Printer prob.

It's a HP C4250 printer: Prob is error message......"print cartridge missing or not detected" so far, we unplugged & reconnected printer, cleaned cartridges as specifide in instructions, removed & reincerted cartridges......the cartridges are; the 75 HP Tri-color Ink with the CN031W & ; the other is the 74 HP Black Ink Cartridge, Number CN030W.............are these the correct cartridges????? If so, why won't they work?

Are these new cartridges that you recently purchased? Try following this doc.

Appleworks 6.4 printing probs

Sorry this is long, but the following probs have arisen at home & at work since updating to 10.4.4 & a/wx 6.4:
Many of my previous template documents now only print in a sort of dark grey, although they are black on-screen, and those created since updating print fine.
Printing in general:
1 Printing collated [ie pages in reverse order] is the only outcome, whether it's selected or not.
2 First printing after opening Appleworx is fine, but subsequently one can only print 1 copy at a time, and only 'all pages' - the radio buttons and number boxes do not respond.
We use canon printers, but so does the 'puter with 10.3 and a/wx 6.2.2, with no probs. There isn't a driver update, and I've tried reinstalling printer & a/wx

since updating to 10.4.4 &
a/wx 6.4:
In addition to Barbara's (and Peggy's) suggestions, have you Fixed Permissions since the update? Use the Disk utility application (in Utilities in your Applications folder) the fix permissions after any software installation or update.

BTW, "collate" isn't "reverse order", it's 'print each set of pages as a separate set' as opposed to 'print all copies of page 1, then all copies of page 2...'

Epson Driver/Printer Probs!

I have a mac mini. I'm using the Epson Stylus Color Printer 740i that I've had for ages (bought and used with my iBook in early 2000).
When I want to print, I have to disconnect (USB) my mini, turn on my iBook, print something, and then reconnect to my mini. Seems like I'm pushing something through (as if the line is clogged and it doesn't/can't print my request) like opening a door or something on the printer with the iBook and once open, I can print with the mini by just re-connecting the USB.
Hummm???
I've written Epson/Apple but they kicked the ball back to Apple/Epson about finding my driver on the install disc/the Espon site, which didn't help.
I'm starting to think that the prob is with the Epson (a great sturdy printer but maybe out of date).

I'm a bit confused. It looks like that there's a dedicated TX100 driver. Is the 2500 driver for this printer also?

If this doesn't work, definitely let me know. I have something that we can try, but I want to exhaust the easier stuff first.

I was having trouble with printing with my Epson printer when coreutils 7.1 got into the repos. Before that it worked perfectly ever since I had it. It turned out that a simple rebuild of libcups fixed the problem. I grabbed the PKGBUILD from ABS and rebuilt with no changes to the PKGBUILD. After installation printing worked again. I don't remember if I had to restart the CUPS daemon again, but that's a simple step anyway.

Appleworks print prob

I've had a problem printing images from appleworks with my new HP printer. There are pale or dark stripes running through images. HP did worked through a series of tests with me, and concluded that it was a mechanical prob with the printer. They sent me a new printer, but the problem persists. It must be Appleworks. Does anyone know of this happening before, and of any solutions? The stripes are always in the same place on individual images, even if I place several separate images around the page.
Any help much appreciated!

HP printers are notorious around here for not "playing nice" with AppleWorks (& they don't do very well with Pages, either). The usual suggestions are to make sure you have the most recent printer driver from HP's web site & to delete the AppleWorks preferences. See my user tip, AppleWorks has stopped working correctly, for more on the preferences.

Cheque printing prob

Hi Friends,
    in F110 tcode i gave print for cheaque but it displays the message "Print job F110-20090623-SW1-1 has been scheduled" .
   in sm37 it displays but there is no spool.?
   in which Tcode we run the Existing spool number?
   is there any other transaction code to print the cheque?

Hi,
First check whether u receive the mssg 'Posting orders: 1 generated, 1 completed' in F110 Status tab, if u get that then only u can print & view in spool.
if u receive that mssg, then check the Job Log in SM37 and if u see this mssg 'Document 5160 2009 0220000000 already exists in the check file', it means the cheque has already printed...u need to reprint it again...for that check with ur functional contact...he may help you to resolve this...

Cannot create tints in Illustrator CS + printing prob's

I just downloaded the most recent updates yesterday and now my tint sliders have disappeared. I also cannot print correctly from a native file, I have to save as a pdf and print from Acrobat. I am using a bloody Windows machine so that could be the problem ... Windows 7 Pro, 64bit w/ 8GB RAM on HP Z220 CMT Workstation. Help?

You may try the list (it is actually possible to have the preferences corrupt already at installation).
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Printing probs in mountain lion.

I've a 27" iMac 2.7 GHz Intel Core i5, 8GB RAM memory, under OS X version 10.8.2. But since i installed the new OS the headaches is a continuum feeling.
I use my computer for work, mainly computer simulations using fortran. In the new version it's impossible to run my old codes because there is a change in the system files. The virtual box doesn't work. The scanning support I got the past week. So, a cumbersome problem that discourages me to look for and install new MAC OS updates. On my best guesses the people from Mac don't think about final users need. In the continuity of their work.
The most annoying situation is the problems during the printing procces. Some time the computer-printer conection work and some time don't. I have an old and perfectly functioning HP LajerJet 5MP, unless I'm in OS X 10.8.2.
I followed all indications and comments that are in the forums. But nothing works.
Some comments, links or something that could help having a smooth printing.

Printing prob in logo

Hi all,
I am using company logo in my smartforms!! its in .BMP format....,now the thing is that the image is 10 cm in length and 3 cm in width...some part contains image some containg text while some part is blank...If i put it in smartforms as logo.it gets printed,but the blank part comes in dark patches on the printout.....wht should i do so tht i get the transparent image ?

From the True Color graphics only 24 bit True Colors graphics are
supported by SAP.
So check if your image is a true color bitmap with 16,7 millions (24
BitsPerPixel) colors. The SAP has to convert it to a bitmap with 256
colors during the upload. Here the colors can slightly change.
Please decrease the color depth of the image and upload in your system
again.
Maybe the result will be much better after this.

Printing probs with 10.1.3 (not 10.1.2)

I already have the update to 10.1.3 but am still unable to print (stops before I get a print window), sometimes even unable to open - just get a Windows message telling me there is an error and Adobe Reader will shut down.
Have run Repair and nothing changed in Adobe Reader (but the computer didn't want to shut down immediately thereafter).
Any help please? (am frantic as my exam notes are in pdf format - as are the backups - and exam in 2 days). Ta

Here's a story of how I got this working... kind of a mystery still, but that's what we have to deal with all the time, isn't it?
I had the same problem, installing 10.1.2 caused a blank screen, or a stuck progress bar, when loading PDFs in IE9. The PDFs in question are dynamically generated with IText, embedded in html via a <object> tag, and served up via Jboss (Tomcat) 5.1.0. There were no issues in Firefox. We also had several users report similar issues with IE8.
What seemed to fix it (at least on my local environment) for me was to, add a Content-Length header with the file size, remove the compressableMimeType="application/pdf" in the server configuration.
However, on a different environment, it still wasn't working (grey screen, stuck progress bar in IE), so I set a debug point. The download method was being called 3 times - I had several Cache-Control headers set in an attempt to prevent caching. Removing these headers seemed to help, now the download method is being called only once, or sometimes twice. I found a MS article I found that seemed relevant: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/293792
Possibly the multiple-request, user-agent='contype' thing with IE is really screwing up the new version of the plug-in. I read the MS article, added a check for user-agent='contype' and returning only the Content-Type header instead of the whole document -- seemed to improve things.
However several PDF form elements were still screwed up - missing submit button, combo box fields with missing options.
Latest update: This combo of configurations seems to be working on both firefox and IE9 with reader 10.1.12:
1. removed content-length, it was causing other problems
2. added check for user-agent='contype' and returning only headers
3. removed cach-control headers
4. compressableMimeType = 'application/pdf' is enabled in Tomcat config
My hunch is #2 was the real problem, would need further testing to know for sure.

Prodn Ord print prob (order locked under transaction CO02).

The requirement is when I am releasing a producton order it should get printed. Now when I release and save production order, i get a message as "This order is locked under transaction CO02".
The release takes place (status is REL), but th print does not take place (no spool in work order case LV01). If I reprint this order, it is printed correctly.
If I double click on the message, I do not get any information.
In OPK8 Flow control for transaction, eveything is * and the radio button Online is selected. Does this have any relevance in this case?
I have not seen this message before during release of production order.

2nd assume everything setup correctly in Basis also hardware , please check your user profile.
3rd please check in your printer spool sp01 is there any spool.
4th please check the configuration been setup ? default after release should print.

Hi, im having trouble printing my report with more than the standard screen size. i want to print the report in a specific font size, so i created a customized page format. however, it does not print the succeeding columns of the report. what should i do? thanks

Received answer directly from SQL*Plus Development:
"sqlplus does not have a limit on the number of columns it displays."
They created a table with more than 256 columns with data and had no problem retrieving the data.

Printer probs with Home hub5

Can anyone out there help me - if so please use simple terms - I am not very computer literate! I had BT Infinity installed on Friday last with many issues which I won't go into, but on trying to print for the first time since the HH5 was installed, I get a message saying 'not recognised'. The printer is not wireless. The cable runs from the printer to the HH5 and the PC is also hard wired. What do I need to do to get the printer recognised?

Mono laser printer prob

I need a cheap mono laser printer to work on two Macs and possibly a PC, via a print server (still to be purchased)
Apparently Samsung's 1610 is not Mac compatible and there is no Mac driver for it
Do you know of a suitable printer and have you any advice about a print server - purchased in the UK?

If you are talking a new printer then what Greg says is the way to go.
If you want a used printer then I use and highly recommend a 16/600. They are built like a tank, frequently come with postscript, frequently have ethernet on them and I've seen them go for $50. A friend got one for free.
Parts and cartridges are reasonable too when you consider how many copies they are good for.
They can use Appletalk and ip printing and are seen on Classic apps for printing in Classic. Drivers are built in for 10.1 and up and networking with my wifes Win XP printer was not too tough either ( an of off the wall settings for ip printing was needed).
No print server needed. Just plug into hub or router.

Hi peeps im hoping some1 can help me out, im currently trying to install a epson stylus colour 480 printer on my system, its using a parallel connection, ive connected it to my mobo and computer and switched printer on, but its having problems finding it, so i went into the bios and noticed the parallel port is disabled, but when i was hoping it would have an auto it doesnt, it has 3 choices, so i was hoping someone on the forums can tell me what setting i need to set the parallel in the bios cheers all i would be very very gratefull.

I'd recommend setting the parallel port to EPP and EPP1.9. That gives you bi-di support to the printer but make sure you have a good cable which is IEEE compliant... which most modern printer cables are.
