Printer Status changes to Stopped

I just upgraded my Mac 1.6 GHz G5 from 10.4.1 to OS 10.5.8.
Now I can't print to my Brother HL-2140 printer. I downloaded the new driver from Brother...the new CUPS driver, but I think that it is only for 10.6 Snow Leopard. I also updated the Printers Firmware as recommended. The printer says ready and when I try to print it looks like it's going to print and then the status changes to "Stopped" and this error flashed - "rastertobrother2140 failed"
Any Help?

I tracked down my old Brother Install CD. The download from the Brother or Apple site will not work with 10.5.8. You must use the driver that came on the install cd

  • Printer Status Report

    Printer: HP Photosmart 5515 on the label (but HP Photosmart 5510d B111h on the Printer Status Report).
    Operating system: Win 7
    Why does item 25 in my Printer Status Report show incorrect "Ink Install" dates? Depending on the colour, the date of installation of each ink cartridge is given as four or five days earlier than the actual date of replacement.  I would have thought that the date would be exactly as per my desktop computer to which the printer is connected via a USB cable.
    The printer is less than one year old and has given the incorrect dates from the moment the original set-up cartridges were replaced.

    HI LincsP,
    You are correct that the dates should in fact change and show the exact dates. This will not affect your ability to print or print quality at all. It may have something to do with you needing a product update. You can click here to find out how to check for a product update on your printer.
    When it's time to change a cartridge next time print the Status report before you replace it and then again right after you replace it. If the same thing happens please scan the sheets and attach them to this thread for me to look at.

  • "unable to get printer status" and "server-error-not-accepting-jobs"

    I've got an Intel Mac Pro with Tiger. When I accepted the latest update from Apple, I lost all my defined printers! I've re-added a local USB printer and a networked Laserjet - fine. But I also added a Phaser 850 color printer (networked) which used to work fine. It connects ok, and opens the printer queue window, but when it tries to print, it says "Unable to get printer status (server-error-not-accepting-jobs". The queue stays active (not stopped) but the jobs don't move. I've tried deleting the printer and re-making it - same deal. What's going on?

  • Problem with this out.print(status.equals(

    Hi i've got another problem.
    The following codes is as follows:
    String status = (String)rs.getString("Status"); //status is either "O" - Open or "C" - closed
    out.print(status)
    out.print(status.equals("O"));
    it returns me FALSE even in my database it is O... I am not sure why.. can someone enlighten me? and it works if i use
    out.print(status.charAt(0) == ('O');
    I am not sure why..
    please reply asap... thanks

    try follows
    out.print(status) ;
    status.trim();
    out.print(status.equals("O"));That won't change anything. status.trim() won't actually change status; it just returns a substring. If you actually want it trimmed, you should do this:
    status=status.trim();
    out.print(status);
    out.print(status.equals("O"));

  • Print Status On AR Invoice

    Hi All,
    I need to create a UDF that will display the documents print status.  I have created the UDF and now I need to create a query that will look at the document number and then the print status and based on that return a yes or no value in my UDF for printed or not printed.  Problem I have here is that I don't know how to refresh this field regularly as you will only look at the print status once the document has already been added to the system therefor when you go back to the document nothing is really refreshing.
    Could somebody please explain to me how I could get this to work and also what query can achieve this.
    Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Hi Verburgt Quinn,
    You could create a query like this and set it to refresh based on Document Number field.
    SELECT T0.[Printed] FROM OPCH T0 Where T0.DocNum=$ OPCH.DocNum
    This query is for A/P Invoice and change the table to the required one.

  • ASM, Listener, Instance status changes to OFFLINE.

    Hi All,
    I have completed the installation part...whereby installed Clusterware (no OCFS2), ASM and the RAC database S/w along with the database. The RAC version is Oracle 10.2.0.1. The installation is done on the CentOS operating system.
    The crs_stat -t shows all the resources. I am facing the following issue.
    1) After rebooting the server, most of the resources status changes to UNKNOWN. I need to stop all the resources and then need to restart it again (crs_start -all).
    2) The ASM, Listener and Instances resources status changes to OFFLINE after restarting all the resources. This happen regularly. Below is the output.

    If someone can help me with some solution for Point 2, it will be great.
    Regards

    Your Database started completely, right?
    You found ASM processes, right?
    You can check by:
    srvctl status asm -n <node_name>
    How?
    try to stop/start cluster again...
    Or try to start step by step -> nodeapps -> ASM -> database by use srvctl command-line
    anyway if you serious about resulting from crs_stat command-line:
    You need to unregister from Cluster and add it again.

  • Printing from desktop suddenly stopped

    printing from desktop suddenly stopped 2 days ago; remote printing still works perfectly; desktop shows printer "uninstalled." Print doctor says the printer and desktop are connected to different routers, but nothing has been changed; the issue simply arose suddenly, so I don't think this is an accurate diagnosis. When I try to install the printer again, it says the IP # is already installed (which it is and it prints from a laptop, just shows "uninstalled" for desktop printing. ) Help!
    This question was solved.

    Sharon,
    Welcome to the HP Community Forum.
    If I understand what you are saying, it appears that one computer - the notebook - is working correctly to print.
    A different computer -- a Desktop computer - does not print, and is showing an error indicating that the printer is not connected properly (or something similar).
    Assuming you are using DHCP and not a Static IP address for the Printer, the following might apply to your setup.
    You might try / consider the following to try and fix the problem for the Desktop computer:
    On the Desktop:  Remove the Printer software from Control Panel > set icon view > Programs and Features > Right-Click >> Uninstall
    Shut down the Desktop Computer
    Optional
    Disconnect the extra bits from the Desktop -- USB drives, speakers, other unnecessary devices.  Leave the monitor and mouse connected; these are considered necessary.
    Unplug the Desktop computer for thirty seconds
    Reconnect the Desktop computer to the power (plug in)
    Reconnect the Desktop's devices as desired:  USB drives, etc.
    Shut down the Notebook, using proper shutdown protocols
    Shut down the Printer
    Switch off the Router - wait ten - fifteen seconds...
    Switch on the Router - wait thirty seconds for the Router to boot completely...
    Boot Notebook, Desktop computer,  and then start the Printer
    Install the Full Feature Software onto the Desktop computer:

  • Printing seems to randomly stop for individual machines

    I run a network of about 25 Macs with about 8 different printers. All of our machines run on either 10.3.9 or Tiger, up to 10.4.9. I have noticed, on occasion that individual machines will not be able to print. Most printing is done through shared printers via the Xserve. We also have a couple shared through USB. I have done the standard steps of trouble shooting each time (Make sure the printer is on, full of paper, make sure the printer on the specific computer does not state that the jobs are stopped, make sure that the Printers are not stopped on the Xserve, make sure the computer is connected to the network, etc.).
    The thing that seemingly links these stoppages together is not a specific program (it has happened in 4D, MS Office 2004, Vectorworks, etc.), and it has not been a specific time nor computer. The link is in how I have corrected the problem. The only way that I have been able to rectify this situation has been to Reset Printing System and then open the Disk Utility and repair permissions (There are several permission related to CUPS printing that change when resetting the system) and then re-adding the printers individually. While this works, it is only a temporary fix. The problem does reoccur on the machines intermittently.
    Does anyone have this same issue? Does anyone know another method to figure out what is going on? Does anyone know a way to get this information to the Apple techs so that they can try to determine a future fix?
    Help would be appreciated.
    Thanks, Brian

  • Print Status Dialog Box

    In my printer simulation, I want to display a dialog box that shows the print status. It should consist of a title bar with the X button, and a message. This message will update each time I change the string it uses. An OK (actually I'd prefer a Close button) should appear after the print queue is empty. And I wouldn't mind a little info icon.
    Here's what I'm currently using:
    JOptionPane.showMessageDialog(null, printStatusMessage, JOptionPane.INFORMATION_MESSAGE);Any way to hide the button and bring it back later? And how do I refresh the message after I change the printStatusMessage string?

    Instead of using a JOptionPane create your own JDialog (see Java Tutorial). Then you can add whatever you want.

  • Error message "unable to get printer status"

    I am connecting an HP6700 with a macbook pro running 10.8 wirelessly.  Wireless printing has been working fine for months until it recently stopped.  I have reconnected to wireless network on both printer and computer, restarted both machines, both say they are connected to the wireless network.  However when I try to print it starts to print and then I get an error message that says "unable to get printer status"  I don't know what else to do.  Help!

    Hi lizse,
    Welcome to the HP forums!
    Sorry to hear you've been having trouble printing wirelessly between your Mac running 10.8 and your Officejet 6700 printer but I will certainly do my best to help out
    To start, I know you've power cycled the printer and the Mac but I'm wondering if maybe your router had an update. I'd like you to turn off the printer and Mac, once they power down pull the power cord on your router for 30 seconds. Once the router is back up (the lights have returned to normal) turn the Mac and then the printer back on. Once they settle, please try to print again.
    If that doesn't resolve the issue please try resetting your printing system (don't re-add the printer just yet) and then perform a verify/repair of disk permissions. Once those complete, reboot the Mac and re-add the printer before trying to print again.
    Hope to hear back from you soon!

  • Xerox Phaser 7800 Printer Status issue

    I have a Xerox Phaser 7800 printer printing to a Windows 2008 Server R2 print server. While printing to the server the Xerox printer setup will continue to insert print jobs into the queue that say "Printer Status".  The "Printer Status", print jobs can be deleted without effecting the final printing. They will also timeout if you just leave them in the queue. From what we can tell, these "Printer Status" jobs are asking for status info before sending the print job (is paper loaded, toner leverls OK, etc...) Why they need this info... I don't know. When the Xerox printer setup is printing directly to the printer, the printer responds approperiatley and everything is fine.
    Since we operate in a public printing environement (University) we need to be able to control access to the printer via a printer server.
    Xerox's official stance on this is that they do not support printing from Mac OS X to a Windows print server. It is an unsupported configuration. This seems to be a commone stance for printier manufactures. We have a Ricoh printer with similar issues.
    On the Ricoh printer we were able to locate the section of the PPD code that makes the similar request of printer status and comment out those lines so the request is no longer sent.  I'm having a little more trouble with the Xerox PPD in locating the lines of code to comment out.
    If anyone has experience editing PPDs you help would be greatly appreciated!
    If anyone has influence at Xerox, help them understand their mistake and to at the very least change the PPD to allow the "Printer Status" requests to be suppressed as part of the printer setup.

    Same issue here with Adobe Reader XI 11.0.06. It will NOT collate whatsoever, regardless of the settings on the Print Dialog or the Printer Properties. It works with all other apps. Using HP Postscript drivers that come with Windows 7 SP1.

  • Server Monitor Notifications - Drive Status Changed - Time Machine

    I'm using an Xserve as a file server for a small workgroup . It has a Raid 1 set which is being backed up via Time Machine to an attached disk array.
    Whenever Time Machine runs (every hour), I get two notifications from Server Monitor that the drive status has changed:
    *Reason(s) for notification:*
    *Drive status changed*
    The timestamps on the notifications coincide with these messages in system.log
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 read() failed; socket=0x197060 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 write() failed; socket=0x197060 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 read() failed; socket=0x2090e90 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    Feb 2 11:28:05 ciesaxserve2 Server Monitor[854]: * _NSSocket.m:243 write() failed; socket=0x2090e90 error=(NSPOSIXErrorDomain,61)
    and:
    Feb 2 11:28:55 ciesaxserve2 servermgrd[78]: servermgr_backup: TimeMachinePostBackupHook called.
    Feb 2 11:28:55 ciesaxserve2 servermgrd[78]: servermgr_backup: TimeMachinePostBackupHook done.
    The notifications simply report that all is normal, and the number of available drives goes from 6, to 7, back to 6. Something to do with making the backup volume available, I presume.
    I would like to disable these specific messages. I realize I can disable all messages from server monitor regarding disk statuses, but then I would be turning off messages about failures and actual problems.
    Is there a config I can edit which will only alert me to actual problems? I'd like to stop getting 48 emails each day; reduce the noise and increase the signal.

    I know this post is old but this has recently cropped up for me. I have been backing up with Time Machine for months without a single alert. It started happening after I replaced the failed battery on my RAID card. A coincidence...however the prolonged down time surely caused an SMC (and perhaps PRAM) reset which I assume triggered the change in behavior.
    I've pinned it down to Time Machine backing up service settings, in particular the Open Directory archive. Time Machine backs up all the service data independently from the rest of the data on your server startup volume.

    drwxr-xr-x@  4 root  admin       136  4 Jun 15:32 .

    -rw-r--r--@  1 root  admin       249  4 Jun 15:32 openDirectory.browse.plist
    The ServerBackup_OpenDirectoryMaster.sparseimage contains an archive of your Open Directory database like the one you create from Server Admin. The only difference is that it appears to be unencrypted. This is a bit worrying since Snow Leopard, as far as I know, does not have an option to encrypt your Time Machine backup. This image seems to invisibly mount whenever a Time Machine backup is triggered. This can be verified by checking /private/var/log/system.log and filtering for backup

    You can see at 16:00:56 Server Manager got a call from Time Machine to start the services backup and finished at 16:09:26. Open Directory would have been backed up during that process. Take a look at /private/var/log/hwmond.log
    serveradmin$ tail /private/var/log/hwmond.log
    Tue Jun  4 16:08:36 BST 2013 - Number of drives change from 4 to 5.
    Tue Jun  4 16:08:48 BST 2013 - Number of drives change from 5 to 4.
    You'll see that both drive change warnings from Server Monitor occured just before the services backup completed. You can also use the sudo diskarbitrationd -d command along with tail /private/var/log/diskarbitrationd.log in another terminal window, trigger a Time Machine backup manually and watch this disk image mount during the backup process. Compare the mount times with the above logs to see if they all match up.
    Although I have discovered the cause (which thankfully seems harmless) I have not discovered a way to stop it from generating pointless alerts. I'll post here if I figure it out. I am in the process of upgrading all of my servers to Mountain Lion so it may be a moot point. I am hopeful this information may help someone out there even though it is thoroughly out of date.

  • Incorrect date in Printer Status Report

    I just changed a print cartridge today for an Officejet 6500 wireless.  The printer system date is today 8-19-11.  The Printer Status Report ink install date [#53 on the report] shows 8-13-11.  Why?  Thanks, Apuleius

    I beleive the printer only stores the date to the nearest week.

  • Not print my changes in a barcode Sapscript

    Hi everybody, please excuse me mi english is not very good. I have a problem, I am modifying a program ZPP_COR6N in a client, is at PP module, this create a Handling unit, and after print a barcode label. There are many formats and the requeriment is add one format. I make the changes, in the control program named ZRPP_SDPACKDR and this call the sapscript ZFPP_PACK_ETIK, inside this form call a standard text ZPPWETIQUETA037 this I made in Tx. SO10. I've done the tests in others  Tx Z and the result it's OK, but from the ZPP_COR6N  not print my changes however the others formats print OK, my format print but some empty fields . I did check the Tx. NACU  and the configuration is OK, and i make the debugger and I put many break points in the control program and activate debugger form and not stop the program, therefore i think not pass to this sapscript and program control. The program ZPP_COR6N call many bapis to create HU and not can call other sapscript Z because not exist others form. My question  Is there any way call the sapscript without use OPEN_FORM or print one sapscript form any function? Also this client use many other many systems to comunicate with SAP , I think to print the barcode label from the other system but i not expert in RFC or SAP PI Is there possible and this is true how can show to my users and solve this problem?  Add the NACU configurations

    Hi jimblr,
    Sorry you are having trouble. Does your printer show up "Connected and Ready" in ePrintcenter?
     These steps may help.  Turn off the printer.  Unplug your router from the power source for 15 seconds.  Plug the router back in.  Wait until the internet comes back up. (Approximately 2 minutes) Then turn the printer back on wait a bit for your pending apps to print.  Let me know if this helps.
