Printer properties windows remains blank

Hello,
i'm using Adobe Acrobat for Linux ( 9.3.2 04/01/2010) with Suse Linux Enterprise Desktop (SLED10SP3). I have different printers and drivers installed (e.g. Kyocera-Mita KM5050, Xerox Phaser 6360, HP LaserJet 4250dtn and many more).
When a document should be printed in double-sided mode (in german "duplex") this had to be choosen in the printer properties dialog. But the problem is, that this dialog window keeps blank. With older versions of Adobe Reader for Linux (e.g. 8.x) it works, but not with 9.x. On OpenSuse 10.x and 11.x with the same version of Adobe Reader for Linux installed, it works. I mean the printer properties window is filled with the necessary data, so i can choose the options for printing.
Novell the distributor of SLED10 told me in a Service Request, that they can't do nothing cause Acrobat Reader is closed source 3rd party software where they don't offer Level 3 (code fixes) support for it. That means i won't get a bugfix if any defect appears in Acrobat Readers code. Therefore they recommend using opensource tools like evince or kpdf.
Anybody out there who have the same problems?

Hi,
Do other users still work well?
Locate to Services, find Print Spooler service and check if its startup type is set as Automatic.
Have you cleared and reset your print spooler?
Open Services, and stop the Print Spooler service.
Navigate to the folder below, and open the PRINTERS.
C:\Windows\system32\spool\PRINTERS
Delete all files in the PRINTERS folder until it is empty,
Re-start the Print Spooler service

Thank you for your kind consideration of my problem. Up until the software started to print blank pages the preview pane always showed the selected print within the selected layout. Something has changed. Lightroom will print to the JPEG file but only a blank page on the Epson 2880. I've been in contact with Epson support and an IT tech and they tell me the problem is with Lightroom. I'm at my wits end and thinking of upgrading but the glitch may carry over. Uninstalling and reinstalling and deleting the preferences file did nothing to rectify the situation.
    Thanks again!

  • Why does my download window remain blank whenever i download a page?

i cannot find my downloads, since the download window remains blank whenever i click "download" on any web page.

Have you tried the suggestions in this article? [[What to do if you can't download or save files]].
Also, although it's not a complete replacement, I usually print those kinds of pages to PDF.

  • Properties Window goes blank!

    Hi,
I am encountering this problem in Dashboards where in when I open a dashboard, and I select a component for the first time, I am able to view all of its properties within the properties window. However, the properties window goes blank for any subsequent component which I select, as shown in the screenshot below. Can someone please point out why I am facing this issue, and if I can do something to resolve it?
For further reference, I am running Dashboards version 6.0.5.0, Build 14,0,6,1036 on Windows 8. Please do let me know if there are any further details which are required.
    Thanks in advance.

    Hi Yash,
I have tried reinstalling Dashboards, but to no avail. Also, I running only one instance of Dashboards, with no Excel file opened either. The problem seems to persist. Can anyone else please throw some light on this issue?
    Thanks and Regards,
    Eshwar Prasanna
EDIT: I find that clicking on the blank area will cause the properties to show up once again. Therefore the issue can be handled. However, this should not be cropping up in the first place. Is there any way to solve this? Or a way to raise this issue up with SAP so they might consider a solution?

  • Printer Properties Window - Officejet Pro 8620

When I open the Printer Properties window and select the Printing Shortcut tab, each of the options (i.e. General Everyday Printing, Two Sided (Duplex) Printing, etc.) has a small lock icon at the bottom of the bigger icon. Why?
    This question was solved.

    Hi,
They are preset shortcuts and you can't mofify if BUT you can define or add your short cut(s) if you wish. For example: on my printer I use duplex as default and I have a short cut called oneside when I need to pring only one side

  • Print preview window is blank

Sometimes when I try to print a PDF from the net my print preview window is blank even though it shows the document might be multipule pages long.  The same can happen when trying to print out other things from the net....any ideas out there?
    thanks, Steve

Hi Steve, not sure, but they have ways of preventing you from printing some PDFs, & possibly other ways to obscure it.
Do you have a link to one that shows blank?

  • When I download something from the Web, the "Downloads" window opens, but the window remains blank. Before it used to at least show the name of the file and I could open the file from the "Downloads" window. Is there a way to get this functionality back?

I'm running Windows XP which is updated to latest version (which I think might be Service Pack 3, but not positive.) Mozilla Firefox is version 5.0. I tend to use Google as my search engine so most of the stuff I download comes through sites found through Google, which is also updated.
At some time in the past (maybe a few versions ago) when I would download a file from the Web, the "Downloads" window would open and in the window would be displayed the name of the file I was downloading or had just completed downloading. I think I used to be able to then click on that file name and the file (or the installation file if needed to start the new program) would open. I am currently using Firefox 5.0 (the "About Firefox" screen says this is up to date) and when I download a file or document, the "Downloads" window appears on the screen as it always has in the past, but it remains blank, i.e., nothing appears in the downloads box. I don't remember making any configuration changes, etc., that may have caused the window to remain blank, but I could be mistaken. I know how to find the items I've downloaded (My Documents / Downloads) and can usually guess what the name of the downloaded file might be, but it used to be much easier when something (anything) showed up in the downloads window.
I'd love for someone to tell me about a simple fix for this. I'm willing to be quite embarrassed that I did something I shouldn't have.'''

In Firefox Options / Privacy be sure "Remember download history" is checked. To see all of the options on that panel, "Firefox will" must be set to "Use custom settings for history".
To find your OS information, on your Windows desktop, right-click the My Computer icon, choose Properties, under System on that small window is info about your OS.

  • Strange characters / Wrong language in Print Properties (windows 8.1 pro 64-bit)

    Dear HP,
When I open 'printer properties' from my Office Word 2013 I get the following.
However, when I open 'printer properties'  via Control Panel, everything is OK.

    Hi Hakkelaar,
Do these characters appear when you open the printer properties in other programs too, or just from Word 2013? I would suggest you do all of your Windows Updates and restart the computer. If the issue persists the next solution I propose is to delete the printer driver from the Printer Server Properties and then re-add it. Use the instructions below to accomplish this task.
In the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder
    2. Choose ‘Print server properties’.
Win XP – With no printer selected, click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows Vista – With no printer selected, press ‘Alt’ then click ‘File’ then ‘Server Properties’.
Windows 7/8 and 8.1 – Select any printer in the ‘Devices and Printers’ folder and click ‘Print Server properties’ above.
    3. Click on the ‘Drivers’ tab at the top of ‘Print server properties’ window
    4. Choose the printer you want to uninstall and click ‘Remove’
    5. Choose 'Remove driver only'
    6. The next screen will give a warning, letting you know that deleting the driver package will remove it from the system. Click ‘Yes’ to say that you are sure you want to do this.
If documents are stuck in the print spooler, you may see an error, cancel any documents pending in the print queue, or try restarting the print spooler, then try to remove the driver from ‘Print server properties’ again. If it still won’t remove the package, restarting the computer and the printer should resolve this ‘in use’ error and allow the driver to be removed.
After the driver is removed, open Start > All Programs > HP folder > Printer folder > HP Setup and Software (or the printer icon).
The Setup and software screen will open and you can click on Connect a new printer.
Please let me know if this resolves the issue or if the issue lingers.

  • Activity monitor remains blank

I installed OS X Mavericks. It's great. Speeds up a lot of things, but, the activity monitor is a bit laggy, may be even buggy. Previously on Mountain Lion, whenever I opened Activity monitor, it showed all the active processes. But now when I open it, the window remains blank. I have to manually do view> all processes to show things up.
Also the update frequency has been slow, very slow in Activity monitor. Am I the only one or others are facing the same problem?

I have more information. I read a post here that claimed wake up from S3 stops working if you over clock BCLK past 170.  I reset my bios to safe settings and set up hybrid S3 sleep and it worked !!!
Next step was to start to apply my over clock one step at a time and find which bit was messing up S3 wake up. It does seem to be the BCLK. With memory clock multiplier set very low so that memory wasn't the problem, I adjusted BCLK upwards until S3 wakeup stopped working. I haven't finished testing yet but it is somewhere between 165 and 170. As long as BCLK is at 165, wake up from S3 works fine. The other post can be red here:-
    https://forum-en.msi.com/index.php?topic=136780.0
If this is the problem, it's very disappointing because my system runs stable at BCLK 195 with the multiplier at 21.

  • Printer Properties not displaying all settings.

The Printer properties in Adobe Reader for Linux do not display all the available preferences for a given printer driver- and you are unable to edit the Printer Command in the Printer Properties window to get around this. This combo of limitations renders it useless in our environment.
We have a Savin C6055 printer in a multi-tenant facility. Each print job needs User Code associated with it for accounting purposes. The CUPS drivers for Savin support this quite nicely and other Linux apps (Evince, OpenOffice, etc.) allow you to access this setting in the print dialog. Adobe Reader does not.
    This is a problem.

    Hi Patrick,
This is something we're planning to fix in our upcoming major release of the Reader. To know about upcoming releases of the reader on Unix, stay tuned to the reader blog at http://blogs.adobe.com/acroread

  • CantSelect"Print Properties"WhenTrying2Print a Doc.in MicrosoftWord-OFFICEJET6110ALL-IN-1

Sometimes I would like to click on "properties" when I have the printing window open in Microsoft Word because I want to change the settings for the document I am trying to print. However, whenever I try to do so, a mini box appears with the heading "HP officejet 6100 series properties" for just a split second before it disappears again. Nothing appears in the box, but it appears for really less than a second before it disappears again. It does not allow me access to the Print Properties window pane and I cannot choose alternative settings from which to print from. Is there anybody that can please help me with this? I would really appreciate it!! Thanks, Memer25 P.s. Could this problem have anything to do with my Windows Vista operating system? Thanks!

You just need to look in the correct place:
You won't find this on the OTN version of the BC4j doc, That page looks like 903 not 9031 doc.
You'll find definitions of the AM configuration parameters in 9031 Jdev help:
    Develop Business Components
    - Business Compents Reference
    - Business Component System Properties
Here is where you'll find doc for AM properties like:

  • HP Deskjet 9300 Printer needs Windows 8.1 Printer Driver

    Hi,
I'd really like to install my  HP Deskjet 9300 Printer up to my new computer, but it's Window's 8.1 and I can't see any options for a compatible printer driver on the HP Website.  Any advice would be much appreciated ...

    Hi Tom.
Sorry to inform you, this printer is not supported in Windows 8 and cannot be used with the operating system.
    http://h20565.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?sp4ts.oid=295930&docId=emr_na-c03168175&docLocale=...
You may try installing an alternative driver as available for Windows 7, however it is not officially supported and there are no gurantees for that to work on Windows 8:
Make sure that the USB cable is not connected to the product. If the USB cable is connected to the product, disconnect it.
From the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon (), and then click Devices and Printers. The Devices and Printers window opens.
Click Add a printer. The Add Printer window opens.
Click on 'The printer that I want isn't listed.
    Click Add a local printer.
    Click Use an existing port.
Click the Use an existing port drop-down list, select LPT1 and then click Next.
Under Manufacturer in the Install the printer driver window, click HP.
Under Printers, select the HP Deskjet 1220c.
When the installation is complete, a message displays on the computer stating that the product was added successfully.
In the message window, click Finished.
Connect the USB cable to the product, and connect the USB cable to the computer. A Device driver software was not successfully installed window opens.
Click Close () to close the window.
Right-click the HP Deskjet 1220c printer and then click Printer Properties. The Printer Properties window opens.
    Click the Ports tab.
Click the drop down menu, and then change the port from LPT1 to USB or DOT4. if htere are several USB or DOT 4 ports select the one with the higherst number.
    Click OK and try printing.
    Hope that may work,
    Shlomi
