My iPhone 4s is recognized by itunes and iphoto however it does not show up in finder under devices.

I don't agree - I have two IMacs and two iPhones - the iPhone 4S show up on one machine, but not the other.  They do show that they are charging, and a memory stick will open on the same USB ports.  So, I don't think this is how they are "supposed to work"......

  • Why DVDs/Hard Drives not showing up under 'Devices' in Finder

    Hi,
I do not see anything in the 'Devices' section of the Finder. If I used iTunes, I can see the contents of the DVD. Any advice?

    Hi n,
Click on the desktop > Finder menu > Preferences > Sidebar > choose which items you want to show up in the Sidebar.

  • Macbook sold but still showing under my devices in Find my phone

I sold my macbook about 3 years ago and from recollection re imaged it before sale and named it after the new buyer. I have noticed recently that it is still listed under my devices in iCloud/find my phone. I no longer have the buyers details so cannot liaise with him to resolve the issue. Anyy ideas or should I call Apple Support.

    Find My iPhone Activation Lock
You should be able to remove it from tracking and disable Find My Mac using your @icloud.com web page.

  • Network devices not showing up under "shared" in finder bar

Ok so i have a network that consists of a maxtor nas device, 2 win xp pc's, 1 win7 pc, d-link 524 router, and my macbook pro. I would like to be able to transfer files between my mac and the devices and use the printer attached to my maxtor. My issue is that none of the computers show up under the "shared" section of finder or under network. I use to have this issue with leopard but it resolved itself. Now under snow leopard for a couple months and i have yet to get it work. I can access my mac and other pcs from a pc. Anyone know how to get my network to show up on my mac?

Your problem is very common under Snow. At first my shares did not show up under shared in finder windows. I, then, of course, used "Connect to Server" to connect to the shares--both Mac and PC. I found that the more I kept the shares active the more likely they were show up under shared. Then, I discovered that if I kept the computers from sleeping during the period of needed access they would tend to stay in shared without nearly so much keeping the connections active.
If you do not like the above work around, then there are two other possibilities. You can elect to show mounted items on your desktop. Do that and connect to each share. Then, go > users > unlock > + login options > try dragging the mounted shares to the login item window. If successful, then the shares should be available at login.
Another approach is to mount and connect as indicated above. Then, making an alias to the share should at least make things faster.

Hi luke, I tried your script. However, it seems that once in a while srvnet crashes during the restart. Can you help me on this? Chris
    Hi Chris
Not sure why that would be but - you could add some error-checking logic to the script to test whether srvnet has successfully started, and then if it hasn't - attempt to restart it again. I haven't tested this code because I haven't had that issue, but something
    along the lines of:
    @echo off
    set logfile="%TMP%\srvlog.txt"
    if exist %logfile% goto begin
    echo [%date:~4,10% %time%] logfile created>%logfile%

    set /A cnt+=1
echo [%date:~4,10% %time%] **waiting for SRV service to start [%cnt%]**>>%logfile%
    sc start srv >NUL 2>&1

    Hi,
PSC 1315 no longer supported for scanning since Mac OS X v10.5 or while using any newer OS, there is no scan software provided by either HP or Apple (Image Capture)
You may find this information stated below for Leopard, the same apply for any newer OS version:
    http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?docname=c01234231&cc=us&dlc=en&lc=en &os=219&product=374568&sw_lang=
Image capture will not recognize your device as well, only print is supported as you may find listed for teh PSC 1310 Series below:
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3669#HP
Although there is no official scanning support for your device you may still try the 3rd party VueScan software which list your scanner as supported and compatible with Mountain Lion:

  • IPhone isn't showing up in My Devices on "Find my iPhone" page

I recently lost my iPhone 4 at an airport (or on the plane). When I first got the phone, I installed the Find my Phone app connected through MobileMe, though I don't think it was installed at the time of losing it. Fast forward to now...
I've logged into Find my Phone (now hosted on icloud.com) and I can see my iPad listed under the "My Devices", but not my iPhone. The battery is now dead as I've called it, but shouldn't it still show up in the My Devices list on the Find my iPhone page?
I'm wondering, if my iPhone doesn't show up in My Devices on Find my iPhone, does that mean it has been wiped?

Thanks, Winston. I thought I'd done that, but as that sounds like a post-iOS5 update thing, I probably didn't. The funny thing is, I don't remember doing ANY of this for my iPad, yet, that device still shows up under My Devices on the Find page. Hmm...

Hi all, im from dubai. someone stolen my iphone5. i was trying to erase my data via find my iphone. in the end there was a notification that remove. i have click remove. then it never shows my device in find my iphone. how can i see my device in my pc...?

Here's an interesting bit: iTunes will let me restore my iPod touch from backup: it's still running iOS 4.3.3. I figured as much... there's backups showing in the Preferences -> Devices list for both devices (and even my old, long gone iPod touch 2G), but my iPhone (on iOS5) isn't giving me any such option. I remember I had to downgrade before to get the backup restored (something went haywire in the setup assistant, and I couldn't restore a backup from iTunes there)... If it was possible to go to iOS 5.0 rather than 5.0.1 I would just do the same thing again, but iOS 5.0.1 isn't an option. I attached a screenshot. Hopefully Apple can get this nonsense sorted out; I think iOS 5 might be the root of this, somehow.

  • Show digital camera as device in finder

How can I show my digital camera as a drive under devices in the finder. When I plug in my camera it opens iPhoto but I want to access the files without going through iPhoto. My camera is a Canon PowerShot SD1100. I checked the menus for a manual option but I couldn't find one.

    William Boyd, Jr. wrote:
If you're referring to a camera menu option, I wouldn't expect to see one that would affect this.
I would totally expect this on any camera, except a Canon.
On many brands of digital cameras, there is a menu item that lets you choose USB Mass Storage mode. If the camera can be put in this mode, it can show up on the Mac Finder desktop as a volume. Canon cameras are interesting in that they generally do not support USB Mass Storage mode and so there is no way you can mount them directly on the Mac desktop. Nikons and others can do it, though.
This is not a big problem because there are so many other ways to get pics off of a Canon. You can use a card reader. You can use iPhoto or Apple Image Capture in your Utilities folder. You can use the Canon software that you install from the CD that came with the camera. You can use any number of other apps like Aperture, Lightroom, etc. that recognize Canon cameras. You just can't mount them as a disk.

  • Mac won't show device in finder

Can't get mp3 player to show on desktop or in Finder when plugged into USB port - help?

Sorry, but "'old' Memorex mp3" means practically nothing.
but can't get it to show up as a device on MacPro.
If Finder prefs are set correctly (as sanjampet indicated), and if it's in MSC mode, then it should show. If it doesn't, then there may be a problem with the device, or with the USB port. Keep in mind that this forum is dedicated to the MacBook Pro, which is an entirely different computer from the Mac Pro.

  • Printer shows up multiple times in my device list

I have an EA4500 router running firmware version 2.1.39.145204.  A device, which I assume is my HP printer, shows up on my device list multiple times (11).  This is illustrated below with the devices status report from the "Troubleshooting" tab of my Smart Wi-Fi interface.  The device listed as "Photosmart Premium C309g-m" is indeed my printer.  The MAC address listed agrees with the set-up information in my printer and it is correctly listed as connected via wi-fi.  There is no hard wire connection from the printer to the network..  As you can see, there is a bunch of other devices listed all with the same name.  These devices have the same IP address as my printer but different MAC addresses.   My questions are:
    1. What causes this situation?
    2. How do I fix it?  By this I mean, how do I remove the multiple listings?
Thank you in advance for your help.

Hi sgtpepperlhcb2! Duplicate MAC and IP addresses in the DHCP list can be an indication of a possible firmware problem. I suggest you upgrade the router's firmware. Reset and reconfigure the router if the firmware upgrade will not work.

What does it mean when a lost iPhone stops showing up in device list on find iPhone app?

    That means:
    The battery is dead
The phone has been turned off
The phone is no longer connected to the cellular network or a WiFi network
The Find my iPhone service has been turned off
    The phone has been wiped.
The bottom line is, it means you're probably never going to be able to locate it unless you can physically find it.
