Printers compatible with OSX on macbookpro with intel chip

Can anyone reccommend a printer for the macbookpro which seamlessly prints photos from iphoto 6? I have an HP 8250 and it is a pain and doesn't work.

I've had very positive results with my Canon PIXMA IP8500. Canon put out new drivers very quickly.
I'm getting great photo printing from the MBP, either directly hooked up to the printer or via wireless printer sharing with my PowerMac. Borderless printing works well.
I also like the Canon's double-sided print feature for documents -- saves a lot of paper.

  • UAG problems with OSX - same problem with Mac Mail and Outlook 2011 (via EWS)

    Hi folks,
I'm trying to fix the last snagging issue I have with OSX clients in a UAG / Exchange 2010 deployment:
When trying to connect Mac Mail or Outlook 2011 the connections are very slow to start up, both at initial config and thereafter.
On connection I see lots of the same error re Session Cookies in UAG and no connection in the mail client. If I leave it for a few minutes, sometime many minutes, the errors stop and I eventually get a working connection.
    The error is:
"Sesson Attempted to Access Restricted Application"
User with source IP address x.x.x.x  tried to access application Exchange EWS that was restricted that was restricted for the session. This might indicate an intrusion attempt by misusing the session cookie.
Has anyone got any suggestions on how to fix this ?
    Many thanks
    Steve

Ruud, no, we didn't find a solution, or rather our solution (so far) is to tell users not to use Mac Mail and to use Outlook 2011 instead, which seems to work fine (after some Office updates!)...and we haven't upset anyone with that requirement
    (yet).
There are some very long discussions on Apple support forums about the whole Mavericks / Mac Mail / Exchange 2010 issues.
I do hope to have another go at this problem sometime soon, I'm sure there must be a solution (and my money says it relates our hardware load balancers).

  • External Monitor Stopped Working with OSX but fine with XP

I have a viewsonic Monitor that im connecting to mbp via hdmi-dvi.
It has been working fine for the last 9-10months but has all of a sudden just stopped being detected.
If i Boot up in windows i have no problems as the monitor is detected fine, but with OSX 10.5.8 all i get is the Grey/blue screen change on the mbp when its connected to mbp or when monitor powered on or off.
There is no change to external monitor though.
I have tryed resetting the PRAM
when i go into sys pref/display, it does not detect a second monitor
I have been looking around for a few hrs now with no luck, any help would be great

Have tryed having monitor unpluged for a whole day and that didnt work, cant see any reset button on monitor.
tryed resent PRAM and PMU, tryed booting in safe mode, tryed booting from OSX disc
    but didnt quite understand :
"If you see video when started up from disc, you may have corrupted software. You can use the Archive and Install feature of the Mac OS X installer to reinstall. This kind of installation gives you a fresh version of Mac OS X, but you don't lose any data from the computer as your old information is all archived."
it just booted up and asked if i wanted to install another copy of OSX.
only thing i havnt tryed from the above help is the rm command part of the out of range mac mini, and im a little cautions about that
-i can still use it fine via bootcamp, i just have to go into video settings and tell it to use dual monitors, is there anything like that on osx ? only thing i can find is the display button in sys pref and that only gives me the option to detect displays which it dont do very well.
    Thanks

  • Having problems with OSX and mail with the servers?

Having problems with OSX and the mail servers?  Seems to be happening more and more?

    Hello,
Who is your eMail provider, the part after the @ sign?
In Mail's Window Menu, choose Connection Doctor, any red dots for status, if so what is the message?
Then click the Show Details button & Check again.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, use Keychain First Aid under the Keychain Menu item, then either check the Password under that item, change it, or delete it and start over.
    You may have multiple entries.
Open Keychain Access in Utilities, enter the part after the @ sign in the search bar, hit enter
The Password rejection can confuse people since it's a catch all meaning...
This Password, Username, Authentication method... is not recognized on this Port to this Server, more than one entry in Keychain for each in/out entry, or a server end problem.
If using a browser to login via WebMail works it's not Name or Password, but one of the other ones.
    The receiving email ports are:
    IMAP is port 143
    IMAP-SSL is port 993
    POP is port 110
    POP-SSL is port 995
    Outgoing ports are...
SMTP and SMTP-SSL is on ports 25, 587 and 465. Port 587 has to be SSL, and port 465 is enforced TLS-wrapped and is generally used by Outlook users.

  • Problems with iPhoto on MacBookPro with Snow Leopard

I am new to Mac and have just got a MacBook Pro with Snow Leopard. When importing my photos and videos to iPhoto i sometimes get the following error:
iPhoto cannot import your photos because there was a problem writing to the volume containing your iPhoto library.
can anyone tell me how to fix this or why it is happening as it is really annoying - as well as not being able to play my movie files in any format...
    Many thanks

    Welcome to the Apple Discussions.
    Where is your Library stored?
    Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
    If that fails:
    Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.

  • Booting with Sata 3 SSD, use Intel chip or Marvell chip?

The is my first SSD (Plextor PX-M2 Series PX-128).  I plan on using it as my boot drive.  Does it make a difference if I use the Intel 6g/s Sata or the Marvell 6g/s connectors?
I'll be using the MSI Z68A-GD65 (G3) board.
    Thank you.

From what I've read it's better to use the Intel, you can try both though.

  • S-Video adapter and analog TV works with OSX 10.5 but not Boot Camp 2.1(XP)

I bought a mini-DVI to S-video or composite adapter to use with an older analog TV. Works great with OSX 10.5 no problems. However, I currently have Windows XP running with Boot Camp 2.1 and it wont work with the TV. If I ever get an image it's three black and white fuzzy and distorted iterations of the monitor.
Since it works with OSX but not with XP i'm thinking its some sort of boot camp issue and not a problem with the hardware or adapter. Therefore, it should be solvable, right? Does anybody know how to fix this? Will upgrading to snow leopard and boot camp 3.1 solve it?

Perform a custom install from the Mac OS X 10.5 disks and install only that component if possible; if not, use Pacifist to install it. In either case, rerun the combo updater for your Mac OS X version afterwards.

  • HP LaserJet 3 compatible Epson worked with OSX 10.4, but broke w/ 10.6

Hi. I have a mac mini intel which used to run OSX 10.4. The printer is an Epson ActionLaser 1500 laserprinter (very old), which is running in a compatibility mode for the HP LaserJet 3. I was able to but a USB-to-parallel port adapter, and this printer was working fine with this set-up under OSX 10.4 after configuring the printer to work through CUPS. This was by selecting the printer in CUPS under 10.4 then selecting the HP LaserJet 3 driver. Worked fine.
I updated the system software (clean install) to OS X 10.6, and now I can no longer get the printer to work using the same USB-to-parallel port adapter and the same general setting.
Under 10.6, attempting to set-up through the standard "Add Printer" preferences panel shows a printer "USB2.0-Print" but waits perenially, with a message "Printer is offline." Selecting the driver manually from a list via "Select Printer Software...", the printer still cannot be added to the list of available printers.
Trying via CUPS under OSX 10.6 (the way I got it to work under 10.4), presents a printer option "USB2.0-Print (USB2.0-Print)" which when trying to add the printer, connects to "usb://Unknown/USB2.0-Print?location=1d100000." I can once again select the compatible HP LaserJet 3 driver here (since the printer is running in compatibility mode) which was the one that I used before under 10.4. In this case, the printer is added to the available printers list in various applications and in the "Print and Fax" preferences pane. However, when I then try to print a document, the print queue for the newly added printer opens, and the job is added to the list, but the printing goes nowhere and is stalled with the notifications "Printer is offline" and "Printer offline."
I tried resetting the printing system, rebooting, and even installing usbtb. Usbtb wasn't able to recognize the printer either, and when trying to select a driver manually during the usbtb install, HP LaserJet 3 wasn't an option. Still, no dice.
I have read on the internet, that the "usb://Unknown/USB2.0-Print?location=1d100000" location indicates that the printer is not recognized.
I was able to look into the old leftover system files for OSX 10.4 remaining in "Previous systems" after the upgrade, and to open Library/Preferences/org.cups.printers.plist . This shows a device uri of usb://Unknown/USB2.0-Print%20?serial=0 for a printer with the name of my printer in my old install when it used to work under 10.4 . Obviously, this is not looking the same as what CUPS is coming up with now.
Is there a configuration-based solution to this problem?
If not, would a different adapter work? Can anyone recommend a USB-to-parallel or USB-to-serial adapter (my printer has both parallel and serial ports) that will cooperate with my printer and OSX 10.6 with a minimum of fuss? I'd rather not use usbtb but will try again if I have to. I'm somewhat concerned that usbtb may not work with this printer because neither the HP LaserJet 3 nor the Epson ActionLaser 1500 were presented to me as driver options when trying to install usbtb.

when you add the printer via cups, are you able to add the "?serial=0" ?
    ie usb://Unknown/USB2.0-Print?serial=0?location=1d100000

Current Firefox versions require a Mac with an Intel processor and OS X 10.6 (Firefox 16 runs on Intel Mac OS X 10.5).

  • Dell Printers with OSX and Apple iBook G4

I recently made the switch from a desktop Dell to an Apple notebook. I have not been able to configure my printer with my new Mac. When I try to setup the printer, there is a huge list of possible printer manufacturers, but no Dell. Are Dell printers compatible with OSX? If so, how do I install it?
    My dell printer model: A920
    Thanks for the help.
    -Mac rookie

The A920 is made for Dell by Lexmark.
It is virtually identical to the X1150.
The relevant Lexmark X1150 driver (from information posted on these forums) does not work with the A920.

  • Is iMac6.1 compatible with OSX 7?

In order to use the latest version of Adobe Lightroom I need to upgrade my 24" iMac from OSX 10.6.8 to at least OSX 10.7.  Unfortunately, it is not compatible with OSX 10.8, so I'm wondering if it is compatible with OSX 10.7.

Mac OS X Lion System Requirements
In order to install Mac OS X 10.7 you will need:
Intel Core 2 Duo, Core i3, Core i5, Core i7, or Xeon processor
    2GB of RAM
Mac OS X 10.6.6 or later with the Mac App Store installed
At least 4GB of additional disk space to accommodate the download, but more is obviously recommended
Lioin is no longer availalbe at the App Store, so you will need to call Apple > Contacting Apple for support and service

I have a G4 with OSX 10.2 and my printer died.  New printers only seem to work with 10.4.11 and newer - can I upgrade my G4 enough to use a new printer?

    Aha!
Well in outer Mongolia ASAP means something totally different and involves weaving tent fabric from camel hair so that has taken me a bit of time....  However if you have the patience of a saint and the compassion of Mother Theresas' more helpful sister then....
So it would appear I have the following supersonics:
    OSX 10.2.1
    60 Gb HD
    G4 dual processor 1GHz
Now the critical issue here is that I get the computer up to speed enough to be compatible with a modern photo printer - which I think needs to be 10.4.11 or even 10.5
Any assistance would be most gratefully and humbly recieved.

MacBook Pro 8,1 – Intel Core i5 – 2.23 GHz (early 2011) New with OSX 10.6 – current on all updates.
I successfully installed rEFit. I used Boot Camp to install Win 7.  All was great.
Then installed debian 6.  Somehow after the debian install and restart (I know this sounds crazy) but I am now reduced to Win 7 only. rEFit is not present when rebooting nor is OSX or debian. Further, I am unable to force the install DVD to launch when rebooting, by holding C, D or F8.  The Option key brings me to the grey screen with a padlock. I have attempted the root and local pw- no go. Restart holding D takes me to the windows boot manager. I have attempted several options within the Advanced Options; including – Repair Your computer, safe mode and “last known good config,” All of which did nothing.
I can see all my OSX files within win7. I tried to install the OSX within windows. Ya right, that did nothing..
I only desire to get back to OSX...
    What are my options??

Yes, you royally hosed up your machine.
You should first try to get your files off, any way you can to a external drive.
Your going to need to hold c and boot from the disk that came with your computer and a couple of screens in under the menu is a option for Disk Utility.
Select your drive and Erase with Security Option Zero, format the drive HFS+ Journaled and when that's finished (about a hour or so) then quit and install OS X from the installer.
I hope this works, but I suspect it won't. Others have hosed their machines trying to use a Linux disk without proper partition formatting too.
Another option might be to use another Mac to c boot off the Snow Leopard disk and install OS X onto a external drive, take that to the problem Mac and try holding option and booting off of it to erase your internal drive.
    You could replace the drive.
    frederick s wrote:

Is this holding option while booting?
There was someone else around here who hosed their Mac with a Linux disk too. Try to find it.
