Printhead Missing/defective 6600 Officejet

I have had to replace the ink cartirages in my printer. When I replaced the color cartirages several weeks ago it had a message that the "Print Heads" were missing or defective. I followed the shut-down procedure and that seemed to fix the issue.
Today had to change the black and the same message appeared. I followed the same procedure but it hasn't fixed the problem.
I also will note that these messages only appeared while trying to make copies. If I printed directly from computer there were no error messages.
I have bought HP ink, at a much higher price I will state, to avoid any problems. I can also guess that this is a very frequent problem HP has due to the number of direct links to troubleshooting the problems. I hope you can help with this issue

Hi bshopf,
I see that you are getting the error message that the "Print heads are missing or defective".
I can help you.
Make sure the printer is connected directly to a wall outlet. (don't use a power hub or a surge protector) This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help this situation.
I have provided some documents, to see if it will help resolve this issue.

I have a new Officejet 6000 that works fine, but occasionally reports "Printhead: Missing or Damaged". When this happens, I just open the lid and close it again and it seems to work fine again. What could cause this? Is it a serious problem? Thanks.

Finally had chance to complete the form and make the call.   After going thru all the information provided on the form, I was transferred to another, expert section - something like that.  Volume of call was very poor, brief exchange - than got disconnected.   I assumed he would run through the procedure, open latch, unplug, etc.
May not be worth the effort, if could find the recept I would return to Sams Club.
    Thnaks for the help.

Here is a link that addresses the error message that you are getting on the product. If this does not fix the issue. One is looking at product replacement as the printhead is not a replaceable part. If you are still in warranty, HP may replace the printer at no cost to you. I'll link the information to get in touch with them below. The link will take you to a form to fill out. Once you fill it out and it is processed, it will give you the printers warranty information, a case number, and the phone number to call.

  • How to download repair of "missing WIA" for officejet J4550 All in one printer

    officejet J4550, all in one
    Problem:  message states "missing WIA"
I'm missing my installation disk and would like to download the solution to repair/update/install the WIA.
how to download repair of "missing WIA" for officejet J4550 All in one printer

    HI knewsomga,
WIA is Windows Image Acquisition, it is a proprietary Microsoft driver model and application programming interface (API) for Microsoft Windows Me and later Windows operating systems that enables graphics software to communicate with imaging hardware such as scanners, digital cameras and Digital Video-equipment. - Source
     Please follow the instructions below.
Please hold down the windows flag key and the R to open the Run box.
    Type services.msc and press Enter
    Locate Windows Image Acquisition (WIA)
    Right click and open Properties
Stop the service from the General tab and then Start it again
Verify that the Startup type is set to Automatic rather then manual
Also, look for 'Shell Hardware Detection' in the list of services. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service, and make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically from its properties.
Locate the 'Remote Procedure Call (RPC)' in the list of services. If it is not enabled/started, make sure to enable/start the service, and make sure the Startup Type set as Automatically as well.
If the issue persist, the HP Print and Scan Dr might help, otherwise I suggest contacting Microsoft.
Click here to download and run the utility > HP Print and Scan Doctor
    I hope this helps.

    Hi @sparky126
I would like to help you with your officejet 6500. I understand you are seeing a message stating the printhead is missing or damaged. Please use the following document to troubleshoot the issue as it pertains to this very issue; 'Printhead Problem' or 'Printhead Appears to be Missing or Damaged' Message Displays on the Printer ....
If the issue persists, you can call HP to see if they have a printhead available ad for how much, and also discuss your out of warranty options. HP may be able to offer you a discount on a newer model instead if you investing the money in to a printhead. It is entirely possible the issue is not the printhead and is instead the contacts or firmware of the printer.
If you are in Canada or US call 800 474 6836, or you can Contact HP Worldwide.
    I hope this helps.

  • Printhead issues with HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP

I have a HP Officejet Pro X476dw MFP at my home office that I use for when I work from home. The printer was purchased about 8 months ago but get very little usage as its just used by me a couple of days a week at most when I stay home and work. I freezes once in a while like I seen other people complain about but today a whole section of the printheads stopped working completely, there are no streak just a white stripe going down all my documents. I tried cleaning the print heads and then it gave me an error telling me to restart the printer. I did and re ran the printhead cleaning utility. It finished the second time but when the report page printed out it was still the same. I think that the print head on that part of the paper migh have just died. This is really annoying since my last HP Printer was still going strong about 10 years after I purchased it and this one that I paid top dollar in comparison to my other options is pretty much useless after exactly only 2016 printed pages, I just replaced the first black cartridge last week. Has this happened to any body else, is there a way to fix it? The image below is the printout i got after the printhead cleaning showing the write stripe I get on every document I print or copy.

  • Missing HP Utility (Officejet Pro 8600 Plus); need to reinstall - cannot uninstall printer software

I had to wipe my iMac and resinstall IOS Mavericks (10.9.5).  Printer (Officejet Pro 8600 Plus, 9N11g) is working, but will no longer scan (double-clicking icon results in "original item cannot be found") and the HP utility icon on dock is missing, replaced with a "?."  I located directions to uninstall printer software so I can reinstall... but there is no longer any HP folder or "HP Uninstaller" on my Mac HD.  Neither is there an HP folder within Library/Printers folders.  Spotlight search shows no HP or Hewlett-Packard folders on my hard drive.
I have downloaded an "HPPPrinterDrivers3.0.dmg" and "HP-Injket-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.37.dmg," one of which I'm hoping will contain updated software/drivers to reinstall the printer and hopefully the HP Utility so I can regain scanning function, but I cannot figure out how to remove the current printer software, and I do not know if those are the currect files to use.  I understand just deleting the printer will not suffice.
Can anyone provide step-by-step instructions on how to remove the software as well as installation (since I am unclear if I have the correct dmg files)?  Thank you.

    Hi,
First I would suggest repairing the disk permissions, then try reinstalling the HP Software.
Follow the steps below to repair the disk permissions:
    1. Open the the Applications folder.
    2. Go to the Utilities folder.
    3. Double-click on Disk Utility.
    4. Select the hard drive containing the boot volume.
    5. Go to the First Aid tab and select Repair Disk Permissions.
Note: This process may take several minutes depending on the Mac and amount of permissions that need to be repaired. The Progress Log will indicate when the process has been completed.
Once you are done, run the HP-Injket-SW-OSX-Mavericks_v12.34.37.dmg file and follow the steps on screen, be sure to select the HP Scan option while installing to get full functionality of the software.
Please try the steps above and let me know the results,
    Shlomi

  • HP 6600 officejet

Have a new HP6600.  WHen I want to FAX something out, it will take about 3-4 sheets of paper, and then show the HP circle in the printer monitor, and then take FOREVER to FAX it.  Actually, I'm not sure if it has something to do with the printer FAX or that's all it knows to do.  It makes FAX'ing both tedious and undesirable!

    Hello @harleydayz ,
I have some of my own ideas in mind that may help you with the faxing issues you are facing with your Officejet 6600.
    1. Update the firmware: Getting the Latest Firmware and Product Updates
    2. Power reset the unit and ensure the printer is plugged in directly to the wall outlet, avoiding power bars and surge protectors. This ensures the printer is receiving full power and may help greatly.
Press the Power button to turn on the product.
With the product turned on, disconnect the power cord from the rear of the product.
Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet.
    Wait at least 15 seconds.
Plug the power cord back into the wall outlet.
Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the product.
If the product does not turn on by itself, press the Power button to turn it on.
    3. Follow the steps in this guide: Cannot Send or Receive Faxes
Please let me know the outcome after all of the troubleshooting and we can go from there.
    Happy Wednesday

  • Printhead error on HP OfficeJet Pro 6830

My OfficeJet Pro 6830 is showing a printhead error of 0xc19A0020. What should I do?

Hi  I'd advise calling HP Support as it's likely you'll need a replacement printer under warranty. Can you please let us know how you get on?Thanks, Ciara

  • How many copies should I get before needing to replace printhead on a HP Officejet Pro 8500A??

My printer has started printing the first page of a document but the 2nd and subsequent pages are either only partially inked or blank.  If I wait a few minutes between pages then I have a better chance of getting a good printed document.  What could be wrong?  I purchased new printheads less than a year ago and I would imagine I average maybe 75 printed sheets per month tops.  I've tried cleaning the printheads a couple of times but that doesn't seem to make any difference.  Any ideas?

    Hi @JACofAZ
