Printer Profiles on iPrint

Hello Forums
Is there any automatic processes that updates already installed printers
on workstations if the Printer Profiles is updated e.g. with another
tray, or do i have to delete the printer and reinstall it manually with
that /ipp webpage?

You can't really push down the new settings automatically. However,
there are a couple of things you can do depending on if this is NetWare
or Linux. If it's NetWare you can rename the printer agent on the
Manager screen. Renaming the printer will cause iPrint to install the
new printer and delete the old printer automatically. When it's
installed with the new name it will pull down the drivers and printer
profile meaning it will get the updated profile with new settings (e.g.
new tray added).
An option that works with both platforms is to create a new printer
altogether and then define printer agent redirection again within the
NDPS/iPrint Manager. When someone attempts to access a redirected
printer the iPrint client will download the new printer and delete the
old one. TID 3006726 gives more information on printer agent redirection.
Note that a feature for OES2 SP2 is auto driver update. The checkbox
already exists in iManager on OES2 SP1 with the latest iPrint plugin but
is not yet active.

    2. Re: How to install Epson ICC profiles using Photoshop CC?
Mark Goodwin LRPS Aug 28, 2014 4:14 PM
I had a problem and needed to upload a HP Printer Profile.I down loaded it from the site then opened and placed in the Mac: Library/ColourSync/Profiles folder. I then restarted the computer and restored PS CC separately. I was able to find the profile under the View>Custom> drop down and select it. But when I came to the print stage the profile was not to be found in PD Print. I also trued installing the profile  via Username/Library?ColourSync?Profile folder. But still no luckHelp please?

I thought I had solved the problem when I came across a new HP App that specifically claimed to solve the problem people were having with iPrint: "HP ePrint Home & Biz", but that does not work either.  It gets as far as registering the App but then will not complete the verification (just will not open HP ePrintercenter.com).  But in that case I think the problem is that my printer (Photosmart C7280) does not have the eprint capability.  But it IS listed as compatible with the iPrint App (http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/ePrint-Print-Apps-Mobile/hp-iprint-app-help-not-finding-printer/m-p/827... )

  • Printer Profile- Custom Paper not installing

I've been having an issue from prior to switching to the iPrint appliance where when I make a Printer Profile and add a custom paper size, that the custom paper does not get installed with the printer. I'm using the HP Universal Print Driver PCL6, v5.7, and in the process that I find that I am required to edit a driver's profile twice in order to add the custom paper type, in my case a clone of Letter called Letterhead.
The first time that I edit the printer driver profile I configure as much of the first driver screen as I can since I can't give the correct Letterhead tray assignment because it hasn't been created in the 2nd Printer Properties screen yet. Then I get to the screen and create the Letterhead paper type, open the PDP again and assign the Letterhead paper to the correct tray and then complete the PDP.
When the printer deploys to the systems it deploys with the letterhead tray showing as an Unknown paper type, even though I can go back into the PDP and see Letterhead designated on the tray. I can usually go into the local system manually and create the Letterhead type and assign the tray but whenever there is an update to the printer I have to manually fix the tray. Am I missing something for deploying custom paper in iPrint?

    Hi there Wolf!
I have a couple of articles here that I believe will help you out with your question. First, here is an article with some information on custom paper sizes:
OS X Mountain Lion: Manage custom paper sizes
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH10748
Note that in that article, it states:
Custom paper sizes aren’t available for some printers.
The reason for that is because this is controlled by the driver for the individual printer. You will want to make sure you have the latest version of the printer driver installed on your computer. More information on this can be found in the following article:
Printer and scanner software available for download
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669
It might also be helpful to reset your printing system to see if that will resolve the issue. More information on this process can be found here:
Mac OS X: How to reset the printing system

Take care, and thanks for visiting the Apple Support Communities.

  • Driver Mismatched with Printer Profile

In my development of our iPrint appliance I needed to open a service request to get drivers and settings from our old iPrint server to transfer to the iPrint appliance that I'm trying to build up for production. After completing this portion of the migration I'm trying to continue with updating some printer driver profiles but am running into unexpected behavior when trying to change these settings.
For instance, I have a HP LaserJet 1320 PCL5 for Windows 7 x64 driver which was uploaded to iPrint from the local system, the driver came from the Microsoft provided printer driver list. The unaltered driver is attached to the appropriate printers on the old system, but with deployment on the new iPrint we found a setting that needed to be toggled from enabled to disabled so I'm trying to create a printer driver profile. In going through the process to create the profile and the driver opens the HP Universal driver v5.1 opens, not the PCL driver.
I also looked into converting all of my HP printer drivers over to the HP universal drivers but found that each driver profile that I built for each different model printer became the driver profile of the last printer profile that I created. For example if I made a profile for x64_lj1300, x64_lj1320, x64_lj4050 in that order, the printer profiles for the 1300 and 1320 would assume the settings configured on the 4050 which would include 2 paper trays, letter and legal, as well as a duplexer.
I've even built up a 2nd iPrint appliance and am seeing similar behaviors with the universal driver profiles, even by building the system up from scratch and not importing old printers or drivers from the old system. Any ideas what is happening?

Figured it out. On my appliance I had a hard coded DNS reference to reuse an entry that is on my existing iPrint server and I had my dev VM configured similarly, but have since reverted to a previous snapshot which did not have the hard coded DNS entry in the hosts file. So when I tried to edit a printer driver I was logged into the appliance but was trying to edit entries from my old server.

  • How do you use an outside Lab ICC Printer Profile in PSE 12?

I have an image that I scanned in from an old print then I edited it using PSE-12. Now that I've completed the editing and retouching I plan to have the image printed by an outside that has the ability to read ICC Printer Profiles designed for their printers embedded in the image. My proble is I don't know how to add a particular ICC Printer Profile to a image worked on in PSE-12. If I was using Lightroom or PS-CS5 or 6 there is a straight forward way to accomplish this goal.
Is there any way to accomplish the same objective when using PSE-12?

Thanks MichelBParis.  I must be getting old (I'm 78) and I completely missed that when I was in Dry Creek Photo. In fact that is where I get all of my ICC Printer Profiles from when I'm using either Lightroom or Photoshop CS. What I'm doing is tutoring a friend on the use of PSE-12 (although I do own a copy for my own use) and I was trying to set him up to use ICC Printer Profiles and avoid letting the labs do "Automatic Color Adjust). I had many images ruined in the past just because the lab did an automatic color adjust until an operator schooled me on what was happening. I'm now a part time photographer and I never send an image to be printed without first making sure I have an applicable ICC Printer Profile embedded. and request the lab to turn off their automatic color adjustment.
Thanks again for the perfect solution.

  • Print profiles no longer working correctly with CS6 64bit to my Epson R2880

Hi, until recently, my print profiles were working correctly  with CS6 64bit (Win 7 ultimate 64) to my Epson R2880, they now print washed out/desaturated  but the same profiles still print correctly using Lightroom 4. has there  been an update that could have affected things or are there any other  suggestion? Thanks, Dave.

    Hi,
    I hope someone can help!
I recently bought my first Mac, a great MacBook Pro which I love!
I use Lightroom3 and Photoshop CS5 to edit photos and now want to print from my Epson R1800.
I found that the prints initially came off very dark & contrasty, so I calibrated both the MBP screen and my Samsung SuncMaster 245B monitor with my Spyder2 and the Colorvision software.
Even after establishing colour profiles for both screens, the printed image was still far darker and "heavier" than that shown on screen. This was the same whether printing from LR3 or from the Mac Preview app (it was worth trying I thought!).
So searching for help on the web I came across this thread and now wonder whether I should uninstall my driver (6.57) and reinstall the printer with 6.23.
Stephen did you find that this worked - did PS CS5 behave after that?
Of course I'm trying to print some work soon and in desperation could adjust every (edited) image by brightening & reducing contrast, however with dozens to print it seems crazy to do that, not to mention wrong!
    Thanks for any help!
    Paul

  • Printer profiles in templates

I've just spent most of the afternoon trying to resolve a problem.
My question is does any one know if the printer profile in " User Templates" overrides the one selected in the image settings column.
The reason I ask is that I've been trying to match 2 print sizes in LR without much success. The smaller ones match the screen but the larger one's don't. Both were printed from my own designed templates.Nothing complicated just some custom sizes. Switching to CS3 I printed the larger prints and got a perfect match.
In frustration I used one of the LR print templates to see what would happen. Guess what I got the match I was looking for.
Not wishing to make the mistake again I deleted the offending template before it occurred to me to check the profile associated with it.
Regrettably I couldn't check what printer profile was included, hence my question

When you print from iPhoto you can select the paper type, such as Archival Matt, and that Epson profile will be used. The Epson R300 Standard is merely a description of the printer you are using. This is the same behavior as in Photoshop. Where you might see a difference is in the way Photoshop displays the image on screen, based on your monitor profile and color settings. iPhoto is not really using a source profile for display purposes, other than the camera sRGB (assuming you're using a digital camera that uses sRGB. So if you edit an image in iPhoto—brightness, contrast, etc) it may apper different on screen and cause you to make changes that will result in a unsatisfactory print.

  • Unable to load icm printer profiles in Lightroom 5

I am unable to access correctly loaded RGB printer profiles in Lightroom 5.
In the print module when color management profile "Other" is selected no loaded profiles appear; and Lightroom usually freezes.
Using Photoshop v6 on same computer I can access all loaded printer profiles. I have reloaded LR5.
Does anyone have a solution or work-around for this problem?

The "Include Display Profiles" checkbox is at the bottom of the list that comes up if you click "Other..." in the Lightroom Print Job panel. If this is the point where Lightroom freezes you won't get to it of course. So then the question is what prevents Lightroom from loading that list?  Maybe someone else has suggestions, so hang on for a while.
Anyway, whatever the extension, the point is that the profile in question has to be the correct one for that particular printer/paper/ink combination. Apologies if this is stating the obvious, but you don't really have a choice between several, you just pick the right one. They install with the printer driver and are named for instance "Epson <model> Premium Semigloss" and so on, different profiles for different paper types.
Or you can make your own profiles. I believe the ColorMunki, for one, lets you create printer profiles as well as monitor profiles.

  • Printer profiles in lightroom

i own an epson 4000 pro printer when i go to the print tab of lightroom i cannot set printer profiles.

I am having great difficulty with printer (Epsom Stylus r320) colour reproduction...what I see on my calibrated screen does not appear true on the printed paper image....I have tried to download various ICC profiles from Epsom but they all (5 of them) give too dark an image...compensating in the develop module sort of helps, but it destroys the whole idea of the WYSIWYG aspect of working in Lightroom....any hints out there for this dilemma?

  • Printer Profiles in Lightroom 4

I have a Mac Mini and Lightroom 4.  I downloaded printer profiles from a local lab but don't know how to get Lightroom to recognize them for soft proofing and printing.

You need to put them in the correct location for the system to pick them up. This is in /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ or in ~/Library/ColorSync/Profiles. After you put the profile there, restart Lightroom and they will show up when you select other in the profile dialogs in Lightroom. Unfortunately in the last versions of Mac OS X, the finder hides these folders by default. Simply go into the Go Menu and select "Go to Folder" or hit Shift-command-G and type the above locations. The drag the profiles in the resulting finder window. If you're the only user on the machine either location is fine.

  • Color management/print profile setting in LR2

I tried to set a custom print profile in the LR2 Print Module. Specifically, I picked print to JPEG and under "Color Management" I picked "Profile/Other. When I pick other, an empty pick panel pops up. I use Vista 32 and under "\Windows\system32\spool\drivers\color" there are lots of ICC profiles available. How do I point LR2 to the location where Vista stores these profiles?
    Franz

    franz:
    >As described in my opening problem description, I would like to print to JPEG and using the new LR2 ICC profile option provided under "Color Management" / "Profile/Other" and pick an ICC profile.
I'm not sure what the solution may be. When I chose to print to a .jpg file I see four profiles show up: sRGB, Adobe RGB, and Pro Photo RGB in addition to my normal printer profile. If I chose 'Other' then I see all of the profiles in C:\Windows\System32\spool\drivers\color. If I deselect 'Include Display Profiles' then I only see those profiles associated with my default printer. I know that sRGB and Adobe RGB are installed by the disk that installed my V500 scanner drivers, but those are 'generic' files and may also have been installed by other driver software.
Note, none of the profiles in that folder were copied there by me. All 31 were installed either by a printer driver installation, monitor installation, or installation of my Epson V500 scanner.
Quite possibly some were there after I installed the system but before I installed any drivers--I can't say for sure because I never looked at that folder before installing drivers.

  • Colormunkie Photo printer profile (*.ICM and *.ICC ) are not seen by LR4.2 in the Print Job section

Colormunkie Photo printer profile (*.ICM and *.ICC ) are not seen by LR4.2 in the Print Job section
I used Colormunkie Photo to create an .ICM file for printer calibration.   When that failed I tried changing the suffix to .ICC.  Under neither circumstance did LR4.2 display the file in the menu to select printer profile.  There were several display files with both suffixes but no printer files at all.  I tried three times with no success and cannot think of what else to try. The first two were the same.  I varied the file creation name suffix in the third.  Help will be appreciated. My OS is Win 7 ultimate SP1  Printer is HP 2550L laserjet.

    Tillman
Glad you found your answer, Colormunki is smart enough to figure out the color space for the printer as I found out - But for quality work the latest generation of inkjet printers from Epson and Canon are hard to beat, and compared to a laserjet the quality is like night and day. The other benefit of changing up to an inkjet printer is the choice of papers available which you could not put through a laserjet.
I had a colleague that tried printing on Photoglossy paper through his color laser and it fried the fuser, and HP, while they replaced the fuser unit under warranty, made it very clear that that was a daft thing to do.
So if I were in your position I would go with an inkjet and you will then enjoy the benefits of better quality output, better paper choices and with your Colormunki be able to make custom profiles that will work in LR
    Cheers

  • Elements 6 Printer Profile not showing up on Elements 10 when I go to Print

A third party created a printer profile that I successfully used on Elements 6. However that Printer Profile is not functioning with Elements 10. I would definitely like that Printer Profile to operate when I print on Elements 10. What to do to accomplish that goal? That's the overview. Here's the details: In Elements 10, I press Print. then Change Settings. Then Print Quality (Listed as default 720dpi,terrible print quality). Press Change. That takes me to Epson Stylus 3800 Properties. That box has the right Printer Profile I used in Elements 6. I press OK to get it embedded in Elements 10, but it won't embed and I'm stuck with the 720dpi default. Can someone help with this enigma? I thank you in advance for your time, expertise and willingness to help me!

  • Embedding printer profile in pdf doc? (e.g. forcing it to print Landscape)

    Hi there!
I just sent a client some .pdfs. They were exported from InDesign and are formatted for Landscape. The client wants to know if there's a way to ensure that the document will default to Landscape if a recipient tries to print them out (to save on paper and inconvenience).
I've looked around and couldn't find a solution to this. Any ideas / help would be hugely appreciated!!
    Thanks in advance!
    Stu

No, you can't do that. There's no such thing as an embeddable printer profile for PDF. And everyone has different printers with different capabilities and limitations.

  • How do you specify printer profiles in Elements 11?

I upgraded from Elements 7 where there was a "drop-down" box that listed all of the available printer profiles to choose from.  I don't see a drop-down box in Elements 11 to accomplish the same thing.  I use Color Munki to set up printer profiles and can't find them in Elements 11.

Both Epson and HP have been playing a game of Hide-and-Seek for the last year or two. Instead of putting the profiles they install into one of the common Profiles folders, they are in the /Library/Printers/ folder. For Epson, drill down to /Library/Printers/Epson/InkjetPrinter2/ICCProfiles. At least, this is where the installer for the Stylus Pro 4900 puts them.
It was much harder to find those installed for the Stylus Pro 4000. They are still in this general area, but were hidden inside one of the .plugin packages a bit deeper into the folder structure.
Either way, the Epson print drivers know where these profiles are and show up in the print dialogue boxes. Trouble is, other apps, such as Adobe, Quark, can't see them, so you can't choose any of the profiles from those program's print option boxes.
The only solution is to locate the profiles in the /Library/Printers/ folder and move all profiles to either the /Library/ColorSync/Profiles/ folder, or the Profiles folder in your user account. You want to move instead of copy so each profile isn't showing up twice in the Epson print dialogue box.
