Printer preset fault after 4.0.2.1 Update

I am having an issue with sending files to my Printers after the 4.0.2.1 update. I only have a printer preset in the workflow. I have tried making a new preset after te upgrade and can see the printer and its Queue's and settings. However I am recieving an error. Standard_USLetter.joboptions This is a major issue as I need to use the special pages option to process files. Any thoughts / suggestions would be appreciated.

What is the format of the job. It seems to have failed in conversion. Please submit to the hotline. If you have a bug then a developer will need to take a look and that typically means the hotline needs to be engaged.

  • Anyone getting print colour problems after Mac 10.6.8 Update?

Since June 29, when we downloaded the latest Apple OS X update, prints on all four papers I use - and have custom profiles for - have developed a green cast out of our Epson R1900. Can't help thinking that this caused by the Epson Printer Software Update (# 2.7) that was part of that Apple update. There are reams of complaints over on the Photoshop Mac forum about this update causing printers to stop completely; but none citing colour problems.
Seems complicated - according to Apple - by the fact that the Epsom driver that Update 2.7 replaced, will not work with OS X 10.6.8. To back track one has to back track the complete OS to 6.7. Something to do with Snow Leopard being made ready for Lion.
Oh, and yes - I have recalibrated my screen since the update; and yes, have exhaustively run all the maintenance tasks on the R1900.

Seems we have sorted the problem, and I thought it might warrant us sharing that - particularly as it was less than obvious. We use four paper types and have pre-sets for each in the Print Module. Actually eight presets as the four are duplicated for two paper sizes. Each pre-set includes a custom-made ICC profile for the paper/printer (an Epson R1900).
Following the Apple Software Update to OS X 10.6.8, there appeared a noticeable blue/green cast over all newly made prints. Nothing in the Lr3 printing process appeared to change; and so the conclusion was that something had changed in the new Epson printer driver that accompanied the update. Some time and effort was expended with Apple investigating a backtrack to 10.6.7, which proved fruitless for too complicated a reason to go into here.
Left with seeking an alternative answer, we deleted the printer and reinstalled using the original disk; opting to take the offered driver update. This resulted in driver 6.20 being loaded - the same as had been causing all the grief. However, when we came to check the Print Settings dropdown - after specifying the appropriate preset - to make sure it specified 'no colour correction', it was obvious that the ICC profile had not been recognised, although the Page Settings for the preset had. Each box in the dropdown merely contained the default - plain paper, Colorsync, etc. Manually entering all the criteria in Print Settings - as should have been picked up from the preset - produced a perfect print. Perfect that is compared to one printed prior to download 10.6.8.
The odd thing about this - and the one that left us clueless - was that before deleting and re-installing the printer - the Print Settings dropdown reflected all of the criteria of the preset. Everything looked normal, except that is for the hair being pulled out by those wasting time, paper and ink after a solution.

  • My HP printer stopped scanning after the HP 2.7 Update.  How do I roll it  back?

I upgraded to Lion and my new HP Photosmart Premium (C309g) worked great until the HP Printer Software Update 2.7 came down.  Since then, whenever I try to scan anything in Preview, Image Capture, or the printer itself, the scan window sits at "Scanning document 'Document Name'" forever.  The progress bars come and go, but it never finishes.
I talked with a useless half-wit at HP and he told me to wipe my Mac and Time Machine backup and reinstall from my recovery CD's.  (Too bad my recovery discs install Tiger!)  I told him that wasn't happening, and he had me reset the printing system, which did nothing.
How do I roll back the HP 2.7 update?
Upgrading to Mac OS X 10.7.1 today didn't solve the problem.

I was hoping for a cleaner solution, but Time Machine to the rescue.
I removed everything under /Library/Printers (except PPD's) and then restored the rest from my first TM backup after installing Lion.  That and a reboot fixed all of the printing problems.
However, I tried the same trick for the /Library/Image Capture folder, but it didn't work.  It at least remembers my scan settings now, but the scan still hangs at some point in the beginning, usually on "Scanner is warming up" or the first piece of "Scanning document name."
Also, for cleanliness' sake, I removed the HP 2.7 entry from the InstalledSoftware.plist file, and told Software Update to ignore it.

  • Epson printer not working after maverick 10.9.5 update

I recently updated my 2011 Macbook Pro with the OSX 10.9.5 software. Since then I have had a lot of trouble printing on my EPSON NX430 small in one wireless printer. I have tried deleting the printer from the printer list as well as removing the EPSON software, and re-downloading the EPSON print driver package from the apple website again. When I go to add the printer, in the print list, it seems to see it, but can't automatically find the print driver (I have to manually assign it.) When added the printer appears to be on "idle" and when I try to print the job seems to be sent though (the printer returns to idle) but nothing prints! I'm at my wits end with this - it is so annoying, and I've spent way too much time trying to troubleshoot. I do NOT recommend updating to Maverick!

Try some generic maintenance (we're trying to avoid reinstalling OS X):
Restart into Safe Mode, which does some system repairs. When it's finished, restart normally.
OS X: What is Safe Boot, Safe Mode?
    Next, Reset the Printing System:
OS X Mavericks: Reset the printing system
Now, add the printer in Print & Scan prefs.
(PS - even if this doesn't fix it, it eliminates many possible glitches for troubleshooting. The things you've done just scratched the surface.)
BTW - you didn't need to download the Epson package. The new Apple driver paradigm is that the driver is automagically installed when you add the printer in Print & Scan prefs. And if that doesn't work, you have other issues with OS X.

  • Duplex printing stoped working after one of the recent updates.

    Hi,
For some reason my HP Laserjet P3015 stoped printing duplex. Some dialogs show the "beidseitig drucken" option and I can check this and get duplexing. But I configured duplexing in the HP printer settings and it is ignored. I had system settings from earlier times with the option enabled but they seem to not work any longer. So how do I set up a printer to print duplex from all applications?
Thanks for helping me saving trees!
    Best
      Stefan

It is possible to set duplex as the default setting via CUPS - the core printing system used in OS X. Using a web browser you open an internal web page, select the printer you want to modify, make your changes and then save this as the default. Then when you print, this setting will stop you from having to access the driver menus.
But there is a caveat to this setitng being used and that is based on the application being used. If the application uses or involves the default print dialog in the print job submission, then you will get a duplex print job. But there are applications that bypass the default print dialog and will therefore submit the print job without the settings you have set. The Print icon in Word for Mac 2011, part of the MS Office 2011 suite, is an example of the print dialog and thus the default settings being ignored. But if you select File > Print in Word, this will invoke the print dialog and your defaults will be honoured.
To access CUPS, open Safari and type
    http://127.0.0.1:631/printers
Note that for OS X 10.8, the CUPS page is blocked by default. To enable it, open Terminal and type "sudo cupsctl WebInterface=yes" (without the quotation marks). Enter the admin password when prompted and then refresh the browser view.
With the CUPS web page open, select the printer you want to modify. Then from the Administration drop menu, change to "Set Default Options".
This will show a new page with some menu headings (links). You may have to check each one but one of them will have the duplex (or two sided) setting. With the option selected you then need to scroll down the list to the bottom of the page where you will see the ‘Set Default Options’ button. Click this and you will then be presented with an authentication window. Enter the account name and password that has been set as the admin for this Mac. And then press the Log In button. You will then see another page stating that the information change is completed.
You can now check that the change has been successful by selecting to print this page from Safari. With the correct printer selected, change to the relevant menu to ensure you modification has worked.

  • Print preset defaults to (custom) after change in qty

Sorry. It's complicate to describe in one line (and even harder to search for an answer).
    I'm using CS4 on a desktop PC.
When I change to my special printer presets, the quantity to print default is 1. Of course.
When I change the quantity to a number other than one... the print preset returns to (custom), which is the default.
    and alternately
If I start by changing the print quantity, followed by changing the print preset, the quantity defaults back to 1.
I need to print the same document multiple times, and it's rather frustrating...
    help?

The presets are extremely customized. It took me an hour to set each one up. (there are three presets that I use on a regular basis). Yes, all the settings go back to the default and thus is not functional for my purposes.
File > Print Presets > <your preset> leads me to the exact same problem. When I change the quantity it returns to (custom)
Is there somewhere else I can look for troubleshooting information? I was at a complete loss for how to search for my strange problem...

  • Color Settings\Colorsync settings don't stick when setting printing presets

    Hello
Posting this here, instead of in the iPhoto Forum
In the "Print" dialog box (the dialog box you see after you pass through the iPhoto dialog box - same type of box as with most other OS X applications), there is a down menu to give you access to several categories of settings related to the print job.
Here of course you can save printing presets (paper type, print quality, color management, etc).
Why do ColorSync settings under the "Color Matching" dropdown not get saved with the other presets? Every time, the profile setting defaults to "Automatic". Is this a bug or is there something I am not doing correctly? Is there a good reason why they aren't saved along with other settings? Apple on-screen Help says "some settings cannot be saved in a profile, but this would seem to be a very handy thing?
I use an Epson Artisan 800.
Alternatively, can someone tell me what the behavior is of the "Automatic" setting?
I recently profiled the printer and I am just looking for an easy/quick way at the time of printing to apply one of the three profiles based on the type of paper that is being used. I just figured this would be the easiest way to do it? (my question applies to any application - I posted here because this is of particular importance with iPhoto)
BTW Is it me or is there surprisingly little information online about ColorSync workflows/behavior/relationships in OS X?
Many thanks for any and all advice.
    Justin

    Hi Scott,
Thank you for your posting in Windows Server Forum.
First of all please update the RDC version to RDP 8.1 for better functionality. Then try to install below updates for windows 7 and check the result.

  • Where are the Printing Presets in Acrobat located on Mac?

I have just upgraded to Yosemite 10.10.3 from Snow Leopard 10.6.8. All of my applications seem to be working fine, however my printing presets in Acrobat Pro X 10.1.13 are missing. Can I restore them from a Time Machine backup and if so where would they located? There seem to be a number of Library files related to Acrobat, but I'm not sure which ones contain the printing presets. I'm printing to an Epson Stylus Pro 3880. I don't want to have to re-create all the printing presets for that machine if I don't have to. I'm hoping someone can give me some advice on how to restore my much needed presets.

    Kelvin:
Did you save the presets and give them a unique name so they could be selected at a later time?
    Do you Twango?
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Cannot change Print Presets in iPhoto 08

Although I have saved multiple printing presets for other applications, in iPhoto 08 only "Standard" is available. This holds for all user accounts. Any way to correct this?
The problem is that "standard" prints on standard paper for my ink jet. Photos are therefore printed in low res.

Try the simple fix: delete the iPhoto preference file, com.apple.iPhoto.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder, launch iPhoto and try again.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: The new rebuild option in iPhoto 09 (v. 8.0.2), Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" makes this tip obsolete.

  • OS X 10.5.1 -- HP Printing presets seem to be working now

I just re-setup my printing presets (e.g., Main Tray, Multi-Purpose Tray, Main + Duplex, etc.) for our HP Color Laserjet 4600dn after installing OS X 10.5.1.
The presets seem to be permanent now --unlike the behavior in 10.5.0. This little fix will be a nice convenience to have back.
    Anyone else notice this fix?

There were a few posts about this previously - Apple included a fix for this in 10.5.1.

  • Where Are the Printing Presets?

I've got several printing presets created. I select a photo and click the print icon. In the print dialog that appears there is a Printer drop down menu and Presets drop down menu. Despite having several presets only Standard is in the drop down menu. When I click on Print the next print dialog appears and I can choose the presets from that drop down menu.
What's the use for the preset drop down menu in the main print dialog? Is this caused by the Epson driver. I'm using an R200.
    Thanks

  • Confuse with Printing Presets

Despite having created a custom Print Preset in the Advanced Print setting in the Print dialog box I only see Standard in the Preset drop down menu in the iPhoto 08 printer. It's only when I get to the actual print dialog that I can change it but if I've used my Glossy Preset previously it is still set. I'm using an Epson R200 inkjet printer with their Intel drivers.
Anyone else seeing this with Epson or other printers?
    Thanks

I'm feeling your pain with my new Epson R1800. After loading the Epson drivers and using "Printer Setup Utility" to create the new printer there are only two presets, "Photo on Matte Paper" and "Photo on Matte Paper - Fine." Well, I want to print Glossy. The matte looks substandard on the glossy media.
The Epson documentation send you to, you guessed it, the "Print Settings" but I can't get there in iPhoto '08. I'm looking for a preset to print on glossy media. I will call Epson support in the morning, but this is frustrating.
So I'm not trying to use a custom prest, but any preset other than the two listed above.

  • Printer presets not working in OSX Mavericks

    Hi Apple community,
since upgrading to OSX Mavericks, the system printing dialog doesn't change the pre-set printing presets after selecting one of them. I made a screencast to show what I mean.
This is what I already treid:
    - Deleting printer
    - Re-installation of printer
    - Deleting all presets
    - New setup of all presets
How can I fix this issue???
    Thanks!

Back up all data before proceeding.
Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    ~/Library/Preferences/com.apple.print.custompresets.plist
Right-click or control-click the line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Desktop, leaving the window open. If there are any other files in the same folder with a name beginning in "com.apple.print.custompresets", move those too.
Log out or restart the computer. Create a custom preset and test. If there's no change, quit again and put each item you moved back where it was, overwriting the one that may have been created in its place. Otherwise, delete the items you moved.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.

  • Lightroom printer preset problem

Hi - just upgraded to the latest Lightroom CC - the settings in my print presets are not translating into my printer settings - I just get the default printer setup, which results in the layout of the cells getting messed up.  Using Windows 8.1.  Also I now have to start the Print Spooler service manually - suggestions please?

Do you mean it's supposed to go to CS6, but opens CS3 instead?
That could happen if you have uninstalled an intermediate version after installing CS6. Yes, it's a long time bug in the installer. I believe reinstalling CS6 over itself will correct it.
EDIT: either that, or what web-weaver said.
