (Volume Info).
An example of this is any form downloaded from the IRS website. I have since set all these forms (in the GetInfo screen) to open with Adobe Reader X which seems to fix these issues and it allows the forms to be saved (which Reader 9 for Mac) did not.
    Be careful out there.

Send your form to [email protected] and I will have a look at it

  • Lost all printer drivers this morning

Went to print an AOL e-mail message and found that all of my printer drivers were gone.
The only one listed was to "One Note 2007" which is not even on my computer.
Went to HP and downloaded a new driver.
Ran a Norton review of my computer and nothing was found.  Tried
to ask a question in support and was kicked out of the queue twice.
AOL started a new mail system today.

I've been seeing this a lot over the past few weeks.  I can't narrow it down though...  I'm in the same boat!  I have several clients that use HP USB printers and they seem to lose their printer(s) every couple of days or every 2 weeks (depending).  Like I said, I don't know what it is but it's becoming an issue.  I've even gone so far as to reload the OS (WinXP), thinking it was a corrupt OS.  The printers just disapear now and then!!!

  • After upgrading to CS5, printing PDFs has become a nightmare!

After upgrading to CS5, printing PDFs has become a nightmare!
    For example,
    1. It would never finish printing the file, just the first so many pages. So...
    2. I updated the driver, and then I could print one copy only without problems. But...
    3. I can never print more than one copy of a PDF without collate mis-sequence problems. It just does not print one whole copy before printing the next copy. And it goes back and forth printing some of the first copy, then the second, then a few pages from the first, etc. Eventually it all prints, but they are mixed up sequentially. But some pages are in order.  And...
    4. It prints soooo slow compared to before.
    I upgraded from CS3
My printer is a Ricoh SP C420DN Color Laser Printer

All I know is that before I could print fine and fast and in any quantity I wanted (while using CS3 Indesign exported PDFs and Booklet Spreads on my latest and greatest printer, a Color Ricoh SP C420 DN).
But now, since I upgraded to a Master Suite of CS5, at first it would never print the whole file, even once. And when I upgraded to the Universal Print Driver, and or any other drivers, it will only print one copy of a PDF without mis-sequencing the printed pages, and it is so slow. It is worthless.
    Pat-
P.S. I think I need to try to call Ricoh or something, but will that work? Sigh!
Yeah, this sounds like a general print driver problem with the newer versions of the Adobe products, not just Acrobat or ID. Ricoh may or may not have an updated driver, but theyare definitely the ones to ask.
You haven't told us the OS... Some Mac users have had good luck, I think, using the CUPS drivers with problem printers when the manufacturer doesn't have a solution, but I'm a Windows guy, so don't do much with Mac printing.

  • Apple's Core Audio drivers have been corrupted?

Since upgrading to Leopard, my Alesis USB Multimix8 mixer has been increasingly getting more and more static output and has become about useless. After trying everything I could think of, I wrote to Alesis and this is what their support said...
"With Apple’s latest updated OS Leopard, it seems Apple’s Core Audio drivers have been corrupted and affects many class compliant devices such as the Multimix 8 USB which relies on these drivers. Until Apple addresses this with a fix, the best workaround is to back-down to 10.4.10, especially if this will be used in a professional studio."
Does this sound correct to anyone? Is theAudio Core drivers that bad on Leopard and is this something that Apple even plans to address?
    Thanks!

    Hi, everyone.
Alesis is VERY quick to point the finger at Apple for all their woes, but after my last experience, I'm thinking this is Alesis' problem.
At one time I was running my Alesis MultiMix8 FireWire and getting constant kernel panics while working on audio and video deadlines. As this was the famed 8-core (rolling off the assembly lines in May and all that) I was banging my head against the wall. It finally came down to me bringing in all of my office into Apple's Genius Bar at Tysons Corner, VA and trying to duplicate the occurrence.
The culprit was the Alesis driver.
When I upgraded to Leopard and the new Alesis FireWire driver, I have encountered no KPs or odd audio issues. Confident, I decided to try out the Alesis iMultiMix8 USB for the Second Edition of Podcasting for Dummies. I got a high-pitched whine/static when I tried working with the audio mixing between iPod and mixer. I returned the mixer and exchanged it for another one. Same problem. I then went and tested the iMultiMix on my PowerBook G4 running 10.4.11. Problem still existed. I wrote to Alesis and told them about the iMultiMix, asking them if this was a common issue.
    No response.
While Leopard has solved the issues of the KP and continues to perform like a champ, I have been talking to other friends working on both 10.5 and 10.4 having issues with Alesis mixers and USB-powered pre-amps. It sounds less of an Apple issue and more of an Alesis issue.
I think all we can do is wait for Alesis to resolve the problem they are failing to acknowledge is theirs. Not much of an answer, but apparently this the way things appear to be.

  • Quicktime file becomes corrupted only after transfer from a camera

I have encountered an unusual Quicktime-related problem with a customer that I cannot solve. This has been tested on two different cameras (a Kodak Zi6 and a Casio EX-Z80) to verify it is not camera related. The customer has also tested it on his desktop and laptop computers to verify it occurs on both. It must be confined to some specific piece of software he installs, because I've never run into this problem elsewhere. His two computers both run Vista.
    1. He shoots video.
    2. Opens Quicktime.
    3. Plays the video (AVI or MOV... doesn't matter) while the video RESIDES on his camera. It plays fine.
    4. Has tried taking the SD card out of the camera, putting it into his laptop, then playing the video while it resides on the card. It plays fine.
    5. BUT... the moment he transfers the video file to his desktop and plays it in Quicktime, it becomes corrupted. It does play, but the image develops all kinds of blockyness and distorted colors. It becomes useless.
Any clues as to which software program he is installing that makes this problem occur? I have hundreds of other customers who use these same cameras and have no similar problem.
    Thanks.
    Richard

The video file is able to be transfered to the hard drive of the computer and it does play with QT, but with blockyness and distorted colors, correct? That would suggest to me video card and\or driver. The reason being if the file was not supported by QT or WMP it would not even play. QT would produce error 2048 and WMP would inform it could not handle the file. But...
I would go to the Window menu of QT player and click on Show Movie Inspector to get some info on the video file.
salaminizer, makes a good point on the possibilty of NTFS\FAT32 file systems. Right clicking on My Computer>Manage>Disk Management will show info of HD's on the computer. Some bought computers will have a back-up Partition that uses Fat32. Which the video might be being saved to.
I'm thinking video card and drivers, but on two separate computers? So find out the video codecs. It's tough unless you have the same camera or what software came with it? Let me know how you make out.

  • 3 different HP print drivers from 7 Macs all running 10.4.6?

I am attempting to setup an HP Color LaserJet 3550, connected to the network via the included USB to ethernet print server. The printer does have a static IP address, but for now I am trying to setup the printer using 'Bonjour'.
From all systems, I go to Printer Setup > Default Browser, and select "hp color LaserJet 3550 (000E7FE922F3)". The Print Using menu defaults to Auto Select, and after a few seconds pops in the following, per system (again, all running Mac OS X 10.4.6):
    iMac G5 (20"): hp color LaserJet 1.4
PowerBook G4: hp color LaserJet 1.4.5
    iMac G5 (17"): hp color LaserJet 1.4.5
    iMac G5 (17"): hp color LaserJet 1.4.5
    iMac G5 (17"): hp color LaserJet 1.4.5
    iMac G5 (17"): hp color LaserJet 1.4.5
iMac Intel: hp color LaserJet 2.0
If it's not obvious, I'm wondering why the heck the same OS version has different print drivers for the same printer.
I tried HP's website for updated LaserJet 3550 drivers, and the only option that pops up is the LaserJet 1.4 installer. In the case of the 20" iMac above listing the 1.4 driver, I probably inadvertently overwrote version 1.4.5...
So, why is this happening and can I possibly update ALL of my Macs to version 2.0 of this HP driver sofware?
Also, I would like to believe that I can get better speed results if I setup my printers using the IP Printer method. I would love advice on that.

    7 different Macs   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

Hi Greg, thanks for the reply.
I went ahead and downloaded the 10.4.6 Combo Update and reinstalled it on the 20" iMac successfully, but curiously the driver remains "hp color LaserJet 1.4". I didn't bother reinstalling the Combo Update on the others that are already pulling up "hp color LaserJet 1.4.5" due to your comment about the Intel versions being "different" - I figure 1.4.5 is the latest version for the PowerPC code.
I also assumed my printer WAS a postscript printer, especially since, when adding the printer as an IP Printer > HP JetDirect - Socket > Print Using: Auto Select, it pulls up "Generic PostScript Printer" automatically.
I tried installing that hpijs software along with the ESP Gostscript software, and, using the IP Printer / HP JetDirect - Socket process, I can select "HP Color LaserJet 3500 Foomatic/hpijs" from the HP list. But, when I try to print anything to this new printer, the print job appears to go through on the computer, but nothing ever shows on the printer.
Anyway, it appears as though I am stuck using Bonjour with whatever HP Color LaserJet version the OS feels like using (1.4, 1.4.5 or 2.0). My next question would be if I can somehow setup the printer using the IP address and still use the HP Color LaserJet driver that seems to work. I still don't know if using Bonjour would be slower than a static IP setup...
Setting up printers in Mac OS X has become quite annoying.

  • Files become corrupt

    Windows 7 64-bit
    8GB Ram
    Indesign CS5.5 with all updates
    FIles:
small 20,000 word book (1 single document) with no pictures, from a Word file
500 page book (1 single document), with 20 small jpgs (about 2MB total), text generated from scans/OCR, inserted as unformatted text
various copies, new/moved, new/IDML, etc. generated as tests
    Problems
Several (all?) files created since 05/05 (the initial manifestation occurred almost instantly) have become corrupted. It either shows up immediately or takes around 6-8 hours
Things generally done with a mouse (click and drag to make a text box, resize a text box, copy or move text, placing the cursor to edit) become sluggish (reszing a text box could take 5 seconds to 17 minutes), jerky or sticky (click and drag a handle, release it, the frame edge might move (if and when it does) 0.125" or 6"
clicking and dragging text sometimes moves the wrong text or releases it in the wrong place
New text boxes have multiple columns although the columns setting is 1
Doing some things (e.g. click on export) cause InDesign to freeze
    Failed solutions
The suddenness of the problem made me think it could be a virus--tested the Word file (noted above) and my system:  found no malware of any sort
Changed the mouse: touchpad, Wacom Intuos, Logitech trackball (the Wacom tablet works 100% perfectly in Photoshop 32bit, but work only like a mouse in Photoshop 64bit--32/64 bit; drivers are current)
any attempt to go into InDesign security (as directed by a technician) fail: no permissions (my account has full administrate rights; a new admin account has full administrative rights) so whatever we could have done there, cannot be done
Exported the file as an InDesign Markup IDML, opened in InDesign
Moved content of file to new file
Creating a new file by moving or opening IDML, may not work at all, or will appear to work but the corruption re-occurs in 1-8 hours
    uninstalled and re-installed InDesign
I uploaded a file to technical support. They promised to call back three different time. They did not. When I have called, they say, "24-48 hours they will call back."
Thank you for any help you can give.

OK, so, I finally got a chance to read this through this thread. Can you post a link to one of the problem documents, or email one to me?
(Sorry, I had thought you had done so earlier, but I realized I just misinterpretted something you said).
Another thing to try, of course, is testing against CS6 (8.0.0.370). CS6 does fix a number of bugs and it's where engineers do development, so it's most likely to get easily fixed in CS6 before CS5.5, and there's a not-insignificant chance that CS6 fixes your problem already.
I think your best bet at this point is to try to isolate the problem and determine what about your documents causes this problem. While getting a new version of InDesign out that fixes your problem is not going to happen quickly (if at all), figuring out how to avoid the problem certainly is doable. After all thousands of people use ID every day and don't see this.
The best start is to get a minimal document that exhibits the problems (as few pages as possible). Once there, exporting it to IDML and opening the IDML in ID to confirm the corruption survives the IDML. If that's the case, then you can unzip the IDML and inspect it (it is human-readable XML) and try to determine what is unique/special about your document.
This might be a long odyssey. Of course, my experience is that putting in the effort is more likely to get you results than letting Adobe Support do it for you, but you might have a different scenario.
I don't want to make excuses for them, but I suspect what's going on is that the support people you are talking to are waiting for the higher-level support people, or even for Engineering, and they don't have good control over the timliness of those other people. But that's not an excuse for giving you callback estimates that are not met -- Adobe seems to have a serious problem with this and I would not give them a free pass for it. It seems to happen all too often.
If you totally get stuck you could try asking for the Noida Duty Manager and see what that gets you (Noida, UP, India is the location of Adobe's support center).
But realistically, I'm not sure that is going to make engineering work any faster. Maybe it'll just make them give you more realistic estimates for calls-back...

  • Fax printer drivers cannot work well through Microsoft SDK

When using Fax printer drivers and Microsoft SDK to print a txt file in WIN7 or WIN SERVER 2008 R2, open the generated tif file with windows photo Viewer, it shows error "Windows photo viewer can't open this picture because the file appears to be damaged,
corrupted, or is too large". We notice that, just more than two pages the issue can be reproduced.
And then we reproduce the issue in WIN8 with the same code, it works well.

    Hello Petter,
From your description, it should be that you code is ok since it works on win8, and the underlying driver the PrintDocument class called could be the caused reason due to different windows operation system. For this, I move it to the driver related
forum, since this forum is for .NET class libraires.

  • Purging printer drivers help

i am trying to PURGE my MacPro and MBP of printer drivers for a HP 8500 before I install a HP 8600 that was provided in replacement. However, the HP "Scrubber" Utility would not let me continue to scrub the machine of 8500 info because I had deleted the Printer from the Print and Fax preferences after following the first set of instruction. So i re-added the printer in Print and Fax Preferences and it is still not allowing me to do the "scrub". Then I was provided being information in #2 below, which did not seem to help.
Now I am being told to follow the information in this url under "Additional Information" (#1 below) http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3771
Does anyone know the proper way to "scrub" my machine of this old information which will apparently corrupt the new install if left around? I've had months of aggravation with the old printer and I would like to cleanse my computer of any of this info.
I have an Epson and the new 8600 and have the install CD's in both cases.
THANKS IN ADVANCE FOR ANY HELP.

    Additional Information
    To delete a Print Queue
Click the print queue you would like to remove from the list in the "Printers" pane.
Click the - (minus) button below the "Printers" pane.
Click "Delete Printer" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.
To reset the printing system (if necessary)
Control-click or right-click a print queue in the "Printers" pane.
Choose "Reset printing system..." from the contextual menu.
Click "OK" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.
AppleTalk-based printersAppleTalk is a protocol that is not supported in Mac OS X v10.6.  Many network printers have support for IP-based printing protocols that can be used instead of AppleTalk.  Please see the "To add a printer via the Print & Fax preferences pane" section for information about how to add a printer using IP.  Or, visit your printer vendor's website or contact your printer vendor for technical support. If your printer can only use the AppleTalk protocol, the printer can be used if it is connected to, and shared by, an appropriate AppleTalk-capable printer server.  Snow Leopard can then use that print share to print via a supported IP-based protocol.  See the "How to add a printer" section above for details about how to connect to a shared printer to your Snow Leopard-based Mac.
Upgrading print queues from Mac OS X v10.5 LeopardWhen you update from Mac OS X v10.5 to Mac OS X v10.6, Mac OS X v10.6 will replace all printer software and recreate print queues for any printer from these printer vendors:HP, Canon, Epson, Brother, Lexmark, Samsung, Xerox, FujiXerox, Ricoh (includes Gestetner, Infotec, Lanier, NRG, Savin)If you have a printer that is not from one of these vendors, Mac OS X v10.6 will migrate your printer queue from Mac OS X v10.5 when you upgrade.
If the print queue that you migrated from Mac OS X v10.5 has an issue, try these steps
Ensure the printer is connected, has power, has ink / toner, paper, and no alerts on its built-in display.
Network based printers should be on the same subnet; you shouldn't have to worry about this if your printer is on your home network.
Use Software Update for the latest available updates.
Delete the affected printer from Printer & Fax System Preferences, then re-add the printer.
If you still have an issue, try these extra steps:
Reset the printing system (see above). Then, add the printer again.
If the issue persists, reset the printing system (see above).  Download and install printer drivers from here.  Then, add the printer again.
If the issue still persists, contact the printer vendor and/or visit their website for printer software and support.

Note: I know these steps are very similar to the steps to install the 8600 SW over the 8500A, but in this instance, the 8500A software is removed, and only the 8600 software is installed. The 8500A drivers are installed from ASU, and the 8600 software is utilized for scanning, and HP Utility. These steps have been tested and confirmed to work for instances where installing the 8600 software over the 8500A did not resolve the issue.
Step 1: Run the HP Scrubber Utility
    Scrubber
    1. Open the HP Uninstaller (Finder --> Applications --> Hewlett-Packard --> HP Uninstaller)
    2. On the screen where you select your product, press and hold the Ctrl, Opt, Apple keys (all 3 keys in the bottom left of your keyboard) while clicking uninstall.
You should receive a warning message asking if you are sure you want to uninstall ALL HP Software.
    3. Authenticate with your user name and password.
    4. Let the scrubber do its thing, then click Finish.
Step 2:  Manually remove the drivers/software that were added from ASU (if installed)
    1. Open Finder
    2. Click the icon for your hard disk in the navigation pane on the left
    3. Navigate to /Library/Printers
    4. Delete the hp folder
    5. Navigate to /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources
    6. Delete all entries for HP devices from this folder.
    7. Empty the Trash

Oops. I found it with this part. Nevermind...
To reset the printing system (if necessary)
Control-click or right-click a print queue in the "Printers" pane.
Choose "Reset printing system..." from the contextual menu.
Click "OK" in the "Are you sure..." confirmation sheet.

  • Printer Drivers Disappeared

Does anyone have any idea why my printer drivers just up and disappeared. The Printer set-up utility can't find them. A search can't find them. I didn't delete them... I don't even know where they are (or were?).
    Thoughts?
    Thanks

Reloading can be a scary concept until you consider the alternative which is to not be able to use your system at all. I believe that your system has links/files that are corrupted/broken that have taken down your ability to print. It seems that everything is there but just not connected which makes me wonder what else is wrong.
As to reinstalling it is a no brainer if you are backed up. EVERYONE should have a cloned system as a minimal back up. Consider that your main hard drive will fail sooner or later and will leave you with few alternatives.
You can back up your user files to cd/dvd which is good but still leaves you with days of reloading and re installing systems and applications if your hard drive fails.
The best way to keep going without a hitch is to have a hard drive with a clone or two on it. You can test solutions to problems on a clone. If it does not work then trash the clone and reclone. You can start your mac off a clone if your main drive fails and keep working. If you have never had a drive fail or an upgrade that trashes your system then you don't see the benefits of cloning/backing up. The day a serious problem occurs then you will realize what I am talking about.
If I was suggesting that you archive and install without any back up then, yes, it would be scary. If you are fully backed up then there is no risk. The only way that I know of to be Fully backed up is to clone. It requires an external hard drive for a laptop but you should have one anyway. I believe that your ppd exists but is not where I told you to look.
Click on the desktop and do a "command f" to bring up the find/sherlock window. You are going to look for CUPS but first have to expand the search to look for invisible files (use the + sign in blue) and add the visibility is....
Put CUPS into the file name field and with visibility set to invisible you are ready to search. You should get a lising of files that have cups and are invisible. One has the parent folder of Share. Double click on that folder.
You are going to look to the following path:
/share/CUPS/model/C/the model of the printers that you are looking for.
In your case it will be escp2-750.ppd.gz (which stands for Epson Stylus Color Printer). If you find it then your library has the printer description but the connection to it has been corrupted. The question is now what else is messed up and waiting to take down your system to the point that it cannot be used.
I would get the backup drive big enough for 2 clones of your hard drive, partition it in half. Clone twice and practice on the clone. If you trash the clone you still have 2 copies of your system. You can always trash a clone, reclone, and work on it till you get it right. If my suspicions are correct, some future update of your system will make it unusable because of what has brought you to the Apple forums in the first place. You are sitting on a ticking data bomb. At this point you have a chance to fully prevent any loss of data and use of your computer.

  • Can SCCM delete print drivers?

Can SCCM remove print drivers from a deployed PC?
I may be in the wrong community.  If so, please point me in the correct direction.
We have roughly 400 printers installed on Server 2012 R2.  We are implementing a new Windows print solution due to our 2008 R2 cluster's erratic behavior.
We created a one node development box that is in place for now.
When we switched from the cluster to a stand alone solution, we had about 150 drivers that became corrupted and would not print until we performed a number of steps to remove the "broken" driver package and replace the driver of the same type from
    our driver store by hand.
    1. Select affected printer, go to local driver store to note location of the print driver files
    2, Delete existing printer
    3. Stop spooler
    4. Delete driver files
    5. Restart print spooler
    6. Run GPUPDATE /FORCE to reapply the printer with a working driver.
Before we go live with our new solution we would like to remove the driver and package using SCCM if possible hoping to avoid the same situation.
Our current deployment method is using Security Groups (memberships) and separate GPOs to push the assigned printer to the proper Windows 7 32 bit OS PCs.
    Any ideas?

The simple answer is If you can script those task then CM07 and deploy it out to either computers and/or user.

  • Text in web pages becomes corrupt, temporarily fixed by selecting & deselecting.

When reading text part of it becomes blocky & unreadable. If I select the text then deselect it, it becomes ok for a short time but soon becomes corrupt again. Only sections of the text are affected at any one time, but it is very frustrating. It's even happening to the text I'm typing at the moment. I've tried several of the suggestions given but to no avail.

hello samgill, this sounds like an issue with hardware acceleration - please try [[Upgrade your graphics drivers to use hardware acceleration and WebGL|updating your graphics driver]], or in case this doesn't solve the issue or there is no new version available at the moment, disable hardware acceleration in ''firefox > options > advanced > general''.

  • How to uninstall print drivers Canon MF4150 issues

Hello all, I am having a nightmare of a time getting my Canon MF4150 to print. It looks from all of the threads on here it was a less than ideal choice for a Mac owner.
When I first bought the unit I managed to get it to print, everything seemed peachy.
Problems arose when I wanted to use the unit to scan. I downloaded a variety of third party software and drivers in an attempt to get the scan function working. I had mixed results, and this process seemed to upset the printing side of things. Once I scanned a document, the printer would then not work.
I abandoned the idea of scanning through the MF4150 and have gone back to dedicated Epson scanner.
Since then I have not had any luck getting the printer to print again.
I have gone through all the MF4150 related threads on these boards I can find, and followed the process to installed outlined here - https://discussions.apple.com/message/7657893#7657893 but to no avail.
I really just want this thing to print and it's driving me nuts.
I have the printer attached directly to my MacBook Pro running 10.5.2. I'm not trying to print through the Airport.
I would like to know how to completely uninstall any UFR II drivers and related software / information and start this process from the beginning again.
So far, using the answer provided by PAHU here https://discussions.apple.com/message/7657893#7657893
    I have -
    1. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax
    > DONE
    2. Select the MF4150 printer and press the minus " - " button to remove the printer. Do the same to any other printers that are in the printer list.
    > DONE
    3. Hold down the Control key and click in the empty printer list. A window showing 'Reset printing system' will display. Click this.
    > DONE
    4. Close the Print & Fax utility.
    > DONE
    5. Run the Canon UFR2 v1.70 installer and select Uninstall when the Easy Install menu appears
    > This is where I get snagged. I'm not offered a Uninstall option. I have attached a screen grab of the window I am presented with. I am currently trying the "o1141enx_m_ufr224" version of the UFR driver. I have continued to complete the points below regardless of the fact i cannot uninstall.
    6. Restart the Mac and run the v1.70 installer again to add the UFR2 files back onto your Mac
    7. Go to Applications > Utilities and open Disk Utility. Select the Mac OS X partition in the left pane and select 'Repair Disk Permissions'. When this has completed, quit Disk Utility
    8. Open Print & Fax and add the MF4270 again
    9. Open TextEdit, type some simple text and select to print.
    10. Report back if the above doesn't get you printing.
I have also attach a screen grab of the process I go through when adding the printer.
Any help with this would be amazing. I've tried everything I can think of.
My latest idea is to try and remove any trace of previous printer drivers and go from there. You can see in my list of available drivers in the file attached I now have all sorts of UFR drivers in the list.
Again, if anyone can throw me a line on this that would be great.
    Thanks & Regards
    Coz

    Hello Coz,
It's been a while since you've posted, I hope you have not given up.  I was having grief with my MF4150 as well, but got it working.  There is a more current driver - search for Mac_UFRII_V230_uk_EN and install it.
Then, when you go to add your printer through System Preferences > Print & Fax, make sure you click the "default" icon in the top of the dialog.  It should show your Canon MF 4100 series , then use the bottom drop down menu to choose your driver and select Canno MF410 Series UFRII LT (UK) from the list.
