Printer in chooser?

I run OS 9.2 (in Classic mode) and OS 10.4. In OS 10.4 the printer(Epson Photo 820)
runs OK but it doesn,t show up in 9.2 chooser. How do I get it to print in 9.2?

A couple of solutions:
See if rebuilding your desktop helps.

To avoid the finger gymnastics you can use:
Techtool Lite
or
Trash*Desktop
Check w/your printers (manufacturer) website to see if you need to update the drivers to be compatible w/your 9.2 OS system.

Hp deskjet 1510 does not print when choosing specific font style

Hi Guys,
I just bought hp deskjet 1510 and installed the driveres via the CR came with.
- I use Windows 7
- Have Microsoft Office 2010
My issue is as the following:
When typing a document and chose font type "Adobe Arabic" then click on print, the printer power light will only blink and no paper is printed! When changing the font to other type then the printer will print out the paper.
Is it something can be fixed? it is not critical choosing this spcific font type for me but would be lovely if someone know how to fix this.

Thank you for answering my question, and trying the HP Print and Scan Doctor. Sorry it did not work for you, I do have some more suggestions to try:
Uninstall the software. Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Clean boot the computer. How to perform a clean boot in Windows.
Make sure the firewall is disabled. Turn Windows Firewall on or off.
Make sure antivirus is disabled. Disable antivirus software.
Re-install the software using the HP Printer Install Wizard for Windows.

Print by choosing paper source by PDF page size from MAC

I have an iMAC with Maverick OS. I am printing to both an HP 401 monochrome laser printer and an HP Laser Jet Pro CM1415fnw Color Printer. I receive .pdf files which contain both letter and legal sized pages. I know that I cannot print out letter and legal size pages by selecting "choose paper source by PDF page size" from my MAC. This does present a problem for me (and I'm sure many others). What I would like to know is 1) is there a way around this problem and 2) are there any plans for Adobe to address a resolution to this issue by fixing the option so that MAC users can achieve the same level of ease of print results as Window users? There is certainly a large segment of the population who are now MAC users. Thank you.

Thanks for the suggestion, Steve. I did go to that link and asked the same
information of Adobe directly. Their NB at the bottom of the page says
that due to the large number of questions asked and information requested,
they usually do NOT respond to the users. Too bad. How else are we
supposed to get valid info? I believe almost all the other software
vendors do have a contact location from which they will address user's
concerns and will contact you with some kind of info. Welcome to the new
world of customer service!! i.e., Go figure it out by yourself!!

Adding new printer in chooser old OS

I just hooked up a new HP Deskjet 5940 to my old PowerMac G4 ronning on OS 10.2.8. I can print fine with my OS 10 applications, but when I go to my old OS 9 Excell or OS 9 Powerpoint, not only can't it see the new printer, I can't even add it in Chooser, where it simply doesn't show up. Help please?

Print report, choose printer

Hallo,
I am running Report 6.08 on SUN Solaris 8. When I want to print a report and try to choose a printer, it seems to me that Reports only accepts local printers. The name of my network printer is hp5pac5ps. When I enter this name in the field "Printer name:" I get the error message
"You have picked an invalid printer.
Please make another choice"
On a shell level I have no problems accessing that printer.

Hello Ulrich,
Reports recognizes only those printers which are configured for use with Reports, as specified in the $ORACLE_HOME/guicommon6/tk60/admin/uiprint.txt config file. You need to specify the printer description file (PPD or HPD file) here. The file itself contains help on how to create printer entries in it.
You can also take a look at the 'Printing on UNIX' document on OTN at http://otn.oracle.com/docs/products/reports/files/pbr_uxprt.pdf. This document is specific to Reports 9i, but the details are applicable to Reports 6i also, with some modification to the directory names etc.

Adding printer to chooser

I have a Mac G4 and I bought an old Epson C86 because it would work with OS 9. It works fine with OS 9.2 except that I can't get it to print in Printmaster Gold, a card program I use.
I can't change the chooser to list the C86. Can anyone help?

Usually you have to select a printer in the Chooser before you use it. You say the printer works fine but you can't see it in the Chooser. I'm confused.
I recall my Epson printer came with floppies anda Cd that had the necessary Mac drivers. Have you installed those? If not, maybe you can dowload a copy off Epson's website.

Pre 1.4.1 Print profile choosing behavior back in LR2

Well I see the released version of LR2 has the exact same behavior when choosing printer profiles as pre 1.4.1 did. You guys are a real price of work. What the h___ were you thinking?
At least the workaround changing the colorsync profile in the colorsync utility still works but of course limits you to just a few paper choices.

I have a PC and am not familiar with LR on the Mac, but I too had many
problems and appear to have made progress by removing the previews and
building them again. I thought I had done this already, but perhaps I
stepped on them with 1.4.1 by accident. In any case, I deleted the previews
again and am rendering them again. After a few hours, 9,552 previews have
been rendered, with about 37,000 to go. The rate of progress looks
reasonable. I don't want to do too much during this large number of
renders, but it appears as though I can navigate the images with relative
speed. I'll hit everything harder when the renders are done, but I'm
optimistic this time.
Bottom line. Try deleting your previews and see if that helps.

Which printer to choose with inks 339 & 344

My uncle has thrown out his broken hp printer but has a few brand new inks left, codes 339 and 344, he wants to purchase a new printer which will take the same inks but can't remember the name of the printer he threw out, can anyone advise which printers to look at under £60? Many thanks

Well, the printer is a Japanese model, so it'll be different to one in India. It's only a year old, so it is a current model and prints CDs as well. The model is, Epson PM-G730. The only difference is, I am using an Airport Extreme and not Express, but that shouldn't make any difference to your choice.
I didn't have to go hunting for drivers or software either. I just used the software that came with it. The only advice I would give you is, install the printer software while the printer is connected directly to the computer via USB to be sure it sets up correctly. Then, just plug it in to the Airport, look for it in the Airport window and set it as default. It's as easy as 1 2 3.
As for brands to choose. Of course, I will recommend Epson because that is what I have and it works fine for me. The other reason I would recommend Epson is because the printer toners are much cheaper than HP printer toners. Cannon toners are also cheap and have a good reputation with Macs. Also, don't listen to advice from the electrical shop staff. They have no idea about anything to do with Macs! One of my friends recently went to buy a printer and the shop staff wouldn't sell him what he wanted because they told him it wouldn't work with a Mac (an Epson printer). He told me about it the next day and I told him to go back and just buy it. He went back, bought it, plugged it in, installed the software and it's going great guns.

Print Report - Choose from Multiple Formats

Hello!
I need to give the client the option to print a report to a pdf file and an xls file via 2 different buttons/links. I have a functioning button right now that opens a pdf file (.rtf created using BI Publisher) but I'm trying to figure out how to do the same for an xls file (no specific layout; client needs to sort columns). I can create a link to an xls file via the Print Attributes tab, but then my button to open a pdf file breaks (I get a 'missing expression' error).

Printing while choosing the media type

Hello,
I got a problem while printing a PDF. I print it with the pdfrenderer appli and everything works fine except that when I print on a tray which is with media type 'preprinted', the printer ask me to put normal paper in the tray. How can i say that it should print even if the tray is in preprinted. Can i set the media type to preprinted?

After reading the java doc, I found that you cannot define new media type with a class extending MediaName.
But I don't know how to do it and how can I found the word corresponding to the type 'PREPRINTED'...
Any ideas?

No matter which printer I choose, InDesign CS4 rejects it.

I downloaded the trial version of InDesign CS4 for my Vista machine. Every time I try to change the printer to anything but PostScript file, it tells me "Printer selection failed. Restoring the previous selection" ... is this a limitation of the trial version or what? CS3 prints fine to all my printers. .... if it matters, both my printers are HP. My main one is HP Business Inkjet 2800.
Any help would be appreciated!!

One other thing. It matters, on Vista 64-bit versions, where the programs are installed. InDesign is a 32-bit program so you need to be sure it goes into the 32-bit program files directory.
Did you try installing a copy of the printer, or deleting the instance you have and reinstalling that? It shouldn't matter if InDesign is installed before or after the printer.
Oh man, Peter. I had no idea about the 32-bit, 64-bit thing. Where the heck is the 32-bit program files directory? This is a 64-bit operating system I have now and although I did delete the printer from the printer list and then added it again, since the drivers are included with the system, there is no reinstalling anything, it just adds the printer again. And since there are no drivers available for me to download and install, I don't get to do it manually, because all-knowing windows knows exactly what I need and tells me what I have to do (cough, cough).
I can print from Acrobat -- and Illustrator CS4, but not InDesign. Are those 32-bit application also, or just InDesign?

Can't print! Chooser won't hold

the problem began once i started plugging in a digital camera and a mini HD (iomega 40gb). perhaps they have nothing to do with it. but now even after re-installing the printer driver, deleting the epson prefs, i still can't get anything to print. it doesn't recognize the printer. any ideas?

When a problem like this arises I try to go at the fix in a simple method. First unhook ant externals and see if the printer is recognized. Make sure th eprinter is on and that the cable is connected to the proper ports. I would not use a hub to start.....If the compter see the printer...then add your hub (if using) then add in the externals one at a time. If the computer doen't see the printer....try a differnet cable if possible....Just another note....The use of a card reader is simple and helps eliminate many problems and save battery life......Post Back......Jim

Printer Suggestions (choosing between 2 Canons)

Our HP inkjet died and now I am looking for a replacement. I refuse to use another HP because of their lack of support (free at least) for Mac. I am down between 2 Canon printers - the Pixma MP 470 and the MP 520. There is about a $75 price difference between the 2 and I can't see why based on their published specs. I am running 2 iMacs (Intel 24" and an older G4). The printer will be attached to the G4 and if it is EASY I will share it from the G4. If not, then I will sneakernet whatever I need to print to it. Therefore, the real key is the G4.
Bottom line question, any opinion of the MP 470 and the MP 520?

Print Report - Choose from Multiple Formats Part II

Hello again!
I followed the instructions to create a report that gives the client the option to select an output format using a select list. ( http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/apex/apex31nf/apex31rpt.htm#t2 ).
This works great, but I have a predefined template that I created using BI Publisher that I would like the PDF report format to use instead of the generic layout. All the other formats can use the generic layout option, but the PDF report needs to use the .rtf file. Is this possible, and if so, how?

I have recently purchased a Mac computer (updated to Maverick) to go with my Epson Stylus Photo RX500 printer which has given excellent service with my old Windows computer. However, when trying to print pictures or photos via Photoshop Elements 11, the best results I can get are using the Colour Management and Epson Colour controls in the printing options box.
My problem is that after printing the first photo or picture, when I come to print a second, both the Colour Management and Epson Colour Controls are greyed out and showing No Colour Management, The only way I can reset the controls is to shut down the printer and computer and restart.
Could there may be a setting somewhere that I need to adjust please? I have been in touch with Epson and they say that the Epson Colour controls are part of the Photoshop Elements software but a post on the Adobe forum brought no results and I am unable to contact Adobe.

Hello Garry. Thanks for the reply. I guess I should have used a different title from "How do I post a question?" That should come after trying to resolved the colour settings first. However, to answer your question, after experimenting with all the different settings in Photoshop Elements and Epson software, I now start with PSE11 Colour settings then click "no colour management" then after clicking Print, I choose "More Options/Colour Management/Colour Handling/Printer Manages Colour" then I choose "Page Setup/Layout/Colour Matching" which then shows Epson Colour Controls but I also choose "Layout/Colour Management" which then shows "Colour Controls/Mode" I then of course choose an Epson printer profile depending on the paper I am using. I get good results but as I said, the Colour Matching and Colour Controls are then greyed out. Hope that makes sense.
