Printer Mac Wifi network connection

I cant get my Macbook pro to print through house wifi... House desktop is running windows 7. My mac seems unable to connect to my printer plz help thx?

Looking at the specs for this model there is no mention of Bonjour support. So you will need to manually add the printer to the Mac. To do so, you will need to know the IP address the printer is using. You should be able to print a network configuration page from the printer. Or you can refer to the Win7 PC's by opening Devices & Printers, selecting the Kyocera, right-click and select Printer Properties, then the Ports tab. In this list, the IP address will be shown (you may need to widen the Port column to see the full address or press the Configure Port button).
Once you know the IP address, on the Mac you can open Printers & Scanners and click the plus button to add. Select the IP icon and then enter the IP address of the FS-C5250DN. Change the Protocol to HP Jetdirect-Socket. Leave the Queue blank. Change the name to C5250 and leave the Location blank. If the Use menu does not automatically select the FS-C5250DN printer, click on the Use menu and then "Select printer software". From the Printer Software window, select the FS-C5250DN and click OK to close this window. Then click on Add to complete the printer queue creation. Now see if you can print a document from the Mac to the printer.

  • What should the"default behavior" be for WiFi network connections?

I Have been able to at least temporarily fix the plethora of problems encountered after downloading Mountain Lion to my 2009 17" MBP just ten days ago.  Thanks to the time and effort of so many posters that are much more savvy than me, I successfully executed the steps suggested in many of the posts and with good results.  It surely beats running down to the Apple store and being told that I am the only one with a problem.
Okay,  I've  realized that I don't really know what the default behavior of the WiFi network connection should be?
    Specifically:
Should the Wi-Fi drop down in Network always be" looking for networks", even though I am obviously on my Network?
Should the Wi-Fi be connected at all times even when your computer is in sleep mode- or deep sleep mode?  There have been so many problems with Wi-Fi dropping off, slow or hanging loads, etc.
I unchecked "ask to join networks, in Network preferences thinking it might stop looking for networks when it doesn't need to because I'm already on mine.  I do see my neighbors (four neighbors) in the drop down in Network.
How do you get into Time Capsule's settings, to check speeds, especially ping?  What should the ideal settings be?
How do you know if your DHCP license is renewed? I've heard that feature isn't working and may be the culprit to some of the Wi-Fi problems.
I'll look forward to your help in understanding more about this.  I've been in the support  area a lot lately, I've read plenty of definitions, and explanations of the different options to choose from in Apple's support area, but nowhere have I seen anything that explains what the default behavior should be or perform  like.
    Thanks, as always.

Generally, you don't want to tweak the wifi settings. It pretty much takes care of itself. The caveat to that is, of course, if you're experiencing problems.
The 'looking for networks' behaviour only happens when you log in, wake the mac from sleep OR when you click on the wifi icon. You clicking on it tells the mac  "I want to see what networks are available" - so it does a scan for you to check to see if any new networks have appeared since you last clicked on it (or woke/logged in). In short, if you don't want it to look for new networks, don't click on the icon!
Unchecking the 'ask to join networks' option only applies when your mac detects a new network (such as when it wakes) that you haven't already authorised; it'll ask you to confirm whether you want to join it or not. Otherwise, if the network is open it'll join automatically. You should keep this selected if you travel around with your Mac. It's a good idea to know what network you're on before you start plugging in passwords or typing other things into the mac.
There is a utility that you can use for ping and traceroute called 'Network Utility'. Click on the Spotlight icon in the top right of your screen and type "Network' and you should see it at the top of the list. Hit 'return' to open it.
DHCP licences are normally renewed automatically by your router every 24 hours. Again, there's no reason to be messing about with that unless you're experiencing problems.
If you're experiencing wifi dropout, let us know, and we'll make some suggestions, but if you're not, you're best leaving your mac to manage the background processes. It knows what it's doing!

  • Several Macs losing network connection

We recently upgraded 20 Mac computers ranging from first generation G4s to dual 2.7GHz G5s (no Intel procs). Of these Macs, five constantly lose their network connection - no Internet, Intranet, network drives, printing, etc. This happens several times a day. Out of the five computers having this issue, three are G4 towers, one is a G4 cube and one is a G5. All the other Macs are fine after the upgrade. The 20 Macs are on two different subnets within the building and we have Macs on both subnets experiencing the problem. These machines run similar applications, were all upgraded in the same way around the same time, and are running 10.4.5. I am upgrading a couple of the machines to 10.4.6 to see if that helps, but I am not holding my breath. The computers a plugged into Ethernet drops. Four out of the five experiencing problems use DHCP and one has a static IP. I saw other people that were experiencing this issue on home and work machines, but no solutions. Please help. My users are getting tired of rebooting several times a day. THANK YOU!
    G5   Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I'm having the same problem with my Mac Pro and my home Airport network. Other machines (MacBook and iMac) see the network fine, but the Pro keeps dropping out and the only cure is to restart.

  • How to setup a Linksys router as WiFi network -- connecting to Actiontec

With horrible range using the Fios Actiontec router, I went ahead with google searched suggestion to use a second router as my WiFi network. Unfortunately, I can't figure out how to properly set up the second router to the Actiontec even with step-by-step instructions.
Can anyone give me step by step instructions to get the second router up and running? Please help!
I wish to set up my second router as a new static connection so my WiFi devices may connect to that network instead of the Actiontec's. I do have Fios TV, so I need a solution that will not interrupt the other services.
I used this set of instructions:
    http://smallbusiness.chron.com/set-up-second-router-verizon-fios-60493.html
I put the starting IP as 192.68.1.3
I got up to the input New Static Connection and input 192.68.1.2 and the MAC address of the new router.
When I press Apply, I get the message,"The IP address 192.68.1.2 is illegal for any of the connections subnets." The first time it failed, it stated that the address was used, but now I get this message every time.
I also attempted this set of instructions:
    http://www.ehow.com/how_6127815_set-second-router-verizon-fios.html
But I only got up to #6 where I connect to the new router and enter admin. I was unable to access the new router. My browser states that there is no internet connection.
Note: Verizon support has been no help so far. I am at wit's end.

These are the instructions I would use
Can I use my wireless or an extra router along with the Verizon provided router?

  • InDesign CS6 (Mac) and network connections

Of all the Mac apps I've used over the years, why is InDesign the only application that can't make it through a network connection issue without crashing?
For example, when I switch from Wifi to Ethernet, it crashes; even Microsoft apps can handle the change, and that's saying a lot.
Is there anything I should be looking at to try and remedy this situation? (Hint: Telling me that the solution is to quit InDesign before changing my connection is not a solution.)

    Ask in the ID forum.

  • Simple printer for my network (connected to windows pc)

I'm looking for a printer to connect to a windows PC that will let me print through the network from my MacBook and iMac.
I just want a simple and cheap printer, nothing too fancy.
I've got a HP3650 now, but I cant get it too work like this (tried everything from standard osx drivers to cups, foomatic, gutenprint etc..) But nothing seemed to work for me.

I would recommend you purchase a printer that has its own network card (wired or wireless). That way you don't need to share it from Windows, allowing the Mac's to connect directly to the printer using their provided driver.

  • TS1398 Ever since I upgraded to iOS 7, my iPhone is constantly forgetting my wifi network connection.

Lately, my iPhone has been getting dropped from my wifi network and more often than not, when I leave and come back to the office wifi, the phone will have trouble connecting, asking for the password again and again (which it should already know!).
But now it will not connect at all. The wifi is working fine on my mac and the signal strenght is fine. I have gone through all of the steps suggested by Apple support and it still will not connect to the wifi network.
    Any help?

  • Share Imac's wifi network connection with iphone

Now I have a problem that is contrary to all I have seen so far. My Imac is often with me in places where I can have wifi network if I declare my MAC address in advance. When I am there, I often want to have network on my Iphone as well, but cannot share that connection because wifi is already used for getting into the net. How can I do access the internet from my Iphone (example: skype or Viber calls from abroad to home) in such situations?

    Sorry for:
being so late (I had lost the pointer to this discussion due to a massive change in my machinery)
havig written iMac instead of MacbookPro. I was writing my post from my iMac at home...
However, I do know that every device has got a unique MAC address, and I do know the MAC address of my iPhone. My iPhone is connected to my home Wifi network, which allows access only to devices known by their MAC address.
My problem was that I only got ONE MAC address to declare, eventhough I had two devices. So, I could not directly connect my iPhone to that network, but I could connect my MacBookPro (because I needed the network to resume documents during meeting, and so on). I just wanted my iPhone being able to access the network, even if tethered to my MacBookPro (or, even better, without connecting it physically), but I was not able to do that. I can imagine that from my MacBook I could share the Internet connection via Bluetooth, and I tried that way, but there was no way to couple the iPhone on the Bluetooth connection to do anything significant. Also with the physical connection (cable), I did not see any way to share my network access on my MacBook.
I hope I was clear this time..

  • "Error while Printing" on ethernet network connected iMac.

Have 2 iMacs sharing a Canon MP530, one directly connected, the other via a Linksys ethernet router. Upon a print request, the networked computer locates the MP530 and displays the standard print page, but shortly after clicking Print (or Preview) the "Error while Printing" message is displayed. Under some conditions in the past we have been able to print from the networked machine, but now we're stuck and nothing seems to fix the problem.

Since you have 10.4.10 installed, I'm betting that you were able to print before this update was installed. Anyway, the first thing I would do is delete the printer from the 'client' (the iMac connecting to the shared printer). Open Printer Setup Utility, select the MP530 and delete it. Then click on Printer Setup Utility and select Reset Printing System. This should remove the Canon MP driver files. Then run the printer driver installer again and once completed, add the printer via the Printer Setup Utility, by clicking Add > Default Browser and select the Shared Printer.
I would also try running a Repair Disk Permissions and if that doesn't help then try using Fixamac's Printer Setup Repair utility.

  • No wifi network connection

i have ipod 3rd gen touch..i can not connect to wifi...no network connections show up and the searching circle just continues to go around and around as if it is still searching it doesn't stop or produce results..if i attempt to join another network it says unable to scan for wireless networks.

    - Reset the iPod. Nothing will be lost
Reset iPod touch: Hold down the On/Off button and the Home button at the same time for at
least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
    - Power off and then back on the router.
    - Reset networks settings: Settings>General>Reset>Reset Network Settings
    - iOS: Troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks and connections
    - iOS: Recommended settings for Wi-Fi routers and access points
    - Restore the iPod from backup
    - Restore to factory settings/new iPod

  • Better to use a printer's  WiFi or connect via TimeCapsule USB Printer.

Just a generic question....Is it better/easier/faster to use a printer's built in WiFi versus connecting it via a USB connection to my Time Capsule.
I'm installing an all in one, Epson 810. MBP, 10.5.8, Time Capsule. Would like to use all the functionality of the Epson (scan, fax, copy, print). Previously was printing on an older Epson using the TimeCapsule via USB connection which worked well.
Just looking to not get into a mess setting stuff up.
    Thanks
    Fabian

There may be no advantage to using the TimeCapsule and USB. The limitation on the speed will be your connection to the TimeCapsule, and that is at WiFi speed. It depends on what the connection speed on the printer is.
You might be able to connect the printer to the TimeCapsule via Ethernet. That should give you all the functions, and if the WiFi speed of the printer is G, rather than N, the connection will be limited by your N speed connection to the TimeCapsule.

  • Manually configuring WiFi network connections - ne...

Unable to uncover settings menu to allow for the manual configuration of the settings for my WiFI network. Network is using static IPs...is this not an option on the Lumia 920?

It is not an option. Fixed IP while fine for fixed devices that don't move and change networks, is not ideal for a mobile device connecting to multiple wlans with potentially different IP ranges. What you could do it to enable the DHCP server on your router with a small range which would allow you to use the phone while having your other devices on fixed IP's outside the range. Another possibility is to use IP reservation on the DHCP server for devices requiring a fixed IP. These are better solutions than having every device on fixed IP's.

  • Wireless printer and wifi wont connect at same time

    Hello
I have a Mac Mini with software version 10.6.8  I also have a HP wireless printer and for some reason cannot get my wirless internet and wireless printer to connect at the same time,  to print anything I have to disconnect from the internet and to use the internet I have to disconnect from the printer can anyone help?
    Many thanks,
    Kiera

It sounds as though you did not configure your wireless printer to join your usual wireless network. It may be communicating directly with your Mini using an "ad-hoc" configuration, bypassing your wireless router. This will be inconvenient at best.
Refer to your HP printer's documentation to determine how to configure it to join your existing wireless network... the same one you use to connect to the Internet.
