Printerfile from Xpress in Classic Mode

I want to create a file bigger than 2 GB (Postscript file). I tried it with XPress 5 from Classic OS, and XPress 6.5 in OS X Panther. Every time I reach the 2 GB border the file is cancelled.
I know that there was the 2 GB border 5 to 10 years ago, but I thought there is no border in Unix-System.
Any idea what I can do. Its really hard to print only 5 pages, when you need to print 1000 pages.

  • How can I change 'attach a file' back from classic mode to regular mode

I was having a problem attaching a file (it was the file's fault, not FF) and switched to the 'classic' mode. I prefer the 'regular', previous mode and cannot figure out how to switch it back. I'm hoping when I reopen it it will revert to 'normal', but I would like to go back to the regular mode. I went to the tools (gear) page and flicked the attach section back and forth to the 'show progress bar setting it was originally on but it didn't work. Help?

    Hi Prem,
You can attach this manually in the document tab of BP. Thats the standard functionality.

  • Migrate User from Classic mode to Forms Authentication in SharePoint 2013

    Hi All,
I have upgraded a SharePoint 2010 classic mode site to SharePoint 2013 claims authentication. I have executed the command MgrateUser($true) and the user account is updated to Claims mode and I am able to login to the site.
Now I have extended the site to use forms authentication against Active Directory. How do I update the accounts to Form Authentcation mode using Powershell, is there any command available.
    Thanks & Regards
    pankaj

Okay, I would suggest instead to use Web Application Proxy and ADFS 3.0 (using an NTLM connection to SharePoint). This way you get your forms experience for those users who require it (or all, your choice) and you do not have to change anything with SharePoint.

  • Can't run software in Classic mode

Boy, I've tried to fix this myself and just can't. I have a new out-of-the-box Mac Mini with a generic USB keyboard. I've got some old Mac software (really old) which is really a main reason I bought the mini. I can't get Classic to run because it's not already installed. I have the OS9.2.1 disc, but I can't boot from the CD (I tried pressing C on bootup -- either my Mac can't boot from CD or my keyboard doesn't communicate properly). When I try to run the OS9 installer to get Classic to work, I get the hair-pulling error message that I need to run the installer in Classic
    mode.
A friend said I need the discs which came with the Mini, but I don't think there are any. Can the software which should have come with it be downloaded and burned on to a new CD in order to create a bootable CD?
    Argh!!! Please help!
    Warren

Thanks -- I did try that, just forgot to mention it. the CD isn't one of the options in startup disk. It says I can choose the hard drive or the network, and I've tried both. A friend said that Mac Minis can't boot from CD -- don't know if that's correct or not, but I can't seem to get it as an option.
I've tried to find any CD that may have come with the Mac Mini -- my friend said to look for one called "additional software and apple hardware test CD that came with the Mac Mini" but that is nowhere to be found. Either it didn't actually come with it (my hunch) or the staff in the receiving department took them out for safekeeping and hid them in a drawer somewhere and have forgotten. (Also possible.)
I can't imagine that I'm the only person in the world with this problem, but my tech support staff warned me in the first place. I wanted to try using some macs mixed in with our PC setup (because they can run this software, and because it seemed easy) and they said that they wouldn't be able to provide much support, since they're all PC people. I figured "how much support can it need? They're designed to be easy to use!" Oh well.
I'd really be keen to get any more suggestions from anyone who can help!!

  • How to I copy photos from my ipod classic back onto my pc?

How to I copy photos from my ipod classic back onto my pc? My hardrive recently crashed and the photos on my ipod are the only copies I have! The photos were synced onto th ipod originally - not saved or copied as file transfer.

See Recover your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device. I'm not sure which of the recovery tools can do photos offhand, but unless you chose the option to include full res. originals when you loaded the device then what they extract will be fairly low res. If you did opt for full res. then they should be visible on the iPod's drive when viewed in disk mode.

  • How can you FORCE Classic mode to run on an Intel Mac? OS 9 emulation Rosetta Software Design

Hello everyone, I had a few thoughts on running Classic mode on intel macs which I wanted to share.
Now I know little about software design, but maybe someone who does could tell me if these ideas I had are at all feasible:
Now in the first place I now that, technically, "Classic" mode went out back with Tiger because of the switch to Intel chips. Switching to Intel, Rosetta was required to "translate" pre and non-intel OSX applications, with the exception of Classic since Rosetta does not translate deep enough into the system to do that. As a substitute to Classic, SheepShaver, Basilisk II, etc. can be used to emulate OS 9, but these are very lousy applications compared to Classic mode.
Is there ANY way whatsoever Rosetta could be edited, or Classic itself so that it will work on intel macs?
(that is, with the exception of 10.7+ systems since these don't even use Rosetta)
I know if Classic was placed on an intel mac, it would tell you to download Rosetta, but from there will crashes because frameworks in the system's library does not support (or was not designed for) Classic...
So what I wanted to know:
What if an old, Classic supporting PowerPC system's library folder was added to an Intel computer in a location other then that computers real system folder (as not to confuse the real, current system) and Classic manually edited so that it would search for the needed frameworks/etc files in the new location? Would it work?
Since, after all, it now has the correct "system" to run on (which before Rosetta could not convert), do you think there's any chance it would work and function properly?
Now beyond that, I wouldn't know the actual results (or consequences). I suppose the main problem to consider would be that the the PPC's system frameworks/etc wouldn't work at all on an Intel (which leads us back to Rosetta lacking in this area), and since those frameworks will be searching for other files in the system library (which would bring them to the current, Intel system) the same results would happen: crash! Or maybe sensing the system was mixed up, one or more files would try to "fix" themselves, and in turn destroy the computer's real system.
So, would it be worth a try?
I'd love to hear any other thoughts on running Classic on Intel...

There is an "easier" way to acquire SheepShaver called Chubby Bunny and I have put together a post with some safe links that are relevant to this topic.  I see that emaculation is one of them.
Why do you need OS 9 greater than 9.04?
Feel free to let me know if you need any more help.
With the newer Intel Macs, you have to run a Classic emulator such as SheepShaver, which requires you to extract the Mac ROMs from your older Classic Mac and then install Mac OS 9.
A related program is Chubby Bunny, which comes bundled with all of that included.

  • Can I use my Mac OS 9 emulator (classic mode) with OS 10.5 Leopard?

    Hello,
This was the closest forum I could find to ask this question so please forgive me if it's not categorized properly.
I'm currently running OS 10.4 Tiger on my Mac and my OS 9 emulator works great. I've heard rumors that if I upgrade to OS 10.5 Leopard I can no longer use the OS 9 emulator and/or it will be eliminated all together. Can anyone clarify this for me?
I still use quite a few OS 9 applications, much less some older games which I really enjoy and do not want to lose the use of 'classic mode'. I would actually reconsider upgrading if I were to lose the use of it.
I've heard there's a workaround by using SheepShaver, but I've read a lot of mixed reviews on it so I'm hesitant to go that route should I decide to upgrade since everything is working so well with my current configuration. I'd like to take advantage of the new features in Leopard, but I don't think it's worth the sacrifice if I lose 'classic mode' by upgrading.
Any information/clarification would be much appreciated. Thank you.

    Hi, lancisti -
    Welcome to Apple's Discussions.
First, a point of clarification - OS 9 used as Classic is not an emulator program. SheepShaver is an emulator, but Classic is not. When OS 9 is used as an Operating System, it is referred to as OS 9; when used as a program under OSX to provide an environment in which many OS 9 programs can be run, it is referred to as Classic.
Unfortunately, Leopard (OSX 10.5) does not support OS 9 in any form, including Classic. There is no workaround supported by Apple for this.
As far as non-Apple workarounds go, SheepShaver is one approach, as you are aware. And, as you note, whether it works well, at all, or not seems a bit whimsical based on some users' reports. This may have something to do with SheepShaver not yet being ready for Leopard - that's purely a guess on my part.
Another solution would be to partition your hard drive, or add a second one, so that you can have a volume dedicated to OSX 10.4.x, which does support Classic and would allow you to continue using it. Or, since your machine is OS 9 bootable (using the model-specific version of OS 9.2.2 that came with it, and is installable from the machine's original disk set), set that additional volume up as an OS 9 boot volume.

  • IMac G5 PPC Using OS X 10.4.10 & OS X Classic Mode--Can They Work Together?

I do not have a system folder for OS 9 on my hard drive and an Apple technician said I cannot run OS 9 Classic mode on my computer. However, David Pogue's book "Mac OS X Tiger Edition, The Missing Manual" and many of these Apple discussion posts seem to indicate that running Mac OS 9 on my iMac G5 PPC with OS X 10.4.10 should be possible. Would someone be able to help me? Can I run the Classic mode and, if so, how would I get the necessary stuff into my computer? I still have my original Mac OS X Tiger (includes Xcode 2) Install DVD version 10.4. Thanks!

Hi, Mark. You may have misunderstood the Apple technician. I hope so, because if he said what you thought he said, he was dead wrong. You can indeed run old OS 9-based applications in Classic mode on your G5, if you use the Classic-support installer you'll find on one of the discs that came with the computer to install a suitable OS 9 System Folder on your hard drive. What you can't do on the G5 is run OS 9 *as an operating system*, without OS X running at all. Classic mode uses a slightly modified version of OS 9 as a sort of super-application or "shell" within which older, non-OSX-native applications can run under OS X.
Check the "Read before you install" file(s) on your original iMac OS Installer Disc 1 for instructions on installing Classic support from that disc or set of discs.

  • OS 10 in classic mode

I am running OS 10.4.8 and trying to use it in classic mode (kid games). When it was installed I did not upgrade, but simply loaded a new version of Tiger.
I want to buy/download the software I need to run in classic mode for these games. Can anybody tell me what I need to get to run 9 X?
    Thanks!

    Welcome to Apple Discussions.
Can anybody tell me what I need to get to run 9 X?
You need to install OS 9. However, that depends on a couple of things.
    1. Your profile does not say what G4 computer you have. Computers that shipped with OS X and not OS 9, may not support it.
    2. If your computer supports OS 9, you will need to have OS 9 drivers installed. To check whether you do, go to Apple Menu > More Info > Hardware > ATA. In the section it should look like this:ATA Bus:
    TOSHIBA MK1032GAX:
    Capacity: 93.16 GB
    Model: TOSHIBA MK1032GAX
    Revision: AB211A
    Serial Number: 65KE2771T
    Removable Media: No
    Detachable Drive: No
    BSD Name: disk0
    Protocol: ATA
    Unit Number: 0
    Socket Type: Internal
    OS9 Drivers: Yes
    S.M.A.R.T. status: Verified
If these conditions obtain, you can purchase OS 9 disks from applerescue.
Please do not hesitate to post back should you have further questions or comments.
    Good luck.

  • Crop tool shows background color unless I switch to "Classic" mode

I'm not sold on the "latest" Photoshop being the best. I've seen more bugs now that I've subscribed to the "CC" version than ever before. Here's my latest issue..
When I activate the crop tool (I realize it's been rewritten.. not sure why), I see my current background color in place of what is visible in my current  workspace. Ultimately, completing the crop command, it crops as expected, and the background color vanishes. What benefit is this? It adds confusion and makes me a bit confused as to what the final crop result will be. Why was this changed? Why am I seeing my current background color? It makes no sense. I've been using Photoshop for nearly 20 years and this is just dumb. Can anyone explain?
    Thanks!
    - Sean

Yeah, that was pretty vague. I was in a creative mode and was rudely interrupted by this weird change, so I wasn't focused on a clear post. The lack of direct email support to Adobe frustrated me also. Alas..
Bascially, I have a layer with some image data, and transparent regions:
I select the crop tool, and select a region just inside the outside edge, containing the portion of the image I care about:
The background switched from being transparent to my current background color selection. I had this green chosen for some completely unrelated task. I can't find anywhere that this can be disabled. The settings I have are what I believe to be the defaults:
And, when I change the crop settings to "Use Classic Mode", the behavior is the more sensible (in my opinion) current background:
I hope that clears up the confusion. I can't imagine any use case where replacing the current visible background with the current background color makes sense. If it's a feature, I can't find any documentation, official or otherwise, that explains why this is happening.
Yes, I like the latest versions of software, but since I made the jump from CS4 to CC, I've hit more bugs than ever before. I've had to kill Photoshop a couple times in the past two months, whereas before, it never froze up or crashed on me. This feels like a bug, but if it's a feature, I'd love to know how to use the new crop tool's background settings properly.
    Cheers!

  • Is it possible to print from within in Classic

I have a Power Mac G5 running Tiger (10.4.10) and I use OS 9 (9.2.2) which I run through Classic (as you all know, G5's cannot boot in OS 9).
My printer is an HP Photosmart 3210 and HP supplies no Photosmart 3210 driver for OS 9, since the printer is a 2006 model. Is there a way that I can print from Classic applications? I know that in 10.2 and 10.3, that could not be done. But I'm hoping that maybe in 10.4 it's possible.
It's too bad Apple didn't just make the G5's OS 9 bootable, since the G5's were the last computers to use OS 9/Classic at all.

    Tim Swope wrote:
Actually I do use mostly OS X applications. I just have some old classic apps that like to use (just for fun, including games) and I would like to be able to print if possible.
    Hi Tim Swope,
    Welcome back to Apple Discussions
Some USB printers will not work in Classic mode.
In any case, you'll need to get a printer that supports Mac OS 9, and install the
Mac OS 9 printer software while running classic additionally to the Mac OS X software that comes with the printer .

  • Photoshop CC classic mode is different to CS6

I am currently using a trial of CC. I want to upgrade but the main issue putting me off is the crop tool, I have to crop a lot of images and this new method makes it more difficult.
I have always used classic mode. By default in CS6 the crop bounding box is already placed on the image. However on CC the default classic mode the crop bounding box isnt placed on the image, I have to drag it each time.
Is there a way to have the box on the image by default?
The only way I can see is to turn off classic mode but then theres the issue of having to use the annoying method of moving the canvas rather than the crop box and I dont want to use that
    CC classic crop
    CS6 classic crop

Can anyone from Adobe help?  I would love to try the Photoshop CC, but have had this problem each time I installed it, so I just use the Photoshop CS6.  I understand there are different features in CC and would love to try them.  Please help me solve this frustrating problem!  Thanks.

  • Classic Mode Infected with SevenDust

    I need some help here...
Classic mode is infected with SevenDust aka 666 virus. I can't boot with Norton Anti Virus because I have a new iBook and need OS 9 for that, which it won't boot into.
Should I remove the OS 9 system folder and run Norton from CD after putting a new system folder on? I know this pretty much requires system reinstall.
Also, can this affect OS X files at all if it does strike? And what about my disk images? Can I disinfect them with Norton? Perhaps put them on my memory stick and disinfect them on an OS 9 machine that has Norton running on it?

    Hi, MacPlus512.
If your iBook G3 is running Tiger, then get a copy of Norton AntiVirus 10 for Macintosh (the Tiger-compatible version of NAV), install it on the iBook G3, connect your iBook G4 to the iBook G3 (G4 as the target computer) in FireWire Target Disk Mode, then have NAV scan the iBook G4's entire drive. Likewise, scan the iBook G3's entire drive.
Do not move around potentially infected files. NAV will scan disk images.
There are several variants of SevenDust. See this Symantec document.
