Printer Notifications w/Canon IR 5000-6000 Copiers

Any ideas on how to turn off the print notification with the Canon
ImageRunner 5000-6000 networked copiers? We have turned off Notify on the
client, turned off Notify in eDirectory on the Printer Object and have
turned off notification on the printer itself via the web management
console, however, we still get random print notifications to random users,
not the person who sent the print job. This is very frustating and my
endusers are losing patience. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated.

  • Poor Colour Print Quality using Canon Pixima 5000

    Hi there.
I am printing to an IP5000 off the back of an airport form MBAir with iPhoto. THe colours on the printouts are completely washed out with either a heavy blue tinge (for dark photo's) or redish tinge for lighter photo's.
I have tried HP daily paper 190grm and Kodak, both suffer the same problem, so it feels like the settins or printer driver is at fault.. can anyone point me at a calibration exercise to improve this? or offer any advice?

    Hello David,
I use the iP5200 at home for photo printing, which is a slightly later model to your iP5000. From the iPhoto print dialog open and the iP5000 set as the printer, I first select the paper type in the Presets menu, such as Photo Paper Plus Glossy II, which is a Canon 260gsm high gloss stock. Not sure which setting would be ideal for the papers you are using, especially given that the Preset (profiles) are based on Canon papers.
I then click Print to proceed to the normal print dialog and ensure the Color Matching menu is set to Canon Color Matching?
Also, I change to Quality & Media, ensure the media type menu showing the same paper selected in the previous Presets menu and then set the Print Quality to High?
Again, this procedure is for Canon stock. Using the Canon paper profiles may provide the unwanted results you are getting with the HP and Kodak papers, although I have used Kodak photo paper previously and the results have been okay.
If you cannot get a good result for your stock using the Canon paper profiles you may have to look at using ColorSync instead of Canon Color Matching. This would then require you to have an ICC profile for the paper you are using to ensure you get a reasonable result. Check the vendors web site for a profile for the papers you have. This will go a long way to helping you obtain an improved colour output.
Another suggestion would be to purchase a small amount of Canon photo paper. You could then print from iPhoto with the correct paper profile selected and see whether you are happy with the output. This would help determine if the paper is the cause of your current symptom.

  • Photoshop CS 4 Print problem with Canon copiers via IP

Try to print from Photoshop CS 4 to two Canon color copiers and we get this error message, "Before you can perform printer-related tasks such as page setup or printing a document, you need to install a printer"
    Fifteen Macs:
Mac Pro towers, MacBook Pro, PowerMac G5 towers, iMac Intel, PowerBook G4. Many of each.
Mac OS 10.5.7 or .8  and one Mac with 10.4.11 just to eliminate the 10.5 question.
Canon Color Copier iPR Server, Canon Color Copier iR C3220, HP LaserJet 5000, HP LaserJet Color 5550 and ColorBurst RIP to an Epson Stylus Pro 9800.
Adobe CS3 Design Standard & Premium, Office 2004, Safari, Firefox Entourage and Filemaker Pro 9.
All the above Macs and applications can print to all printers with no issues.
Installed Adobe CS4 Standard & Premium on the Mac Pro towers, MacBook Pro, PowerMac G5 towers.
Photoshop CS4 will not print to the two Canon copiers. It will print to the other printers. Photoshop CS3 on these same Macs WILL print to the Canon copiers. All the other apps will print to the Canon copiers.
Adobe has a tech note on this, ID KB409119 did not help.
Deleted all prefs, created new users, deleted and reinstalled Adobe CS4, deleted all printers, downloaded latest drivers and installed printers fresh.
None of this worked. Not to mention this problem is different from that tech note because Photoshop CS 4 will print just fine to the other HP printers.
Tried setting up the one Canon Color Copier iPR Server using Appletalk. That worked.
Why is there a problem with Photoshop CS4 and Canon IP printers?
Just to recap for you all that just skim thru this:
All Macs did this at once. So no fluke corrupt file, plus all the other apps print just fine to these printers. Adobe has problems with CS4.

Try running a reset printing system. Open System Preferences > Print & Fax. Then hold down the Control key and click your mouse in the Printers list. A menu showing Reset printing system should appear. Click this.
Now restart your Mac and then add the Canon driver again. Hopefully this gets things working for you again.

  • Hp psc 950 printer only prints black and white, no driver for Canon lpb 5000

    Hi everyone,
I am trying to install my two printers on mac book pro.
    Problem 1.
My HP psc 950 printer is only printing in a bad black and white quality - no color at all?? - any idea where I can download a printerdriver that is actually up to date? The one mac book has preinstalled seems not to be the right one?
    Problem 2.
My may can´t find a driver for my other printer Canon LPB 5000 at all. I´ve already downloaded the canon drivers for Mac book  - so I see a long list of Canon drivers but the LPB 5000 is not there and I don´t find any download of it in the web. I work with os x 10.7 and there is just an old mac driver for 10.6 to be found on the Canon website. I downloaded it but still does not work.
Hope someone can help. Both printers used to work fine on Windows but I am changing to Mac now and need to get them work.
    Thanks,
    K.

  • Missing "Print Settings" in Canon printer dialog

    Hi,
I've Googled all over for this, but I haven't found an answer to this particular question. Maybe someone in here would know?
I want to print a photo from Lightroom 3 on a MacBook Pro running Mac OS X 10.6 Snow Leopard. I have a Canon MP800R printer. I want Lightroom to manage the color, and I'm able to choose the glossy paper profile I want in the Print Job pane in Lightroom. However, when I click Print and get to the part where I should turn off color management in the printer dialog I'm not able to do so. There is no Print Settings section in the dialog box. As far as I understand, all the important stuff goes on in this Printer Settings section, see http://www.computer-darkroom.com/lr2_print/lr2-print.htm. Why don't I see Print Settings?
I should add that if I go ahead anyway with Lightroom managed printing the colors are off, but if I use Managed by Printer the colors look decent.
    Jan

OK  and to be sure: Do you have Color Management by Printer set to OFF ?
It's under  -I have a Canon Pixma 5000- Color Intensity-
    then:
    That works fine here.
(btw  A Canon photoprinter like the Pixma 4820 is very good and cheap.)

  • Printing color on Canon iRC4080i

I just joined a company where I need to print fliers in color from my mac. I have OSX 10.5.8. The printer is a Canon iRC4080i, and I was given the mac printer driver that goes with it. I print through the network - my computer sees the printer, and I can print easily in black and white. But I cannot get it to print color at all.
The office manager says I should have settings where I can choose black and white or color. All I see is "color matching", and then it takes me to "automatic".
The printer driver manual says the printer should be able to automatically tell if I want to print color or black and white, and do so accordingly. But it doesn't really matter what I do, it won't print in color.
Even though the printer driver came with the computer manual, and it says I should be able to print osx 10.4 or later, I'm wondering if the driver needs to be updated. When I click on the print and fax in the system preferences, it says I am using a generic postscript printer for the ir c4080_D printer, driver version 1.0.
Any suggestions on how to get it to print in color? It's getting imperative that I get this solved soon.
    Thanks!
    Brenda

The printer is not set to B&W since everyone in the company has to print in color.
As I mentioned above, with the correct Canon printer driver installed you will override the default colour setting in the copier. The Generic PS driver on OS X cannot override this default and will print as per this setting. This explains why others in the company are printing in colour and why you would not be.
I uninstalled the printer driver 3.2 version that came with the printer, and installed the PPS version that you suggested.
The v3.2 driver was one of the drivers I mentioned. There was no need to uninstall this driver as it would have worked. With the v3.2 driver being used the colour setting is located under the Quality menu > Color Mode.
The print dialog box did not change. I didn't have any different options for color printing than I had with the other driver version. And it still just printed in B&W, even though on my print preview it looks color and all options I could find pointed to that it should be printing color.
When using the PPD for the C4080, the colour setting is located in Printer Features > Color 1 > Color Mode. The default setting is Printers Default. So if the copier is set to b&w as a default then the document will print in b&W. So open this Color Mode menu and select Color. You will see the other option is Black and White.

I'm trying to print an Ancestry document from an iPad 2 using air print.  The printer is a Canon MG5350 (on the Apple approved list) I have no difficulty printing but only in portrait format.  I've tried changing printer preferences from my computer but even though the Canon accepts the changes it will not print landscape - can anyone advise please?

    Hi,
How do you connect the printer to the XP machine ? If USB, you need to make that machine as a Print server. Please try this:

Not printing text only on Canon--grahics print ok.  Not printer problem.  Prints ok on a Brother and another network Apple prints ok on Canon.  Believe a computer setting was inadvertently reset.  What setting and how do I reset?

Without your printer model numbers, readers can only give you vague general directions.
    System Preferences > Print&Fax > ...
... shows a list of all set-up printers.
If you are having serious problems, it makes sense to "Reset the Printing System" (which also removes all printer set-ups) and add back each printer. It only takes a few minutes.

  • I cannot print on my Canon MF-4350d after upgrading to Mountain Lion.

I previously had Snow Leopard and printed on my Canon MF-4350d with no issues.  After Mountain Lion was installed, I get an error message "Failed to read module.  Re-install.: 20600"  I went to the Canon website and downloaded the most current driver and reinstalled.  It still doesn't work.  Is there away to delete the printer info so I can try a clean install?  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    -Walt

In System Preferences -> Print & Scan, right-click onto a printer, then click Reset Printing System. Upon confirming your printers and scanners will be removed and you can start from scratch installing them. But before doing so, please note:
Canon printer drivers usually come with the OS and are updated via Software Update. Try that. If no update is available, you can download the latest Canon driver set here.

  • Leopard printing problems with HP Laserjet 5000

Hi to anyone who might be able to help.
I've just installed Leopard, and now my HP 5000 Laserjet (hooked up via ethernet) will not print. When I print, the computer says it is printing, but the printer never prints anything, and even though the printer shows up in the print window, the computer never actually finds the printer. I have downloaded the latest driver from the HP web site, which hasn't helped at all....
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Angus

    Hi Gus1,
Since it's hooked up via Ethernet, I assume then it's a 5000N? We have one of those and it works just fine in Leopard. So there must be something wrong in your setup. Two things you can try.
    1) It's an old, kind of slow protocol, but it works. Turn on AppleTalk. It's in the System Preferences under the Network tab. Choose "Ethernet" in the left pane. Click the "Advanced" button. Click on the AppleTalk tab and turn on the check box for "Make AppleTalk Active". Choose "Print & Fax" in the System Preferences and remove any entries for the 5000. Click the Add button and then the Default button. The 5000 should show up and show AppleTalk as its connection. Choose it and click Add.
    2) On the printer. Press the Menu button to the right once so the display reads, "Information Menu". Press the Item button twice to the right so the display reads, "Print Configuration". Press the Select button. The printer will kick out two sheets. On the first page under the "Printer Information" heading is the IP address for your printer. It's the second entry from the bottom labeled, "HP JetSend Address: ip: 192.168.5.6 (your actual address will of course be different).
In the "Print & Fax" heading of the System Preferences, remove any entries for the 5000. Click the Add button and then the IP button. Under the Protocol pull down menu, choose "HP Jet Direct - Socket". Under "Address:", enter the IP address on your printout, like my example of 192.168.5.6. Under "Name:", put in something meaningful, like "HP LaserJet 5000N". Assuming you have the PPD installed, then under "Print Using:' choose "HP LaserJet 5000 Series". Click the Add button.

  • Printing problems with Canon Pixma IP4700

I used to use a PC, photoshop and my Canon pixma IP4700. With this i could achieve perfect results on an A4 image. I have embedded the correct paper profile and my colour management system was set up just right. I have now upgraded to a mac(running Snow Leopard OS) , but i am now getting problems with my prints. I opened up the exact same .psd file without changing anything and sent it off to print on my canon. The result has came out far too bright?. When i used my PC I would have a lot more controls within my printer driver screen, but now with the mac the printer driver screen dosnt have very many controls at all. Even when i soft proof the print on the print screen it dose not show it any ware near as bright as the end result print.
I am a student of photography and i have asked a few of my class mates and they say that they have had the same problem. They tend to use a professional printers, but as i had received such perfect prints before I know this result is obtainable.
Is there anything anyone can suggest to help??
If there is any more information i can provide to help just let me know.
    Thanks a lot in advance

    Hi there,
In reading your post I'd be curious to see the cups error log. Given that the Gutenprint drivers would not print also, I would say that something is wrong with the core printing system. The log would show which filter is causing the spooler to stop.
Thinking that it is CUPS related, I would try resetting printing system (if you haven't done so already). Then I would add the queue again using the Gutenprint driver for starters. If this doesn't work then no need to try the Canon driver.
Note that the Canon test print is not an actual print but an instruction to output the inbuilt data. But the test print via the Gutenprint printer queue is a page generated by CUPS. So this would suggest that the CUPS usb backend is okay and something further up the spool creation process is failing. Again, the cups error log would give some clues as to what is going wrong. As to why both driver sets are failing is interesting...

  • Printing Error with Canon MF6500

I'm trying to print with my Canon MF6500 but I keep getting a printer error saying that there is an error in the connection. The strange thing is that it was working fine a couple days ago. Here are a few things:
    Things I've Done:
-printed using another macbook with the same USB cord (worked)
-uninstalled and reinstalled ALL printers (did not work)
-downloaded the driver from the canon website (did not work)
    -used multiple USB cords
Things that might have caused the problem:
-Used a Canon Pixma iP1800 to print
-Used a HP photosmart C1300 to scan and print
another thing to note is that when I install the printer it doesn't automatically detect the software anymore, I have to select the proper printer driver (Canon MF6500 UFR II)

    anguonly wrote:
Maybe the process "UFR II BackGrounder" is the problem but I don't want to shut out something important
The Backgrounder service provides communication between the UFR2 driver and the Mac. If this service fails to run and connect to the printer then it will cause errors, such as the one you are having. You could look at stopping this service, it will restart by itself, or restarting the Mac will do the same.
    With all that you have done so far I suggest you look at removing the UFR2 driver and associated files and then install v2.21 again. First remove the existing MF6500 printer queue in Print & Fax. Then trash the following files;
    System Volume/Library/Printers/Canon/UFR2
    System Volume/Library/LaunchAgents/jp.co.canon.UFR2.BG.plist
    System Volume/Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources/CNTD**Z*2.ppd.gz
Where * indicates a character string that represents the printer model, and 2 indicates a character string that represents the corresponding language.
Then restart the Mac and install the v2.21 UFR2 driver.
