Printer Spreads to single pages

Hello. I am a digital printer and am having an issue with printer spreds. I have customer who keeps submitting a booklet they need printed in printer spreds. However that is basically usless for me since I have a digital press with impostion software( xerox 700, fiery 8 and command workstation 5). I need this file in single page format. Is there any way to do that in acrobat x pro or indesign cs6. Normally I would tell the customer to resubmit it but there are too many time constraints this time( par for the course). Any help would be appreciated

Thanks Peter I appreciate it. You are exactly right. When I extract the pages the covers are sing 8.5x11 but the body pages are all 11x17(two pages on one sheet). Your solution of placeing the documents twice in indesign and just using the bounding box to crop out the uneccessary page seems to be the best way to go about it. Luckily the pamplet is only 8 pages long. I would have been up a creek  had it had a lot of pages.

  • Is it possible to print a spread as single pages?

The file was created in InDesign CS5 and has to be saved as a .pdf. I want to view all of the spreads in the .pdf, but actually print them as single pages.

If the pages are exported to PDF as spreads, that's how they are going to print. You can export as single pages and set the initial view in Acrobat Pro so the file opens as spreads, with a single cover page if needed, but it won't look exactly the same as a true spread and it won't stop a user from changing the view.
Personally, I hate PDFs exported as spreads because they're really hard to navigate (same for two-column text meant to be read on screen).

  • Spreads and single pages export to pdf

    Hi
I have a document that is laid out as spreads 2 a4's next to each other. ie the back page is shown as the first with the front page as page 2.
I need to export for both single page pdf electronic copy (ie front cover currently page 2 as page 1 of the pdf.)
I also need to export the file as a printable spread. Back page as page 1 of pdf.
This is all doable at the moment except when i export the single page electronic pdf (uncheck spread in the export options) it gives me the last page as the first of the pdf. Is there a way i can reorder these to make what is currently page 1 as the last.
    hope this makes sense.
    thanks Job

When you say "printable spreads" I take it you don't mean imposed into the correct order for binding, but just reader's spreads printed onto a single sheet for proofing or something similar.
Some additional details about how you use these spreads would be useful.

  • PDF Spreads to Single Pages, and specify view options

I have a large InDesign document set up in 8.5 x 11 spreads. I need to export to PDF as single pages but also specify the page view as "fit to page."
If I use the Print options I can get the single pages, but can't seem to specify the page view.  If I use the Interactive options I can specify the page view, but everything exports as spreads instead of single pages.
    Am I missing something here?

Maybe I spoke too soon.  The script solved the problem of the spreads, but it created another one.  Now, when I use the "Interactive PDF" dialog box and specify the page view, none of the page links in the index work.  They are there, the cursor becomes a "hand" when hovering over the page numbers, but when I click it doesn't go anywhere.  If I use the "PDF to Print" dialog box and check the Hyperlink box, the links all work, but I don't get to specify the page view.
The script apparently does something to the page identification so the link doesn't carry forward properly from the individual book documents to the new single PDF that is created
BTW, I'm using InDesign 7.04 on a 2.8 GHz Intel Core i5 iMac running 10.6.8, with 12GB of memory.
Color me frustrated. My job deadline is tomorrow, and I thought I was on target to meet that with no problem. After laying out 2000+ pages, I thought the PDF would be a simple no-brainer, but it seems to be the show-stopper.

  • Why can't I Print just a single page of a document, before this printer I could select to pint 1 pg

Everytime I print a doc, I can select to print a single page but right after that selection an HP print window opens and the only option is Start Printing or Cancle Printers. The upper border of the popup says " HP Officejet 6500 "

Thanks BDAqua. It seems so silly that it's so easy in other contexts, but it's good not to keep on trying something futile

  • Duplex printing switches to single page at a certain point in pdf file

    Hi everyone,
I have combined about ten separate pdf files into one complete pdf file for a client. The problem is that when they print the file using duplex printing, they're saying that at a particular point in the document it switches to single page printing instead of duplexing all the way through. It seems to be switching to this single page printing at the start of a particular section, ie. I mentioned that I had combined separate pdf files into the one document and it switches to the single pages where one of these separate documents start. I went back to the original Indesign file relating to this document and noticed that when I pdf this I can see the following in the range field that I assume is related to section numbering as the document contains sections:
    Range: +1-+12
The other pdfs that were used to create the combined file also have sections but the abovementioned numbering doesn't appear in the Range section like the problematic pdf I mentioned above.
Can someone tell me why the duplexing stops at this certain point? Does it have something to do with the section numbering as explained above? Also, I have tried to reproduce the issue from my end but mine is printing it perfectly well, i.e it duplexes all the way through, so could it be an issue with their printer or some setting they have? Or can I fix it somehow from my end by manipulating the original indesign file that has the sections?
    Really appreciate any help.

It's probably on their Printer setup. Sometimes if you set print for duplex then another Operator comes in and uses the same printer and assumes it's simplex printing it can print duplex or whatever the previous print setting was used.

  • Form printing in a single page

    Hi All,
We have developed a smartform , suppose in an internal table i am getting 3 records for these 3 records i am getting 3 pages in out . But i want to display these 3 pages in a single page.
My requriement is like this in a single page  i want to print 3 pages data . Please help me how to restrict the pages.
    Regards,
    Satyapalli.

Check your smartform, inside main window you will find command node, remove the command or un-check the tick box goto next page in your command.. it will solve your problem... now all data will be printed in single page, if it cannot fit single page then it goes to next page...
Close the thread once your question is answered.

  • Setting up new book with single pages but facing preview and breaking up pages at print time

I have a new book to design.  Last time on a similar project (with 100 pages) I had a massive cry at print time as the printer wanted single pages with bleeds. I had set up the book with facing pages.  When I unchecked to non facing pages I lost all my formatting and margins...   I spent hours fixing this up.... I do need to show double spreads to the client as we go along and I do want to work in a mode that shows both left and right next to each other (ie in a book format).  What do you suggest? I have been looking at setting up as single pages side by side and then at print time I think I can move all my right hand pages over with the break up page function and then fix up all my bleeds manually.? thanks in advance

    lisalip schrieb:
no my printer needs 5mm bleed all around for the books I am doing and wants single pages with crops and bleeds
I will check the link and hope ok
I do prefer to design with facing pages but as I said it was a nightmare for me last time when setting for print
You confuse single pages with non facing document.
Every page has to be its own page. When your document has facing pages you have to set up a document with facing pages. There is no way around. Otherwise you will have problems with the left and the right page number and a lot of other issues.
If the printer needs single pages you have to export your document as PDF with single pages. That means deactivate the spread option in the PDF export dialog.
    Here I have an example:
    Situation:
In the 2 spreads on the top you don't have a problem when you export to a single page PDF. The bleed is taking material from the opposite page. It is ok and not disturbing.
But the bottom spread is different. Here you see a design break. It would be disturbing, if you take material from the opposite page. In many cases you would not realize it, but there are several situation where it might be a problem like glue or o-wire bindings where the bleed might become visible.
So you have to go to the page panel.
You have to select the spread first, then you go to the fly-out menu and select don't "allow selected spread to shuffle" pages. The numbers of the spread will appear in rectangle brackets.
Now you can drag the right (or left) page away from their counterpart on the spread. First you have to deselect any pages from that spread, so you can click on any thumbnail of any other page of any other spread. Then click on the right page of that spread. Only this pages has to be selected.
You see the icon of your curser changes as it is in the image above. Drag it as far as you see a thick vertical line. Then release sthe curser.
As result you have now seperate pages. You need only to extend the image, here on page 6. I have taken an image which is large enough, so I need only to move the image frame edge to the bleed.
When I export a single page PDF, as your printer wants I don't get problematic bleed from the opposite page.
You can download this example as IDML file. https://www.dropbox.com/s/qnotrl1ihe7umh7/SinglePages-Spread%20Ordner.zip

  • Create a pdf as single pages from a spread in InDesign

I have a 4 panel brochure in InDesign. The document is laid out as two pages 24.312 inches wide by 9.5 inches tall. I ultimately want to create an 8 page PDF - single tiles of the panels from the brochure. I cannot figure out how to do this.

You did set up your document with a mess!
I did another answer to the same topic today:
Create a new document (File > New > Document…) with 4 pages,in put your size of the trimmed pages, insert the bleed. First page is page 4!
You have to inform yourself on the bleed size! Ask the printer!
Click twice on the right page thumbnail in the panel and go to the section and numbering menu in the panel’s fly out menu and change to start with page 2.
Change the page to a start of a new section, start with 1.
You have now facing pages 4 | 1 &  2–3 with correct page numbers in 2 spreads. On page 1 you see the triangle which indicates that here is a new section.
When you finally export your PDF for print Export as single pages, not as spread.

  • Export to PDF is not printing all the columns in one single page.

    Hi,
I have a report, I am exporting the report to PDF, but ALL the columns are not printing in a single page, It is getting printed 2 or more pages.
I am okay if I have a horizontal scroll bar or if the test size is reduced. Please see the recording and let me know whether it is possible.

Sorry sir, It is a slip of the tongue, I corrected my response already.
So it is defenitely possible to make ALL the columns appear in the same page in PDF regardless of how much width the report occupies?
If yes, can I see a horizontal scroll bar or the text will be shrinked to fit the page?

  • Help With Printing Multiple Pages on Single Page

I am trying to print a calendar on a single 11x17 sheet of paper. Currently the size of the calendar is forcing the application to want to print 3 pages. I have a ministry requirement that requires the calendar to be printed in Arial size 16 font and print
on a single page. Is there any way to fit this document on to one page?
    Thank you

I would set it up with a landscape page size of 11x17. Insert tables for the calendar, floating if necessary. Insert the text. This is not using a calendar wizard or anything of the sort.
    Tables
Are we talking a week, a single month, two months, a quarter, four months, six months, or a year? Very much is going to be very crowded!
As an alternative, you could try setting it up for two portrait pages and then tell word to print two pages per sheet. You would lose some paper to wider margins this way. (I have only done this with 8-1/2 x 11 pages but the principle should be the same.)
This would require starting with an even larger font because Word would scale it. If you need exactly Arial 16 it may be tough to get.
p.s. I envy your ability to print on 11x17.

  • 2 single pages, then spreads possible?

For a PDF ebook, I'd like to have the layout be like this:
Jacket front (single page), Page 1 (single page), Page 2–31 (spreads), page 32 (single), Jacket back (single).
I can get the pagination right by having the Jacket front be page i. But I can't get Acrobat to allow this sequence:
Single page; single page; several spreads (with 2 page numbers per spread); single page; single page.
Acrobat will only allow 1 single page, multiple spreads, 1 single page.
The only workaround so far is to add a blank page to the left of page 1 and one to the right of page 32, which is pretty clunky. Any better ideas? (Guess I could fill the blank pages with something...)
    Thanks!

@Dave Merchant - The pages are true spreads, I've had a go at attempting to define the page type by the master but i can't seem to get it to split the document so that the first three pages remain single. I had a go at trying to create an entire new document with the pages in in order, but not sure how to insert single pages and spreads combined within the document.
@Test Screen Name - Do you know how i would be able to create such a document within indesign? i've had a look for some answers in the documentation but havent come accross anything yet (im on CS5). I had a go at combining the documents as the booklet and the single pages, but when i change the view options in acrobat to two page the first pages becomes a cover and the second and third are next to each other.

  • Single page exportation pdf

    Hello!
I usually work on my Indesign document double spreaded and what I need to send to my printer is a single page pdf with 3mm bleed. Bleed is related to the 4 sides of each single page: the side of the spine includes me a short bit 3mm of the other page's design.
Do we have a feature for it?
    Thanks!!!

Here's an AS that works for me. Copy the script and paste into Script Editor.
    tell application "Adobe InDesign CS2"
set allPresets to name of every PDF export preset
set thePreset to choose from list allPresets
    if thePreset = false then
    beep
    error number -128
    else
set the thePreset to item 1 of thePreset
    end if
    try
set thepath to (full name of document 1) as string
    on error
set theDesk to path to desktop as string
set thepath to theDesk & (name of document 1) as string
    end try
if thepath ends with ".indd" then
set thepath to text 1 thru -6 of thepath
    end if
set pageCount to pages per document of document preferences of document 1
repeat with i from 1 to pageCount
set page range of PDF export preferences to i as string
export document 1 to file (thepath & "-" & i & ".pdf") format PDF type using PDF export preset thePreset without showing options
    end repeat
    beep
display dialog "Finshed." buttons {"OK"} default button 1
    end tell
Copy the ID doc you want to make single page pdf files of in its own folder. Open the ID doc, then run the script from Script Editor. The script will operate on the front most ID doc and place the pdf files in the same folder the ID doc is in. Not real sophisticated, but it works for me.

  • Converting a pdf with double-pg spreads to single-pg spreads

I created a pdf from an InDesign file to have facing, double-page spreads. Now, I no longer have the InDesign file and need to change my pdf from having double-page spreads to single pages. Is there a way to do this? Thanks!

I've done this when I have created a ledger-size factsheet or newsletter for print, then needed to create a letter-size version for availability on the web.  Start with the spread that contains the page which you would like to appear first.  Extract it and name it as a new file.  Crop the page from the side that contains the portion of the double-spread that you don't want to appear.  [You can save on file size if you delete graphic elements on the side which you are cropping.]  Then go back to the original PDF and bring over the page which should come second, crop it, and so on.  When all finished, be sure to "Save As..." in order to minimize file-size.

  • Is there any way in Adobe Reader to limit printing to only one page at a time?

We have a large piece of internal knowhow in the form of a pdf document that we don't want users to be able to print in one go as it would risk the document leaving the premises. We are quite happy with users using print screen for single pages, but that doesn't really produce readable results.
So ideally we'd like users to be able to select print, but when they do it should only allow 'print current page' or just print the first chosen page instead of the whole selection. For instance, selecting pages 123 - 145 should only print page 123.
I've looked in to various areas already. We are delivering this document through a secured version of Adobe Reader via Citric application streaming, so are able to customise the config.js file any way we want, however I've looked through the Java Reference Guide and haven't been able to identify anything that might satisfy our requirement this.
I've also looked in to Document Actions such as "Document will print", but again (perhaps due to a personal lack of programming knowledge) am unable to find a way to fix the print option to a single page.
    Any ideas/suggestions much appreciated.
    Kind regards,
    Kaan

The sponsor is not happy for low res printing either. As an organisation we should be looking at DRM more closely, and we've added to the requirement with this problem. We are also going to look in to the option of attaching metadata and scanning that at our exit points (e-mail, printers, usb's, etc.) so that users have free reign internally but can't send sensitive documents out. Obviously it's all going to be very expensive!
    Cheers for the respones guys.
