Printer migration from HP-UX to AIX

Hi Experts,
We are planning to migrate our systems from HP-UX to AIX, What are the steps we should take to move printers from HP-UX to AIX, we are not using any 3rd party to tool to manage the printer. They are just regular Unix spoolers.
Thanks in advance for your help.
Ameture

hi!
You can start to migrate the printers to type U (UNIX Berkeley protocol) and leave unix spool.

  • OS Migration from AS/400 to AIX

    Hello,
We are doing OS Migration of our 4.5 server from As/400 to AIX 5...
I wanted to know whether it is possible to use method UNSORTED UNLOAD on AS/400 platform...
DB size is around 1 TB, so it would help a lot if we can do it through UNSORTED UNLOAD...
    Can someone kindly confirm...
    Thanks & Regards,
    RaHuL's

    Hello RaHuL's,
this setup is not really platform dependent ... it depends on the tables ... So, RFBLG is not an option e.g.
I do have in mind, that the exclusion is not automated on 4.5B - but I'm not sure right now.
If you know, which tables need to be exported with sort, you could go for it.

  • SAP Printer migration from AIX to windows

    Dear Experts,
We migrated our ECC from AIX to Windows.
We want to migrate printers from AIX to windows.
Do we have to create queues from scratch in SPAD?
Can we use existing queues in SPAD?
Please guide what all steps are required.
Your help will be highly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Harry

    Hi Hary,
For windows environment you need to change the spool server hostname in SPAD and activate all the relevant printers.
Please check whether you had any network printers configured on AIX host. You can use command
    smitty spooler  or
    lpstat -W -p<queuename>
If there are any spoolers configured for SAP system, you need to recreate them on windows.
    Hope this helps.

  • OS Migration from HP Unix to AIX

    Hello Everyone,
I am in the process of building a Sandbox system for my OS migration and upgrade.
My source system is on R3 4.7 Ext. Set 2 and Oracle as 9.2.0.5 and OS as HP Unix 11.21.
My target is to migrate this system to AIX 6.1.
Can someone please help me out in listing down the pre export steps. I want to take an export of my Production database, hence want to make sure if there are any pre export steps that needs to be performed.
    Regards,
    Nirmal.K

That information is listed in detail on the Heterogeneous System Copy Guide.

  • OS Migration from HP Unix to AIX : Error in Installing Target System

    Hello All,
I have successfully exported the database of my R3 4.7 source system which is on Oracle 9i and HP Unix.
Now I am trying to build a target system on AIX with Oracle 10g.
While Installing Central Instance, in Database parameters screen I didnt get an option for 102 as Oracle Client version but 102 option was there for Oracle server version. Hence I change the value 920 to 102 in oradbpar.xml in my Installation directory and has continued to the next step.
Now during the installation I am getting an error as :
FJS-00003 TypeError: linkTarget has no properties (in script InstallationScript_291, line 8977: ???)
Please help me out in this.
Also let me know if there is a seperate Installation master for Installing 4.7 ssystems.
    Regards,
    Nirmal.K

Theres absolutely no problem using oracle client 920 for 4.7 with Oracle 10g....  that said, If you are planning to upgrade the DB you cannot simply import the database into a system with 10g... You need to run the Oracle upgrade either prior or after the copy.
The Oracle upgrade guide is in SAP Marketplace.
Also, read Note 830576 - Parameter recommendations for Oracle 10g and apply required changes after the upgrade... also you need to apply the required Opatches

  • Print migration and old eDir object assoc. to manager

I did a print migration from NW 6.5 SP7 to OES 2 SP1 linux. It said it completed but with errors. On first look, everything seemed fine. But now I found that if I manage the Print Manager and go into Printer Agents --> Tasks and look at the 'edir object name' some of the printers have the old printer name (i.e. printer_nw.printers.company). There were 21 printers migrated in this run and 4 have the _nw objects assigned to them. If I try to manage those printers I get an error saying "Invalid Object: The selected object is not a valid type for this property book. ". Whilst, the other printers (without the _nw) are fine. Also, I looked it consoleone all of the new printer objects have been created. It just seems that the manager has the old edir names assigned to some printers.
I know I can just recreate those printers and thatd care of it, but Id rather not. Is there any way to change the "edir object name" in the manager that points to the printers?
    Thanks!

    hi,
In iprint migration in order to create the iPrint Printer Object in the
same context we have to rename the existing object. Sometime it happens
that when we have renamed the objects and if you login to iManager
iPrint Manager Print Manager it still shows the Older printer object.
This is a typical problem of eDirectory not syncronized with other
replicas. May if you would wait all the printer which you would have
tried migrting would have been renamed to _nw in the same container.
Please try migrating and ensure your replicas are in sync. It will work.
The newer iPrint printer agent would have been created on the same
    container.
    thanks

  • Oracle E-business suite database migrate from AIX to Linux

Oracle 11i application database migration from single Aix instance to oracle Linux cluster RAC.
What is the easy way to migrate?
Migrate single instance from aix to linux cluster.
    OR
Migrate single instance from aix to linux cluster RAC.
We have installed oracle Linux cluster.
Please help me which way I can go with RAC.
    Thanks
    Prince

Migrating to a single instance will be the simplest. The migration itself will not be much different between the two because you're migrating from one platform to another. The options you have available are, the traditional IMP/EXP, datapump, and RMAN to migrate to either a standalone or RAC environment. The difficulty will be in creating a RAC environment and a little a few extra steps in the RMAN restore. Working with RAC will make things harder, but the actual migration is similar. The steps to IMP/EXP, whether it's traditional or Datapump will be no different. However, standing up a RAC database will be.

  • Problem with Java Print API ( awt ) : Migrated from 1.1 to 1.4

We had migrated an application ( applet based) from Java 1.1.8 to java 1.4.
We use the java.awt.print apis for printing data from our applications.
There is difference in print quality after the migration. For e.g. if the data frame had a scroll bar when taken print out, the scroll bar was not visible in java1.1 version application but is being printed with java1.4 version.
We are unable to find the cause of this problem. Any help in this regard would be of great help.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi,
    thanks, this solved the problem.
    Thank you.

  • Migrating from Solaris to AIX

    Hi
We are planning to migrate from Solaris to AIX. What document will help me to follow?
If possible send me exact link.
Our current environment is R/3 4.6c, Oracle 9.2.3 and Solaris 5.9
Please let me know as quickly as possible.
    Thank-you

    > We are planning to migrate from Solaris to AIX. What document will help me to follow?
    Start with
    http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration
    --> FAQ
where you will see, that you need a certified migration consultant on-site to do that migration.
    > Our current environment is R/3 4.6c, Oracle 9.2.3 and Solaris 5.9
since that version is out of support for a long time there are no more official migration guides available, that must be covered by consulting. Technically it will be done by R3SETUP with DBMIG.R3S as parameter file.

  • SAPDB migration from Windows to AIX

    Dear all:
We are planning to do the content server migration. SAPDB7.3 to MaxDB7.6, from Windows2000 IA32 to AIX 64bit. I checked note 962019, but get confused on one point,
Note 962019 said "You must use the same binary-compatible loader for the entire export an import", it means in my case I have to use the AIX 64bit "loadercli" tool to export the SAPDB on my Windows IA32 system, Can the AIX 64bit version "loadercli" tool run on Windows IA32 system? How can I install the AIX64 bit loadercli on the my Windows 2000 system? I checked note 649814 on how to install the SAPDB/MAXDB client software including loadercli, but they're different patch package for windows and AIX. I don't know how to install the AIX loader on the Windows platform.
Who has done this kind of migration before? Please give some advice.
    Thank you very much.

    Hi Donglin,
I believe that I answered your question in the other thread.
So you may close this one.

  • Migration from AIX Oracle8i to Solaris Oracle8i?

    Hi,
I wonder how to migrate Oracle 8i (8.1.7) on AIX to Oracle
    8i (8.1.7) on Solaris?
The Oracle version is the same, but only the O.S platform is
different. I have found the migration information from Oracle
web site but it only talks about migration between different
    database.
    Thanks.

    > In our organisation, we are planning to migrate from AIX6.1 to Solaris x64. The processor which we'll be using is UltraSPARC+IV processor.
Well - I think you're mixing a few things up here.
Solaris x64 refers to Solaris on the Intel or the AMD processor (x64 == x86_64 == AMD64)
UltraSPARC IV+ refers to a CPU developed by Sun (now Oracle).
    > 1. Which guide to refer for moving the SAP System from AIX6.1 to Solaris
There are no specific guides for OS migrations. You use the heterogeneous system copy approach. However, migrating a database and/or operating system requires a certified migration consultant on-site doing the migration. If you do it yourself you'll loose support from SAP for problems during the migration and for the target system (see http://service.sap.com/osdbmigration).
    > 2. Is UltraSPARC+IV processor is supported for Oracle 10g
Yes. Solaris 10 on SPARC Is supported.

  • Migrating from AIX to Windows

    Hi all,
We are considering in a SAP R/3 4.6c to ECC6 Upgrade, the option to migrate from AIX to Windows OS.
We heard that this option is not so usual.
    - Could you tell us some feedback and recommendation about it?
    - What kind of issues will we face?
    Thanks for your help,

    Usual? What is "usual"?
    > - Could you tell us some feedback and recommendation about it?
    > - What kind of issues will we face?
This depends heavily (if not only) on your environment. Some thoughts:
    - Windows is little endian whereas AIX is big endian; this may affect connected software (non-SAP software, filesystem transfers etc.)
    - additional software plus licenses may become necessary (cluster, backup...)
    - do you have enough knowledge about Windows (+ its internals) as you have on AIX? Windows is not "easier" by default just because you have a mouse to click... (even if everyone thinks it is). Windows administration is totally different to any *nix (you may need to change scripts, consider updating regularly, think about problems you didn't have before (Virus, Worms) etc.)
    - Hardware for Windows is usually cheaper than Power based hardware for AIX
    - Windows licenses (+ CALs) must be bought
Just as another thought: Did you consider running Linux instead? You will use the same (cheaper) hardware with a more common environment (if you come from AIX)?
