Printer is Offline Message on a Mac 10.6.8

Hi,
This problem is driving me crazy, and wanted to print alot of documents. But anyway, I followed the troubleshooting issues posted on your support site and followed and nothing happened. I have tried resetting my printer, re-installed my HP software and adding a new printer and did all of the steps in order.
I installed the latest driver software for this printer:3.3.2
Mac OS X: 10.6.8
Macbook White
While I installed the software: it detected my wireless connection like Network Name, IP address, address mode, subjet mask, default gateway and host name.
Then I successfullly installed the HP software on my mac.
Then I added the HP Officejet on my Systems Preferences > Print and FAx > Then added my printer on the last.
After that I deleted the printed queues remaining on the printer window. And printed 1 document to see if it were printing.
Now, this experience is getting frustrated and ridiculous.  I have tried all of the troubleshooting steps, but nothing worked. I need some guidance how to get this printer to work. For the past 3 weeks, I have printed over 500 pages of slides to prepare myself for a professional exam I am studying. But this process of getting the printer to work is really a pain of ***. I want somebody to help me about this.

Photoshop was the last version compiled for the PPC cpu, not Intel. 10.6.8 kept it going with the Rosetta emulator, gone since 10.7.
So, no CS2 won't work under 10.10
CS6 (permanent license) or Lightroom and Photoshop | Adobe Creative Cloud Photography plan is the way to go.

  • 'printer is offline' message, even though it's not

I'm installing a new HP 4500 to my network at home, currently using my Macbook Air. The software downloaded fine and the setup wizard worked well too, the printer found my network and says that it is connected to it.
when I try to print wirelessly, the window on my laptop says 'printer is offline' and 'printer is not connected' although it clearly is online.
I have no trouble printing through a wire
    please help

    Hello belmoo,
I understand your are having "Printer Offline" errors with your HP 4500 after you have installed onto your Mac Book Air over your wireless connection but the USB cable connection works without problem. If you could please provide me with the printers Model Number as the 4500 has several possible printers connected to that series name and your Operating System running on the Mac.
I would like you to start with looking into this document as it covers all the Windows & Mac Operating Systems: 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print.

    Hello Betty7,
Please let me take a moment to say "Welcome" to the HP Forums.
I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see that you are having an issue with getting the printer reinstalled.
I suggest that we start off by running the HP Print and Scan Doctor.  If the Doctor fails, please let me know where it fails as well as any error codes it may generate.

  • Mac 'printer offline' message

Hi - I have an imac running os10.9 just upgraded with an HP photosmart 5524
Before the upgrade I tried to print and got the message 'printer offline' - this is the third of fourth time now I have had this, each time I have then had to de-install and re-install the software.
I upgraded to 10.9 and tried to install the relevant driver - only to get an error message when I tried to expand the driver download - I have checked permissions and they are all fine, and re-run the download three times only to get the same error each time.
I have reverted to your 12.23.0 driver - twice downloaded and installed and am still getting the 'printer offline'
I have reset the printer and added it in preferences - same problem.
This is truly hopeless - please help before I through this printer out
    Chris

    Hi DevonS,

  • "Printer not connected" message, but printer may end up printing anyways hours after

I'm pretty much helpless after trying reinstalling drivers (the printer is a HP C7180), updating and reconfiguring my router in various ways (Dlink DIR-655, 2.07NA) and trying all types of connections possible for the printer (ethernet, usb, wifi, auto dhcp, fixed adress dhcp), deinstalling and reinstalling the printer in Lion.
The drivers were properly re-downloaded and reinstalled. I followed Apple instructions for this printer under Lion.
The printer will work just after reinstalling from a first computer, but will immediately start behaving strangely after that. Any other computer will be told that the printer is not connected. The job will be put on hold, but it might end up printing an hour or two after that (or never).
I can't tell for sure if the printer is defective. The diagnostic isn't clear at all. I'd buy a new printer, but I'm afraid it might do the same thing, because it could be some problem with the router, for instance. I haven't found anything specific about this type of problem with this router model and this OS version (Lion 10.7.3).
    Any idea ?

    Hi @lbf626,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I noticed that you cannot connect your HP Officejet 6500 a plus 710n-z to your MacBook running OS X 10.10.2. I am sorry for the frustration, but I am happy to help!
    Please see the following:
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Does Not Print: Mac OS X. (I would follow the instructions for OS X v10.8 Mountain Lion and OS X v10.9 Mavericks. As it will work on Mac OS X 10.10.2)
Printer Does Not Maintain Wireless Connection.
Tips for troubleshooting wireless connection issues
The following tips can help you troubleshoot and avoid wireless connectivity issues. You can try these tips separately or in combination to get a successful wireless signal.
Move the printer and the computer closer to the router, but no closer than 6 ft (1.8 m). Wireless signals can be weaker at greater distances between the printer and the router.
If you are experiencing an intermittent wireless connection, try restarting your router. Consult your router manufacturer, Internet service provider, or network administrator for instructions on how to restart the router.
Remove any metal objects between the printer, the computer, and the router. Objects such as refrigerators, microwaves, or metal bookcases can interfere with wireless transmission.
Move any device that emits radio signals, such as microwaves and cordless telephones, farther away from the printer. Such devices can interfere with wireless signals.
Make sure the router is broadcasting at 2.4 ghz and not at 5 ghz.
I would also recommend this website, HP Wireless Printing Center - Troubleshooting Issues.
Hope this information is helpful, and thank you for posting!

  • HP OfficeJet 6500A Printer goes offline shortly after setup

    Hi,
Question is: How do I stop my HP 6500A e710a-f printer from going offline? (this is NOT the 6500A+)
I have a Dell laptop running Win8.0, connecting wirelessly via a Huawei B593 LTE router. Printer is HP 6500A using the E710a-f driver. Printer is attached to the router via an ethernet cable.
I can create a new HP 6500A printer and print a test page over the wireless network. However, shortly after this, the printer goes 'offline'. I have tried to re-connect by restarting the Printer Servies, but - again - this only helps for a short period of time. i have also re-created the printer from scratch by deleting and then re-creating the printer. Again, the same result.
This should be a standard offering for what is an expensive home office printer with standard ethernet ports. Most home offices use wireless routers - so this should be a simple connection.
I have looked through the Forums, but not seen any definitive answer - a lot of suggestions over the last few years, but no straight answer.  Apart from the guy who left and bought an Epson instead........!
It cannot be that hard to fix what should be a standard offering for this printer.
    Can someone help me?

    Hi @MagnusB

  • Printer "currently offline"

    Hello,
I am currently printing wirelessly with an HP C6200. I am using both a macbook pro (specs below) and iMac (Mac OS X 10.5.6). I set both computers to print wirelessly months ago, and they both printed perfectly (I don't really remember what I did to set them up, but being Macs, I do remember it being quick and simple). Recently, I have been getting a printer "currently offline" message from the iMac when I try to print. Printing from my macbook pro, however, still works fine. The strange thing is, that when I go into the HP Printer Utility on the iMac, I am able to print a test page with no problem. Printing anything else (i.e., word, PDF, etc....) brings up the "currently off line" error message. I know I don't have a lot of details about how my computers are set up to print wirelessly, so if you need more information, please let me know.
Any ideas would be appreciated, thanks!

Try resetting the printing system and adding the printer back in. To do that, open the Print & Fax pane, and control-click on the printer list.

  • HP LaserJet 600 M602 printer goes offline every night

    Hi,
I have a HP LaserJet 600 M602 CE991A printer on a wired network. I have quite a few other printers on the network as well and do not show me this kind of behavior.
But for some reason, this printer, from as soon as I bought it, goes offline every time from around 5.20-5.30pm to around 8.30pm. I have a ping tester running as I am trying to figure out what's going on and I got 100% drop every night for that time period.
I looked to see if there was a setting that puts this device to sleep or so but no, I cant find anything. I have tried with the energy setting sleep mode on or off, wake up events to trigger a wake up call to the printer but no luck.

I am out of options, in our other locations, we have sam printer but a CE993A models and they do not show this kind of behavior at all.
I am at a deadlock here.

    Hi @Halan ,

  • Printer is offline all the time! Help!

My wireless HP LaserJet Pro 200 color MFP M276nw goes offline all of the time.  We have printed the wireless configuration pages that state that there is not a problem and that the printer is connected with a good signal.  We can print off our phones wirelessly (anywhere in our house), but the printer does not seem to communicate with our Dell Inspiron (crappy Windows 8).

    Hi @fcu ,
I see that printer keeps going offline on the computer, but you can still print using your phones wirelessly.
I can help you with this.
Most likely the router reassigned the printer a new IPv4 address and the computer isn't recognizing it.
Print a configuration page to get the printer's IPv4 address.
    Printing a Configuration Report.
If you have a valid IP address for the printer then try and access the Embedded Web Server for the printer.
Type the IP address into your web browser's address bar. (Internet Explorer)
If it loads the printer's network page then the printer is on the network.
Check the port showing on the computer, to make sure it matches the printer's IPv4 address.
Go to the start up screen, (tiles menu) type in "Devices and Printers", select settings, click on Devices and Printers.
Right click on the printer and left click printer properties, select the ports tab.
Click on configure port to view the IPv4 address.
If the IPv4 address doesn't match the printer's IPv4, then create a new port with the new IPv4 address.
    Close the configure port window.
Click Add Port, select Standard TCP/IP Port, then select New Port and follow the wizard.
Type in the proper IPv4 address for the printer.
Make sure the printer is online.
    Test the printer.
If the problem persists, follow the steps in this document for the printer being offline.
'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the HP Printer Will Not Print.
I would also setup a Static IP address, to the router will assign the same IP address.
Printer Does Not Maintain a Wireless Connection.
Disregard the title. Go to Solution three: Assign the printer a static IP address.
    Let me know the outcome.

  • Printer ALWAYS offline

I have had this printer for a few months and at first it worked great. Now it is ALWAYS offline and no matter what I do, turn it off and on, unplug it run diagnostics, it won't work. ti print one page it takes me a good 45 mins or more to just mess around with all the programs to get it to work. I am very dissappointed in this printer. Wish i could return it for a refund.

Hi , Welcome to the HP Support Forums!   I see your HP Deskjet 2540 is showing as 'Offline',  it prints slowly and you have not been able to get it back online. I would like you to run the Print and Scan Doctor > www.hp.com/go/tools-- It was designed by HP to provide users with the troubleshooting and problem solving features needed to resolve many common problems experienced with HP print and scan products connected to Windows-based computers. If you run the PSDR and are still getting the Printer offline error, I would like you to continue here: 'Printer is offline' Message Displays on the Computer and the Printer Will Not Print I will watch for your reply, please let me know the outcome.

  • Re: My printer is offline and will not print, How do I fix this?

I have a deskjet printer model 4260. I recently replaced one of the inkcartridges, prior to that the printer worked.
Now I can not get the printer on line, no matter what I do. I am able to print a test page with all colors working.
I am running windows 7.  I believe I have tried everything, like plug and play, to shutting the system down and
    bringing it back on line.
The router I am using is Linksys it is hard wired
