Printer for printing directly onto dvd's

Can anyone provide recommendations on a printer that will print directly onto dvd's and is compatible with the macbook pro? Best Buy recommended a cannon for $100 and he said it is wireless and compatible. Thoughts?

To be a little clearer, your printer may accept the disk for printing, but the page size will still be a paper size, rather than something that says "DVD" or "CD". The documentation for your printer should tell you what the settings should be, and how to adjust the placement of the image so it is centered on the disk.

  • Best printer for printing DVDs

    I've been an Epson user for many years. But I've always had mixed results printing on discs. Lately my printer rejects the disc about 4 out of 5 times I attempt to print. I have the stylus Photo R340.
    The Epson software & support seem VERY dated.
    So what is everyone using to print DVDs?
    Any advice would be appreciated.
    Thanks
    g

    After putting up with an Epson Stylus Photo printer for several years and dealing with lots of poorly printed and ruined DVD's using this printer. I recently purchase a Canon IP4500. Canon printers sold in the U.S. (for licensing reasons) do not (out of the box) support printing to DVD. The Canon printers sold in the U.S. ARE capable of printing to DVD's. By using Google and eBay I was able to buy an inexpensive tray for loading DVD's and inserting them into the IP4500 and find a video showing a few easy steps that reprogram the Canon IP4500 for printing to DVD using Canon's PrintCD software. This took less than 10 minutes to do and was very simple.
    I have now printed over 30 DVD's with the Canon IP4500 without a single problem. It just works, perfectly every single time! I purchased the printer from Amazon, the CD tray off of eBAy, and found the video on how to prepare the printer for printing to DVD's online using Google. I highly recomend going this route.

  • How to set up postscript Printer for printing graphics

    We have a requirement to print Structured graphics. I found out that we need to set up a postscript printer for it. After debugging I found out that the Device Type name should be either GRAPHICS or POSTGR or ZGRAP.
    How can we set up such a printer?
    Thanks in adv.

    Hi,
    The Device Type names that you have provided are not listed in the SAP Central Note for Printers/device Types
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/8928
    However, you can again re-check this note with your printer model and check what suitable device types should be used. As you will find inthis note:
    "Device type definitions are stored completely in tables and can be individually adapted, modified or enhanced. If SAP performs such an adjustment for a customer, it constitutes a consulting service, and is generally charged seperately"
    SAP has now released the SAP Printer Vendor Program - https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1130927, printer manufacturers can develop and release device types for their printers.
    https://service.sap.com/sap/support/notes/1100779 contains a list of all participants
    Information about the support for new printer models is contained in the "Printer Vendor Wizard Note" of the relevant manufacturer. A complete list of all "Printer Vendor Wizard Notes" is available in Note 1097990. If your printer model is not listed in one of these "Printer Vendor Wizard Notes", proceed as described in Note 1103826.

  • Using LP01 printer for printing smartforms in BSP

    Hi fellow BSPers,
    I have developped a BSP application in CRM which allows users to have a consolidated view on the data in an order.
    Also there is a button which can print a smartform of the order using the PostProcessingFramework of CRM.
    It works great but...
    For printing the user needs to use a printer which is defined in the system.
    As expected most users would like to print on the printer they defined in windows as their default printer. From SAPGUI this can be done using printer LP01 which sends the spool to the client printer deamon.
    Does anybody know how I can use this deamon via BSP?

    I hit similar requirements in the past.  You can't use LP01 because it needs the Gui Framework to communicate with the frontend of course.
    I like the solution of converting the SmartForm (or Sapscript or Adobe Form for that matter) to PDF.  I then display the PDF out of the BSP application (there are several weblogs on different techniques for displaying PDF and Non-HTML documents - I like the ICM Cached Response and IFrame approach).  The user then can print the PDF with their local printers (or email the document, or save it, etc).  This give considerable flexibility.

  • How to stop auto from-feed on a dot matrix printer for printing only a single line of data at a frequency of 30 seconds

    Hello friends
    In a particular application, it is required to print a single line of data on a dot matrix printer (continuous sheets) at a frequency of 30 seconds. That is printing is to be carried out line-by-line on the same form without a form feed.
    We are facing a problem of a form feed after printing of each line. Kindly help me to solve this problem of auto form-feed. How to continuously print at a regular interval without from-feeding.
    Shahid Baig

    Is this printer connected to a network?
    You may need to look at the printer manual to see if there is a setting for a form feed.  I remember when we had a dot matrix printer on the network about 12 years ago, there would be a network timeout setting of something like 30 seconds.  So if you didn't continue to send data, the network will end the print job and send the file to the printer which would auto form feed at the end.  Many of our basic programs had to be rewritten because they would do an LPRINT periodically, if you took along time progressing through the inputs, you would easily hit the 30 second timeout.  So all the programs had to be rewritten to save the data to be printed to a file, and only once you execute a print command, it would read the file back in and Lprint it (or a Print#1) to the LPT port.
    Since the printer was on the network, and basic could only print to LPT's, we had to use a net command to capture the LPT1 port and direct it to the network queue.
    I don't remember all the details, but those are the bits and pieces I do remember.  I think the answer to your problem lies in there somewhere.
    Namely:
    1.  Printer setting to auto form feed.
    2.  Network setting that closes print job after timeout period.

  • Unable to specify printer for print jobs in Java7 for OSX

    Hi, I'm developing a simple software that would monitor a folder for new documents and print them automatically. Monitoring the folder was the easy part with WatchService in Java7, but I'm running into problems with printing. Namely, I'm using java.awt.print.PrinterJob to print the document, but the print job is always sent to the default printer, instead of the printer that was specified.
    PrinterJob pPrinterJob = PrinterJob.getPrinterJob();
    PrintService[] psArr = PrinterJob.lookupPrintServices();
    for (PrintService ps : psArr) {
    if (ps.getName().equalsIgnoreCase(specifiedPrinterName)) {
    pPrinterJob.setPrintService(ps);
    break;
    PrintRequestAttributeSet pras = new HashPrintRequestAttributeSet();
    //specify print attributes....
    pPrinterJob.print(pras);
    The code looks simple enough, and calling getPrinterService() returns the intended printer after specifying it using setPrinterService(). However, regardless of the printer specified, the print job is still sent to the default printer. Tried on both Java 7 Update 4 and Update 6 for OSX with the same result.
    Update: Got my hands on a Win XP machine and tried out the same piece of code using Java 7 Update 6 for Windows. Guess what, the print job was sent to the specified printer! I'm pretty sure this is an OSX specific issue now. Has anyone come across this issue previously?

    Hi,
    I have the exact same problem on OS X 10.8.2 with Java 1.7.0 Update 21.
    When I call PrintServiceLookup.lookupPrintServices(null, null) I get three distinct printers, but no matter which of the three I specify, the print job is sent to the default printer.
    The code works as expected when tested on Windows and Linux machines.
    Any help is appreciated!

  • Issue while selecting the LOCL printer for printing the form

    Hi all,
    I have created  the PO form and it is working fine.
    I am facing one strange issue.
    I am displaying the PIR text and item text in the form.
    When i do the print preview the PIR text and Item text is displayed but when i create the spool for the same PO by
    giving the printer as LOCL these text is not displayed.
    I am not getting why it is coming when i do the print preview and why it is not coming while creating the spool.
    Kindly help.

    Hi,
    You did not specified the form Type whether it is a smart form or Adobe form.
    If it is the Adobe form LOCL is not supported if the printer specified to LOCL is not supporting the PDF forms.
    Better use LP01 or any other Printer which support the PDF forms.
    Thanks.

  • Email attachment from spool...not to go on printer for printing

    Hi,
    I am sending email attachement whenever I find email address on customer. To send email I am reading from spool and then sending.
    My requirement is I should not send the document for regular printing whenever I find email of customer. Since we are already sending the PDF to customer.
    But right now in my program both printing and sending email is happening. How to stop printing when I find email ID of customer?
    Thanks

    Hi,
    in your print program try to set the attribute TDNOPRINT of the OUTPUT_OPTIONS (structure SSFCOMPOP) with X in case you find the email.
    Cheers.

  • Contact Prints for printing in a  Photo Lab

    I want to print my contact prints in a photo lab, not in a printer.
    How can I do it? The only way I have found is to save them as PDF, but this is not a good way.
    Regards.
    Guillermo

    Aperture does not export contact sheets in any other format than PDF as far as I know.
    A quick work around would be to export smaller versions to a desktop folder and then create a jpeg contact sheet in an external editor such as Photoshop

  • Printing a report directly to the printer on the client machine

    Hi All,
    I am migrating reports from 6i to 10g, all these reports are called from menu and some from forms. There are some reports which are directly sent to the printer for printing. My question is when we run those reports that are sent directly to the printer from OAS, Can we make it refer to the printer set up on the client machine?. Can any one let me know regarding this?.
    Regards,
    Prasad.

    Check out the orarrp utility (Oracle Reports Remote Printing Utility) on Metalink, note 277431.1.
    It may be easier in the end to set up printers on the OAS. I guess that client PC's are using network printers, or are the really using printers connected directly to the PC?

  • Officejet Pro 6830 all in one - screen stuck on "checking for printer updates"

    Windows 7 X64 install
    I ran through the entire installation process and while the printer will print and will scan - the printer is hung on the message "checking for printer updates" with a red x below that message.  I let it set all night and no change.  The printer is setup as a wired network connection and can be seen with any of the tools.  I have not errors on my system.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled twice without success.  I tried running a firmware update, but the firmware update states that I have the latest firmware rev.  I even unplugged the printer and plugged it directly into the wall - n o change.  Evertime I startup the printer screen, just hangs on that screen.
    Please help.

    I have the exact same problem with my new HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer.  Please could you provide a solution else I guess it will have to go back to the shop as I only picked it up this afternoon.
    Setup went ok and it even managed to print a couple of pages.  But next time it started up (with wired ethernet connection) this problem occurred and happens every time ever since.  (It is possible to use the printer for printing and scanning via PC, but the whole time its display is showing the "checking for printer updates" message.)
    This even happens if the ethernet cable is not connected on startup (meaning the printer cannot be used as a standalone printer / copier either at the moment).
    If I press the red cross (which I guess cancels the update searching) then I get a blue screen saying "B871634E" for a second or so, afterwhich I get a black screen with the message "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On." and cannot do anything else.  (The problem is the same after doing a printer off then on - even when following the "hard reset" procedure already mentioned.)
    On checking the firmware version via the PC utility (while the printer sits there "checking for printer updates"), the PC utility app reported that the firmware was the latest version.
