Printer Software Not Opening

I am having trouble opening the printer assistant window for my hp deskjet 1000 j110a printer. I need this in order to check ink levels and such. 
I tried double clicking the short cut, but it didn't work. the timer came on the cursor, but no window opened. 
restarting didnt work. 
so i tried looking for it in the control panel under hardware and sound and clicked view devices and printer, which brought me to a list of printers. i double clicked the one i am using
i double clicked printer assistant, and nothing happens, just like i tried with the shortcut. 
i also uninstalled it (twice) from the control panel (and in printers and devices by right clicking and remove device). and reinstalled it from the disk and from this website: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?os=4158&lc=en&cc=us&dlc=en&sw_lang=&product=4066...

the thing is - im having printer quality issues. the hp support site says:
Right-click the Start button ( ) in the lower left corner of the screen, and then click Search .
Type HP in the search box.
Click your printer ( ). The printer software opens.
yeah.... the software DOESNT open when i click it! so i cant fix the problem.
im ready to throw this printer in the trash, which is a shame because i only bought it a year ago.
Someone please help.

Please try installing the patch below, I believe that should get the issue resolve (although it describe a different scenario it should apply for the described behavior as well):

  • Printer Software not Working for Windows 8.1 and Drivers not Working with USB 3.0

    We have a HP CM1312 MFP. We recently got two new windows 8.1 machines. We tried downloading and installing the windows 8 64 bit software, but everytime we tried installing the software the software program would exit abruptly. 
    We then tried just downloading the printer drivers and installing these. They installed ok, but when we tried to connect the printer via USB it said the printer did not support USB 3.0 which are the only ports we have on the new computers. 
    Is there a solution to either of these problems? Without the software we cannot use the fax or scanner.

  • Print preview not opening with File Print command in CS4

    I have been printing fine until recently, but now when I choose file > print in Photoshop the print preview pane does not open. The menus gray out, but that's it. If I select print from other programs (I checked Preview and Acrobat) the print dialog appears. I am working with CS4 11.0.2. on OSX version 10.6.8, printing with an Epson 2200. I tried deleting and re-adding the printer. I haven't installed anything new recently that might interfere.
    Your help would be much appreciated!

    Try a different printer driver to see if this has anythign to do with the .ppd used by epson 2200, try even adoeb pdf.
    Reset your preferences.
    Cmd-Opt-Ctrl-Shift when restarting AI on a Mac  to reset to the defaults.

  • Camera software not opening to transfer images from camera to computer. What to do?

    My PowerShot 720is software ZoomBrowser EX not opening on computer. No images load and I don't have option to click on "connect to camera" so I can transfer images from camera to computer. Message says "Zb Module has stopped working. Windows is looking for a solution to this problem." Anyone have this happen and know what to do?

    If you haven't already done so, please update your software for Windows 7.  Here's how.
    Just click here to access the software updates for your camera.  Once there, just enter your operating system, then the version of the operating system.  Now click on "Software" to show the software updates.
    Click on "ZoomBrowser EX 6.9.0a Updater".  Installation instructions are on the next page.  Also, please download "CameraWindow "DC 8.8 for Windows" to your desktop.
    After accepting the required disclaimer, please download the program update to your desktop.
    After downloading all the software you choose to install, please install ZoomBrowser last. This will allow it to link to the other Canon software on your computer.
    Since you've installed an older version of software, you may now double-click on the program update to install it.  If not, just put the CD-ROM in your computer's optical drive and stop any installation program that starts.

  • Print Dialog not opened -Smartform

    Hi Experts
                We have defined a output type and assigned a smartform for Invoice.
               The problem is we have included 60 billing items into a single billing document.
               So, when we try VF02 and the Issue output type, it opens the window and select the output type then give the print preview, the print dialog window is not opened.
               when i try it debug mode, the RV_MESSAGE_DIALOG fm returns the value(4) as  OTHERS.
                 So it leaves the transaction, how to solve this problem, what could be the reason actually. Its most urgent, pls anyone help me.

  • Mavericks 10.9.1. Printer software not upgrading

    This is just an addition to my earlier question regarding HP Driver software not upgrading through Software Update. I am aware that I can also scan through Preview & Image Capture.
    I find that the scanning through Preview & Image Capture is a little faster but still not at par at what it was with the MBA.

    Have you tried looking at the HP web site for a new driver?

    I recently did a clean sweep of my computer using MacKeeper, to clean my caches, junk and duplicate files, now my programs like iCal, IChat, Mail, Address Book are not opening up when I click on them, is there a remedy for this without re-installing snow leopard?

    Some "clean sweep." Try running the 10.6.4 combo updater and see if that helps. Repair permissions before and after.

  • Epson printer software not recognised after OS upgrade to 10.6.8

    A few months ago I upgraded my system to OS X 10.6.8. Yesterday, I tried to use my Epson Stylus Pro 3800 inkjet printer fro the first time since the upgrade, but wasn't too surprised when I got an error message saying I needed to install software. I found the latest driver software for the 3800 on the Epson (USA) site, dated 5/3/13 and installed it. After re-booting, I tried again to print with the 3800, only to get the same error message: "You need to install software to use this printer. To install the softweare, choose Software Update from the Apple menu. If the software for yor printer isn't available in Software Update, contact the manufacturer of your printer".
    Well, there is nothing relevant at all listed under"Software Update", and I reckon I have already carried out the second suggestion by downloading the latest Epson driver. Can anybody help? I depend on the 3800 for professional work, and certainly can't afford to replace it...

    I removed all the existing Epson printer files from my computer.
    I also downloaded from the same Epson site Common Updater v.7.0. Once this was installed, a new and different error appeared:

    Must be a faulty installation... Uninstall the app from your app manager and check for updates via software updater of your phone. Back up your phone just in case you're not furnished with the update. Its been long since Anna came out and am not sure whether its still in the Nokia servers or not. Someone with info can clarify.

  • Manual double-sid​ded printing does not open the resume printing box to print the second side.

    HP Deskjet D 4160 using Windows 7 64bit.  No error message but a yellow triamgle shows next to the printer in the devices and printers page.  No changes were made.  It worked yesterday, I locked the computer to go home, I unlocked it today and this problem manifested itself.  I tried installing updated software but it does not appear to have worked.  I try removing the device driversw but it says they cannot be removed because they are being used by the printer.  I remooved the printer and still get the same results.

    Unplug the power cord from the printer. Leave out for 30 seconds, and plug it back in. This is called a HARD RESET.

  • Creative cloud software not opening up and installer is greyed out?

    My Creative Cloud software is not loading up and the desktop installer is hanging and appears greyed out at the top of the screen. Can't get through on the phone or the chat line.

  • Firefox will not open new window for websites that require it

    I am running Firefox 3.6.16 on Windows XP.
    For some time now, certain websites will just not work - for instance, when I use Mapquest, it used to open the new window when I clicked on "print" - that no longer happens.
    Today, I was trying to use the eScrip online mall, and when I clicked on the store name, it did not open a new window - this was working fine back in December when I was doing my online shopping.
    My suspicion is the new version has some kind of problem. does anyone have a solution for this?

    I use MapQuest a lot but haven't used the PRINT option for a while. I just tried it and you are right, the PRINT does not open any window or even work. But if you change it to the NEW MapQuest, the PRINT function will work. I guess MapQuest has disabled the PRINT option in their CLASSIC version. Maybe they are trying to encourage users to use their NEW version instead.
    If you still want to use the CLASSIC version, you can always copy the map and paste it onto a Image Editor program and print from there.
