Printer not picking up Wireless

Unable to print wireless from my Apple Ipad to Officejet 6100 printer.  I do not have a standalone computer only an Ipad.  Is it still possible to use this printer without a computer.  Help?

Hi @PatC4
Yes it is. A computer is not a necessary device for you to print from your iPad. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue, and let me know the outcome of your efforts; Printing Over a Wireless Network with Apple's AirPrint FAQs.
I hope this helps.

  • *BOOT CAMP* Windows XP not picking up wireless signal on Lion

    I just got a new iMac two days ago and was able to install Windows XP from my old Dell Latitude boot disk. Yes, I thought it was odd... But it worked. I do understand that Lion only provides Windows 7 drivers in Boot Camp Assistant, but I was able to install Boot Camp 3.0 and 3.1 drivers for XP, right from the Apple Support Boot Camp driver link.
    Well... My main issue lies here... When I switch to the XP side, it wont pick up a wireless signal. That's all I need so that I can start updating Windows from the internet, but it is not picking anything up.
    I'm assuming that I am just missing the driver, but like I said, I installed the drivers provided by Apple. This is very frustrating and am not sure what to do.
    Can someone PLEASE point me in the right direction? Thanks in advance.
    Brian

    This appears to be a problem with some of the newest MacBooks. There are several posts on this issue. It is possible that, as you seem to have noticed, switching to an NTFS formatted partition will solve the problem. See e.g. http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=5947955&#5947955

  • Web Report Viewer - Default Printer not picked up

    We have a web application that previews Crystal Reports and prints via ActiveX. The report is set to a printer called 'RICOHC4000Letters'.
    The client side has another printer call 'RICOHC4000' with the same printer driver. And I understand that the ActiveX printing looks for the printer driver on the client side. So if you understand what I mean, the default printer when printing is set to 'RICOHC4000' instead of the one set on the report.
    We are using Crystal Reports 2008 SP3, FP3.3.
    Hope anyone can help or anyone has run in the same situation.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Noel,
    If you search using here you'll find post on how to. Here's one part I used with a common dialog box to select the printer, note this is a Windows app:
    private void btnSetPrinter_Click(object sender, System.EventArgs e)
         System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument pDoc = new System.Drawing.Printing.PrintDocument();
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintReportOptions rasPROpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.Controllers.PrintReportOptions();
        CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions MYPRTOpts = new CrystalDecisions.ReportAppServer.ReportDefModel.PrintOptions();
         if (rdoCurrent.Checked)
              pDoc.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
            MYPRTOpts.PrinterName = cboCurrentPrinters.Text;
            MYPRTOpts.PaperSize = (CrPaperSizeEnum)
                   pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes[cboCurrentPaperSizes.SelectedIndex].Kind;
            MYPRTOpts.PaperSource = (CrPaperSourceEnum)
                   pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSources[cboCurrentPaperTrays.SelectedIndex].Kind;
              // added the below line to verify the changes work.
            MYPRTOpts.PaperOrientation = CrPaperOrientationEnum.crPaperOrientationLandscape;
            MYPRTOpts.PrinterDuplex = CrPrinterDuplexEnum.crPrinterDuplexVertical;
            MYPRTOpts.DissociatePageSizeAndPrinterPaperSize = true;
         else
              pDoc.PrinterSettings.PrinterName = cboDefaultPrinters.Text;
            MYPRTOpts.PrinterName = cboDefaultPrinters.Text;
            MYPRTOpts.PaperSize = (CrPaperSizeEnum)
                   pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSizes[cboDefaultPaperSizes.SelectedIndex].Kind;
            MYPRTOpts.PaperSource = (CrPaperSourceEnum)
                   pDoc.PrinterSettings.PaperSources[cboDefaultPaperTrays.SelectedIndex].Kind;
            MYPRTOpts.PrinterDuplex = CrPrinterDuplexEnum.crPrinterDuplexVertical;
            MYPRTOpts.DissociatePageSizeAndPrinterPaperSize = true;
        rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.ModifyPrintOptions(MYPRTOpts);
         MessageBox.Show("Printer set.", "RAS", MessageBoxButtons.OK,MessageBoxIcon.Information );
         rptClientDoc.PrintOutputController.PrintReport(rasPROpts);
         MessageBox.Show("Printing report.", "RAS", MessageBoxButtons.OK,MessageBoxIcon.Information );
    You can simply ignore that part and this should allow you to print. Also realize this is server side printing only. One option would be to export to PDF, stream that to the users PC and then they can print it locally.
    Thank you

  • Wifi printer not visible from wireless devices after becoming a wired printer

    Lexmark S515 printer: Wireless worked fine for about a year, now it doesn't stay connected to my EA-4500 router (I suspect the printer wifi radio is flaking out).
    So I hooked it up via ethernet cable to my EA4500 router.
    Now, I can only access ther printer (static IP: 192.168.1.101) from other wired devices on the EA-4500; can't access it from  wirelessly connected devices.
    Anyone know what I should change to get it to be visible from wired and wireless devices on my home network?

    Try to check what's the IP Addresses of your wireless devices. Powercycle your whole network - unplug for 10 seconds and plug them back again. Start with the modem > router > printer > computers/wireless devices. You can also try connecting your printer directly to your wireless laptop and check if it can detect the printer.

  • Macbook and iPod Touch not picking up wireless signal

    I have had some issues pertaining to the wireless internet in my house.
    About a week and a half ago, I discovered that my iPod Touch and Macbook suddenly was not connecting to my wireless internet; I receive a message in the AirPort when trying to connect that states "Connection failed." I've tried several methods to resolving this issue, including simple things, but none have been successful. I have made no changes to any preferences, on my Macbook or the wireless internet, during the time it stopped connecting.
    The strange thing that I discovered yesterday was that the wireless internet was working on my Wii.
    Does anyone have any suggestions or ideas as to why I am unable to connect?
    Thank you in advance.

  • W510 ( 4391 ), T410s ( 2904), not picking the Wireless Network Driver , windows 7 64 bit

    Hi Team,
    The two Models W510 ( 4391 ), T410s ( 2904) somehow skip to update the Wireless driver

    1 . updated the update retrever tool to new version 5 , it does download the Wireless driver to its repository, however the "system update" tool on the computers does not show/install this driver
    2. i reimaged the computer too, still no go
    3. created new repository folder when updated the update retrever to new version
    Thank you

    I'm very excited to finally have a solution for this problem. Thank You Balaji for figuring this out. I've been struggling with this for a number of years, and had only one USB Hard Drive that worked. I too have VMware workstation, and had the missing files
    in "c:\windows\inf." I can say with certainty that I did not delete the files from that folder, but something is common in both of our situations. Maybe it has to do with VMware, and some of it's updates over the years. I'm also using nCompute to share out
    a networked desktop via the wire.
    One more thing worthy of mention is this machine was an update from Windows Vista, and the USB hard drive that worked was configured back than. So although I could never add another HD, at least I had the one.
    Now with having copied over the files, I can plugin other USB enclosures with different drives and they too are working.
    Like you mentioned, it was always possible to use USB devices within my Virtual Machines, so it was clear that the USB ports were functional. I actually got the files from a clean Windows 7 VM, copying out the \windows\inf folder and doing a compare between
    the the real one and the virtual one. I found the two missing files you mentioned, along with 8 others. I went ahead and included them all in your fix.
    It worked, Amazing. Thanks again. :O)

  • Wireless printer not staying connected

    Hello,
    I have been having a problem with me Officejet 6500 Wireless all in one printer
    I have it wirelessly connected to my treadnet router.
    I can initially see the printer and can print from it on all computers on my network but after awhile I can no longer see it and the only way to fix the problem is to unplug the router recpnnect power and reconnect the printer to the router.
    I have tried setup a static ip on the printer but the problem still persists.

    Officejet 6500 and 8500's are pretty well known for falling off the network upon sleeping.  Sorry...
    Setting a static IP may not actually work unless you pick an IP address outside the range that the DHCP server issues.
    A quick search of Trendnet told me that on most of them DHCP serves-up IP addresses from 192.168.1.100 to 192.168.1.200 so if you pick a number outside this range for your static IP that would be best.
    Are you in a position to use Ethernet instead of wireless?  That may solve the problem.  Also, a nightly reboot of the router may help (put it on a lamp timer to cut power - even for a few hours in the middle of the night - then reboot).
