Printer prints too slowly

My (relatively) new HP CP2025dn prints very slowly, less than 4 pages per minute. So far as I can tell, the driver is resending each page over the network, and the printer is regenerating the image each time.
This happens even when I want to print multiple copies of the same page, uncollated. It happens from two differebt Windows 7 (64-bit) PCs and from an OpenSuse Linux version 11.4.
The Windows driver itself cannot count. If I want to print 10 copies of each of several pages, I will get varying numbers of copies if the different pages. Sometimes the Windows driver shows that there was an error transmitting one or several of the copies.
It was not always like this. When we first purchased it early in 2012, it could do 30 pages per minute for as long as the paper lasted.
Is there some kind of setting that makes this difference? Is there a difference between PCL and Postscript? If so, how can I control it?
Thanks,
OSProf

  • HP 8610 printing too slowly

Just installed a new HP8610. Wired setup (not wireless). It's plugged into the outlet (not a power bar) plus USB to back of PC (which is Windows 7 Home Premium). Prints ok from notepad but is painfully slow and halting printing from the PC.
Also cannot get the printer to stay set up print in black ONLY.
Is it supposed to print in a jerking (fax-like) manner or smoothly?
Used to have same setup to HP Laserjet 1006 and had no problem with speed and printing was smooth, not jerk-like printing that we are experiencing with the HP 8620.
Thanks for any help you can provide.

    Hi @waterwise
I appreciate the troubleshooting you have done thus far. I understand the printer is printing slowly and is not printing in a smooth manner.
    i would like you to check to see of you have the newest firmware version. At first and in your title you mention the 8610, but near the end of your post you say 8620, just in case, I will include a link for each of them;
HP Officejet Pro 8620/8625 Firmware Update
HP Officejet Pro 8610/8615 Firmware Update
    Fix/Enhancement
Security changes for SNMP and WJA
Improve control panel work-flow and messaging
Enhance NFC tag spec 1.1 support
    Protection against OpenSSL Heartbleed bug
Although the issue you have described is not listed in the fix/ enhancements, this firmware update could resolve the issue.
    If the issue persists, please perform an alignment as it could help;
Load plain white paper into the tray.
On the printer control panel, swipe the display to scroll to Setup, and then touch the Setup icon (). The Setup menu displays.
Swipe the display to scroll to Tools, and then touch Tools.
    Touch Align Printhead.
After the printer prints the alignment page, touch OK, and then recycle or discard the alignment page.

  • When I print a Word document to a shared printer, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.

When I print a Word for Mac document to a shared printer (that is connected to my iMac) from my Macbook Pro, print preview looks fine but the printed page has too much blank space at the top and doesn't print the bottom few lines.  I have tried to adjust the margins and the page setup settings but to no avail.  It used to print fine until recently.  Is there a way to fix it so that the printer prints what print preview shows?

I should add that when I e-mail this document to myself and print it directky from the iMac, it prints fine.

  • HP P1006 printer prints WAY too light.

My HP P1006 printer prints WAY too light.  I installed Win 7  (32-bit), then reinstalled the driver, but there has been no improvement. Changing the print density does nothing!

    Hi Jamesmuir,
You read my mind with your last statement regarding print density; that was my first thought.
Try following the steps in this document - Redistributing the Toner (This document displays the M1212, but the process is the same).
Also, try printing a Supplies Status Page (This Document has Instructions for Windows) - see what your page count is for that toner cartridge. The page yield for the standard cartridge (HP 35A/CB435A) is 1500 pages as per HP Shopping.
Let me know if the redistribution of the toner works or not, and also please post your page count from the supplies status page.

  • Prints are too dark even though screen image looks fine

I have an iMac and an HP Photosmart D7360 printer. Lately, every photo I print is too dark. With older versions of iPhoto I was able to adjust the print settings (saturation, brightness, etc) from the print window and save those as a preset so my prints would match what I'm seeing on the monitor. Those settings seem to have disappeared in iPhoto '09 and I can't find a way to do that anymore. I don't understand Color Matching and some of the other settings I see, but I would like to learn how to get my photos to print the same as they look after I adjust them in iPhoto. It's mainly the darkness that's way off.
    Thanks.

I also ran Disk Utility to repair permissions. The first time through there were maybe 100 repairs made to the AirPort Utility.app. I don't even use AirPort, so I don't understand that.
I've re-run it two more times and both times kept getting this message:

  • Prints are too dark with CS4

    Hi
I appreciate that this topic has been covered before but I cannot seem to find a resolution.
My prints are too dark when I print from CS4 with my Epson Stylus Photo 2100 printer(2200 in the USA).
I am using Windows Vista 32bit service pack 2.
My monitor has been calibrated correctly (brightness lever is 117cd/m2)
I am using genuine Epson Inks and paper (Epson premium semi gloss photo paper)
I have the latest drivers installed.
My workflow is Adobe RGB (1998)
I have turned off color management in the printer and selected the correct paper type etc.
In Photoshop I have selected Photoshop to color manage my prints and selected the correct
    Epson profile for my paper/ink.
Black point compensation is on, and the rendering intent is relative colorimetric.
I am sure that somehow my prints are being double profiled but I do
not know how to prevent it.
Has any one found a working solution to this problem/
    Any help greatly appreciated.

  • Printer prints too cyan

I have been using an Epson R300 for over a year with consistently good results until just a few days ago when the printer for no obvious reason began printing everything too cyan. I emailed Epson support which told me to clean the heads, and check the USB connection. I'd just recently done the head cleaning, but did it again, this time with the printer not attatched to the computer, and I tried the USB cable in both another hub socket and directly to the back of the computer. Nothing changed. Epson said if the heads were cleaned and the cable OK, it was a problem with my software or computer. I've recalibrated the monitor till I'm cross-eyed. No change.
In fact, the only change I've made to the computer recently was to install Apple's latest software update. I've searched the forum for someone with a similar problem, but could find nothing. Could the Apple upgrade be my problem, and, if so what can I do about it?
I'll be grateful for any suggestions.

    Hi, Beth.
Is there a color profile assigned to the printer?
    1. Launch ColorSync Utility, which resides in the Macintosh HD > Applications > Utilities folder.
    2. Select Devices.
    3. Click the disclosure triangle next to Printers.
    4. Select the printer. If there is a color profile assigned to the printer, be sure it is the one you want.
    Good luck!

  • The print is too small on various web sites that I open. How can I correct this?

The print is too small on various web sites that I open. This has never happened on older Firefox versions. How can I correct this so every page I open, the print size is consistent and legible? I don't want to change it every time I open a new site.

    Hi Donna,
Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
Font Size and the scale (size) at which a document is printed is controlled within the application just before the job is sent to the printer -  this means the size is set from your browser (Firefox, Internet Explorer) or perhaps your Editor (Word).  Generally speaking, most applications use Print Preview -- or a variation of that program under a different name.
An explanation and the use of Print Preview is avialble in the following document:

    Hi there,
I understand you're having an issue with the font being too small when printing. I will certainly do my best to help you with this!
I just have a few questions so I can help you better.
Which model of printer are you working with?
What operating system is on your computer? (Windows or Mac?)
Are you referring to the print on the pages that come out of the printer? Or the text on the screen of the printer is too small?
If it's from the computer, what program are you trying to print from? (Such as Internet Explorer, Microsoft Word, etc.)

  • Photo print at too low of a quality

    Hi
I am trying to make a book, and have all my pictures set, but since they are from the computer and not my personal pictures, they each have that yellow warning that says photo may print at too low of a quality. I am wondering if Mac can change it, since I don't want to spend the money to have the book printed with blurry pictures. They are all zoomed out the most they can be, and I tried everything else.. PLEASE HELLLLP! email me at [email protected]
    Thanks

    sgatling:
Welcome to the Apple Discussions. What are the pixel dimensions of the photos you're using? Which theme are you using and which frames do you get the warning sign, i.e. full page layout, 2 photos per page, etc.
iPhoto will give that warning when the dpi of a picture in a particular frame is below 180 dpi. So for a full page photo you'd need pixel dimensions of about 1600 x 2070 or greater to avoid the warning flag.
Unless the photo is way below that minimum size I don't think it will be significant enough to be objectionable. But that's just based on my experience. No matter what size you use the photo will not be as sharp as you can get by printing them yourself on glossy photo paper at equivalent sizes.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Photo prints are too dark

I am on an iMac OS X 10.9.4 and have all the updates.   I am printing to an Epson XP-850 with all the latest firmware and driver updates installed.   I can print files from other applications no problem.    In Lightroom 4.4 and Photoshop CS 5.1, my photos recently started printing way too dark.   I use Color Munki Photo to calibrate both the monitor, and also the printer to create a custom profile.   I've done this successfully up until just recently.   (I hate to blame the latest Apple update but...)  In preview, the pictures print pretty well, and if I allow the printer to manage color in LR (which I do not like to do because Epson does not seem to have a profile for my printer and paper) it prints decently, but not great.   But still better than if I try to use an installed profile that was working not too long ago.
I have not downloaded new software or anything that should affect compatibility.    If anyone has a great idea, I'd appreciate it.    Thank you!

  • Printing takes too much space!

    Hi,
I need to print a JTable's contents. This JTable has about 10 columns and about 500 rows. I print the column header in each page, and as many rows fits in a page until it is done. I separate each row with a line.
Now, this takes about 10 MB in the Windows spooler, which also make the printing slow too.
How can I do to reduce the quantity of memory it takes to print?
    Thanks in advance,
    Gabriel

In general, in JDK 1.2 printer engine not compare to speed even with JDK 1.1 - all fonts are conwerted into shapes (maybe this is not true for jdk1.3+ for some set of fonts - but by sources of JDK1.2 this is it) this aproach caused even moderate amount of text, produce huge amount of shapes. So, if performance is the key for you application - try to play with rasterisation options or take look at non standart printing engines and on JDK 1.4 it is still beta but printing systeme take serious step ahead.
If you dont statisfy java printing at all - try to extend com.sun.awt.windows.WPrinterJob - this is not violate any Sun's right but strongly not recomended.

    Hi Jeremy...
There's a work around that may help you. The Mac OS X has "accessibity" features installed that can assist in viewing text.
Open System Preferences then select Universal Access then select the Seeing tab.
    Zoom settings are available there.
More about Mac OS X accessiliity here >  Apple - Accessibility - OS X - Vision
You can provide feedback to Apple here >  Apple - Mac OS X - Feedback
If you are not aware, when viewing Safari webpages, you can press Command + (plus)  or Command - (minus) to adjust the size of the page.
For zooming text only, click View from the Safari menu bar then from the drop down menu click Zoom Text Only.
