Printer Friendly Pages is NOT printing what I want

So I tried to use the 'addthis' and added it to the main content div. However, lists, bullets, etc. are not printing as expected. I am seeing "code" for example if I try to print on the main page (though on the main page there is not a lot of 'content').
I could add it to the individual content page layouts, but it is still not printing summary links, or other lists the way that I want.
I just want to print the content on the page. I am thinking jquery or writing a CSS for print. I really want to use the addthis and this is making me think I did something wrong. Any ideas on the best approach for printing "printer friendly pages"
on SharePoint 2010?

Printer friendly output does not print region borders

I am using theme 10 i have set up a printer friendly template which has a report region in it. The printer friendly page displays correctly on the monitor, but when i print the page the region borders are not printed. I only seem to get the corners of the region printing
same thing with the region title only the sides of the border are printed.

Have figured it out...
you have to set the following option in your browser.
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
in the Printing section check the 'Print Background colors and images' box

Since upgrading to ver 8 headers and footers on printing web pages do not print; typing response is terrible, type 20-30 char before seeing them; my PC or Firefox 8?

If I do an end task on plugin_container using Windows task manager, the typing response problem seems to go away temporarily. However, the plugin_container process soon restarts itself and the typing issue returns. It has happened four or five times while typing this note. Sometimes I start typing and the display of characters typed does not appear or while typing an displaying what is typed normally all of a sudden stops being displayed and eventually is displayed all in a blast of characters.
When I try to print a web page, the header and footer info that I have selected show in the print preview but disappears when I print the page and does not print on the hard copy.
I believe that both of the above situations began when I upgraded to Firefox version 8.
I tried to search for problems like the above with Firefox but could find nothing.
I tried all of the above in IE and IE works as it has in the past.
Is this a Firefox issue with version 8 or is there something wrong with my PC all of a sudden?

I tried what you suggested as far as checking the theme (it's "Default 8.0") and deleting the sessionstore files (there was one .js file, one -1.js file and one .bak file). I still have the same slow response problems (especially typing, it has gone dead on me for a short time twice while typing this replay so far, now a third time) and lost of headers and trailers and some data.
I did the suggested actions three times just to make sure that I was doing them correctly. On the first try, the sessionstore.js and sessionstore-1.js was more than twice the size of sessionstore.bak. Since doing what was suggested, the sessionstore.js and sessionstore.bak are, I believe, the same size. I did not write down their size is why I am not certain.
The printing problem appears to only be with one website which is an investment website which I would prefer not to document here. I print from this website each weekday and I have confirmed that the printing problem started when the upgrade to version 8.0 occurred.
I need a solution to this or I am going to either go back to IE (Ugh!) or find another browser. The typing delays are an extreme annoyance since I do lots on the Internet including a lot of emailing. The delays also involve the buttons to select functions within a website.
Is there a way to get back to the version previous to version 8.0?

Thanks so much for your guidence and I'm sorry in the delay with following up with this issue. I've followed your instructions and still cannot get the pages to align properly – page 1 still stands alone after changing things in the document setup menu item, and when I go to print booklet, the formatting insists on adding blank pages, even though i have 56 total pages in the document (which is divisiable by four, and includes some blank pages i added to the document, namely page 2, and 56, so the front and back covers don't have text printed on the opposite side of the paper – this comment also responds to John's post, namely that i do already have the front and back of my cover in the document).
I suspect one problem may be that is that I started a new numbering section on page four of the document, so i could build a table of contents appropriately (have the pages start numbering "1" after the table of contents). But even if I put page numbering back to automatic it doesn't begin the document with "facing" pages.
To further illustrate my confusion, I'm enclosing some screencaps. The first is just a screenshot of the document formatting as you had suggested i switch it to. Here i'm illustrating how the pages aren't facing.
The second is a screenshot that shows the end of the first section of numbering.
The third screenshot shows the beginning of the new section of numbering, also explaining why I have numbered the pages this way (so page 1 can be an "About Us" entry in the table of contents.
Any advice or suggestions you have would be greatly appreciated,

SCRIPT: second page is not print but need spool number

I'm creating a script. It has only one page. if the line item is exceeds in main window then it automatically print the next page.
now my requirement isgiven below
I need to print the first page and the second page should not print. But i need seperate spool request for 2nd page. whenever the user wants second page at that time he use the 2nd page spool number to take the print.
is there any solution or alternative method?

Hmmm if i knew your exact requirement i would be able to propose something better i guess, since this seems a little weird to be honest.
E.G. having a own output type for your page 2.
Anyway, returning to what you asked. You opened your form using FM OPEN_FORM. and when you are ready you use CLOSE_FORM to close it again.
You could make use of END_FORM followed by START_FORM when page 2 is to be printed.
This will give you page 1 and page in seperate spools.
you could as well close your form and open it again with ITCPO-TDNEWID = 'X' inmstead of using end_form and start_form.
But still i highly doubt that complete scenario.

Printer-Friendly Page

My JSP needs to generate a "printer-friendly" version of a page.
1) As you know, the JavaScript print() method prints the page currently loaded in the browser. Can I, in my "Printer-unfriendly" page, have a Print button, which on click, calls a JSP/servlet, generates a "Printer-friendly" page BUT DOES NOT LOAD IN THE BROWSER, but prints? Or do I have to show the user the "Printer-Friendly" page before printing it?
2) What are the points I need to take care in order to make an HTML page Printer-friendly?

I, just recently, made this kind of page you're talking about and didn't find a simple and good way of achieving this through anything but a simple print-friendly page.
I did it using
# body-onload triggers the print() function
# through some logic (counting html lines) in the page I inserted the folowing html code to achieve
page breaks in the printed document:
<p clear=all style='page-break-before:always'>
# After the print method I forwarded the client to another page (which will happen even if the user
clicked cancel in the print dialogue)
If you find a better way, I'd br glad to hear of it...

Change Report Font Size for Printer Friendly Page

I have a report using a template of 'Reports Region' and I have a link to a printer friendly page. Because the report text is so big I would like to make it smaller. I have already reduced the width of the report region but that has made 2 page reports run into 4 pages. I tried adding tags to the page to modify it but I was only able to make the text at the top of the page smaller and not the report. I tried modifying the theme_V3.css file but I could not find a place to modify text/font size in the report (This was trial and error as I am unfamiliar with css).
I would like to only have it smaller on the printer friendly page but if I will be forced to change it all the time I would like to know if there is at least an option.
If the only way to make this happen is to build a custom report then so be it. (But again the printer friendly page only pulls in the current page and I want it to only be small on the printer page)
I am on V2.2.

You need to use a print media stylesheet. You'll need to find class(es) or other CSS selector(s) to attach the font size rule(s) to - look at the HTML source for your page.

In the mean time, try another web browser to see if you have the same results.
What web browser are you using?
What is the full name and product number of your printer? There are several Laserjet 200 series. How Do I Find My Model Number or Product Number?
What operating system are you using?
How to Find the Windows Edition and Version on Your Computer.

How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)

You seem to have misunderstood the use of the print.css
This is used on the same page as the normal css script, but
is only seen by
the printer.

Send printer friendly page per mail

Hello everybody.
I'm very new with APEX and I couldn't find an answer to solve my problem:
I have a printer friendly page with several text elements and a report so that it nearly looks like a letter in the end.
Now I want to send this page as a "pdf-attachment" per mail when pressing a button.
I already noticed the "add_attachment"-procedure in the APEX_MAIL package, but how do i get my actual printer friendly page stored in a BLOB-column in my DB to use this procedure?

There are several different version of the get_print_document function, e.g there's this one:
APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (
p_report_data IN CLOB,
p_report_layout IN CLOB,
p_report_layout_type IN VARCHAR2 default 'xsl-fo',
p_document_format IN VARCHAR2 default 'pdf',
p_print_server IN VARCHAR2 default NULL
) RETURN BLOB;
So you could store both the XML and XSL in a CLOB. But it might be easier to get started referencing actual report queries and report layouts, which you store under shared components and then use this API:
APEX_UTIL.GET_PRINT_DOCUMENT (

p_report_query_name IN VARCHAR2,
p_report_layout_name IN VARCHAR2 default null,

p_print_server IN VARCHAR2 default null
) RETURN BLOB;
Using pre-defined report queries and layouts ensures that you don't run into issues with your custom XML and XSL data.
The error message "500 Internal Server Error" is a standard Java error message that doesn't tell you anything. Maybe you could find more info in one of your log files. Are you using BI Publisher? Apache FOP? Or some other rendering engine?

6210 all-in-one -- prints fine on Win 7, but right side of horizontal page will not print.

HP 6210 all-in-one installed now on Windows 7 and prints fine. However, with landscape pages, will not print the right 1.5 inches of any NEW page I prepare, but pages prepared before on XP print fine. I've tried all adjustments and it just doesn't make sense to me whta is going on. HELP!!

I actually solved the problem myself by installing still another replacement set of print heads.
