Printer not listed.

My printer isn't listed in the printer list. I have an Epson Stylus CX3900, it comes up as being connected to the computer but it isnt listed. It was also working the last time i used it.

Printing to Shared Windows Printer (printer not listed)

I have an iMac with an intel processor running Leopard 10.5.2.
I have a Canon iP1800 connected to a windows xp PC and I am wanting to print to this printer over my network.
I can see the printer no problem and Mac OS will let me connect to it but my printer is not listed in the driver list.
I have been on Canons website and downloaded the correct driver thats supposed to work with Leopard but even once I have installed this the printer still does not appear in the list.
I'm sure this world work if I could only point Mac OS to the location of the printer driver.
So my question is, how do I get my printer to appear in the list? or is there another way of doing this.

When you say it doesn't show up for windows printing what do you mean?
When I go to add a printer by clicking the + button I then select windows and the printer shows up there fine but when I click on the drop down menu print using, select a driver to use this is where it doesn't show up. Is this what you mean?
If so I have been on the Gutenprint website but my printer is not listed. If I install the latest version would this work for me? What would I select in the print using drop down menu?

New installed printer not listed in drop down list of Reader 11

Hi, I have recently changed my printer, first uninstalling the old one, restarting the laptop and installing the new one. On trying to print an email PDF attachment, Reader 11 starts up but my new printer is not listed. The old one still is, even though it has been uninstalled (via Control Panel / programs). I have downloded a workaround but would prefer to continue using reader. I am using Windows 7. Other file types print with no problem. Any ideas please?

Printer not listed in MS Publisher 2007 but is with MS Word 2007

I have the HP Officejet Pro 8600 plus and when I went to print a MS Pulisher doc, the printer is not listed in Publisher, but it is listed with MS Word and I can print a Word doc. I have MS Office Suite and MS Publisher was included with it.

PRINTER PROFILE WHY IS MY PRINTER NOT LISTED AND HOW CAN I ADD

Lightroom does not show a full list of all the profiles present in the computer. This would be unmanageably long, including a lot of irrelevant choices.
The user customises what is seen.
In the Print Job / Color Management section of the Print module, is a "Profile" selector. The lowest item in the menu that opens when you click on this, is "Other..."
Selecting this opens a new dialog, listing all the color management profiles that the OS currently knows about. Putting a check next to any printing output profile, makes that appear in the LR profiles "shortlist" hereafter. This would usually state a specific paper type, for a specific printer (and inkset if nonstandard).
AFAICT the exact same "shortlist" appears in softproofing too - in that case, AdobeRGB and sRGB are automatically offered as well.

New printer not listed within Reader as an option for printing

Prior to changing printers, Reader worked fine.
Our old Dell 1815dn laser printer needed to be replaced. We bought an updated model, the Dell 2335dn. We first uninstalled the old printer and then installed the new one. Word documents print without a problem. However, when trying to print a PDF document, the new printer is not listed as an option but the old one is, despite having been uninstalled. I have updated Reader to v11 and tried again with the same result. The laptop has been completely shut down between the varios stages of this.
Any ideas please?

The screenprint is attached (or below! - I'm not sure which as I type!).
The printer shown (1815) is the old, uninstalled one. The new one is a Dell 2335dn and isn't shown at all.

CUPS PDF PRINTING IN WINDOWS OVER REMOTE DESKTOP - PRINTER NOT LISTED

I am running OS X 10.6.2. I connect remotely using windows remote desktop / terminal services to various windows machines. For the XP and Windows 2003 Server 32 bit systems I have no problems with printing pdf documents from the remote windows system back to my mac using CUPS PDF. I don't have to install anything on the remote windows computer. However, for Windows 2003 Server 64 bit and Windows 7 Professional 64 bit, the CUPS PDF printer does not appear in the printer list. I tried installing the Laserwriter 8500 print driver (which apparently CUPS uses) and attaching to a unused TS printing port. The printer appears in the list but it won't print, and it's obviously not attaching to my computer.
I can't upgrade my mac operating system until I resolve a keyboard driver issue with 10.6.3 and above. Any suggestions?

I am having a similar issue. I'm using Remote Desktop to connect to a 2008 R2 server and am trying to use PDFWriter as a redirected printer to create a PDF. It is only working after I check print to file, save the file (which it creates an XPS file that is not compatible), then I uncheck print to file, click print, and then it creates the pdf file I need.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Basically - I need to have a "PDF" printer because the print window is on the remote server and it doesn't have the save as pdf option.

I AM TRYING TO COPY PICS FROM MY PRINTER TO MY HARD DRIVE AND I NO LONGER SEE THE HP IN MY COMPUTER. MY ONLY OPTION IS PRINT OR SCAN.

Thanks for getting back to me regarding this issue. Now, because you were normally able to see the Memory Card on your computer after inserting the Memory Card into your printer there is good chance that you just need to Map the Network Drive to regain access to the Memory Card. Can I please have you follow the steps below.
Note: These steps pertain to a person who has their printer connected over a wireless/wired network, that wishes to transfer files from the memory card slot on the printer to their computer. You need to map a network drive. This allows the computer to see the memory card that is inserted into the printer as a drive in their ‘Computer’ folder on their PC.
Step 1: Print Network Configuration Report:
To start, a Network Configuration Report must be printed from the printers control panel to locate the 'Host Name' of the printer.
1. Right arrow, and select the 'Setup' button on the front panel of the printer
2. Select Network Menu
3. Select Print Network Configuration. The report will now print. Locate the Host Name.
Step 2: Map A Network Drive:
1. Click on the Start menu on your Computer
2. Right click on Computer
3. Choose Map a Network Drive
4. When the 'Map a Network Drive' window opens, select an available drive letter from the 'Drive' drop-down box.
5. In the 'Folder' field type \\HOST NAME\Memory_Card
NOTE: HOST NAME is the one that you found on the Network Configuration Page.
NOTE: Also, do NOT use the Browse feature or the mapping might fail.
6. Check the box next to 'Reconnect at logon' if it is not already checked and choose 'Finish'
The network drive is now mapped. Now, when you go to your Computer folder on your Windows 7 computer with the memory card inserted in your printer you should see the 'Drive Letter' that you previously chose as an icon. If you open this drive you will be able to see the contents within the Memory Card.

Adobe PDF printer not listed using Acro8Pro

Using AcroPro8 and Win8 I don't have a the Adobe PDF printer available from my list of printers. When I install AcroPro7 it returns. ANy ideas?

Sorry for the misunderstanding. Perhaps I could put it more clearly: "Since you have upgraded Windows, it is time to also upgrade Acrobat". The only version currently sold is XI (11).
I observe from this page http://www.adobe.com/uk/products/acrobatpro/buying-guide-upgrade-pricing.html that upgrade pricing for Acrobat 8 is only available until May 31, 2013. After that, a full price purchase will be needed.

I have a user who wants to do this same thing. I did not find any way either to default the attributes to anything other than what you see the first time. Seems like such a trivial thing, hard to believe they do not allow it. I did find a program for this called iDress but I can't seem to download it from any links on the Internet. Not sure if it is free or not, but it was recommended by a link on the Mac support site.

Printing in list form , appointments ONLY in ical, not the whole month.

Hi there, I have already done a quick scan of the net and I am unable to come up with a solution.
All I want to do is be able to print out a list of appointments (with date etc) that I have made, not in month view, but just the dates with appointments in.
Is there an App to do this? I have found ICalPrint but it wont let me try it as a demo.

I just tried this for the first time lastnight and cannot believe how something so simple does not work. I have a calendar just for birthdays because I was working on a new iPhoto calendar. I wanted to print the list of birthdays and dates so I went to Print in iCal and saw the 'Print List' selection and thought that would work great.
I selected 1/1/08 as the start date and then selected for 365 days expecting just a list of upcoming events in the calendar. Instead it wants to print page after page with every date on it for the next year even if there is nothing scheduled for that day. It just prints 'None'. How hard would it be to have it just print what is in your calendar for the next xx days. I think it would be handy to have a list of upcoming events printed out to glance at or mark up.
I am glad I am not the only one that thought this was so simple, yet impossible to do. I hope it gets changed. Maybe with Leopard it will be different.

Printer Not Showing Up In Add List again.

I made a mistake and accidently deleted my printer from the Printer List (I was removing other printers). It doesn't show up when I try to add it again.
Here is what I have done:
1) Removed the com.apple.print.PrintingPrefs.plist and com.apple.print.PrintCenter.plist
2) Downloaded the latest drives from the HP site (It's an HP Officejet Pro K550)
3) Logged out/Restarted (several times)
A funny thing has also occurred.
The drop down that usually holds the printers that can be added has looks like this:
AppleTalk
Bluetooth
Windows Printing
HP IP Printing
The blanks above are present. There are 3 blanks above the HP IP Printing and one blank below.
The blanks can be selected but not added (I thought it might have been a naming conflict and the printer was just not listing).
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

You don't say if you installed after downloading the Printer you deleted, but I suspect it's one not showing, and that you need to reinstall.

Supported Printer not showing in list of drivers after software update

I'm trying to install a supported printer HP LaserJet M1132 (M1130 Series) to my Mac Book Pro Retina (Mavericks) both directly using USB and on a network connected to a Windows XP Server.
I started by performing a software update and downloaded an infinite list of HP Drivers, excluding mine apparently.
I checked here: OS X: Printer and scanner software available for download and it is supported (this procedure is also supported on the HP website)
Network Installation:
1. Software Update
2. System Preferences
3. +
4. workgroup > server-pc > HPLaserJetM1132 (already installed an working on the XP server)
5. Use: Choose a Driver...
6. Select Software
7. DEAD END mine is not listed (tried also Generic Post Script and Generic PCL)
I also added the ADVANCED button and tried connecting directly using SMB and it works, except that I don't find the driver.
USB Installation:
1. Software Update
2. System Preferences
3. +
4. Default
5. Use: Choose a Driver...
6. Select Software
7. DEAD END
My question is, is there something else I should be doing? Do you know of a different driver that matches? Should I be posting this on an HP forum instead?

I finally managed to print from Mac OSX Mavericks on an HP LaserJet Pro M1132 MFP connected to a Windows XP Server.
Printing on the M1132 Via USB
1. Perform Software Update. If you're lucky, your printer driver will be there.
2. Connect the printer to your Mac.
3. If everything is OK, your printing should be enabled
4. If your driver is not available, try this link: HP Printer Drivers v.2.16.1 for OS X
5. If you get the message "The disk inserted is not readable by this computer" you need to
repair your disk permissions, in which case follow these steps:
1. Open Finder.
2. Select Apps.
3. Search for Disk Utility and open it.
4. Select the drive the OS is installed on.
5. Click Repair Disk Permissions.
Printing on the M1132 via network with printer connected to a Win XP Computer
On Windows XP:
1. Install the printer using the supplied driver or download one from the supplier website.
2. From Start > Printers and Faxes, right click on the printer and share. Choose a short name (ideally less than 13 characters for your printer. E.g. in my case it's M1132)
3. Make sure that you know this computer's IP address. (Ideally it is a static IP and not assigned via DHCP)
4. Install LPD. On Win XP, this is done by going to Control Panel, Add Remove Programs, Windows Components and check "Other Network File and Print Services"
On Mac:
1. Perform Software Update.
2. Go to System Preferences and then Printers and Scanners
3. Click on the +, and "Add Printer or Scanner"
4. Click on "Advanced" If you don't have one, right click and customise your toolbar.
5. In Advanced, choose "LPD/LPR" for Type and type in your URL to the printer.
E.g. lpd://192.168.1.50/M1132
6. Choose a name
7. For Use: "Select Software" and choose your driver. If you cannot see your driver, download the latest (for HP) from here: HP Printer Drivers v.2.16.1 for OS X
