Printer plugin - defaulting to adobe

I am trying to select different printer drivers to suit a Tallygenicom printer. When I choose other driver ... nothing changes.. i noticed in Finder that the plugin files where "adobe photoshop" what should they be?

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums! I see your HP Photosmart C309a keeps defaulting to the photo tray as opposed to the main tray, you went in and changed the default tray back to the main tray but it still pulls from the photo tray.
I want to make sure when you are selecting the main tray you are changing the settings for ALL print jobs and not just a single job. If you are changing the settings for a single print job this would be why it keeps defaulting back to the photo tray. Take a look below to get started and change the print settings for ALL jobs:

I've done scans for malware, which I suspected, but nothing showed up, nor corrected it with cleaning.
I had this problem before, and I found directions on how to rest the printer within Firefox, but I've forgotten how or where I got it.
I did try to re-install in control panel, but this appears to be a firefox issue. How do i rest the plugin or Firefox to once again print PDFs from browser pages. I need to use this feature printing receipts etc.

Are you using a toolbar button (Create PDF extension) or a printer driver (selecting Adobe PDF or Distiller in the Print dialog) to generate the PDF? Older versions of Create PDF have been reported not to work any more (by older I mean from Acrobat X or earlier), but the printing method should still work.

My windows default printer is an HP 2015, but when I print anything from Firefox it defaults to Adobe. Can I fix this?

Sorry, Firefox doesn't use the Windows "default printer" as the default printer, but rather it uses the last used printer as the "default". That doesn't always happen when the printer involved goes into stand-by and is "offline", from what I have seen on my small LAN.
Just one of the hundreds of print related Bugs or nuisances in Firefox that I doubt will ever be fixed, until they write all new code for printing

Can I print Crystal report in Adobe by just hitting print??

I have my saved my report in Infoview (BO) and if I hit print it asks me to install
u201CCrystal report print control u201Csoftware.
And if I choose export option it gives me few options and I can then print.
Now my question is, is it possible to print the report in adobe once I hit print? Can that be done as default settings??

Can't "Print" to disk with Adobe PDF 8.0 Printer

If I want to create a PDF, I select "Print" from the File menu.
In the Print Dialog box I select "Adobe PDF 8.0" as the printer.
Then click on the "Print" button and the "Save As" dialog appears.
Select "Desktop" and click "Save" button.
It acts like its "printing" but nothing happens, and the "printed" pdf never appears on the desktop.
Results are similar regardless of the application I start in.
I'm using:
Mac OS 10.6.5
Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.2.5
I've uninstalled and re-installed a fresh copy of Adobe Acrobat Pro 8.0 (then did all of the upgrade patches to 8.2.5)
Where do I start to troubleshoot this?

FIXED IT!!! I worked out that all the problems came down to a single file in my preferences: ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.print.AdobePDF8/com.adobe.print.AdobePDF8.Defaults.xml now I opened it up and compared it to a version that was working... >** Excerpt from not working version ** ><dict> <key>com.adobe.print.AdobePDF.PrintSettings.PDFJobOptionsPath</key> <string>/Library/Application Support/Adobe/Adobe PDF/Settings/Test(1).joboptions</string> >** Excerpt from working version ** ><dict> <key>com.adobe.print.AdobePDF.PrintSettings.PDFJobOptionsPath</key> <string>default</string> I think what was going on was that the printer was trying to print to job options that either dont exist or dont work... It would stop the queue and also the printer didnt even have any PDF setting in the print dialog box. Now it works fine. So all you would have to do is delete the file, delete the printer from the print manager and then repair the printer from Acrobat and I should work fine!

How do I choose Preview as default over Adobe Reader?

Once you update one thing . . . can of worms. How do I choose preview as default over Adobe Reader?
Here's why I want to change the default viewer, in case anyone has ideas: When I updated to Reader X (as required by some of our industry-specific programs) my Quickbooks Online financial program no longer prints in either Safari or Firefox.
I called QB and they said they only support Reader 9.3. Uninstalled Reader X, tried install 9.3. No go--isn't compatible with Mac OS 10.6.7. Gave QB my "thoughts" on their not being up to speed with Reader updates . . .
So, maybe changing to Preview as the default reader will work. Adobe 10 has overruled Preview.
How do I set the preference to go back to Preview?

You cannot add the printer using the download you were given because your printer is not part of that driver suite.
Since you have the imagePRESS Server A3100 you will have to get the OS X 10.8 driver from Canon. After you download the correct driver you can then double-click to open the file and then run the installer. This will copy all the files including the Fiery plugins to your Mac.
Once the driver installer has completed you can then add the printer, selecting the Default icon and then the A3100 from the list of advertised devices. When you select it the Use menu should automatically change to A3100 model. When it does, click Add to complete the print queue creation.

Computer: Apple MacPro Tower, 6GB 800 MHz DDR2 FB-DIMM, Quad-Core Intel Xeon, Processor speed = 3.2 GHz

Correct way to install new driver is go to Printer Utility and delete That printer from the list.
Then install the new driver.
Then go back to Printer Utility and add the new driver Back
Then go to systems preferences and to Print Fax (or Printer if no longer setup for fax) and set up for the the printer and set as default.
This way you shouldn't have to go into either print menu or Page setup menu and set for desired printer.
most hp printer in the pint menu you click copies and pages and mouse down to two sided pages you choose either book (facing pages) or Tablet (printed as you would a Tablet that's bound at the top.
you need to test a two page document to see which does correctly for you. Its best never to have the application set for two sided. in fact if you have set for two sided in both one counter acts the the other.
So set it only in the printer menu and no where else.
Also once you set up you can save printer profiles that you can go back to click on the Presets button mouse down to very bottom save with a anme you can remember even put the words two-sided in title then save. Then you can go to that preset and print your heart out.

Print quality from Android Adobe Reader

Hello
Last night I decided to print a PDF attachment from my phone using Cloud Print. I have an Epson ink jet printer connected to my Windows 7 computer. When I tried, I was disappointed to find that the document printed in draft mode and was not of sufficient quality to use so ended up printing from the Windows Adobe Reader. If I were to print an email from Gmail on my phone, I do not have this problem. Draft mode is not the default setting for my printer driver. Is there any way to set the print quality for the Android Adobe Reader or for it to use the default setting for the printer?

Hi,
Yes the field page n of m is used normally for printing page numbers. But it won't display the current page of total pages by itself. You have to set the run time property to n (current page ) and m (Total number of pages). Carefully select the # (current page ) and ## (Total number of pages). Hope this works for you.
My requirement is to have the user control on current page. For Example:
Example for a Invoice with 5 PO items (stands on 2 pages) :
1st page is the letter : no page number
2nd page is the 1st page of the 1st copy of the invoice : we should read u201C1 / 2u201D
3rd page is the 2nd page of the 1st copy of the invoice : we should read u201C2 / 2u201D
4th page is the 1st page of the 2nd copy of the invoice : we should read u201C1 / 2u201D
5th page is the 2nd page of the 2nd copy of the invoice : we should read u201C2 / 2u201D
Presently i cam getting the current page number for page 4th as 3 / 2 and for 5th page 4 / 2. I could able to control the total number of pages from print program. But when i am printing the second copy (4th and 5th pages), I couldn't able to control the current page number. I need to initialize the Current page count (4th page ) as 1.
I have used the follwing java scripting:
this.rawValue = wv_pages - xfa.layout.page(this)
where wv_pages is total no of pages calculated from print program.
Please help me in this regard with some formcal or java scripting conditions.

Unable to print to file in adobe acrobat 9 pro, windows 7 OS

ok, so i've been having this problem since 16/1/2012. I download a pdf file from online, open it and attempted to combine multiple slides into 1 slide like below:
my printer cannot print duplex so i have to combine multiple slides to 1 in order to print that way. anyways, i always select the option of "Adobe PDF" under the "Printer" box. I don't change anything else. I am then prompted to save the file as below:
so after that i click "Save" and they gave me this warning message.
in case you cannot see what's written in the dialogue box, here's what it says:
When you create a PostScript file, you must rely on system fonts and use document fonts.
Please go to printer properties, "Adobe PDF Settings" page and turn OFF the option "Rely on system fonts only; do not use document fonts."
I click "Ok" and another message appears:
I click "OK" and then another message appears:
So i clicked "OK" again and then nothing happens. After I followed the instructions to rely on system fonts, I tried doing it agian and everything seems ok. Flattening document etc like below:
and when it has finished, nothing happens. No new pdf window pops up (like what it usually does). So I went to check the folder where I stored the file. This was what i saw:
it turns out the file I just saved have no Adobe pdf icon appearing next to it. Instead, its document type is merely "File". When I tried opening it with Adobe reader, I got another dialogue box as below:
The dialogue box's text is as follows:
Acrobat could not open [file name] because it is either not a supported file type or because the file has been damaged (for example, it was sent as an email attachment and wasn't correctly decoded).
To create an Adobe PDF document, go to the source application. Then print the document to Adobe PDF.
I do not know why the file is supposedly corrupted because it works well on other computers and it can be printed as well. Does anyone know how I can solve this problem? It's really urgent and I desperately need to print my PDF files for my lessons and exams (I'm a student). It was uploaded on my school's website and PDF is the only available format. This is the first time it has happened and I am getting really frustrated. And it is not only for this 1 file. Since the 16th, EVERY pdf file i've opened has encountered this problem. Which is why I need to know how to solve this. Thank you in advance.
Would appreciate it if someone can help answer this question. Admins or otherwise.
Additional info: Laptop is Toshiba Portege m900. Windows 7 OS.32-bit operating system. Singapore-based.

You are getting such output because you have checked ON the setting 'Print to file' in one of your previous prints. For resolving this issue, kindly uncheck option 'Print to file' present in bottom left corner of print dialog and then click on 'Print' (See attached image for reference).

When I print a PDF from Adobe it creates a border when I do not one

Hello, I hope someone can help.
I am creating documents in Quark and Microsoft Publisher.
These documents have a Orange block banner at the top of the page, this represents the colour of the company I work for. It sits at the top of the A4 page and I have created a large bleed around it in Quark/Publisher.
When I export the file as a PDF and open the file up in Adobe, the banner is solid at the top of the page with no white border visible in Adobe.
However when I go to print the document, it prints out with a border. So that the banner is there, BUT there is a white gap between itself and the edge of the paper (this appears to be a border)
Can anyone provide a solution to how to remove this? Is it something to do with the size of the paper, or something Adobe is doing automatically? I am using Adobe Reader 8.

You can also try opening the PDF with preview, then doing a copy and paste to TextEdit and printing from there.
Adobe makes it easier, but you do have software to accomplish this.
Only download Adobe reader from this site, to avoid "fakes/spoofs/malware" that will cause damage to your machine.

I cannot print a PDF from Adobe Acrobat Pro or Adobe Reader. I tried on both MacBook Pros we have here, both now with Mavericks. Error message says "Opening printer connection failed. Unable to open printer connection . . . " This is after it says sending data, printing, shows the percentages etc., but then at the end I get the error message above. I can print a PDF (same one) from Preview, but not from Acrobat! What's going on? Never had this issue before Mavericks . . . Please help.
