Printer wont print, not sure why. New to Mac
Hey Guys,
I installed my printer more easily then anything I have ever installed it on before. I was almost worried because the mac effortlessly found and installed it.
I tried to print something today and the other day however and it just doest print. I see it in my printer cue, but it just stays there for hours and hours and never prints.
As far as I can see there is no way to print a test page, and I tried every option I could find to see if I could trouble shoot, however the menus seem very limited.
I really need to get the printing set up on this mac, so any help is greatly appreciated.
BTW, my printer is an hp color laser I believe 8420.

If resetting the que fails try deleting the printer and reinstalling (delete and allow your mac to find it again). This has worked for me in the past when I had trouble with the que.
If that fails you can search the HP website for a OS-X compatible driver for this printer model and try using that instead of the pre-installed driver selected by OS-X.

I am not sure why, but my mac just keeps on freezing
Everything was fine, but then my mac ran out of battery and then shut off. When I reconnected it to a charger and started it up, I started seeing this problem. First, the start up took a really long time. Then when I tried to connect to the wifi, i saw the color wheel for nearly 5 minutes. I can no longer print any document in PDF format. Not sure why? When I try to print, the document saves to my hard drive as a PDF and will not allow me to print? Never had this issue before. Any thoughts?
Print to file is in the main print dialog (on Acrobat 9.x) as opposed to under Advanced

i did have my most visited sites in the pin ups yet for some reason or other not sure why but not when i open a new tab all there is, is one big blank white page. Not a toggle switch not even blank pin up thumb nails. Any help would be greatly appreciated. thank you

windows vista not recognizing my iphone4s when i open itunes, keep getting trust / dont trust message on phone and always press trust. Not sure why it's started doing it. Can not synch iphone at all or add new music....as itunes does not pick up the phone I have connected anymore. My ipod synchs fine still and thats over 6 years old!

My iphone5 crashed Wed May 29 and I am not sure why.. I had to do a restore and have been trying to slowly get everything back on the phone... Yesterday June 6 it blacked out once and I don't have everything on the phone as before.... Is it damaged and should I try to get a new one?

I think I am following -- I was able to upload to my iPhoto and all photos and videos are there that is a plus! I tried to create an Event in my iPhoto and put all of my photos in that event but for some reason, now my iTunes it not recognizing that Event in my iPhoto. It is not allowing me to import just that event at the moment but I may be doing something wrong. At least all of my pics and vids are in iPhoto so that is a plus and I know they are at least saved somewhere. Just for some reason, my iTunes it not locating the event that I created with only those photos.

Also, I had no clue that my iCloud could be backed up via cellular data! However, is this a new feature with the most updated iOS?? Unforutnatly I am like 2 iOS updates behind because I don't have enough storage on my phone. I still get the notification that my phone needs to be plugged in and connected to wifi in order to back up to the cloud :-(
How can I sync using USB? Right now when i click on the info tab for my iPhone in my iTunes this is the answer that I get -- I am a little unclear as to what it means.

Printer not accessable after new cartridges
I'm trying to help a friend. She is printing from iMac laptop via a G4 iMac. She had a large print job and the printer ran out of ink. She replaced cartridges and still can't print. I'm new to Macs myself and haven't had this problem. She is depending on me to help. My experience tells me that there could be a print spooler area that needs to be cleared out, but she can't get get a dialog that shows print jobs. I don't have a clue where to start (my Unix experience of this was too long ago to remember details).
If I were to remove the printer setup from the laptop and re-define it, would that help, or not make a difference?
I'd appreciate any help on this problem (and I admit it may not be a spooler issue).Hi and welcome to discussions
Open System Preferences > Print and Fax
You should see a button "Print Queue" click on it and a pane should open which will give you access to the spooler.
I use an Epson Stylus 740 and the above gives me an option to Resume Job under "Jobs" in the Menu bar

Image size is being reduced - not sure why?
Help! I have edited a slew of images and need to print them to large prints (over 24x30). When I export the images, the size is 11 x 14. The original files are HUGE - I am not sure why the size is being compressed. I am sure it is a simple fix but I don't know what that is.
I have a Mac OS X and Lightroom 3.

AngieDid you crop the image? Did you set the output size in pixels in the export dialog box?
A 5184x3456 original cannot be printed at 24x30 because the aspect ratios do not match. The fact that the aspect ratios of 4264x2843 and 24x30 match indicates that you cropped the photo. But you cannot print 4264x2843 at 24x30 at 360 ppi (not dpi) because there aren't enough pixels in the photo. 24x30 at 360 ppi is an image that is 8640x10800 and you don't have that many pixels. You can still print it at 24x30, but at a much lower ppi. -
I received a text today while at work about iCloud keychain verification code. I have not signed up for it or anything that uses it. I work out of the city with limited internet access so not sure why I would be getting this. I only got this number about a month ago. Apparently someone else had the number before because I get texts from his family members wondering whats going on. I got one yesterday and the person didn't seem to thrilled that the number was cutoff and today I got 2 texts about iCloud Keychain which I don't even know what it is. Seems suspicious to me. If the person who use to own the number is doing it he should know it is not his number anymore because he obviously didn't pay his bills. I'm not too sure about iCloud Keychain so just want to know my info safe?? It says it can store credit card numbers which is what gets me worried. Frankly I think it's pretty stupid to save that kind if information with any kind of app. But I don't want some random person trying to access my personal information because they are bitter they lost their number. Please let me know as soon as possible so I can change passwords or anything that is needed.

from some reason (i'm not sure why..) my whole iphoto library got deleted. I restored the whole library from my backup. Now all the photos are blank but steel have the photo info. (date, res., size etc.) Do you know what's the prob.? why can't i see my pics.

The original image files are missing form your iPhoto library or iPhoto cannot find them, because the link to the originals has been broken. The image info is stored in the internal libraries, independent of the original files. That is, why you are still seeing them.
I restored the whole library from my backup.
Try restoring from an older backup, from before you first noticed the problem.
How large is the library, that you restored? Is the file size large enough to hold all your photos, or has the size been reduced? If the library is still large, the photos may still be inside, even if iPhoto cannot find them.

What happened, before your iPhoto library got deleted? Which applications have you been running, or which new software have installed or upgraded? Have you moved the library to a different disk or tried to use it from different user account or access it over the network? -

emails in my 'trash' are being deleted after about 5 weeks, but I want to retain them. I have selected 'never' on the 'permanently erase deleted messages' option, so I'm not sure why this happening? any ideas?
iCloud emails in the Trash are deleted after 30 days on the website, and this over-rides the 'never' setting in Mail. There is no way of stopping this. (The Trash isn't really intended as a permanent storage area.)
Try this workaround. Go to http://www.icloud.com and go to the Mail page. In the sidebar, click on '+' to the right of 'Folders' to create a new folder; give it a suitable name.
Now click on the cogwheel icon at bottom left. At the bottom of the pane which opens, set the 'Move deleted messages to' drop-down menu to your new folder.
I'm not sure whether, when you delete messages in the Mail application, they will go to the Trash or your new folder - you'll need to experiment. I have a nasty feeling that Mail will simply move them to the Trash as before. If this is the case you will have to move them to your new folder manually - dragging messages directly to this folder rather than hitting the delete key will be the easiest way. -
