Printer prints too cyan

I have been using an Epson R300 for over a year with consistently good results until just a few days ago when the printer for no obvious reason began printing everything too cyan. I emailed Epson support which told me to clean the heads, and check the USB connection. I'd just recently done the head cleaning, but did it again, this time with the printer not attatched to the computer, and I tried the USB cable in both another hub socket and directly to the back of the computer. Nothing changed. Epson said if the heads were cleaned and the cable OK, it was a problem with my software or computer. I've recalibrated the monitor till I'm cross-eyed. No change.
In fact, the only change I've made to the computer recently was to install Apple's latest software update. I've searched the forum for someone with a similar problem, but could find nothing. Could the Apple upgrade be my problem, and, if so what can I do about it?
I'll be grateful for any suggestions.

Hi, Beth.
Is there a color profile assigned to the printer?
1. Launch ColorSync Utility, which resides in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
2. Select Devices.
3. Click the disclosure triangle next to Printers.
4. Select the printer. If there is a color profile assigned to the printer, be sure it is the one you want.
Good luck!

  • CS5 prints too light using new Mac, perfect from older Mac?

Images edited w. Photoshop CS5 (v. 12.03) on a Mac running OS 10.6.8 print perfectly on my Epson Stylus Pro 3880. But the same files printed from a newer Mac running OS 10.7.4 and Photoshop CS5 (v12.1) print too light. Exact same printer settings in PS being used, same printer driver version (reinstalled to make sure not a bad driver), using the same .icc paper profile (also reinstalled), and using same batch of paper printed at same time.
Where do I start in determining the problem? Epson confirms driver is compatible. Everything else on the new system with PS works great. Gallery show in three weeks, must figure this out quick. Thanks.

Ps update is 12.0.4 and 12.1, but you are probably missing something, by posting screenshots someone may be able to spot the problem
are you sure which one is actually wrong
do they display identical in both OSes
are both versions of Ps using the same embedded profile, did you confirm that

Ok, look at your files in Photoshop. What is the profile assigned to them? You can find this out by going to the Status bar at the bottom, clicking on the right-pointing triangle and choosing document Profile from the list.
Then in Windows, go to your Control Panel > Color Management and add sRGB (if it isn't there) and select it as your default profile.
    I hope that will work.

I'm using A.Reader v.9.3.4 in  XP.3 and Officejet J4540 series; I do think you are on to something with  print preview composite showing  Zoom 94% & page set to 8.27 x  11.69" but where to change to 8.5 x 11 inches since the zoom @ 94% does  not jibe with over 11 lgth X less than 8.5 inches which would seem  logical if the 94% issue were the trouble...please expound ~ Jaye ~

I'm not on Windows now, but the Windows dialog box is similar to the Mac Print dialog box.
You can see under Comments there is a Page scaling dialog box. Click on the drop down menu and switch from None to Shrink to Printable Area.

    Hi Isk8ter,
    Welcome to the Support Communities!
What version of Pages are you working with?  I'm assuming '09 since you reference OS X 10.7.4 above.
I've included the link to the Pages User Manual for you below.
Page 253 starts the chapter on Printing, Shareing and Exporting your document.

Setting the Paper Size and Orientation
Before you print, you should make sure the paper size and orientation are set the way you want by opening the Page Setup dialog.
To set paper size and orientation:
1 Choose File > Page Setup.
2 In the Page Setup dialog, choose the printer you will use from the “Format for” popup
    menu.
3 Choose a standard paper size from the Paper Size pop-up menu.
Also, see page 266 of the Pages User Manual for more specific instructions for creating a custom template for envelopes.
    Hope this helps ...

  • Epson prints too dark from LR on color managed MacBook Pro?

    Hi all,
I have a newish MacBook Pro, calibrated with Spyder2, and printing to an Epson 2200. The prints are too dark, and don't really come close to matching the screen in LR. I've brought the images into PS2 for soft proofing, but the prints are still far too dark. It's not just out of LR, but DPP as well. I found this topic:
    http://www.adobeforums.com/cgi-bin/webx/.3bc44027/28
Tthat seems to describe my problem, but it seems to be Adobe-specific. Doug doesn't say if he's tried printing from other apps. I use Epson's custom profiles, which actually seem to be worse than the standard profiles that come with the driver.
A new twist seems to be that profiled jpg images with sRGB profiles exported from LR also print too dark when I had them sent out for printing, which leads me to think that my screen is not profiled correctly, or there's some weird flaw in the Mac's color management engine that skews everything.
My first question: When I profile my screen using Spyder2, I have the brightness set at maximum. Should I bring it down, and if so, how far? The Spyder2 help says use "Factory Defaults", but the MBP ships with brightness set on auto-adjust based on ambient light levels.
My second question: Are there others who have this issue? Have any of you resolved them successfully, and if so, how?
    Thanks!
    Timmy

Time for a reality/sanity check for those who complain that "the "prints are too dark from my Epson printer"!
If you will just reduce your monitor's white-point luminance to the range of 80-90 cd/m2 when you edit your images, it's almost certain that the problem will be solved (assuming you're not making some other error in color management setup). Many people conclude that their problem must be a generic failure or defect of Epson printers (i.e., compared to HP, etc)-- or that the Epson paper profiles are defective. Well, perhaps there's some element of truth to that conclusion--to the extent that Epson printers have evidently been designed with typical professional editing environments in mind (i.e., the low brightness levels to which "serious" printers adjust their monitors and ambient lighting). Why would they do that: Well, who wants to spend many hours each day looking at the glare of a 200 cd/m2 monitor screen (and the reflections from a brighly lighted room)?
So, for getting "monitor-matching" prints from printers such as the SP 2200, you simply need to work (edit) with your images in a more-or-less "dimly lit" room using a monitor that is properly adjusted for such a low-light environment--(i.e., the screen luminance not higher than 90-100 cd/m2). Of course even with such a reduced screen luminance, the light used for print-viewing must be sufficiently bright(**)
It's possible that your monitor cannot be adjusted to the necessary (low) luminance level--or that you haven't any means to measure the luminance level. Those are correctable hardware issues, although may require $$.
(**)please note that a fairly bright viewing light is needed for prints (made as suggested above) to appear to be a reasonably close "match" to the monitor image.

  • Print too small, tried everything (I think..)

    Hi
I recently installed the driver for this printer from the HP site and replaced some empty ink cartridges. So, printer now prints.
Trouble is, whatever I do in Preferences, or in Word, Acrobat, anything, the page prints too small and centred. The setting in preferences is A4
When I ask the printer to print the TEST pages, i.e the 'Self Test Diagnostic Page' and 'Print Quality Diagnositcs Page' they are both perfect and the correct size.
I am using an older version of Mac OS (10.4.....) but not had trouble before.
Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Many thanks.

    Hi @migrations
If I am not mistaken, you need to increase the font size within the program you are printing from. Be sure not to increase the zoom, the font size needs to be larger for the print size to be increased.
You may also see a scale to option, or fit to page, in the print preview, this might help too.

  • Printing Too Light

I have been creating Pdf files from both AutoCAD and Microstation.  The files look perfect on the screen but when I print them to our plotter Xerox Wide Format Print System 8825 the image prints too light.  Files consist of black and grey scaled objects.  Is there any way to print 'wysiwyg' from adobe
So far the only way to imporove the prinitng has been to use the print as image option.  But this decreases the quality.
    Thank you

  • Print too large Deskjet 3510

Lately whenever I print anything it is printing too large - margins are off page. I have done the align printer and cannot find anything in settings of the printer to set this to where it prints the correct size - it is not set to landscape and is set to portrait so I do not understand why it is printing like landscape. Does anyone know how to fix this problem.

Welcome to the HP Community Forum. Most of the time, the size of the font -- the margins, the scale -- and the "whole general page" that you are printing is handled in the application you are using at the time you are setting up the print job. In most browsers (Firefox, Chrome, Internet Explorer), document editors (Word, Libre), and PDF Readers (Adobe Reader and Foxit), this "setup" is handled a program or subroutine called Print Preview. You (that is, the print job) can get into trouble when the Page Scale does not match the paper -- perhaps the margins are not (and should be) set "Fit to Page". The font sizes can be too tiny -- or too large -- for similar reasons, although it can become somewhat more complicated than that. It is also true that some documents and Web Pages are better printed in Landscape mode than in Portrait -- and it is not always clear by glancing at the Page which is best. You might take a look at the following and see if the explanations and examples can help you sort what is going on in your situation: Manage Print Output with Print Preview When you see a Post that helps you,Inspires you, provides fresh insight,Or teaches you something new,Click the "Thumbs Up" on that Post. Click my Answer Accept as Solution to help others find Answers.

  • J6480 part of page prints too light

A friend of mine has an hp office jet all in one printer model j6480 that is giving her problems. When she prints a page, the top half looks good, but the bottom prints too light. When she prints another page right after that, the same problem occurs.  She will bring it over for me to look at on Tuesday. In the meantime, I was hoping to get an idea of what might be causing it or how to diagnose the problem.
    Thanks

  • OS X printing too large

I have a MBP with 10.6 that is printing images to large. By printing too large, I mean that the image of the page is being blown up too big - text is way too large and elements of the page are being cut off. This happens especially with web pages. None of my other computers (Mac and PC) have this problem. Any ideas?
