Printer won't connect to wifi, freezes up sporadically

Hi, I was really excited about the capabilities of this printer for about a day. It worked great on first setup out of the box. Here's what I did.
I'm using ubuntu 14.04 LTS and I was excited to be able to use the printer wirelessly without having to connect it to my computer. I unboxed the printer, plugged it into the wall, and ran the wireless setup wizard. That all worked fine and I typed in my SSID and home network password. The printer connected fine, and I was able to use my system's default printer control tool with the HPLIP HP Linux Printing and Imaging package to print documents wirelessly. Great!
I then printed some things straight off my phone. Great!
I then e-mailed some stuff to my printer through hpConnect the next day from work, and that worked. Great!
Fast forward to today, I queued up a few print jobs, and they don't print. Odd. Ok, I see my wireless indicator is flashing at me. Now is when the problems start.
- I've tried using the wireless setup wizard, and it just sits at "Now searching for wireless networks..."
- I've tried turning wireless off, and on again, and running wireless setup wizard. Same result
- I've tried "Restore Defaults" in the wireless menu and running wireless setup wizard. Same result
- I've tried "Restore Defaults" in the wireless menu in conjunction with resetting my wireless router. Same result
- I've tried "Restore Defaults" from the "Tools" device menu. Same result
- I've tried to use "Wireless Direct" just to see if I could get anything going, and it appears one of my neighbors has the same printer. I'm not exactly sure, but I can turn my printer off and the default "HP-PRINT-A1-ENVY 4500 series" SSID remains in my wireless networks list. Anyway, when I try to connect to this network, it asks for a password. I tried to supply the password my printer gives me, and it rejects me. Then I set it to "no security" and the network in my wireless networks list remains, and it's a secured network. I'm unable to change the printer's SSID broadcasted name via the embedded web server because the printer cannot access my wifi network for which to provide me a portal to the embedded web server.
- I've tried Wifi protected setup. My router tells me it's in progress after I enroll it with the printer's WPS PIN, but the printer and my router just sit there until the printer WPS setup stage just times out after four minutes. Never had problems with my router, I suspect it's the printer just freezing up again. When the timer gets to 0 minutes, the printer just sits there. When I hit 'cancel' on the printer's device menu, my router's web server tells me it detected a problem. When I try to go back to PIN Setup in the WPS Menu, the printer device menu freezes and I have to unplug it.
- Many of the things I've tried result in the printer menu just freezing up and I have to unplug it and plug it back in again just to get access to the device menu.
- If I try to access "Advanced Settings", the device menu freezes
- If I try to use wireless setup wizard, sometimes the device menu freezes
I really would prefer not to have to plug the printer into my computer. Is there a way to solve this wirelessly? If not, I'll be returning this item.

Yeah, it's weird. It is definitely a bug in the printer software/printer wifi hardware as I had not even hard-wire connected my printer to any other devices.
I was able to print by connecting it to my pc, but what is the point of purchasing a printer with wifi features if I have to connect it to my computer to print?

  • Printer won't connect to wifi

    Hello
I've recently bought Samsung m2020/2020w  wireless printer, but I cannot seem to connect it to wifi. When trying to connect via WPS, then wireless setup light keeps flasing for 2 minutes but won't connect. Also tried to connect the printer to wifi through my PC via cable, but that gives me "general error". Sent my printer for warranty repair, but it came back as OK (they managed to connect it to their wireless networks). I've switched off my windows firewall, tried firmware update on the printer and connecting it to the router using laptop. Wifi works okay with other wireless devices such as smartphones and laptops.
    Im using Cisco epc3825 router.

    Hello,
what band the printer is using (2.4 or 5 GHz)?
What is the security on the wireless network that you use?
have you tried to connect the printer withour WPS?
because it gives you a general error in wired side, I think your problem is bigger than wireless-only issue.
I think it is better to move your post to the small business->wireless forms that is responsible for your device type.

    Additional things to try.
Try this first. Turn Off your iPad. Then turn Off (disconnect power cord for 30 seconds or longer) the wireless router & then back On. Now boot your iPad. Hopefully it will see the WiFi.
Go to Settings>Wi-Fi and turn Off. Then while at Settings>Wi-Fi, turn back On and chose a Network.
Change the channel on your wireless router (Auto or Channel 6 is best). Instructions at http://macintoshhowto.com/advanced/how-to-get-a-good-range-on-your-wireless-netw ork.html
Another thing to try - Go into your router security settings and change from WEP to WPA with AES.

Note - When troubleshooting wifi connection problems, don't hold your iPad by hand. There have been a few reports that holding the iPad by hand, seems to attenuate the wifi signal.

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830 Won't Connect to WiFi

I've had the HP Officejet Pro 6830 for 6-9 months, it's been working great wirelessly the whole time.  Three nights ago we had a power failure, now the printer won't connect to the wireless router.  It sees the SSID, but when I enter the password, it says that the password is wrong.  I am using an ARRIS Cable Modem.  Any suggestions?

    Hi @CWoodland ,
I see that you are having issues with setting up the network again for the printer, you are getting a message that the password is wrong. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
I would check the network password on the Mac, to verify the correct password is being entered.
How to Find the WEP or WPA Key or Password for Your Wireless Network.
You might have to restore the printer defaults and try again.
Go to Setup, Network Setup, Restore Network Settings.
Then run Wireless Setup Wizard again from the printer's display.
Go to Setup, Network Setup, Wireless Settings, Wireless Setup Wizard.
If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a great day!
    Thank You.

  • Hp C4580 printer won't connect to wireless network, but see network is available.

I've sat through quite a few of the threads here with regard to photsmart C4580 printer not connecting to wireless network.
My issues started with a cartridge issue, which I resolved with a new cartridge, but only after trying out different solution offered on HP forum.
Now printer won't connect to my network which it has been connected to for over 2 years with no issues. The wireless network is working perfectly fine and I even printed out a HP photosmart C4500 series connectivity status and in this report printer can see the network I need to connect to.
I've tried downloading various programs from Scan doctor to complete install of all HP programs and even tried installing printer from Windows 7 "add a printer", but none can see this printer.
lastly I was hoping trying to locate IP address for printer which looks like it may help, but report says IP Address "not applicable".
I believe printer, wireless network and PC are working correctly, this there a way to switch printer to online so it can be seen.
    Help would be great.

  • Iphone won't connect to wifi

My iphone won't connect to my home wifi. It say's connected but when i try and go online it say's unable to connect. I've tried forgetting the network, turning wifi off and on. The ip address is ok and my laptop connects ok.
Has anyone got any ideas about how i can fix it?

I am having the same issues as GirlyGirl.  Every other day or so my iPhone 3GS won't connect to wifi.  Before I was showing the wifi signal as if it were attached but I couldn't surf Safari.  Now even though under the wifi settings it shows I'm connected, I don't get the wifi fan showing I'm connected.  I've done the following:
    Renewed lease
    Forgotten network
    Reset Network Settings
    Reboot my iPhone
Two days ago when I rebooted the router and Reset Network Settings it started working correctly.
I've been working with my internet provider, they tell me my firmware on my 2wire is up to date & the issue is definitely with my iPhone.
Security Settings:  WPA-PSK (TKIP) and WPA2-PSK (AES)
My iPhone is attaching to the 169.x IP Address and the Subnet is 255.255.0.0. The router, DNS and Search Domains are blank.
Also to note, I changed the name of my device through the gateway router so I could identify it more easily.  As of today it had defaulted back to the old name which is the ip address. Even if I don't change anything it isn't keeping those settings.
Other than restarting my router and taking everything down for 15 minutes each time, what else can I try?

  • My Ipad won't connect to wifi.

My Ipad (1st generation, iOS 7.1.2) won't connect to wifi. I've had the Ipad for two days, the first two days it worked perfectly fine with my wifi, but today it wouldn't connect. I tried getting back on to my wifi but it told me the password was incorrect. I have tried to enter the password multiple times, but every time it tells me its incorrect. It is the correct password and I have made sure I have been typing it in correctly, which I have. I'm not sure what the problem is, and I don't know how to fix it. Please help!

"My Ipad (1st generation, iOS 7.1.2) won't connect to wifi. I've had the Ipad for two days"
A first gen iPad can only be upgraded to iOS 5.1.1 so it may not be a first generation.
Tap Settings > General  > About
Which version do you see ??
    For iOS Wi-Fi issues ..
    Reset the device:
Press and hold the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button together for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset All Settings
If that doesn't help, tap Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings
You will have to re enter your Wi-Fi password.
No data is lost due to a reset.
