'Printhead Problem' on week-old HP Officejet Pro 6830

I purchased a HP Officejet Pro 6830 for around $130 only a week ago to be used at home for my study requirements. I was anticipating that this printer would be reliable and, for the price tag, last me a little over a week..
Unfortunately 7 days after purchasing, my printer has displayed the message 'There is a problem with the printhead 0xc19a0023'.
With very little instruction on how to solve such an issue I have spent hours searching online forums, the HP website and beyond. I have turned off my printer, 'reset' it, attempted to clean the printheads all to no avail and resulting in a colossal waste of time. Unfortunately your call centre is also closed so I am stuck without a way of printing my resources for tomorrow.
What can I do to solve this problem?

@Sarah204, Welcome to the forums!
I read your post about the error code "0xc19a0023" you are receiving, along with the message that there is a problem with the printhead. To be frank with you, the troubleshooting steps you have tried for this type of issue have been all completed. I would next suggest trying to call HP's Technical Support directly again to let them know about the error code and the steps you have tried, and they will most likely issue a replacement printer.

  • Officejet Pro 6830 all in one - screen stuck on "checking for printer updates"

    Windows 7 X64 install
I ran through the entire installation process and while the printer will print and will scan - the printer is hung on the message "checking for printer updates" with a red x below that message.  I let it set all night and no change.  The printer is setup as a wired network connection and can be seen with any of the tools.  I have not errors on my system.  I have uninstalled the software and reinstalled twice without success.  I tried running a firmware update, but the firmware update states that I have the latest firmware rev.  I even unplugged the printer and plugged it directly into the wall - n o change.  Evertime I startup the printer screen, just hangs on that screen.
    Please help.

I have the exact same problem with my new HP Officejet Pro 6830 printer.  Please could you provide a solution else I guess it will have to go back to the shop as I only picked it up this afternoon.
Setup went ok and it even managed to print a couple of pages.  But next time it started up (with wired ethernet connection) this problem occurred and happens every time ever since.  (It is possible to use the printer for printing and scanning via PC, but the whole time its display is showing the "checking for printer updates" message.)
This even happens if the ethernet cable is not connected on startup (meaning the printer cannot be used as a standalone printer / copier either at the moment).
If I press the red cross (which I guess cancels the update searching) then I get a blue screen saying "B871634E" for a second or so, afterwhich I get a black screen with the message "There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On." and cannot do anything else.  (The problem is the same after doing a printer off then on - even when following the "hard reset" procedure already mentioned.)
On checking the firmware version via the PC utility (while the printer sits there "checking for printer updates"), the PC utility app reported that the firmware was the latest version.

  • Problems with my printer HP Officejet pro 8600 Plus + Yosemite

Hi got problems with my printer HP Officejet pro 8600 Plus till I installed Yosemite it is not recognized so what can I do now.. No new drivers found by HP

    Thanks for this AnnRT!
I've spent the best part of a day trying to figure this out. Everything was fine and then one day nothing worked! I have narrowed the issue down to Bonjour via WiFi as everything worked fine via USB, and via IP over WiFi.
I've now set a static IP for the printer and things seem to be working fine again
    Thanks!

  • Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Ink Cartridge Problem Message

Have/will soon "had" instant ink cartridge service.  Printer did not recognize that the black ink was out so I didnt get a black ink cartridge.  Couldnt wait for the mail service, so purchased all new HP cartridges and installed.
"Ink Cartridge Problem" Message came up and is now stuck in the machine, can't clear it.  The machine will not recognize any of the 4 brand new HP inks; that menu item has little red X for each cartridge and each one shows empty.....
Removed all cartridges, cleaned all contacts, unplugged machine, did a "reset" on the menu via HP phone technician.....nope, nada, nothing.
Did all above SEVERAL times.   Called HP back..."40 minutes wait time" .. wth...
Anything else?  Does HP have to reset my machine to "recognize" regular cartridges???
Thoughts, suggestions?  (Besides don't buy HP again....I will not....I should know better by now!)
    Thanks all.

    Hi @RNOjetnow ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue with needing the drivers for the 10.6 Snow Leopard OS.  You should be able to install the Apple Drivers just by connecting the USB cable.

  • Problem on installing network printer Officejet Pro x451dw

Problem on installing network printer Officejet Pro x451dw
Hello everyone. I'm trying to install the above printer on my PC belonging to a network of about 7 pc. I should say that on the PC in question is running Windows XP Professional SP3 and that the printer has already been installed on other computers in the network and is functioning. I tried using both the driver CD that can be found on the HP website and they both do not give errors during instalation, indeed, perfectly detect the printer and its IP address, so the installation finishes successfully, but the press the test page, the waiting time extends until the error message "unable to print the document." I also made an attempt with the software "hp scan doctor" and also this does not detect errors up to the test of the final print, that does not go through. At this point the software calls to make a print "internal" that this time occurs. The suggestion is to uninstall and then reinstall the HP software, but this intervention does not have a positive outcome. How else could I do attempt ??? I ask for help! Thank you for your attention. regards Roberto
Problema su installazione di rete stampante Officejet Pro x451dw
Salve a tutti. Chiedo aiuto ! Grazie per l'attenzione. Saluti Roberto

  • HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One series Scanning Paper Size problem

I only use A4 paper but it seems that when I use the paper feed to scan a document to the computer, the document scans in a default Letter Size, rather than A4, thereby missing some of the information at the bottom of the page.
I would like to alter the default on the printer to ALWAYS default to A4. Can this be done? I was using the scan option on the printer screen rather than from the computer, where I would have to manually change the paper size every time.
    Thank you

Welcome to the HP Community, @Splatt13 ,
I read your message about wanting your scans to default to A4 size, instead of Letter. I was playing around with the HP Scan software and saved the image below for you to see. Try opening up the software from your computer, and change the scanning options in there to whichever settings you want and that should help you scan as A4 size.
Side note: Ensure you have the Full Feature driver and software installed to access the software options: HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Printer series Full Feature Software and Drivers
    Good luck

  • Officejet Pro 6830 slow to print

My officejet pro 6830 takes over 1.5 minutes to print the first page upon initiating a print job. During this time I hear the printhead adjusting. This seems like a very long time. Is this normal?

    Hi @VexedHPUser
    Perhaps the Microsoft Fix it utility will help;
    What it fixes
You are unable to install a printer, connect to a printer, or print more than one job at a time
You receive an error indicating your Print Spooler service is experiencing problems
You receive an error indicating your is not the default printer
You receive an error indicating: cannot be contacted over the network
Identify if your printer is turned off
Identify if your printer toner is low or empty causing your print job to appear faint or it does not print at all
Identify if your printer paper is low or empty
Identify if the printer has a paper jam which is preventing it from operating normally
Identify if a print job that is in the print queue is preventing other print jobs from printing
Identify if you need to update your print driver
You receive an error stating that your Plug and Play printer %PRINTERNAME% has encountered a driver problem

  • My new HP officejet pro 6830 crashes when I connect to my Asus RT-N66U router

OfficeJet Pro 6830 crashes when connected to network (Asus RT-N66U router)
I've just taken delivery of an OfficeJet Pro 6830. I've installed the ink cartridges and it seems to be able to print copies and test pages, but I can't get it to connect to my network. Here's what I've tried:
    Using the Wireless Setup Wizard
I selected my network from the list and entered my WPA key. It says it's trying to connect, then the following happens:
    1. Briefly (for less than a second) a screen pops up showing that it has successfully connected to the network.
    2. Briefly (for less than a second) the screen flashes blue with a "power" icon and the text "B8B2A4F8" (which I presume is an error code).
    3. The screen display changes to "Printer Error: There is a problem with the printer. Turn the printer Off, then On."
    4. After restarting the printer, it complains that it has not been shut down properly.
Any further attempts to connect yield the same results.
    Ethernet connection
If I power the printer on while it is connected via an Ethernet cable to my network, after about 10 seconds it crashes as described above (steps 2 and 3) without me doing anything at all.
I did manage to get it to connect to a WiFi hotspot on my mobile phone (and I checked for firmware updates, but unfortunately there were none available), so it seems there's something about my network that the printer doesn't like. I have no idea what that could be, however. Does anyone have any ideas?

    Hello Shawnondrums,
    Welcome to the HP Forums.
I see that you are having an issue with the printer shutting down when attempting to connect to the wireless network.
A very important step that gets easily over looked is, please make sure that you have the printer power cable connected directly to a wall outlet and not a power bar/strip. Here is a document that uses a LaserJet printer as an example but it is meant for HP products in general. Please click on the following link that explains the Issues when Connected to an Uninterruptible Power Supply/Power Strip/Surge Protector.
Once the printer is back on, please use the on/off button to do a proper shut down and restart.  This will also do a semi power reset on the printer.
If the troubleshooting does not help resolve your issue, I would then suggest calling HP's Technical Support to see about further options for you. If you are calling within North America, the number is 1-800-474-6836 and for all other regions, click here: click here.

We just installed the HP Officejet Pro 6830 e-All-in-One Series.  The screen on the printer does nothing but spin around with the notation that it is "Checking for printer updates".   Why is this happening?  Like I said, we just set it up and I am turning to this form because I can't find a Support contact phone number.  I've turned the printer off and then back on. Hi Kimberly,
While the same drivers being used, those should be installed on a server using the command line and not through a standard graphical installation.
