Printer settings help....

My first Mac...Macbook. OX 10.5.1
Cannot get my printer to print in a normal black color. It always prints in a light or oblique shade with emails and word docs. This does not happen when I use my PC..so it's related in some way to the Mac. I have tried changing settings in both mail and word, but to no avail.
Any ideas ? Thanks.

Hello mrtroy,
I apologize as I am not able to completely follow what you are saying.
You receive a jpeg attachment and you open it and your photo printer starts printing it as soon as you open it? Are you saying that the printer is idle and it wakes the printer up to print when you open the attachment?
A few other clarifying information may be helpful in diagnosing this issue.
What printer make / model are you using?
What software do you use to view the jpeg files?
Make and model of the computer you are using?

  • Printer settings help after installing update

    Hello,
I downloaded an HP update yesterday and now when I open up a jpeg attachment, it starts up my photo printer so I can print the photo. I uninstalled the update, but it still wants to print. How do I change this so it doesn't automatically want to print when I open the attachment?
    Thanks,

  • Help with Photoshop Print Settings?  Please-I need this Before Tommorow!

Omfg, this is driving me up the wall. Does anybody have a solution as to why every single time I try to edit the photoshop page setup settings and click OK, it resets everything I adjusted and replaces it with the defaults.
    Somebody, please help me!

Are you looking at the settings for different documents?  The print settings are stored with the document now.
So, for example, if you open Document A and change its print settings, they should stay set for Document A.
But, if you then open Document B, you'll see the print settings that were originally saved with Document B.

  • Help! HP B1980 printer settings....

I have read books from both Scott Kelby as well as Martin Evening. Evening talks about a short paragraph on using this printer....
He suggests using "Managed by Printer" and using "ColorSync" in print settings and leave it at that. The printer is supposed to know and understands all paper profiles....
Is this what you use? If i wanted to print on my old epson using the Museo Silver Rag, i just had to select the right profile, and disable the "ColorSync" settings in the print settings dialog.
However, the HP print settings offer no such thing...(I use a Mac). How do you do this?
    Any help/tips appreciated.
    -Umesh
PS: I have posted the question in Luminous Landscape as well....

In the Print "panel" (in LR), at the very bottom (scroll), is the color management settings. Set Profile to "other" and it will all fall into place from there.

  • Help with print settings for Panoramas

    Hi,
I use an Epson 2880 and I am trying to figure out the print settings for doing an 11 x 34in panorama print on 13" roll paper from Aperture 3.0.3. I finally got it to do one print properly, but the setup was totally counter intuitive and I can't reproduce it. I tried using "Custom" Paper size and setting it to 13" x 36", then using the landscape mode and setting the Image Size to 11 x 34". Any way I did this ended up with the image printing the wrong way on the paper. So I went back and picked "Roll" paper. This leaves only one field to fill in, which I presume is the paper width (it really didn't make this obvious in the dialogue.). Then I set the mode to Portrait, and made sure that the settings for the Image size were 11 x 34. It then printed fine. But when I went back to print another file, even though I had saved the settings, now I am presented with only one box for specifying the Image Size and there is no way to get it right again. HELP! The settings for this kind of print in Photoshop is also counterintuitive, but when you get it set right, and you know the settings, no problem reproducing it. I think maybe there is a bug in AP3 with regard to this sort of setup.

Do you even know how to nuke and re-set Photoshop's preferences, colorplak?  Your last post seems to reveal that you don't understand what I'm talking about. Here's a link you can click on:
Preference file functions, names, locations | Photoshop CC
To re-create the preferences files for Photoshop, start the application while holding down Ctrl+Alt+Shift (Windows) or Command+Option+Shift (Mac OS). Then, click Yes to the message, "Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?"
Note: If this process doesn't work for you while you're using a wireless (bluetooth) keyboard, attach a wired keyboard and retry.
Important: If you re-create the preferences by deleting the Adobe Photoshop CC Settings file, make sure that you only delete that file. If you delete the entire settings folder, you also delete any unsaved actions or presets.
Reinstalling Photoshop does not remove the preferences file. Before reinstalling Photoshop, re-create your preferences.
Note for Photoshop 14.1 and later: If you use Generator and reset your Preferences, Generator is disabled. Choose Preferences > Plug-ins to turn it back on.
Video: Julieanne Kost created a video that takes you through two ways of resetting your Photoshop preferences. The manual preference file removal method is between 0:00 - 5:05. The keyboard shortcut method is between 5:05 - 8:18. The video is located here.
    Mac OS
Important: Apple made the user library folder hidden by default with the release of Mac OS X 10.7. If you require access to files in the hidden library folder to perform Adobe-related troubleshooting, see How to access hidden user library files.

  • Help needed on Dot Matrix Printer Settings

    Hi all,
We have a requirement to print some documents on a dot matrix printer.
I have created a device choosing SWIN as the device type & also assigned my Z page formats to this device type.
But printing with this device type takes a long time. So, to reduce the time, if I choose any one among  EPESCP/EPESCP2/EPESCP9/EPLQ550 etc as my device types, the printing gets fast, but the quality of the output is very bad ( its getting printed with a single font though I change the font & its size). Moreover the lines are not getting printed at the desired place on the page.
We are using a printer(TVS) which is Epson 24 Pin compatible.
Kindly help us if someone has any idea on this kind of printer settings.
    Thanks & regards,
    JITHENDRA

    Try OKI341 instead of SWIN.
It seems a bit more forgiving.

  • Lost Epson print settings in CS5. Help

When I initiate a print in CS4, I get the Epson options to choose paper settings, etc. In CS5, the file just starts to print. When I click on the button that says Print Settings, nothing happens. I have both CS4 and CS5 still on my computer so I am working in 5 and then printing in 4. Surely there is a fix for this???? Thanks!

In CS5, the "Print Settings" button has replaced "Page Setup". Click on it before clicking print. If you don't, it'll use the previously used settings.
If "nothing happens" when clicking the "Print Settings" button, try switching printers or try switching from "Photoshop Manages Colors" to "Printer Manages Colors" (or vice-versa). If all else fails, relaunch Photoshop while holding the command, control, shift and option keys (one of them may not be needed, but I can never remember which, so I just mash them all) to delete the application preferences.

  • Help... Print Settings Won't Open

In order to get to the ABW printing mode, I need to have "Printer Manages Colors" selected for "Color Handeling".  Then when I click on "Print Settings" I get the normal "Print" box that comes up where I have access to normal "Print Settings" options, one of which is "ABW" under "Print Mode".  And this has been working fine.  Then all of a sudden today, when I enable "Printer Manages Colors" and I click "Print Settings" nothing happens.  No new dialog box opens to the "Print" options as it usual does.  Nothing pops up.  If I switch color handling back to "Photoshop Manages Colors" and click on the "Print Settings" the box opens up as normal… but now of course the ABW option is greyed out.
I tried reinstalling the printer driver (Epson 3880)… but it's not related to the driver since it happens on multiple printers (HP & Epson).  This is a problem within Photoshop.  To make sure I'm not crazy, I tried it on another computer and it works as expected.
What could have caused this and how do I fix it?
PS and OSX are on their current versions (12.0,.4 and 10.7.3 respectively)

Ok, this is crazy... So, I moved the image I wanted to print over to my laptop.
I opened it in Photoshop on my laptop... where I had JUST confirmed that everything worked... and now the same thing is happening on the laptop.  So, I then switched to a different user on the laptop and opened Photoshop and was able to bring up the "Print Settings" box as normal.  Then, I opened the image in this users Photoshop and IT STOPPED WORKING!
How is it possible that an image can effect this?
There is nothing special about this image... it is tiff generated by Aperture from an iPhone photo.  There is nothing out of the ordinary.
And now, none of these instances of Photoshop will bring up the "Print Settings" box when color handeling is set to "Printer Manages Colors"... on ANY image. If I close out Photoshop, reboot my computer and relaunch Photoshop never even opening the image that started it, it no longer works.
    WTF?
    Update:
Ok, so I deleted all the Adobe PS related files in the Library->Preferences folder.  I reopend photoshop with another image and was able to get to the "Print Settings" box with "Printer Manage Color" enabled.  I then opened the tif I was planning on printing and sure enough, it no longer works.  So I delete the Adobe PS related files again.  However, before I did this I flattened the tif and saved it as a jpg (using Save For Web).  And now when I open that image I can get to the "Print Settings" box fine.
So, it looks like it was that tif that was causing the problem... but:
    a.  Why would it cause the problem since there is nothing (apparent) different than other images I've taken on the iPhone, processed in Aperture and then printed?
    b. Why would it cause a problem so that Photoshop is effected even when that image isn't open?
    c. Which preferences files exactly was the one that caused it (I deleted everything related to "Adobe" in the preferences folder... there are far too many to test one by one).
    Update 2:
Just to make sure, I opened another tif processed the same way in Aperture taken from the same iPhone and had no problem.

  • Help!  I cannot access "printer settings" dialogue...

For some reason, when trying to print with my Epson 3880, the print dialogue pulldown menu does not have a "printer settings" menu available.  Weirdly enough, it shows up for my Artisan 810.  Anyone have any suggestions?

Go to Settings>General>Restrictions. Do you have restrictions on? If so, that would prevent you from making changes in some areas of the iPhone.

  • Help, my print settings are so messed up. How can I return all to the orginal default settings?

Can anyone tell me how to return all my print settings to original default?

To downgrade to Firefox 3.6 first uninstall Firefox 4, but do not select the option to "Remove my Firefox personal data". If you select that option it will delete your bookmarks, passwords and other user data.
You can then install the latest version of Firefox 3.6 available from http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/all-older.html - it will automatically use your current bookmarks, passwords etc.
To avoid possible problems with downgrading, I recommend going to your profile folder and deleting the following files if they exist - extensions.cache, extensions.rdf, extensions.ini, extensions.sqlite and localstore.rdf. Deleting these files will force Firefox to rebuild the list of installed extensions, checking their compatibility, and reset toolbar customizations.
For details of how to find your profile folder see https://support.mozilla.com/kb/Profiles

  • Don't have printer settings for Epson CX9400fax since upgrading to SL

I recently upgrade my operating system from Tiger to Snow Leopard (after a HD crash). I have an Epson CX9400fax all-in-one machine and I am able to print, but I no longer have the Printer Settings options as before - where you can change paper, ink, etc. I'm trying to print from Photoshop CS5, if that's relevant at all.
This is what I am looking for:
    tons of options/setting to adjust
And this is what I have now:
    basically just print.
    Here's the driver info:
Is this something on Epson's end that hasn't been updated yet?
I've looked around, both here and online and haven't really got anywhere. If ANYONE can help, I will be very appreciative.
Oh, and I'm a first-timer so please be nice :0)

    Hi,
Welcome to Apple Discussions. I had the same problem with my Epson printer and solved it by going to Apple Support [here|http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4169]. You can rearrange your printer settings using CUPS from there. Also, click on the triangle to the right of the Printer Name window to get an expanded menu.
Good luck and a Merry Christmas.

  • How can I delete all printer settings?

This was not always the case, but I've been having problems lately getting good prints from a HP PhotoSmart Pro B9180 from my Mac Pro since I installed Photoshop CS5. The printing problems - washed-out colors, especially reds- also happened with older versions of Photoshop, so it may not be the app that's causing this. I uninstalled, then reinstalled the HP drivers but the uninstall didn't delete all the settings accumulated over several years of printing. After lots of lousy test prints using different settings, I decided to try printing from another Mac that has never used this printer before. The prints came out right when printed with Photoshop CS1, which has a simpler print dialog than the later versions. By CS5, it has so many variables that it was hard to figure out which settings are affecting the quality.
I also tried printing the same file from Preview to rule out Photoshop as the cause. It was somewhat better but not as good as the print from CS 1 on the laptop.
I'm just trying to start with a clean slate to eliminate some of the variables that may be causing the print quality problems.
Where is the file or files that contain the list of saved printer settings? I looked in the User Library and its Prefs folder but discarding the HP Printer prefs file didn't delete the settings.

It seems to me that you’re having problems concerning colour management/profiles. In that case I’m not of much help. But you can try to reset the printing system of OS X and afterwards install your printer driver again. To reset the printing system open System Preferences/Print & Fax and right-click somewhere on the white space underneath your listed printers.

  • How to change the paper type in printer settings?

Does anyone know how to change the paper type in printer settings?  I'm trying to have the ability to change it to photo paper from Photoshop Elements.  I can't find the option in printer settings or through Elements.  I'm assuming I could save an additional printer setting for photo printing, but can't find how to even select a different paper type.
    thanks!

It would help to know which OS you are running as the answer will be different if it's Lion or the previous OS's. You are not running iOS 5.0.1 on your MacBook Pro so provide the correct information.
