  • Printer says "Incompatible Print Cartridge"

I have a HP Photosmart D110 series..  I bought it yesterday and when I first started it, it worked fine until I went and registered it..  Now the printer says Incompatible Print Cartridges and refer to status screen on my computer for details. So I logged in and the computer says this "Cartridge(s) are not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured.
See printer front panel for information on resolving this condition."
SO my question is what do I do since they are both referring back to each other????
    Thanks

If you haven't already - call or chat with support.  Sounds like the wrong cartridge might have gotten in the box or you might be using the printer in a location HP didn't expect it to go (different country).  Possible have your computer set to another country.  Supoprt should be able to help you sort it out.

  • HP Printer 4235--incompatible ink cartridge

I need someone's help.  I was using my printer HP 4235, but had to leave for a couple of hours.  I didn't turn the computer or printer off as I was sure I was coming back to print.  Now I get the incompatible ink cartridge and this is the same cartridge that I was using 2 hours before.  It was doing a great job.  If you can't help me, and in the words of that great profit, Ralph Cramden, "This printer, to the moon Alice."  Help please.

I just finished chatting with a VERY helpful support guy on the HP website.  Apparently, my printer has "identified" my old print cartridge as a clone (non-HP) or as having been refilled.  The only problem I have with that is that it was brand new when my boss purchased it from a reputable big office supply chain.  My only option is to purchase a new print cartridge.  Guess that's what we will do, but this time I will keep the receipt until the cartridge runs out of ink.  Maybe the store would replace it instead.  Though I don't believe we found the real problem, I am impressed with the dedication of the support tech with my case.  I would love to think that your problem is different than mine, but you won't really know unless you call or chat with support.  Good luck.

  • C4580 and incompatible print cartridge(s)

I bought a C4580 Photosmart when I lived in the USA last year. I'm now back in UK and need to get new ink cartridges.  On the HP UK site I get the HP 350XL cartridge as recommended for the C4580. BUT on loading it the printer says Incompatible Print Cartridge(s).  The old one was an HP74.  I've tried the "clean the contacts crap" too. You can't buy HP74 in the UK and the US site won't ship to the UK.  If its the case I can't use a UK HP cartridge that's completely unacceptable, otherwise make it possible to ship the others from the US.

Just call HP Tech Support in the UK and they will change the regionalization of the printer so that it'll accept HP 350 cartridges.

  • How to resolve the "Incompatible Print Cartridge" Message

    Hello everyone
Have you ever received the "Incompatible Print Cartridge" message? This can be caused by defective cartridges, dirty cartridge contacts, or using the wrong cartridges for your printer or region. If you get this message after moving to a different country and using a different HP ink you will need to call HP support and have them explain how to change the region of your printer.
If, however, you have not moved and you are getting this message with a new or current cartridge there is quite a bit of troubleshooting that can be done. There is both an article and youtube video to help you through resolving this issue They are both excellent tools to help with troubleshooting. If the steps don't resolve your issue make sure to try a different cartridges as this helps isolate the issue to the printer or the cartridge.

  • C4380 Incompatible print cartridge

I have valid cartridges in my printer - genuine HP 350 XL and 351XL.  I use an iMac.  I am up to date with the drivers.  In the middle of printing I got the message "Incompatible print cartridge(s)."  Does anyone have any ideas other than to replace the cartridges?

You will need to Contact HP to request a "Regionalization Reset". There should not be any charge for this, it is covered as part of the cartridge warranty. You will need to have access to your computer and printer while on the line with HP. You will also need to have a set of cartridges for the new region, once the reset is complete cartridges from the original region will no longer work.  HP's web page on the subject is here.

  • Incompatible print cartridge

HP Photosmart C4780.  I have installed 3 separtate HP 60 Black new cartridges & get message "incompatible print cartridge" every time.  Tri color cartridge OK.  I have connected/disconnected device several times, cleaned print head several times, re-loaded printer soft ware several times.  Store no help but willing to give me more ink cartridges or sell me new printer.  Could not find solution on HP forum.  Any ideas?  Thanks

    Hi bbguns,
I know you mentioned cleaning the printheads, was that using the software utility? If it was, the only step left to try is to manually clean it with q-tips as shown here:  http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01675471&tmp_task=solveCategory&cc=ca&dlc=en&lc...

  • "Incompatible print cartridge" error from All-in-one Photosmart Premium C309g-m

I just bought a new Photo Black cartridge for my printer, and I'm getting this message on my computer when printing:
"The following print cartridge(s) is/are not intended for use in this printer as it is currently configured.
    Photo black"
I already tried reseating and cleaning the cartridge with no change.
Can anybody tell me what this means or offer suggestions on next steps?  I really don't want to have to buy another cartridge.
    Thanks,
    -- Chris

Hi Comptronic; thanks for your suggestion.
I checked my cartridge--it's an HP Photo Black 564, which matches what the site you suggested says.  The other 4 cartridges are also 564s, and it's only this one that reports the problem, so I think it's the right one.
When this error occurs, does this mean the printer isn't using the cartridge, or does it still use it anyway?  The printouts look about the same despite the error, so I don't know if it's still using the cartridge or compensating with the other 4 cartridges.
    Thanks,
    --Chris

  • Printer doesn't recognize cartridge

The printer said 'empty cartridge' so i put in a new one, now the printer says the cartridge is empty but I know it's not empty and now it wont print.  When I hit print it says 'printing' and a second later it says 'finished printing' but the printer never makes a move, nevr makes a sound, and certainly is not printing.
How can I force this HP2452 to print?!
    It's only a month old!

    Hi @Kerfirou
I would be happy to help you with the cartridge trouble you are experiencing. Although you may not see incompatible ink or ink cartridge missing exactly, the following document will guide you through the necessary steps to troubleshoot the issue you have described; An 'Incompatible Ink Cartridge or 'Ink Cartridges Missing' Error Message Displays for HP Deskjet 151....
If the issue persists,  I suggest calling us. Don't hesitate to call, although the printer may be out of warranty, the cartridges could be in warranty; therefore, there wouldn't likely be a fee for the phone support. We will, at our option, either replace products under warranty that prove to be defective or refund the purchase price.
We could even determine after troubleshooting that it is a problem with the printer, in which case they may offer you a discount on a newer model.
The number to call is 1-800-474-6836 for Canada and US, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
To find the “Warranty Ends” date, look in the following table for the date's location on each product. The date follows the YYYY/MM/DD or YYYY/MM format, where YYYY indicates the year, MM indicates the month, and DD indicates the day.
    I hope this helps.

But, as history has shown, the changes are never as easy as you would think, and occasionally is not compatible without a complete rewrite of the program. If it is made compatible, it will be listed when available on the Web Printing homepage.

  • HP Officejet 6500 E709n Series (replaced all cartridges and printer won't print in color.)

I replaced my color cartridges and my magenta will not print. Originally only the black would print then after the following steps the bluee and yellow cartridges began working. Previous steps I have tried; Clean cartridges step one the blocks on the bottom of page not solid they were streaky. Clean cartridges step two nice print quality solid blocks at the bottom only blue and yellow no magenta. Followed your steps listed above cleaned print head. Aligned cartridges then printed quality page then print quality diagnostic. I am unable to get the magenta cartridge to print. I would appreciate your your help as we have an important school project due.

    @rkcpalmsprings, welcome to the forums
I am replying to you, to share the troubleshooting guide I would suggest for the magenta not printing from your Officejet 6500 Wireless. The steps may look familiar to you as you have tried quite a bit of troubleshooting already however, browse over the steps and try anything you haven't yet tried.

If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue and the magenta still will not print, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you, such as a replacement or trade in, as the printhead(s) may be at fault.

  • How do I print with only one cartridge that has ink?

I have windows 7 and HP Officejet Pro 8600 n911a Printer.  When the color inks depleted I could still print w/black tho had to click on permission stuff.  Now that the black ran out and I have replaced it with a new cartridge it will not print in black only.  These are expensive inks (what else is new????) so cannot afford to replace all at once.  Instructions say in one place that I can print with one or more empty cartridges. another place says I cannot do this.  I was able to print just black only as stated above but now I cannot do so after replacing the black cartridge and the 3 color are empty.   How do I print now with just the black ink only??????  Otherwise I have to wait a month or more before affording the color replacement cartridges.
    Thank you.

If anyone has a better solution then buying the color cartridges just to print in black, please let me know.
"In HP IIC systems, all supplies are required to be installed in the printer for the printer to function."  This information comes from the document on how ink is used in HP inkjet printers, found here.  Alas, there is no other solution.

  • OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus - N911g - refuses to print with an exhausted cartridge (yellow)

    Hi,
I owned this printer some months ago, and I have already substituted the black cartridge some times ago.
In fact, I usually use the b&w option to print my documents, and I use very little to no colors, instead.
Before deciding to buy this printer I had read the printer guide, which reports (translated from Italian):
[Printing with one or more cartridges exhausted]
The printer can work with one or more cartridges exhausted. However, printing with exhausted cartridges slows the printing process down and lowers the quality of the documents printed. If the black cartridge is exhausted, blacks are not going to be really dark. If a color cartridge is exhausted, the result is in the grey scale. As soon as possible, replace the exhausted cartridge. Don't remove the exhausted cartridge before you can replace it with a new one. [...]
    (screenshot attached)
The downloadable user-guide reports (no translation):
[Color cartridge very low on ink]
To temporarily print using black ink only, click Cancel Print and then re-send the print job. The
Use black ink only? message appears before the job prints. The empty cartridges will need to be
    replaced soon.
    (screenshot attached)
So, when I decided to go for this printer, knowing I substantially use black only for my studies and my work, I did take care of reading the entire printer guide and look for these specific official declarations by HP on the printer functionalities.
Additionally, I took care of disabling any HP protection and pages control on the cartridges before installing them, using the printer menu.
Today, instead, I've found out the printer won't print with an exhausted yellow cartridge. This is what the message window says (translated freely, again, from Italian):
    [Exhausted cartridge]
    HP 951 SETUP Yellow
Replace the cartridges in the list to be able to print.
HP advises not to remove the cartridge until you have a replacement one ready for installation.
Buttons are: [Buy online...] [Cancel printing] [?]
    (screenshot attached)
[?] leds to the words I've reported earlier.
I still have the "print just with the black cartridge" option enabled.
I tried cancelling the print and sending the print job again multiple times, as it is described in the guide, but no "Use black ink only?" message appears.
Before invoking and thinking to the "fraud", I ask, how am I going to be able to print, then?

The manual indicates the printer can temporarily use black only once a color cartridge is low.  Once the cartridge is depleted it will need to be replaced, otherwise damage to the printed may occur.
HP and other printer manufacturers have different printer technologies for different needs.
Some have printheads built into the ink cartridges.  These printers can typically print with one or more of the colors completely empty, or even with color or black (but not both) cartridges removed. The Deskjet 6980 series is an example.
Other printers have separate ink supplies and replaceable printheads.  An example would be the Officejet 8600. The printhead in these printers can be replaced if they are damaged by running the printhead with colors out.  Some of these printers will allow printing with a color out, other will not.  If the printer is run without ink in one or more colors the printer may be damaged, but the user may be able to recover without having to send the printer for service.
Other printers have permanent printheads.  To run these without some ink in all the colors would risk causing damage to the printhead due to clogs, air ingested in the printheadvor burned out printhead firing resistors. The Photosmart 3310 series is an example of this type of printer. For printers with fixed printheads this could require service to get the printer to print properly again when the ink is finally replaced.
The document here describes how ink is used.  While the document is written for HP Inkjet printers the same principles apply to inkjet printers from other manufacturers.
