Printer showing not connected

My  HP photosmart 7520 series printer has been fine for 8 months now in control panel it shows NOT CONNECTED but it still prints and scans fine. The printer panel shows it connected to network and the the network map in Norton shows it connected and online. Scan doctor says everything is fine. Help

Hello agroves,
Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer showing that it is not connected when in the control panel,
I do have a couple suggestions for you to try in the attempt to troubleshoot this issue.
First off, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
The other step is to disable the Norton anti virus protection and then reboot the computer.  Once the computer is back on, check the control panel and see if it still reads that it is not connected.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.
Thanks for your time.

  • Officejet Pro 8000 wireless printer is "not connected."

My Office Jet worked like a dream until I had to change my network settings, specifically my wireless network password.  I reconfigured the printer with the new password, but now whenever I try to print, I get an error message saying the printer is 'not connected.'  If I connect via USB cable, it works fine.
The network configuration printout shows that the printer is connected to the wireless network and the diagnostics (wireless on, wireless working, etc) all read PASS.
    I am using a MacBook.
    Help?

try this on the touchscreen of your printer ...
    - go to "Setup"
    - select "Network"
    - make sure the "Wireless Direct" feature is enabled

  • My photo smart 5500 is showing not connected but is!

Have tried everything suggested, run all tests and shows wifi connection as 4 out of 5 , printed from iPad with no problem but still shows not connected in eprint centre...have tried removing and re adding, turning on/of etc any ideas...have three pictures waiting in print queue !

Very good then, here are the instructions to start scratch.  I promise, if everything like the website and printer are working correctly, the whole process should take 10-15 minutes and hopefully not all day. I really hope this helps make everything communicate perfectly again.  The reason I am going to have you remove web services is because it seems the email is what is messing up.  Web services has nothing else to do with Airprint or "knocking the printer off the network" so-to-speak.  I just want to get eprintcenter.com to show connected and for you to be able to use your ePrint functionality to the fullest.
Starting at the printer, press the ePrint button and go into your ePrint settings.  Follow the prompts to remove web services and the printer returns back to the main printer screen.  Press the ePrint button again to enable it again.  It will ask you about auto-updating and if you want to enable web services, so you will definitely want to allow for all of this in order for this to work.  Within two minutes, a new page will print off that will have a printer code on it.  This means your previous email is gone.  If your printer gets stuck on the "Downloading from Web" screen through this process, it is okay to just turn the printer off and back on again.
Go to www.eprintcenter.com and sign in with your personal email address (which I know you know but some others may not). You may see your printer here and now it is definitely not connected so click the Red X to remove it from here.  Chances are you will see an option to enter in a printer code but if you do not, then look for the words "Add Printer."  It will either be a tab or a blue box in the same area where you clicked "Sign In,"
Enter in your new printer code and customize the printer's email address. I would always tell people to leave the ability for everyone to send to your printer open for now.  Only give the customized email to people you trust and never type it in a marketing website and you will not have anything to worry about.  After you click the last "Save" button, if you see "Not Connected" click the gray "Refresh" button and it should say "Connected and Ready" now.
Let me know Wednesday how it goes and if it still says not connected, I will walk you through setting a static IP for the printer from the embedded web server but I really think this will work.
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

  • Printer suddenly "not connected" according to computer, but configuration report says "connected"

Our computer has always worked fine on our wireless network. Suddenly, though, we are unable to print. The status of the computer shows as Idle, with a green light, in System Preferences (Mac OSX). However, when I try to print something, I get the status "The Printer is Not Connected". We printed a HP Network Configuration Page from the printer; it states that it is connected to our Wi-fi network. We have tried unplugging it and then plugging it back in and restarting.
    Any other ideas?

    Hi @W1984,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
For further assistance, I will need to know some further information:

  • UCCX 10.5 Real Time Report shows "Not Connected"

    Hi,
    UCCX 10.5 HA over LAN.
As per the title, RTR shows Not connected for both nodes and no data shown for all reports. all services are In service in both nodes.
    Any Ideas?
    Regards.

    Hi Mohamed,
Are you accessing this via the IE or FF? If so which version?
The Real time reporting on UCCX connects to the RMI port 6999 to pull the information on the Engine. If there are no port blockages or if there are no issues with the browsers, then it is a problem with the configuration files in root holding this information which needs in depth analysis.
A restart of the Engine also should help. I know that everything is IN SERVICE, but I have noticed a lot of issues on UCCX 10.5 when there are stuck calls on the system, it impacts RTR with the midnight stats reset.
The reset of the Engine is bound to clear all the stuck calls in the system and this may be a side effect of the stuck calls on the system especially if the RTR was working before you noticed the problems.
    Regards,

    Hello jbsarts,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with a connection error.
I have also located a document that deals with A 'No Computer Detected' or 'Connection Error' Message Displays during Scanning.  The document may have "Scanning" in the Title, but it will troubleshoot the issue just the same.

  • How can I fix my MacBook Pro losing wireless connectivity with Epson Stylus NX625 printer.  It will work once and then I get an error saying the printer is not connected.

I can connect to my Epson Stylus NX625 through my wireless network and print a page or two, but then the next time I go to print it says that the printer is not connected.  Any fixes?  I have tried deleting the printer and re-adding it to my MacBook Pro OS X version 10.9.4, but sometimes it doesn't even find it, and other times it says it is connected, but when I go to print it says not connected.  Very frustrated.  I have also installed the latest drivers, etc.
    What now?

Your computer is going to run hot while playing CPU/GPU intensive games - it should heat up and the fans should be noticably loud. As to why it's 'crashing' - can you post a kernel panic log? You may have some third-party kexts that are causing the problems.

  • Officejet 6700 error while searching for updates: 'Printer could not connect to server'

I recently purchase the Officejet 6700 Premium. While setting the printer up, I received the error 'The printer could not connect to the server.' I first received this while the printer was searching for updates. I later received the same error while trying to set up ePrint from my computer.
The printer is connected through my wireless router. All other print services function normally. It is connected to the network, and I have printed several times over the wireless network.
Though I don't think it matters, since the on-board print set-up gave me the error, I run Windows 7 64-bit on my computer.
    Thanks for any help!

What is the IP address of the printer?  What is the make and model of the router that you use in the wireless set up? Is the router firmware up to date?
I would first try power cycling the router and the printer. Turn off/unplug the router and then power down the printer. Then plug the router back in and wait for it to be fully up and functioning before turning the printer back on.  After you have both pieces of equipment back on and functioning attempt to connect to web services again.
If still having problems I would attempt to set a static DNS on the printer through the embedded web server (EWS) by entering the printer's IP address into the address bar of  a browser on a computer.
Once that computer displays that page click on the Network tab.
Then look in the column to the left and find the Wireless section
    Click on IPv4
Then on that page look at the 2nd section that is labeled DNS Address configuration
Change the radio button to the manual option
Then for the manual preferred fill it out and make sure it reads 8.8.8.8
Secondary should be set to 8.8.4.4
    Then hit Apply
Read the next screen carefully. That message with the "OK" button below it  is one that states to click that button to undo the changes you  just made.  Just navigate away from that page by clicking on another tab.
Then reattempt to connect to web services.

  • What do I do when I get the message my printer is not connected? HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One

What do I do when I get the message my printer is not connected when I want to print wirelessly.? HP Officejet Pro 8500A e-All-in-One.  I have a macintosh computer using snow leopard.  I have used the printer for 6 months.  Nothing has changed.  I shut off the printer and turned it on.  The internet is working altough I will turn it off and on.  What do I do next?  Thank you.

The easiest and fastest thing for you is to reset the printer to its defaults and then just install the printer again following the instructions in the manual when you received it.  If you don't have these you will find this on the HP web site.

  • Can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 Wireless Printer with the AirPort Extreme Base. The printer is NOT connected at the USB port of the AirPort Extreme, and is placed in another room. It worked just fine with my previous router (Linksys WRT54G). Help me!

    Hey Guys!
I just got my AirPort Extreme Base, but I can't use my HP Deskjet F4580 wireless printer with it.
The printer is not connected to the AirPort Extreme's USB port. It is placed in another room, and I'd like to use it (the printer) wirelessly (not connected to the USB port os the AirPort Extreme), as I used to. There is no place for the printer close the AirPort Extreme. It worked just fine with my previous wireless router (Linksys WRT54G). I'm very disappointed with the AirPort Extreme Base Station because of that!...
    Can you help me? Please?!
    Thanks Folks!

  • Gnome 3 reports a network printer as "not connected",but prints fine

    Hi,
I got the same problem mentioned here as "Other issue": https://bbs.archlinux.org/viewtopic.php?id=119248
When I print on my network printer it always says "printer is not connected" at first (popup in gnome shell) but then it prints fine.
I think it has something to do with CUPS or some settings of the network card (inside the Kyocera FS-1020D) -> I have disabled the whole apple things like Bonjour etcpp.
In the mentioned thread there are several perople reporting this issue - did anyone solve it?

bones wrote:No such warning when I logged into other desktop environments.
That's intresting .. maybe it is a gnome bug? I am also using Gnome 3.2.

i have a mac os x snow leopard. my problem is that when i go to the ethernet settings it shows 'not connected'. i called the internet person even he couldn't fix it PLEASE HELP!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

System Preferences > Network > Ethernet? If that shows "not connected" that is all your Mac knows. As far as it is concerned there is no cable connected to the port on your Mac, or the other end of the cable is either disconnected or connected to something that is broken.
Try another cable. If the cable is broken you will also get that status message. If you have exhausted all of these possibilities, the only remaining cause is an inoperative port on your Mac.
