Printer says "Paper jam" (thread was called Dennis)

I print using an Epson R2400.  I have previously printed from Lightroom 4 and CS6 without a problem but today when I try to print from LR4 I get the epson message 'paper jam' but if I switch to CS6, the image gets printed.  Any suggested remedies?

Hi there kmwrmj,
Try the steps in this article. At a point the directions will also take you through checking for a carriage jam if the error does not go away. Follow them through and let us know if it helps.
Best of Luck!

  • Printing on photopaper stops in mid-print, says "paper jam"

    Hello!
I've been trying to print photos on photo papers on the HP Officejet 4355 All-in-One printer.
I've tried the HP Premium Plus and HP Advanced photo paper in the Paper Type, and Best print quality settings, colored.
The paper goes in, prints about an inch of the image (in best wuality), but then the printer will stop and the printer would display an error message "Paper Jam."
I pushed the "Cancel" button, and the printer expelled the paper with no problems (except that i now have a semi-printed photo on my photopaper) and cancelled the print job on the WinXP Printer job dialog box.
I've only placed one paper in the paper tray, so multiple paper in the rollers is not a problem.
I've checked all the rollers. I've aligned and cleaned the cartridges. I have no problem printing on normal (substance 20-24GSM) paper.
I've also tried printing on cards (around 40-80GSM) but the same problem would occur -- paper would go in, will print an inch, stops then printer says paper jam.
How do get the printer to print completely on the photopaper or on any cards?
I've checked the user's manual, so far i have not read any troubleshooting solutions for this problem. Apologies for my long post. I hope you can give me some suggestions.
Thank you very much in advance!
    Warm regards,
    Jade

Hello there! Welcome to the forums @IdahoElk
I read your post about the printer issues you're having with your Officejet 100 Mobile printer. I have a couple of suggestions that may help you.
First of all, power reset the printer and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 30 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
Also, check out this troubleshooting document. Check the issues to see if you can find the description to what you are seeing on your printer.

If the troubleshooting does not help at all, I would lastly suggest technical support.

I have not put any papaer in it yet!!! i have taken it apart like the directions. but will not come out of the papaer jam screen. i am very frustrated. if i can not fix this soon, i will return it!!!

Hey there @sbrogers2001 , welcome to the HP Community
I read about your new Officejet 8610 showing a "Paper Jam" error, when there is no paper in the printer. This would be a "false" paper jam, which is troubleshot the same way as a regular jam. Please try the steps from the guide I posted for you below and if the error continues, give us a call as you most likely would need a replacement printer.

  • ADF says paper jam

I was scanning using the ADF when it came up with the message. There was no jam I opened the cover and lifted the carraige under the cover No Paper found jammed. Now I cannot even use the flatbed scan as it continues to tell me to ofen feeder cover and unjam. I would like to be able to use the flatbed scanner and would not care if I could not use the feeder.
Is there a way to disable the Feeder and just use the flatbed scanner?

Hello @Lee2015, and welcome to the HP Forums, I hope you enjoy your experience!
I see you are experiencing ADF jam issues.  I would like to help!
I'd recommend starting with a power reset.  Disconnect the power cord from the printer and the power outlet, then wait 60 seconds. After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in. Ensure you plug the printer directly to a wall outlet. Make sure to bypass any sort of surge protector or power bar.
I would also recommend plugging the printer power into a different wall outlet.
Good luck and please let me know the results of your troubleshooting steps. Thank you for posting on the HP Forums!

    Hi -
I can't tell from your post which specific jam you are experiencing.
I found the following on the HP.com support web site at
    http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport/TechSupport/Document.jsp?lang=en&cc=us&objectID=c01450544&jumpi...
On this page are a lot of possible jam causes and solutions.  This one is a description I think sounds similar to your report.
    Common causes of jams
Cause: When printing on lightweight paper or on jobs with heavy toner coverage, paper is wrapping on the fuser causing Fuser Delay Jam or Fuser Wrap Jam messages.
Solution: Set the LIGHT MEDIA optimize mode on the Print Quality menu to ON .

  • C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message 'clear paper jam.' There is no paper jam.

C3180 Photosmart All-in-one won't print. Gives message  'clear paper jam.'  There is no paper jam.  About a month ago there was a paper jam, but was removed.  It worked fine since then until yesterday.  I've tried all the HP trouble-shooting suggestions- unplug, take apart, manually move carriage, etc. and nothing has solved the problem.  The paper does not advance...all that happens if I try to print is a lot of noise like carriage going back and forth and after a/b 1-2 minutes it will show the "red X" blinking on the printer and a message on the computer screen, "Clear paper jam."  When the problem first started yesterday the message was that the printer was "Out of paper."  I need to print a resume and this is just the wrong time for someone such as myself with little computer knowledge to try to figure it out.  Thanks for any suggestions!

    Hi there pattimessick,
You may not need to remove/re-add. Try downloading and running the print and scan doctor located here:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c03275041&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en
It can fix a lot on its own (especially connectivity problems) and if not give a better idea of what is going on.

HP Deskjet 1000 printer.  Paper jam the paper moves and actually crinkles up at then end of the paper??? The paper is aligned correctly? HELP this printer is less than six months old.

I'm assuming you get 'paper jam' error messages at the same time?

  • HP Officejet Pro 8500 , false paper jam error message, small plastic piece broken

    product : HP Officejet Pro 8500 All-in-One Printer - A909a
    OS : NA
Error : (fake) paper jam on printer screen
I made no change before the issue. It occured while printing 2 pages. The first one was ok, the second one never shows.
First I spend many time searching after the paper, cleaning my printer etc...
Then I looked on the internet for advices, ideas etc.
    Endly I found this video : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PMFW1RRlDHE
I checked my printer and I saw the exact same piece as in the video broken...
I don't print often and I must say that I'm shoked that because if a f... piece worthing nothing all my printer and all the functions are unusable...
I tried the support to obtain information on how to get this piece replaced. All I got is an automated message saying banalities (expired guaranty) and other links to unrelated things.
Fortunately there was also a link to here...
    Thanks.
ps : My feeling is that this piece is made to fail if I believe many post often seen on google (look comments on the video)...

The very same thing happened to my 8500 WIreless.  I was printed a two page document and only one page came out.  since that time the printer is stuck in the 'Paper Jam' state.  Call it false or fake, it is simply inaccurate.  I watched the video and located the gear that breaks.  I opened the cover, stuck screwdriver in the sensor to make it think the cover was closed and watched it cycle.  I can clearly see that the white gear on the left is cracked, in fact separated.  The cycle causes the gear to rotate so I could get a good visual on it, even inside it's black housing.    I will now begin my hunt for repair options.
