Printer queue has decided to not show up anymore

Used to be when I print something the printer queue window would appear and list everything in the queue. Not only does that not happen anymore, but also when I go into the printer & fax preferences, and hit 'print queue', nothing happens at all.
A similar thing happens with my bluetooth thing. I turn on the bluetooth to try and transfer files, but when I hit 'send file' nothing happens.
I haven't added any software or anything in a long time, other than keeping up with general Mac software updates.
Any ideas?

Hi Willy, and a warm welcome to the forums!
Could be many things, we should start with this...
"Try Disk Utility
1. Insert the Mac OS X Tiger Install disc that came with your computer, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
*Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.*
3. Click the First Aid tab.
4. Click the disclosure triangle to the left of the hard drive icon to display the names of your hard disk volumes and partitions.
5. Select your Mac OS X volume.
6. Click Repair. Disk Utility checks and repairs the disk."

Then try a Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at bootup), run Disk Utility in Applications>Utilities, then highlight your drive, click on Repair Permissions, reboot when it completes.
(Safe boot may stay on the gray radian for a long time, let it go, it's trying to repair the Hard Drive.)

I have a macbook air and the shared printer from a pc does not show up on my printer list. I know it's available on the network as I have a another pc that has access to it. The Mac did find it at one time but it has since disappeared. Appreciate help.

Can you see the CD ripped songs in iTunes itself? Can you then right-click and select "Show in Windows Explorer"?

Printers are not showing up anymore when user want to select a printer

I was looking for a Basis forum but couldn't find it. So, I guess this is the best forum where I can post my question.
Our end users used to be able to select printers but now all printers are not showing up anymore in their output device list. The only printer shown is LOCL.
This problem just happened from one day to another and now nobody can select printers. The just can print to their LOCL printer
Any idea or suggestion?

Unlock slide bars are not showing up anymore...

I recently noticed that unlock slide bars that were originally on my DX are not showing up anymore. When I wake the phone up it goes directly to the home screen. Anyone know why or have this issue?

Do you have an app called No Lock? If not try a battery pull and see if that helps.

Iphoto is not showing faces anymore.

Hello everyone.
For some reason, my Iphoto is not showing faces anymore. All faces I've cataloged are still there, but it shows only the names. And there are many more others to identify, but It's impossible, because the menu shows only black thumbnails.
All the other features of the app are working fine and all my pictures are shown on the other menus, like "events" or "albuns" for example.
What can I do to solve this problem?
I have already updated to Iphoto 11, my OS is Mountain Lion (last update 10.8.2).

Try the following:
1 - launch iPhoto with the Command+Option keys held down and rebuild the library.
2 - Run Option #2 to rebuild the thumbnails. It may several attempts.

PDF Virtual Printer Queue has doc print errors but PDF's created

This has probably been answered already somewhere here, but I can't seem to find a current solution.
I am using Windows 7 64bit Pro and Acrobat X Pro. When printing to a PDF from any source - word, excel, email, the PDF is created correctly, but my PDF Printer Queue shows a document print error and leaves the doc in the queue.
This wasn't happening before so I am not sure if it's a known issue that an update has fixed or something else. If there is another thread that has the answer, let me know. Or a link to the fix would be great! Thanks.

It works for current OS versions. If other dialogs appear, continue to add the printer.
The printer will be called localhost. Select it to print from eTax and choose the option to " Print to pdf"
Directions previous were to go to the manufacturers site, not the Apple site for the install, but its ok, link above is a better alternative.

Print Preview in routing does not show text

Good morning all...
We have a user who is attempting to preview their print job, and currently the print preview function in the routings does not show the standard text. It displays the page number but nothing else.
I am trying to obtain more information from the user now, but was wondering if this is something that anyone else may have run into. I will be updating this message with more details as I obtain them.

Print dialog does not show DINA4 anymore?

Hey,
after upgrading to Lion, i can't print DINA4 (e.g. PDFs through Preview) anymore,
the only option in the dialog is US-Letter...
do I have to add a special language pack? is the printing driver (SAMSUNG CLP-315)
not ready for Lion yet?

When the print dialog opens (e.g. in preview) it chooses the default printer and only gives US-Letter as option.
When I then choose the other printer from the pulldown menu, I can choose from lots of different
paper formats...switching now back to the default printer I can choose A4...
This is reproducable: whenever I open up a new printing dialog with the CUPS network printer as default printer
I only have US-Letter in the menu...

I have the same setup and since my update to Lion I experience the problem you describe. The print dialog only offers "US letter" in the "Paper Size" drop down.
I also use the same work around as you to set the paper size to A4. I select a local printer to get a long list of different paper sizes to choose from. When I switch back to a printer connected to a CUPS printer server, the list is kept. This allows me to select A4. However, it also allows me to select paper sizes not provided by the currently selected printer.
This is no satisfying solution

Mail does not show images anymore server stopped responding on my iPad 2 when attempting to browse web

Over the last couple of days my ipad 2 has started to play up. First the mail would not show images in mail then when trying to browse the web it now will not open any pages. I have attempted a wipe & reload but still no difference.

Have you tried restarting or resetting your iPad?
Restart: Press On/Off button until the Slide to Power Off slider appears, select Slide to Power Off and, after It shuts down, press the On/Off button until the Apple logo appears.
Reset: Press the Home and On/Off buttons at the same time and hold them until the Apple logo appears (about 10 seconds).

[SOLVED] Removable devices do not show up anymore in Nautilus' sidebar

I don't know when it started occuring, but Nautilus has stopped automountinh automatically showing my removable media in the sidebar. I can manually mount my media with udisksctl perfectly fine, so the error is somewhere in Nautilus and not in permissions.
I think I have all the relevant packages installed:
local/udisks2 2.0.0-1
local/polkit 0.107-4
local/polkit-gnome 0.105-1
local/gvfs 1.14.2-1
local/nautilus 3.6.3-1
In dconf-editor, both org.gnome.desktop.media-handling.automount and org.gnome.desktop.media-handling.automount-open are set to true.
Can you help me figure this out? It worked before but last time I mounted removeable media is a couple of weeks ago.

I just built Nautilus-git, but it's not showing anything either. I did get alot of messages about deprecated schemas though, that might be related:

Adaptation Mode HTML5 - deleted fields not show up anymore -Please Help

Hi was doing screen arrangements though the adaptation mode, and by mistake I dragged the label Purpose to an area out of the Expense Report screen area. the label and the field do not show up any more in the Expense Report from a non-Travel Related expenses and there is no way to add this field again, it doesn't show up either under the fields available to add.
since it is a required field i can't create the documents any more.

Help please.. .iweb will not show pages anymore

have 2 different full sites built and have had no problem in iweb 09.. until now. had moved pages and was publishing back to folder when . . . . it wouldn't publish... then i went to open pages in iweb and it will not show any pages or any site. i can open iweb, but the directory will not come up...
even tried to restore the application .... no go.... i now have 2 sites and, oh, about 25-plus pages lost somewhere..
any ideas?

Welcome to the Apple Discussions. Try the following:
1 - close iWeb.
2 - delete the iWeb preference file, com.apple.iWeb.plist, that resides in your User/Library/Preferences folder.
3 - go to your User/Library/Caches/com.apple.iWeb folder and delete the contents.
4 - reboot.
5 - launch iWeb and see if there's any improvement.
If that doesn't help continue:
6 - move the domain file from your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder to the Desktop.
7 - launch iWeb, create a new test site and save.
8 - go to the your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder and delete the new domain file.
9 - move your original domain file from the Desktop to the iWeb folder.
10 - launch iWeb and try again.
