Printer output diferent from Preview output (R6i)
I have a report (Report Builder 6.0.8.8.3) configured for A4 pages (210mm Width X 297mm Height), portrait. Everything seems well: Main Section properties set, printer driver and paper set (Xerox Docuprint P8e PCL-5e), layout ok. If I print with DESTYPE=Preview output is good, but if I print with DESTYPE=Printer I loose 0.7 inch at the right margin (I'm using the full page width).
I've tried with other page sizes (8.5" x 11" and 8.5" x 14") and came up with the same problem.
What can it be? Is it a bug? Is it printer-related?
Any help os direction for papers will be welcomed.
Thanks in advance.

HI
I think this would require programming to determine the tray to be used. The problem is that each printer model can have different tray selection commands that are required. Also, if the form is used across multiple areas, each area might have different models.
However, for a single printer YES,the form would have to be specific to the printer being used.

Chen

Can not print a pdf from preview. It crashes every time from 2 different printers.
I can not print a pdf from preview. I have tried at two separate locations with two different printers.
I am having the same kind of problem when trying to print any kind of pdf: big, small, text only, with pictures. I dont know how it happend. Now it is happening in both my imac and macbook pro both runing the latest Lion MacOS with all updates installed. It is weird one moment my machine was printing ok then it stopped working. I have updated the printer software I have a canon image class mf4350. Also the curious thing is that I can print the same pdf document from adobe acrobat pro on the same computers with out any kind of problems.

When i print a pdf from preview it prints strange characters - it looks fine on screen
when i print a pdf from preview it prints strange characters - it looks fine on screen
You can also try opening the PDF with preview, then doing a copy and paste to TextEdit and printing from there.
Adobe makes it easier, but you do have software to accomplish this.
Only download Adobe reader from this site, to avoid "fakes/spoofs/malware" that will cause damage to your machine.

Printing PDF brochure from Preview and only graphics print, no text
Spent 30 minutes on the phone with Lexmark. They said with Windows, you would select "Print as Image" under the advanced printing dialogue. I don't see anything like this in MacOS. If I save the PDF as a PNG, then open the PNG in Preview, it prints fine.
I also had this "no text"-problem with a Lexmark C530dn when printing some PDFs from Preview on 10.5.2. The problematic PDFs all were datasheets and papers I downloaded from sources like SAP. I installed the newest version (2.0) of the C530 printer driver, but it did not help.
Using "Generic Postscript Printer" works, but I loose duplex printing, for example. But printing the documents from Adobe Reader 8.1.2 works, too, and I can use the Lexmark driver and have duplex printing etc. -

Flipped even-numbered pages when printing double-sided from Preview
My HP 2015dn printer has the ability to print double-sided. Yet I'm finding that when printing from Preview, the even-numbered pages are flipped 180 degrees. I can see the rationale for this, but I'd like to disable it and have the orientation the same for both odd- and even-numbered pages. There is a setting in the print dialog to "automatically rotate each page," but that is not what I want.
Any ideas? That fixed it. The pdfs were rotated so that they would appear in landscape orientation on my screen (they're originally photocopies of side-by-side book pages). Well, now I understand the difference between short-edge and long-edge binding! Thanks for your help.

Can't Print PDF Consistently from Preview Application
I am running OS 10.3.9 and Preview 2.1.0. I have downloaded a PDF file that has 16 pages. I have tried to print the document to my LaserWriter 16/600PS and HP 2510 PhotoSmart All-in-One printers. I can't get pages to print consistently. If I select "all", I may get only the first page. If I select a specific page, I don't get that page...maybe page 1 or nothing. The printer hangs in the "processing" mode. I also try to print from the "Print Preview" view in Print dialog window (not from the main Preview window), but can't get consistent results. Is this possibly because the PDF was an Adobe Acrobat file and Preview doesn't handle the pagination correctly when it was opened? I don't want to have to use Acrobat Reader if I don't have to.

Printing PDF files from Preview without annotations
I've annotated a bunch of PDFs in preview, but I would like to print them out without any annotations. Is this possible?
Thanks!Print the originals, sans markup. Or, if you didn't save them with a different name, remove the annotations from a copy, and then print.

Printing problem with PDF graphs from preview
Whenever I print PDF files from preview or from safari, some graphs print incorrectly, although they are displayed correctly on the screen. This only happens with black and white figures and either a negative image with the black and white are reversed is printed or the background of the graphic just prints as a black box. Colour elements are unaffected. This doesn't happen when printing the same files using Adobe Reader or Adobe Professional. Any suggestions for tweaking this, or am I going to have to start using the Adobe plugins instead?
Please try it on Adobe Reader version 10.1.0 , Please note that this forum is for Adobe Reader on android and not for PDF Viewer.

Upgrade EPSON driver (C2800): text no longer prints from preview
Hi,
After installing the new EPSON driver under Lion, I can no longer print PDF's from Preview correctly.
When I print a file, only the graphics are printed, the text is not present.
I have tried printing several different documents, I have reinstalled the printer two times, but the problems remains.
The printer (Epson AL-C2800) is connected via its network port, to a Time Capsule.
When I print from my Windows 7 desktop, all is fine, so I assume the problem is situated on my MacBook Pro.
Has anybody an idea how to resolve this issue? It is very annoying, because I use my MBP most of the time.
Thanks in advance for any feedback,

Why are prints from Preview cut off at bottom of page
When I print a PDF from Preview the print has about 3/4" cut off the bottom of a portrait document or from the right of a landscape document.. When I print the same document from Acrobat Reader, it prints correctly. I use Page Setup before printing. The scaling in the other direction seems correct which makes the cut-off a mystery.
I prefer Preview for PDFs as it is much faster than Acrobat Reader. The cut-off prints have caused me grief when I have not detected them. What is going on here?I have the same problem and can confirm it also happens in Leopard. There was traffic on a similar Leopard issue printing landscape to Windows shared printers that was fixed in 10.5.2, but it doesn't seemed to be solved for my situation (printing to CUPS shared printer). Note that it seems to be a bug in the way Preview creates a PDF for printing, since Adobe Reader works fine, and "lpr <filename>" from the command line will also work.
If you have any more info since you posted, I would be interested. -
Cannot print duplex from Preview
When I use my Epson Stylus Photo RX680 to print a document in Pages, I can use the duplex setting to print on both sides of the paper; when I print a document from Preview, the duplex setting is unavailable—grayed out. I've tried opening a PDF in Acrobat Reader, but that has almost no flexibility in print settings, thus no duplex setting.
How can I print a PDF on both sides?I don't have an Epson RX680 and regrettably am not familiar with that printer, but let me ask you a couple of clarifying questions that, if it doesn't solve your issue outright, will hopefully provide some additional info for other pro bono helpers here to guide their troubleshooting suggestions.
1. In the print dialog box that presents the printer pulldown menu and presets pulldown menu, there is a button to the right of the printer pull-down with either a ▲ or a ▼ symbol. If it is ▼, click on that button to expand the print dialog box to reveal additional print dialog box configuration options.
2. Underneath the newly revealed "Orientation" buttons, there is another pulldown menu that, at least on mine right now, has "Preview" selected. When you activate that pulldown menu, do you have a "Layout" choice? Can you select it or is it grayed out?
3. If you can select that, some additional pull-down menus will be revealed, one of which is "Two-Sided." Choices within there, at least for me, are off, long-edge binding, and short-edge binding. Do you have those options and can you select any of them other than "off" or are those options grayed out?
4. If you can get that far, then you should be able to click on the print button, in order to print duplex from your duplex-capable printer. -
Preview freezes everytime I select print! What's up with Lion... Leopard was far better, too many bugs in Lion.
I cannot print a pdf from preview either. Have you found out how to correct this yet?

How to print with "Scale: 100%" by default from Preview
The print dialogue in Preview is set by default to "Scale to Fit".
I never need this, I always need "Scale: 100%".
It's annoying to change all the time I have to print a PDF from Preview the setting!
I tried to save the print setting, but it does not work.
So. Is there a way to set the print dialogue by default to "Scale: 100%" ?
Mayby with a Terminal command?AFAICT, only for PDF files. If you want to report this issue to Apple's engineering, send a bug report or an enhancement request via its Bug Reporter system. To do this, join the Mac Developer Program—it's free and available for all Mac users and gets you a look at some development software. Since you already have an Apple username/ID, use that. Once a member, go to Apple BugReporter and file your bug report or enhancement request. The nice thing with this procedure is that you get a response and a follow-up number; thus, starting a dialog with engineering.
