Printing 4X6 Borderless Photos on Epson R200

For some reason, I am unable to print a borderless 4X6 photograph using my Epson R200 printer. All other photos print without any trouble, just not the borderless prints ... anyone have any suggestions?

I was having problems with an Epson Stylus Photo 890 after buying the 4x6 instead of the perforated 4x6 paper and received the following response from Epson tech support.
Thank you for contacting the Epson Connection.
For borderless printing in OS X.3 please follow the steps below to download
and install:
1) Open your PRINT SETUP UTILITY (you can open this by opening your HARD
DRIVE, APPLICATIONS, UTILITY, PRINTER SETUP UTILITY). Make sure your
printer is powered on at this point.
2) If your printer is listed, simply highlight it and click DELETE. Once
the printer has been removed from the Print Center, click the ADD button.
If your printer is not listed, click the ADD button.
3) In the window that appears, select EPSON USB from the drop-down menu,
and then select your printer. Once your printer has been selected, click on
the name to highlight it.
4) Once the printer is highlighted, a Page setup will appear at the bottom
of the print center window. Simply click the drop-down menu and select ALL.
**PLEASE NOTE: ALL MUST BE SELECTED FOR BORDERLESS PRINTING SUPPORT. **
Then click ADD.
5) You will now see several listings in the Printer list for the printer.
Highlight the appropriate printer for your printing. For example, Stylus
Photo 900(Roll paper) or Stylus Photo 900(Sheet Feeder-Borderless)
depending on what type of media you are selecting. Then click MAKE DEFAULT
on the toolbar or click PRINTERS on the menu and click MAKE DEFAULT. Close
the Print Center.
6) Please ensure you have the correct paper size selected in the printer
driver under PAGE SETUP and that the correct printer option is selected in
the menu listed under FORMAT FOR(these two must be the same, if the Sheet
Feeder-Borderless is the default printer, if must be the same in this
Format for option) and try printing.
If you require further assistance with this particular issue, please ensure
all of our previous correspondence is contained in your reply, so we can

If you have a different technical support issue, please submit another
E-form via our website (http://www.epson.com), and we will respond in a
timely manner. Thank you again for contacting Epson.

I have HP Deskjet 1660 printer. When I want to print 4x6 bordeless photo there is still a border on the bottom of photo. Tried many times with no success.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

The Deskjet 1660 cannot print full borderless on all 4 sides, there is a bottom margin of ~0.46".  To get a borderless print use "4x6in photo paper with tabs" such as here.  That paper has a microperf removable 1/2" tab that is removed after printing leaving a clean 4x6 borderless print.

  • Iphoto 08 Will not print 4x6 borderless prints to HP 3210xi All In One

    Hi Folks,
I've just installed Iphoto 08 and upgraded to the latest version 7.1.2. I've also just installed the latest HP 9.7 Mac drivers released to support 10.5.2 on 2/4/08. However I can not get Iphoto 08 to print 4x6 borderless prints to my HP 3210xi All In One Photo Smart printer.
I'd appreciate any feedback/suggestions from anyone who is able to get Iphoto 08 to print properly.
    Jim

    Jim:
I don't have an solution but this printing problem with HD all in ones has been discussed many times. Do a search in this forum for HP All In One or HP 3210xi or other similar search terms and you'll find the various threads where it is discussed. I don't remember if a solution was found in any of them as I don't have an HP and didn't pay much attention.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 08 libraries and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • 4x6 borderless photos w/out cropping

Hello. I am wondering how to print 4x6's w/out cropping the photos? Cropping cuts off important aspects of some of my photos and I really need to be able to keep it all.
Is there anyway anyone knows of to fit it all in? I definitely don't want to end up with the two white lines that appear on either side when not cropping.
    Thanks. Will

    Will,
If you print your photo on a larger photo paper you would get the whole print.
You would then have to do your own cutting around the photo to get the borderless print.
Digital cameras almost all take images in the 4:3 ration. some do allow you a choice like 2:3 for 4x6 prints. If you only take digital images then you would have to crop the image yourself before printing to a 4x6 paper because the ratio size is different unless you have a newer camera that gives you the 2:3 choice.
If you scanned images from a 35 mm camera or got a CD of images from a photo processing store of your 35mm images then no cropping is needed as they are the correct ratio to print 4x6 prints.
On the same line, a lot of online photo album/print sites now give you the option of getting 4:3 ratio prints from your digital camera which means there is no cropping done to your image. The entire image is printed.
When you shoot your image just make sure that you don't have anything important on the edge of your view. This is kind of hard to explain, but always get more in your view than what you need so you don't have to crop off anything important to get your 4x6 print.
If you shoot at a lower pixel number it would not change the ratio.

  • Windows XP won't print to Mac Tiger w/Epson R200

I have Windows XP successfully networked through a router to a Mac OS X 10.4.6 with an Epson R200. I've successfully assigned the Printer to the Windows XP.
    I followed these instructions
    http://www.ifelix.co.uk/tech/3012.html
The XP DOES send the job to the Mac. It shows up in the Printer Jobs on the Mac but the job is Stopped.
I've tried using an installed Epson R200. I also tried using the Apple Color LaserWriter as per the above instructions.
    Any Help?

Hello, I have been trying to get a decent printed photo (6" x 4" high gloss photo paper) using the above. All I seem to get are very poor quality prints. There does not seem to be a way of telling iphoto what medium I am using or the correct resolution I wish to use. Can anyone help !

Welcome to the Apple user to user assistance forums
If paper type is available it is in the printer specific options on the second print window - select the photo(s) you want to print, click print, select the printer, paper size and print size and click print - in the resulting window any available printer specific options will be in the pull down line toward the bottom of the window - if they are not click on the gray triangle to the right of the printer name to open the full window -- note that the available printer specific options are controlled by the printer driver - not iPhoto

  • Trying to print borderless photos on F380

I have a deskjet F380 and HP photosmart essential software.  I have been trying to print 4x6 borderless photo's.  Each time I try I keep getting a white border on the righthand side of the photo.  I have checked that all the settings are for borderless prints but I'm not getting the result I want!!
    Can anyone help me????
    Thanks
    Sarah

the settings are correct.  if I put paper in the main tray it prints the picture on paper, not photo paper.  I printed a test page last night and it printed on the photo paper.  I still get the same message when trying to print the photo.  Thanks

  • Printing w/ Epson R200 an I still have hair

After days of trying to print with Aperture to my Epson R200, I wasn't have much success. I followed all the rules, change the setting in the Epson R200 perfences to Photo RPM, and turn off color management. Back in forth etc. Print borderless was usless and I was having color banding issues and my prints looked horrible. I tried everything!
    Untill i did more research.
Conclusions to all of the headaches and sleepless nights...
For some reason when you add the Epson R200 to your printer set up using the "plus" key it adds the wrong drivers and wrong color proflies. It says it's it but it isnt'.
You have to delete the one you added "normally" and go about it another way.
    1. System Pref - Printers and Util
    2. click add printer with plus sign
    3. more printers
    4. choose Epson USB under the drop down menu
    5. click on the Stylus photo .....
    6. under drop down menu for Page setup choose "Sheet Feeder Borderless"
    7. Go back to Aperture and follow all the normal rules of printing.
    MY LIFE HAS CHANGED.
well may be not too much but i've got consitent good looking real bona fide borderless printing now on my trusty R200.
I'm excited and I can finish the christmas gifts that I had in the works!

you probably got the GIMP (open source) drivers, not the Epson supplied drivers. while i applaud the open source community for getting drivers working, their ability to match colors with the epson papers is a horrible mess. Apple should make it more obvious that you're not using the manufacturer's drivers!

  • Printer will not make 4x6 size photos

I just bought an HP Photosmart 8250 printer and I cannot print the 4x6 size photos. The printer instead pulls paper from the letter size tray. I believe it is a problem with the computer because I was able to print a 4x6 photo with just the memory card in the printer and all hook-ups to the computer detached. As far as I know, I have selected the right size paper wherever given the choice. In Mac System Preferences however, I cannot change the "Default Paper Size in Page Setup" to a 4x6 size. Is this the root of my problem? If not, what is?

    Hi,
I think I might know how to fix the probem you are having. I too, just purchased an HP 8250 printer. I found that I had to go into the Advanced menu on the Print dialog box. Pick "Paper Type/Quality" and choose the Photo tray. The default is the "Main Tray" which typically holds your 8 1/2 by 11 paper.
That should have the printer pull from the proper paper tray (4x6 photo tray).
I am using the 4x6 Borderless photo paper that has a removable tab. (didn't now that until I bought it.) However, I'm still having problems getting the printer to print a true borderless print. The only way it will without giving me a white border on the left and right "landscape" or 4" edges is if I pick "Zoom and Crop" which then will do that to the picture.
If you are having that problem or if you know how to fix it, would you let me know. the one thing I am finding with this HP printer and my Mac, is that there are way too many steps when wanting to print a photo from your computer. It's a bit frustrating. I have yet to try printing from a memory card as I have always just printed directly from iPhoto. (previously used an Epson 1280)
    good luck!

  • C5180 Printing from IPhoto 4X6 Borderless

I am having a problem with my HP C5180 trying to print 4X6 borderless. My printer will not go to the photopaper 4X6 paper tray. The printer continues to think that it is to print a 4 X 6 image on regular paper refusing to use the photo paper tray. I have selected everything correctly but no go. I downloaded the latest from HP and if I use their Photo Printer software and print from there, it works but prints the image a little off to one side. If I just print to the 4X6 photo paper using the internal test image and not acess it from my mac it will print just fine. This driver and software are still beta from HP. Anyone else?

Did not see the earlier posts .Thanks

  • Difficulty printing borderless photos for custom sizes

I am finding it difficult to print a borderless photo. When I try to print using the photo paper I have it always prints a border (or does not print in the border - so i guess this is called cropped).
The photo paper is not in the "Paper Size" list of the print dialogue in Preview (or iPhoto). So I specify the size using the "Manage Custom Sizes" option (similar in iPhoto). The size is 89 x 127 mm. In the print preview it looks fine, but when it is printed, a white border (ie, non printed area) crops the whole image. The one side is a 5mm border, with its opposite being 3 and the other two being 3.4.
I have noticed that when I play around with the Paper size, the standard sizes (like A4) for example, all have a "borderless" option (ie, I can select "A4" or "A4 (borderless)"). When A borderless size is selected certain other options are disabled/enabled. For example, the options under the "borderless printing" 'tab' is enabled and the options under the "duplex printing and margins" 'tab' becomes disabled. This is the exact opposite for when I try and specify my paper size. So perhaps this is a factor. (Even though I would have expected the "border" option set to "none" would mean that there would be no border...)
So just to save ppls time, this is what I am doing when I print:
    1. The image is exactly 89x127mm (created with GIMP)
    2. I print using Preview (similar results are achieved in iPhoto, but more pain to get there)
    3. I set the paper size to 8.9 by 12.7cm (see note 1)
    4. I don't change the scale (though i have experimented with all options here and nothing seems to change).
    5. I check that Layout > Border > None is selected. It always is.
    6. I change Quality and Media > Media Type to Glossy Photo Paper. (not that this should matter)
    7. I go to borderless printing tab and note that it is disabled. great.
    8. The preview shows no borders and so I hit print, but the borders come anyway (the image gets cropped).
    Note
I have managed to print borderless photo images with this printer using the supplied photo paper that came with the printer. I don't think i have been able to do it since moving to this new size but I may be wrong...
    Note 1
When I am setting the size in Preview, I can specify the "Non-Printable Areas". I set these to zero, though I note that the 'canon mp640 series' presets are the exact measurements that is the area that does not get printed.
    Note 2
In case it has a bearing on the problem, the printer I am using is a Canon MP640.

I have had some more trials to print without boarders. This time, it was inside of iPhoto. I had made a greeting card and wanted to print to a custom size. but without the ability to select the size as a boarder less size, I was unable to print directly. So instead, I had to save as a pdf > save pdf to iPhoto and then print the image as a photo (instead of a card).

  • Upgraded and lost Epson R200 Borderless printer option

I just upgraded to Tiger on my eMac, and was sailing through everything until I went to print an 8x10 borderless print on my Epson R200. The "sheet-fed_ borderless printer option I used to have was no longer available in any of my apps. I went to print utility to try to add it again and couldn't find it in any list of options, even trying to add it to the list!
Anyone else had this happen or does anyone know what's going on here?
    Thanks,
    Barry

My wife can print to my shared printers from her Win XP box borderless all day long, but my new "worlds most advanced operating system equipped dual 2.7 ghz Mac workstation and my G5 iMac can't print a simple borderless photo to save their lives. Epson r200 and a 2200, gimp and epson drivers. So far the only way I have gotten a borderless print is with a demo of $199 PowerRip software (with a big watermark). This function should be included in Tiger, what is going on. Lets all get on Apples case. Ask them why "it just works" on Windows and not on Mac. (little frustrated...)

I recently purchased this printer and am having problems printing a 4X6 photo borderless and getting the full photo.  Am only getting about a 2X2 1/2" photo instead.  Keep checking my settings to see that I have 4X6 borderless designated in my preference, and I do - but continue to only receive a small photo centered on the paper.
