Printer wont stop feeding blank pages

Installed Tiger on G4 Powerbook. HP Photosmart will not print, will just feed blank pages through the printer. Reloaded printer drivers with no success. Any ideas?? Thanks

I was using 10.4.11 and some things were working ok, just wouldn't do faxes correctly. Amongst other quirks I did an archive reinstall and went back to using 10.4.10. My epson printer is doing this very same thing as yours. I have tried uninstalling all and reinstalling all, nothing has changed. Good luck with you

  • Suddenly, when I print a Selection from an email, it prints out about 10 blank pages and somewhere in there, the selection I wanted.

    I'm using Firefox 12 on Windows XP. Things worked fine until just this evening. Now when I choose Print/Selection in my email, it spits out multiple (like, maybe 10 or more) blank pages with just a header/footer on them. I've followed the instructions for reseting the Firefox printer setting AND Reseting all Firefox printer settings and it still does it. Everything prints fine in Internet Explorer. This printing issue is getting REALLY tedious. I don't want a complicated workaround, I just want to print a selection. NOW why isn't it working?

    Thanks, Cor-el, but that question addressed a problem I had with FF11 (that was only fixed when FF12 came out). FF12 worked fine for printing selections from emails perfectly up until yesterday afternoon. Reboot didn't help, even after reboot when I preview what I want to print (thank goodness for that option, or I'd be going through a lot of paper) it's still showing the page of text I actually want to print, then 6-8 blank pages afterward. This is not happening with every email, I have noticed ths morning. It now happens with email sent from (or to, as a reply) a yahoo account in Sweden and email sent from (or in reply to) a gmail account in Canada. These previously printed fine. Other emails will print maybe one extra page. There seems to be no rhyme or reason why it would suddenly start doing this. Should I look at the source code? What would I be looking for?

  • Feeding blank pages

    I recently purchased an HP Laserjet Pro 200 MFP M276mw for my business. I'm running Mac osx 10.10. Every time I print an email, or a form off the internet, it only prints on the odd pages and adds 2 extra blank pages at the end. An example, I want to print an email that's 2 pages long. It will print on the 1st and 3rd page, the 2nd, 4th, 5th and 6th pages are all blank. The settings are set to print a letter size paper as a default on the printer and on my computer. This has been happening since I installed the printer which is brand new. I've deleted and added the printer several times along with downloading drivers. There is no setting anywhere to turn off "add blank pages". This is getting very frustrating since I have to go thru several drop down menues every time I need to print an email.

    Hi @amerlaw ,
    I see by your post that you are having issues printing a email and forms off the internet, it only prints on the odd pages and adds 2 extra blank pages at the end. I will do my best to help you.
    Try another web browser to see if you have the same results.
    What web browsers have you tried?
    What email client are you using?
    Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. Make sure it shows just the printer's name.
    Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen it should show the printer's name. (Laserjet Pro 200 MFP M276nw)
    If the full printer name isn't listed correctly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver, might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in.
    Try printing again.
    If you are still having issues, please try the following steps:
    Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
    On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
    Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
    Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer..
    Reset the Printing System:
    Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
    Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
    Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
    Click OK to confirm the reset.
    Type the correct Name and Password.
    Click OK to reset the printing system.
    Then click the + sign to add the driver, highlight the printer. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name) Then click on the Add button.
    Are you also having this issue printing from other applications on the Mac?
    How is the printer connected? (USB/Ethernet/Wireless)
    If you need further assistance, just let me know.
    Have a nice day!

  • HELP! hp laserjet prints code and infinite blank pages!

    hey guys,
    ive got an early 2009 imac with 2.66ghz intel core 2 duo and 8gb ram,
    im running latest mavericks and trying to use a hp laserjet 1320tn printer.
    PROBLEM:
    when i press print i get one page with a line of code and then infinite blank pages untill i hold cancel.
    the line of code is :
    %! PS-Adobe-3.0
                                %APL_DSC_Encoding:   UTF8
                                                                                   %APLProducer: (Version 10.9.2  (Build 13c6
    here are some things that i have tried:
    * checked toner - 46% full
    * using the printer set up on a network (unshared)
    * using the printer via usb
    * reseting printing system ( many times )
    * using latest drivers
    * using older drivers
    * using alternate drivers from HP
    * using a generic post script printer driver
    * repair / verify disk permisions ( many times )
    * (last resort) Clean install of osx mavericks with fresh hp updates
    im fresh out of ideas guys
    the printer has been checked with a windows laptop and it printed perfectly and immediately so its an issue with my mac
    i dont really want to buy another printer as a need a small network duplex monochrome laserjet, and this is perfect ( except i cant get it to work !)
    also i checked with the manufacturer and apple and this printer is supposedly supported.
    any help would be awesome!

    OK here goes... (please take a deep breath)
    I'm going to include TONS of details, hoping that something here might help you get to the answer.
    If it's too much for your brain at whatever moment you get time to read all this, I do apologize.
    Maybe come back later when they're sleeping and you're wide awake, if that is ever possible. I was a stay-at-home Dad for one precocious child for a few years, so I have a tiny idea what you're talking about, though our married friends with multiple (usually bickering) children always assured us that having just one child is nothing at all like having children. So bless you! My heart goes out to you!
    Anyway, in Windows, there used to be a generic HPPCL driver and a generic PostScript driver for older printers. You could usually use a "generic" driver just fine, because very few programs (other than page layout and graphic design) used even 1/10th of the capabilities of the lowest-common-denominator oldest version PCL or PostScript command set. Something like that DOES exist in the Mavericks print installation dialogue.
    But back to YOUR printer.
    I tried installing my HP LaserJet 1320 on my iMac running Mavericks*.
    Unlike Windows, you can't install a printer that OS X Mavericks cannot 'see', either directly connected or via a network 'share', or wirelessly.
    My HP is connected via a network share. This should not significantly change what happens when you install your printer, but no guarantees.
    This was my first attempt to install the HP, because my default printer is a Canon inkjet, connected wirelessly via WiFi.
    So the LaserJet is in another room physically connected via USB to a MacBook, and marked 'Share this printer' on the MacBook system preferences. The MacBook has to be awake (not sleeping) and in this case, physically connected for my iMac to 'see' it.
    So, when I clicked the + sign in the , System Preferences, Printers & Scanners to add a new printer,
    I entered the description HP LaserJet 1320 into the search box the first time, then
    1. Mavericks tried to "find" the HP LaserJet on the network, connected to the MacBook.
    2. "This printer requires software that is not installed..."
    3. "Downloading Printer Software Update..."
    4. "Setting up "HP LaserJet 1320 Series @ KoMtB (MacBook's network name)
    5. At that point the printer appeared in this Add window shown below:
    Note the bottom Use: window below Location...
    Note that the third choice is Generic PostScript Printer...
    THIS IS THE ONLY PLACE AND THE ONLY TIME you can apparently select anything about which printer 'language' the Mac is going to use to talk to your printer:
    In searching for about 10 minutes, I did not find any way to ever get BACK to this screen once the printer installation is complete, short of deleting and reinstalling the printer again, or adding the printer a second time with a different name.
    I selected the choice highlighted, HP LaserJet 1320 series. I did a test print from TextEdit, and it worked perfectly the first time. I also tried it from Pages, and again, it worked perfectly, no spewing of PostScript initialization strings...
    My suspicion is that maybe Generic PostScript Printer is getting selected by Mavericks somehow without ever informing the user.
    Maybe 'Auto Select' does it. Don't know.
    In any case, since you've already done a Printing System reset, you have nothing else (custom print job Presets) to lose by trying to reinstall it again.
    I tried it, and It SHOULD also be possible to install the same printer multiple times, PROVIDED THAT you rename each one slightly during the Add process (HP-3200, HP-Auto Select, HP-Generic PostScript... ), so you can give several of them a try until you find one that actually works.
    Now, here's how to find the 'generic' PCL printer driver...
    Add the printer again, giving is a new name.
    In Use: select "Select Software", then search for "HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5"
    HP LaserJet Series PCL 4/5 driver IS a 'generic' PCL driver, and SHOULD work for basic printing, provided that you DO NOT use the slash between 4/5 in the printer name use a dash - instead. When I tried it with a slash (probably because it was a network share, the printer did NOT install. When I tried again and used a dash, it worked fine.
    The PCL 4/5 driver comes with a disclaimer as shown below:
    Your HP is apparently from the year 2000? (Mine is from 2004.) It's so hard to give up old workhorse friends, especially when one toner costs almost a much as a new printer. The good news it that newer LaserJets are WAAAAAAY faster, and a toner for a new model still costs almost as much as a new printer...
    After years of buying ONLY genuine HP toner, I finally purchased a generic toner cartridge online last year when I needed to print about 1500 pages. The high capacity generic refill cartridge cost 1/3 of price of a genuine HP 'standard capacity', and it works beautifully.
    Of course this is time consuming, especially when you have active kiddos competing for your time, but the last alternative after Gutenprint is to purchase a new printer.
    *DISCLAIMERS & FOOTNOTES:
    I don't use OS X Mavericks much, so I'm really not the best person to ask. But I did answer this thread ages ago.
    So, if none of this helps, please post your question again as a brand new message in the OS X Mavericks forum.
    That way it will likely get far more 'views' than posting your question in an old thread already marked 'solved'.
    From what I've seen in the Apple Support Communities, those most knowledgable tireless Saints of Mac with tens of thousands of reputation points who frequent these forums most every day usually look for the 'unanswered' and 'unsolved' questions first.
    Mostly I use OS X 10.8 Mountain Lion, because that's what shipped already installed on my iMac that I purchased from Apple as a refurb in Dec 2013. And because 10.8 seemed more 'sorted out' than Mavericks did last December.
    When I got my iMac last December, I immediately installed OS X 10.9 Mavericks on an external drive that I could select at boot time because:
    1) I could get Mavericks for free (wasn't sure if it would be a limited-time thing)
    2) Purchase of a new or refurb Mac then included a free iWorks suite (Numbers, Pages, Keynote) latest versions (wasn't sure if it would be a limited-time thing)
    3) I have Windows 7 installed under Parallels 9 on Mavericks to run basically one legacy Windows application I spent years learning and still use once or twice a year. Honestly, almost the only time I use Mavericks is to run Parallels 9 and Windows 7 and that legacy Windows app.
    4) My original Mac is a mid-2007 MacBook is still running OS X 10.6.8. That's what the HP printer is connected to. I now use the MacBook for email or when I need to take a computer somewhere else. My MacBook is not capable of being upgraded to run Mavericks, and I wanted to at least know about the current version of OS X, even if I NEVER upgraded my main system.

  • I can print from every app on my MacBook except with Firefox. Printing and print preview only produces blank pages???

    I have a MacBook Pro with Mac OS 10.6.4. Within Firefox, if I select File -> Print and then select preview a get a blank page. The same thing occurs if I sent the print request to my printer. I can print and preview from Safari and from any other application. Firefox is the only app that I can't print from.

    Is there anyone who can assist????

  • Acrobat Printing Driver results in blank pages

    I had Acrobat 9 Pro installed under Windows 7 Professional. I uninstalled the software to move it to my Windows 7 Enterprise Operating System and apply all the updates. When I attempt to print a web page I am receiving a blank page or a one page PDF file with just the web page name at the top of the page. Moving Acrobat back to Windows 7 Professional works OK. All my other programs including CS5 work OK under Windows 7 Enterprise without any issues.
    Thank you all in advance for all your help.

    edbedb,
    What software are you using for scanning and which HP device do you have?
    Just trying to help.

  • Print symbol '*' only on blank pages.

    Oracle have seeded vat Report which print symbol '*' at the end of the report i.e after printing Detail and summary.
    Now user need summary should be printed on Next page(This is achivable). and symbol '*' should be printed on blank pages after Detail & detail.
    e.g Detail infomration filled 80% of page then remainig 20% page should be filled by symbol '*' and if 100% page is filled by detail then no '*' is printed.
    Also same case with Summary. Summary always start with new page. once summary printed. reamining page should be printed by symbol '*'. If all page is blank then symbol '*' should not printed
    IS it possible in oracle reprot?

    The picture package in PSE/mac and PS always starts by filling the page with one photo. Then you click the "zone" (the image of any particular photo) for the photo you want to change out, and a dialog box pops up that lets you pick a different photo. You can also edit zones, create your own layouts, etc.

  • Why my numbers printing result always a blank page? Need help :(

    Friends, I really need fast response.
    Every time I tried to print my Numbers file (contained 3 tables in 1 sheet), the printing result always blank page.
    And there's this notification:
    Error Number : 306 A communication error has occurred. Make sure that the printer is plugged in, powered-on, and properly connected to your computer. Then try printing again.
    I'm using Canon iP100.
    Everything's normal when I print my emails or pages file.
    Thanks much before

    Maybe the brute force treatment is not required.
    One may try:
    export as XL file
    import the XL file
    it may clean the annoying oddity.
    Other scheme:
    export as CSV
    import the CSV file.
    It's more severe that the 1st one but it's less than dropping the file

    for a "fast response", I would re post this in the Numbers forum, where all the users who know that program well ask and answer questions.  Good luck.

  • InDesign CS 5.5 does not print out image, just blank page

    I am printing to a Lexmark and when I print something from InDesign it will not print the image out. Sometimes it prints a blank page, sometimes it prints the border of the image, sometimes it actually prints the image. It is very intermittent but the majority of the time it doesnt print the image I am trying to print. I have tried messing with the printers and print drivers but nothing has worked. Is there something in InDesign that is wrong?

    As I said, sometimes ID and a particular printer driver don't interact well. Printing directly is not really a primary function from ID and it is what it is. Printing from PDF is faster and more reliable 99.9% of the time, presuming you export the PDF correctly. A good place to start, if you aren't doing color management iin the ID print dialog, would be to use the PDF/X-4 preset.

  • Printer wont stop

    I cannot get my printer to stop printing.  I have done cancel printing several time and nothing happens.  there is nothing in the print cue.  I installed a new driver from the HP web site and it said that it installed correctly.  I even told it to print a test page but when I tried to print it, whatever was in the printers memory continued to print and the test page never printed.  I have unplugged it and replugged it.  It just keeps printing a line of symbols on each page.
    Helpl!!!
    Thanks.

    First of all - what printer?  Second - what OS?  Third - Have your tried leaving it disconnected from the computer and powering it on - can you print an internal test page such as a config or demo page without it continuously printing?  If the printer does internal test pages just fine then I can give you suggestions based on your OS on how to stop it from continuously printing.  If it does the garbage printing with no direct connection to the computer then it's a printer issue and we can work with that.

  • Why does my hp d7260 printer spit out a blank page each time one is printed?

    Often the printer will print out the desired page and than a eject the next page (blank with no intention of printing on it).  It will have a blank page between each multipage printing.  It always does this on printing from my wife's computer and sometimes from mine.  The printer is connected to our home network.  I am using xp and my wife is using vista.  I haven't kpet track of every incident from my computer but usually printing something from my browser. I run the paper through again so it is not a waste but just a pain.
    Thanks   George

    This sounds like an issue that could result from having A4 sized paper but having the printer settings set for A size.  Please check the paper settings.

  • Print to PDF---Showing blank Page

    Hi,
    I have report with chart-view and filter-view.
    If i Print the report into PDF without applying any of the prompts it's working fine.
    When am trying to Print the report after applying prompts...(let's say if i select 100 values from a multi-selector prompt) it's showing a blank PDF page.
    I tried to change the size of the PDF in the following path also...but no use
    C:\OracleBI\web\javahost\config\config.xml
    Can anyone suggest how can i get out from this issue(OBIEE 10.1.3.4.1)
    Thanks in advance..
    Pramod Sankati.

    Try this to create large PDF:
    1.Modify <oracle_home>\OracleBIData\web\config\instanceconfig.xml and add the <JVMOptions> tag to increase JVM heap size :
    <JavaHome>C:\Program Files\Java\jdk1.5.0_16</JavaHome>
    <JavaHost>
    <JVMOptions>-Xms256m -Xmx512m </JVMOptions>
    </JavaHost>
    2.Modify <oracle_home>\OracleBI\web\javahost\config\config.xml
    There are two locations of <InputStreamLimitInKB>. One location is inside the <PDF> tag and another is inside the <XMLP> tag. For OBIEE (10.1.3.x), the correct tag for <InputStreamLimitInKB> is <XMLP>.
    Increase the value of <InputStreamLimitInKB> inside the <XMLP> tag from default value (8192kb - 8MB) to 14336.
    For example:
    <PDF>
    <!-- Size limit for PDF request message -->
    <InputStreamLimitInKB>2048</InputStreamLimitInKB>
    <!-- Path to PDF userconfig.xml file. -->
    <!-- <UserConfigFile/> -->
    </PDF>
    <XMLP>
    <InputStreamLimitInKB>14336</InputStreamLimitInKB>
    </XMLP>
    3.After modifying the xml files, then stop and restart the BI JavaHost and BI processes
    4.Retest the problematic report and observe the outcome. Adjust if necessary in small increments.
    Note: An appropriated number of <InputStreamLimitInKB> is not a magic number and you may have to try to tune it to suite your environment.
    <InputStreamLimitInKB> when it is set to 0 (zero) equals unlimited; however, unlimited is not recommended. The <InputStreamLimitInKB> was designed to be a governor to prevent system overload.
    I hope it helps.
    Regards,
    Gianluca

  • F4440 wont stop pulling empty page half way in

    Hi,
    I changed the ink cartridges and printed the allign page. Scanned the page and after that, the printer pulls in a page half way and stops. The left LCD display flashes, saying there is a paper jam. Pushing the x button or turning of the printer off and back on, ejects the page and pulls in another page half way.
    I unplugged the printer for a few hours, thinking it may reset itself, but nope....still pulling in half a page.
    How can I stop this???
    Thanks for any help.
