Printer Sensor

Having a problem with HP Color LaserJet 3800 Printer toner cartridge sensor is saying that toner is out when the color has not even begun to fade and then of course the printer stops printing. Anyone else had this problem or know how to fix it?

Hello Mf2012,
Thanks for the post and the symptoms.  When you try to print on 8.5 X 11, does the printer generate an error message or does it appear to go through the motions of printing?  If you print a self test page, will the printer pick letter size paper to print that?  If it does print the self test without issue, then we may be looking at software or drivers.  If it doesn't, then we can focus on the media path of the printer.  Below are the steps to perform a self test.  Below that is a link to an excellent document that will provide several steps to resolve this issue should the self test not pick and print.  I don't believe it's a case of "printer writer's block" but more to do with some "Sierra" paper dust that has made the pick up rollers on the printer just a little slick, especially if you do a lot of printing.  Since the index cards are slightly thicker and heavier, the printer's rollers would have a better shot of grabbing those since the tolerances of the paper path are pretty tight.  Check section 4 "clean the rollers" in the document below (link), I think that will help.  Good Luck and keep us posted!
Load Letter or A4, unused, plain white paper into the input tray.
Press the Power button ( ) to turn on the product.
On the product touch screen, touch the Right Arrow ( ) to display the second navigation screen.
Touch the Setup icon ( ) on the control panel display. The Setup Menu displays.
Touch the Down Arrow ( ), and then touch Reports .
Touch Print Quality Report . The self-test report prints.

  • Tecra M5: finger print sensor is not working properly since a drink was spilt into the keyboard

My finger print sensor is not working properly since a drink was spilt into the keyboard. When booting up, it automatically "fails" 5 times in a row (without any attempts to swipe a finger), then defaults to password entry to boot the machine's hard drive.
This is not a problem and all i want to do is disable the finger print sensor, but cannot work out how to do this. I've tried uninstalling the driver, which I seemed to do without any problems, but when rebooting, the sensor still seems active, and still goes through the same process.
Everything else works fine and this is just a minor niggle, but I'd like to remove the annoyance of it beeping at me 5 times while it does its thing!
Can anyone tell me how I completely disable it?
    Thank you.

Have you removed the fingerprint software? If yes check if in device manager is listed some unknown device. Please post the result.
Maybe you can try to disable this unknown device and it will not be recognized as new hardware every time when you start the notebook.

    Hi:
I believe this driver from the dv7t-7000 will work as well as the security software to register your fingerprint.

    Hello @masefc11 ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're unable to use your fingerprint scanner after refreshing your notebook.
Can you tell me which version of SimplePass you currently have installed? To do this you can click the Help icon and then click on About. The version should be listed below the HP SimplePass logo in the About window.
Try going through both of these documents for help with fingerprint readers in Windows 8:
Using HP SimplePass Fingerprint Reader (Windows 8)
Troubleshooting a Fingerprint Reader (Windows 8)
Let me know which version you have, and if either of those documents resolved the issue.

  • K8600 Printer Cartridge Failure: Printhead or Sensor??

I have an Officejet Pro K8600 that ejects the print cartridge, cartridge light flashes, when I print. The supply levels say 80-100%. This happens even with a new cartridge. The diagnostics say the printheads are "good." I cleaned the print heads three times. All printing (when it does print) is clean and crisp, with no lines. HP support says I need to replace the printheads (yes, they are expired, but print quality is excellent). Office Depot rep says the print sensors are bad and motherboard needs to be replaced (actually says printer needs to be replaced, as it's not worth fixing). I love the printer (when it's not acting up) and speed and print quality is great. I don't want to pay $150 for two new printheads if this is not the problem. So, if print quality is fine, and cartridges are being ejected automatically in the middle of printing, is this a printhead problem or sensor problem? Thanks for any insights you might have on this....not ready to buy a printer for one that is only 2 years old.

    Hi there,
This can usually be resolved by cleaning the printhead thuroughly. Check this article out which may help.
    Best of Luck!

  • My iphone 5S finger print touch sensor got damaged , replacement of touch sensor will work  touch id ?

a local service person damaged my iphone 5s touch sensor while replacing the strip , after that only home button is working , finger print sensor is not working , only passcode option in settings, no touch id n passcode ... replacement of touch sensor will work the touch id ?? plz guide me

It was in warranty (one year) until it was opened.
If it is working (other than fingerprint reading), the safest thing is to just use it with a passcode.  It is still better than any other model iPhone.
If you are feeling lucky, you could take it back to your service person.  Maybe the cable from the home button isn't connected properly, and can be fixed.  There is, however, the risk of more damage, so you can end up with no working phone.
If there is a real Apple store available, they may accept it for a non-warranty replacement.  It would be cheaper than a new phone, but a lot of money for just getting fingerprint reading.

  • Custom Envelope Print Problem

3210 all-in-one gives error message when I try to print 5.75" x 8.75" envelope using Word (Vista OS)
.  I went into Printer Preferences on the PC, right-clicked on the printer and set up the custom envelope saving the name.  However, the size doesn't appear in Word's envelope "Options" diaglog box.  Consequently, printer doesn't recognize envelope size.
Does anyone have any ideas why Word isn't recognizing the saved custom envelope size.
    Thanks.

Hello, Last night I spent forever figuring that out, but not the way I think Vista & HP would do it.  I kept getting the paper doesn't match error message, too.  I finally figured out that I could:
    1) Create a regular Word file (I did not use an envelope template)  with landscape orientation.
    2) Enter the return address & delivery address information (it was a funny greeting card, so I used word art) using text boxes with no borders (unless you want borders.)  You can move the text boxes where you think they should go on the envelope by left clicking to get the brackets & then holding the mouse down while you arrange the text.
    3) Go to Print, then Properties, go to the Printing Shortcuts tab & select landscape orientation there, too.  Click okay.
    4) You're back in the first print dialog box, & down in the bottom right corner where it says Scale to paper size, select A5.
    5) Remove all the other paper from the tray & load your envelope in the main (bottom tray) face down, feeding lengthwise (remember it is landscape orientation), all the way to the right of the tray with the envelope closure toward the middle of the tray.
    6) Now move the guide bar that is on the left of the tray over to secure it in place (I think that also lets the printer sensor know you're not using full size paper.)
    7)  Click OK & it voila!!  It prints!
I went back in to the file & realized that it did not save my settings to do another, so you may need to do it each time.  To make sure you have everything where you want it, you can print out a test print on regular size paper & hold it up to your envelope to fine tune the placement of address, etc, & to ensure you load the envelope the right way.  & then remove all the other regular paper, & load the one envelope & pull the guide bar over.  You may need to check that those settings are still in place before you print the envelope after the test one, but once you get the hang of it you can do great envelopes with your cards, & even spruce them up with google images, or other graphics that the regular envelope settings don't do.I am sure there is a "proper" way to do this, but this worked so why not!  Good luck.

  • Windows 8.1 Fingerprint Sensor Driver not working - Fixed my issue

When I upgraded to Win 8.1 the finger print sensor wasn't working.  I had the correct drivers installed.  What fixed the issue was upgrading the hardware driver in the Device Manager program, under Biometrics.  Highlight the Validity listing, choose upgrade driver, choose selet from a list, choose the latest driver which will have a higher number obviously.   My fingerprint sensor is now working!

Unfortunately HP couldn't figure it out when I called them.  They installed the same drivers I already tried several times.  After I hung up, I figured to update the actual Validity Driver under Biometrics in the Device Manager section.  That fixed my issue.    I think HP techs need to be trained a bit more thoroughly.  So Kudos goes to me.

    Hello TanbirSingh,
You’re having a problem with the fingerprint reader not working.
Go into device manager and uninstall the Biometric device. Don’t restart the computer.
Go to HP.com and update the Fingerprint reader, this will be the newest driver.
Here is a link to the update.
Also update the BIOS to make sure that the device is being detected.
