Printer prints when it feels like it
I have a Photosmart C7280 all in one which I bought maybe close to two years ago.
Running XP on a two PC home network through a Linksys cable/dsl router.
For the most part, happy with it.
Problem is, when I click the print button I can never be sure if my document will print or not - and it usually doesn't at critical times.
Have reinstalled software and looked for updated drivers (which there are none). What now?

When the printer does not print are there any error messages on either the printer or the PC? What is the status in the spooler? Can you access the printer's built-in web server?

E7 deleting all my emails when it feels like it he...
Hi everyone, im not a techie chap so any easy to understand help would be grateful.
Last 5 weeks or so since the last update my E7 emails have been deleting themselves when they feel like it but only on my pop3 mail??? My live mail has been fine.
I have deleted both mail accounts and re set them not accepting the terms page. Also tried a reset on the phone but nothing is helping. Any ideas please.

Go to Solution.Do you currently download your pop3 from another program like outlook maybe. It just has to do with the settings of the program. If the progam is not configured to leave mail on the server then after downloading, the messages will be gone. When you then synchronise with your e7 there are no messaages so all are removed from the phone. I had the same prob. The setting has to be configured from your mail client or service provider. Live mail is left on the server until you delete it. Try deleting a recent message online in you live mail account then sync with your handset. That message should also be gone from the hanset after the sync.

It only works when you have the laptop and the G5 right next to each other. Which is od no use!
See other details for my set up. It does NOT share at all and the apple supt and store didn't have a clue! I able to print just fine anywhere in the house or even outside from my network and others people networks,
I have the 2Wire with the wireless enable and disabled it doesn't work either way. The only reason I got the airport and assoc card was to be able to use back to my mac when I am only thr road.
ANYONE ELSE ABLE TO GET IT O WORK.

Pdf's Open When They Feel Like It
I'm working with a website (someone else created) that has a
page that opens pdf's from a link into a blank window (target). The
links always work in Netscape and Firefox, but only sometimes with
ie. For example, it always works from the free X-Drive server
account I have. It also works from my work computer in a couple of
places on the hard drive, but not from my desktop. It doesn't work
at ALL on my home computer.
I know the easiest solution is to say not to use ie or to
change security settings, etc., but this site will be burnt to CD
and distributed to non-technical people and will be autorun. So, it
has to be configured in a way to work from the beginning. So far,
ANY external media I put it on - flash drive/CD/virtual drives it
won't work on.
The links are document relative (i.e.
../pdffolder/example.pdf) but when I rollover the links, the
browser pane display (sorry, not sure what it's called) says
"file:///C:/pdffolder/example.pdf. So, it looks like somehow it's
rewriting the code to be absolute? There are pretty complex style
sheets used in this site, but I haven't found anything that looks
like it refers to how the links "work."
I have no idea what's going on. I've been working on this for
about 15 hours now (during work days) and canNOT figure it out.
There seems to be no pattern.
Does anyone have ANY idea what's going on?

Screen saver can't be disabled; starts when it feels like it
I have a weird problem with my screen saver. I had to shut down my Mac mini (G4, 1.42GHz) manually via the power button a few days ago, and ever since then, the system refuses to obey the "Start screen saver:" time delay preference in System Preferences. I'd always had it set to "Never", but now it always starts after the standard time interval. I've since discovered that even if I set it to 3 minutes, it still waits a half hour or so to start (I'm assuming it's the default delay).
I've checked for corrupt preferences in my home and main Library directories files using plutil, but they're all good; I booted with the restore disc to repair any startup disk HDD errors in Disk Utility (there were some errors, in what files and of what vintage I know not, but I was able to fully repair the disk and now no problems are reported); I've even trashed and re-set my screen saver .plist file (~/Library/Preferences/ByHost/com.apple.screensaver.SOMEHASH.plist) a few times. From the looks of things, the Screen Saver preferences pane is recording the correct idle time and screen saver in the .plist file, it's just not honoring the idle time. It does, however, allow me to change the screen saver itself. I don't have any screen savers installed that didn't come with the system -- I've been alternating between the iTunes and RSS ones since I can't choose 'None'.
Any ideas on how to fix this? I can't emphasize enough how much I hate screen savers (no offense to the programmers, they're just not my thing!). It's especially frustrating that I have to leave the computer sit for a half hour just to test any possible solution...So after some time it stopped doing it. Then it started again. I still don't know what the issue is, but I do know what causes it.
When I plug in an external monitor to the DVI port, the sreensaver disregards any mouse movements on the the extended display, and goes into screensaver mode. If I disconnect the monitor the computer continues to act as it does when the monitor is plugged in. What I've done to remedy this is use the laptop in clamshell mode, disable the screensaver, then disconnect the monitor.
This seems to remedy the problem. Hope this helps anybody else with similar issues.
PS External is Samsung 930b 19" (for what its worth)

In some folders I get duplicates (or even multiple) copies of the same photograph. How do I stop this happening or when it does how do I delete the extra copies I don't want. Plus from time to time the photos in one folder will appear in another? Do they do this when I'm asleep? Help please

'Numbers' Crashes when it feels like.
I've been using Numbers '08 for sum time now to keep records for my business. These past two weeks the spreadsheets crash with no warning. I cannot even QUIT the program and have to FORCE QUIT. IF I reopen numbers there is nothing. I know the program is running because the mouse let's me read whatever is hovering over the program but again there is no spreadsheet showing. I have to shut-down and restart in order to open Numbers. I now have to SAVE every time I enter data because I do not know when it will crash again. I do not or have not noticed this problem with other applications. I installed Leopard three weeks ago and never had this problem with Numbers until Leopard was installed. Also, I re-installed 'iWorks' but that did not help with crashes. Anyone have any suggestions as to WHY or HOW to fix this problem? Thanks

(517)819-8059Log in to the Developer forum. You will find instructions on how to install the lastest beta. Your problem is the beta you have installed has expired. All of them did on October 5; you will find hundreds of threads discussing this. If you have a beta it is assumed that you will continue as a beta tester, so a simple update using iTunes will not work.
If you no longer want to be a beta tester install the GM 7.0.2 by restoring from iTunes using DFU mode. -

Have you restored as a new device and tried your phone before you add any apps back? If you do this and you're still having problems, then you are having a hardware malfunction and will need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation and possible replacement.

On Demand? More like "when it feels like it"
Is anybody else having to continually reset their BT vision box and home hub to watch anything on demand. Normally the programme starts then starts to freeze. Finally error message V05 appears and the only solution is to reseboth vision box and home hub. Every now and again is understandable but not everyday. The Internet help for V05 is pretty much useless

My BT vision setup was an absolute nightmate, to the point I emailed Ian Livingston ( BT chairman) direct. He did respond and within a few days everything was up and running fine. Ive been with BT vision for about 18 months now and The problem has happened before but only intermittently. Now I need to reset my box pretty much every tin time I want to use on demand. Normally I turn the box and home hub off for a couple of mins max. I always let the home hub get 3 blues before powering up the BT vision box. This pretty much counts out any forms of interference from phone extensions etc. last time I tested my broadband speed it was 13mb. Ouch. You have had problems. Your setup sounds about as good as it can get. Perhaps your broadband has an intermittent fault which could cause the V05? You could post your detailed ADSL stats from your hub and someone might be able to spot if something looks amiss there.
Otherwise, surely the fault must lie with your Vison+ box. Do you have a silver or a black BT Vision box? If silver then it would certainly be worth phoning them up and convincing them that your box is faulty. -
Preview will not print 8.5" x 14", only when the computer feels like it
This problem has gone on for too long and I don't know what else to do. I have flyers that I cannot print because preview refuses to recognize the document size correctly and consistantly, and I have no other program that can print to our copier.
This happens with any PDF that is not 8.5" x 11". Both 8.5" x 14" and 11" x 17" exhibit the same problem. First I open a PDF in Preview, then I change the document size in Page Setup to "US Legal" and scale of 100% (the scale is always wrong because it is automatically resizing the document to fit on 8.5" x 11"). Then I go to print, check under Paper Handling and under Destination Paper Size is says "Use documents paper size: US Letter". This does not change no matter how many times I visit Page Setup and no matter how many times I save and re-save the file.
At random it will recognize the document size as "US Legal", but this happens only when the computer feels like it, at least that's what it seems like because there are no other settings that are different between one file and another that would cause it to print one as Letter and the next one as Legal.
Some PDFs are created in Photoshop, while other are created in Acrobat. I cannot print directly from Acrobat because of some weird problem with our copier; I cannot print from any Adobe CS3 software.
I don't know what to do. Any help is greatly appreciated.com.apple.print.custompapers.plist didn't exist on my machine, but com.apple.Preview.plist did. I moved it to the desktop as you suggested, opened the files in Preview and this time it worked. Thanks so much!

Sorry. That should have been a heading and not the whole question. I am trying to figure out the question of iPad printing. If there was such a thing as a great little portable iPad printer maybe I would give my daughter one some day. But the printer I am using is working for me because I installed it as a network printer on my wired network. It does have WiFi capabilities but it does not have the 'Air' thing. It's an HP Officejet 4500 etc etc...My question is: will printing anything from her iPad always be as easy as she attaching a document to an email and mailing to herself on Yahoo which she can retrieve on any of 3 PCs in this house? I hope so - my computer budget is blown...

Do you get these lines only when printing with ePrint? If not, it sounds like a printhead issue. Here are the steps to fix the issue.
1. Go to the setup menu on the printers front screen.
2. Go to tools.
3. Go to clean printhead
You may need to do this a few times to completely remove the lines in the print.
