Printer sharing print test page

I purchased a new Dell Studio XP 8000 running Windows 7 and connected my HP Photosmart D7500 to the computer. My older Dell Dimension 2400 is running Windows XP Professional Ver. 2002 Ser.Pak 3. I networked two and can see the shared HP D7500 printer. When  I click print test page,  I receive a Test Page failed to print error. This also happens on my Toshiba wireless lap top. Please help

Thanks for all the help!

  • How do I keep my HP1510 All-in-one from printing so many test pages?

How do I keep my HP1510 All-in-one from printing so many test pages? My printer is connected to my laptop, and it seems that every time I disconnect, the printer wants to print an test page when I reboot. I don't know where the option is to turn this off.

The pages are likely alignment pages.  When a new cartrdige is installed the printer will print an alignment page that must be placed on the scanner glass and the Scan button pressed to complete the alignment process.  If the alignment is not completed it will repeat when the printer is turned on or perhaps at the end of print jobs.
The alignment page will stop printing when the alignment process has completed.  See the page here for information.

  • HP L7680 Printer Alignment Failing and only prints magenta on test pages

    Hi,
My printouts have been getting a little streaky so looked at the mataining printhead section in the manual. It says about how to clean the contacts and I followed this perfectly. I also took this opportunity to change all the ink cartridges after doing the suggested head clean before starting the process.
Now I keep getting the "alignment failed" error and when I print out a self test report it is only in magenta. Also the printout which happens at the end of alignment sequence only has magenta " N's " on it and nothing else.
When I print out a pdf page there is no black, but yellow and red colours are there.
I have reset the printer using the # with 6 and 9 and this does not help.
After each reset and alignment sequence the printer goes though various functions which takes about 15-20 each time and has used a lot of ink.... My brand new 88XL cartridges which cost about £75 are now less then half full and i've not even printed a proper page yet.
Can someone from HP please get in touch to tell me the solution before I waste any more ink.

  • Hp officejet pro k550 will not print a test page using control keys on the printer.

How do I print a test page to ensure that this printer is still operational?
I have tried all instructions for clearing the printer of possible jams, removed and reinserted the print heads, and cleaned the rollers.  When pressing the appropriate keys on the front of the printer, it will not print a test page.  and no error lights appear.
The printer has been connected to a different computer and ceased working last summer.  The printer would not respond to commands from the computer nor would it respond to keys on the front of the printer itself.  I can get the printhead to move using the controls on the front of the printer, however.  The printer is not currently connected to any computer and the nearest computer does not have the appropriate drivers installed.  Originally the printer was connected to a Dell desktop running Windows XP (sp 3).

  • HP 4500 Envy won't Queue Text Documents of Any Kind (but prints test pages and pictures)

I have a brand new HP 4500 Envy that was working fine for a few weeks and now won't print text documents of any kind - .txt, .doc, .pdf, you name it. I can print pictures and test pages but that's it. I've already tried the HP Print Doctor, updating the drivers and the like, but none of these solutions work. I need to get this up and running quickly - any suggestions? --- Thanks

    I have the same problem.
I think that it should be related with Windows 7 SP1.
I installed on 2 different laptops, one with Windows 7 and one with Windows 8 and there I can print all kind of type documents.
But on my HP 1120 can I not print any document, only jpeg and scan works.
And here I have Windows 7 SP.

I don't do a great deal of printing, so I don't want to waste paper by having an extra page printed up evry time I want to just print up a couple of pages. Is there a way to disable this test page at startup?

  • OfficeJet Pro 8500A won't print test page

This printer suddenly won't print, even a test page.   When I try to print from another program I get an error message, document gets stuck in print que.  Wireless is recognized.  Scan Doctor found printer, still it won't print.  Suggestions?

    Hi
The problem seems to be with the  print spooler service.
since you have already tried the print scan doctor
we can try doing it  manually.
Firstly Determine whether the printer is paused or offline
Return to the Devices and printers folder that you opened earlier in this document.
Right-click the name of the product, and then click See what's printing .
    Click Printer .
On the print queue menu bar, click Printer , and then look for the Pause Printing and Use Printer Offline items in the menu.
Make sure that there is no checkmark next to either item. If a checkmark displays next to either item, click to clear it.
If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , continue to the next solution
    Manually clear the print queue
Return to the Devices and printers folder that you opened earlier in this document.
Right-click the name of the product, and then click See what's printing .
Click Printer , and then click Cancel All Documents .
Click Yes to confirm the action.
If documents remain in the print queue, restart the computer.
    Try printing again.
If these steps resolved the issue , you do not need to continue troubleshooting.
If the issue persists , continue to the next solution.
    Restart the Print Spooler device
On the Windows taskbar, click the Windows icon ( ), type admin in the Search programs and files box, and then click Administrative Tools .
    Double-click Services .
    Right-click Print Spooler .
Click Stop to stop the Print Spooler.
Click Start to restart the Print Spooler.
    Restart the computer.
    Try the print job again

  • Win 7 (64-bit) DJ 812C only prints test page

Windows 7 (64-bit) driver for HP 812C installed; Word and e-mail print attempts result in printing only the test page.  Holding Power-On switch and pressing formfeed four times resulted in a good print-out that, among other things, mentioned an error code of 90020103.  Print cartridges appear to be functioning properly.  When document is printed from Word or e-mail, only the test page will print.  Are error codes available anywhere?  Printer setting descriptions?  Spooling problems?  Thank you for any suggestions you may be able to offer.  My search continues.

There is an issue with the Deskjet 812c on 64 bit Vista and Windows 7 systems.  You will need to apply the patch here.

  • Stop print test page for HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 1515 All-in-One Printer

    Hello JoshSimon ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer printing off a test page before printing.
If you are shutting the printer off at the end of the day, please don't.  Turning the printer on and off will result in it printing off a test page.  If you are concerned about the printer wasting power and this is why you are shutting down, the unit actually has a built in sleep/stand by mode that will kick in when the printer is not being used.
Once a print job is sent to the printer it will then wake up and do the task at hand.
Also, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

  • Printer sharing is not working anymore!  Any clue as to why?

I recently switched to Lion.  I have a network consisting of a Mac Mini and  a Macbook Pro. I have a Canon Imageclass MF4350d I'm not sure if it is related to Lion but I don't think so as the printer sharing feature was working well for a day after installing it.  At a certain point, my Mac Mini (server) went down and we had to repair the drive, which included repairing permissions.  At this point I had to plug my Macbook Pro directly into the printer which worked fine after downloading the driver.  I assume this would not affect anythign but just including it in case.  I also installed a new router during this time.  Lots of changes at once, not good!  Anyway, after this, I attempted to print with printer sharing (printer sharing is turned on) permissions set to everyone  and it didn't work.  The Macbook Pro is able to see the shared printer, is able to share files through file sharing on the Mac Mini yet when I try to print nothing comes out and eventually I get an error message saying it was not able to connect to the printer.   Initially, the Mac Mini would not even print, but I reset the printer system, reinstalled the driver and got it working to print through USB.  However this did not resolve the printer sharing issue.  I have reset both printer systems multiple times, and  reinstalled the driver on both machines.  Still the same message, basically the Mac Mini now prints, however the Macbook Pro can't share the printer.  It used to work very smoothly.   Any clue as to why this could be happening?  Any suggestions very appreciated!!!

I cleaned out my macbook a few nights ago to make it fresh for summer.
What did you clean and how did you clean?
If you used a kind of spring-cleaning app, it may have been too eager and cleaned necessary caches where the Photo Stream is living on your Mac.
If the photos that have been downloaded from the Photo Stream are still on your Mac, you should be able to find them in  cryptically named subfolders in the iLifeAssetManagement folder in your user library
    /Users/your short user name/Library/Application Support/iLifeAssetManagement/assets/
Are there still photos there? Then make a backup copy of the photos, before they will vanish.

  • Laserjet 4L, win 7, will only print test page(s)

When I try to print anything else,  I get an error, with no particular message. The documents will just remain in the queue until I delete them. Right after installing, when I would try to print a doc, I would get an error message with options to troubleshoot . That error message said something about the printer being shared. It is not, so I changed that setting. Now when I try to print , the document will remain in the queue with a ! under status. When I try to print manually by pressing the button on the printer, I only get test pages.  Also, when I open up printers/devices, there is a ! inside of a yellow caution triangle on the picture of the printer. Any ideas?
Edit: I found a suggestion to hold the button for 5 secs to reset printer. I did it, and the ! in the caution sign is now a green check mark. But, still get an error message in print queue.

  • HP Deskjet F4280 - can print test page but nothing else on new Windows 7 laptop on home network

I hope you can help me.  I have an HP Deskjet F4280 set up on my desktop computer running Windows Vista Home Premium 64x.  I've also got a home network on a D-Link Wireless N router.
My new laptop is a Toshiba with Windows 7.  I can connect to the network no problem and can add the printer (attached to my desktop via USB) and can print the test page.  My problem is that I can't print any other documents.  When I check the print queue all it says is "spooling" and then after a few seconds the job just disappers from the queue.
I connected the printer directly to the laptop and dowloaded the drivers for Windows 7 and it works fine. I've uninstalled and reinstalled all software on both computers.  I've spent hours trying different solutions I've found on this web-site and others...and nothing works!  I am very frustrated to say the least.
Is there any way you can help me???

    Hi Lisamcgack,
Print sharing is a Microsoft supported application. Since the printer is working on the computers independently. Then this would be an issue between the operating systems. Check out the following Microsoft document on print sharing.

  • Hp all-in One remote prints test page but cannot find printer for anything else

The HP All-in-One application can print test pages on my 8610 but when I go to any document or photo and try to print I get the following message "This Printer is not available." I have checked and have the latest version of the HP All-in-one Printer Remote application and the HP Print Service Plugin applications from the Google Play store. I am using a Samsung Galaxy 5 running Android 5.0. If I print a page from my laptop using wireless to this printer, I can see the All-in-One application tracking my printer status so I know it can see the printer.  The app on the phone will show the status under the printer name going from Ready to Unavailable to Ready as a document is printed and then finished. I am printing directly with local WIFI and am not using the ePrint feature.

Hello , Welcome to the HP Forums!
I hope you have a pleasant experience here. I'd like to help you with the issues you are having printing from your Samsung Galaxy S5 to your HP Officejet Pro 8610 e-All-in-One printer. Firstly, do you have the printer plugged directly into a wall outlet? The printer has a power moderator built in, so if it is plugged into a power surge bar or battery backup it may be getting inconsistent power. This can cause all kinds of firmware glitches (like the printer status not being broadcast properly). If that doesn't immediately resolve the issue, please follow the steps below: Network Power Reset: Let's leave the router on and unplug the power cable (NOTE: Do not reset the router.), then do the same with the printer, and shut down the computer. After a full minute, plug the router back in, wait for it to fully power up, then plug the printer back in and wait for the wireless light to become solid. Once both the router and printer are on, go ahead and turn the computer back on. Doing this will refresh the network connection. Restore Network Defaults and Reconnect:  1. On the front panel of the printer, touch your wireless icon at the top2. Select Settings.3. Select Restore Network Defaults.4. Restart your printer.5. Once it's booted back up, touch the wireless icon again.6. Select Settings.7. Select Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to enter your wireless network details.8. Try enabling the web services again. Another thing I would suggest, would be to download the HP ePrint app, rather than the All-in-One Remote. The Remote is moreso suited for scanning to your phone from your product, so I would suggest trying the ePrint app (you can download it from the Play Store). If the issue persists after these steps, please answer the following questions so I'm better able to assist: Are you able to print reliably from any other devices on your network? What brand and model of router are you using? What is it that you are trying to print? (ie. E-mail, photo, document)What app are you printing from? (Some Android apps have a direct printing feature)I look forward to hearing back from you and working towards a resolution to this issue!Have a great weekend.

  • I pad does not find my AirPrint printer even though it prints the printer test page okay

My XP 400 Epson AirPrint printer is installed on my I Pad 2.  The I pad requested that a test page be printed after printer installed and the printer printed the test page. When I want to print a web page or a text document the I pad cannot find an AirPrint printer.  What can be done to correct this error.

    Dick-
The XP-400 is listed on Apple's list of AirPrint printers, so it should work as soon as you pair it with your WiFi.  No other printer installation is involved.  I assume your XP-400 has the latest updates from Epson.
Are you using an Epson printing App, by any chance?  The Epson printing App does not use AirPrint, it uses the printer's native printing language.  Other Apps on the iPad can not print via the Epson App.
In other words, something else is keeping your iPad from seeing the printer.  One cause might be that your WiFi router does not correctly handle Bonjour data required by AirPrint.  If that is your problem, contact the router's manufacturer to see if there is a change in its setup or a firmware update that will solve the problem.
