Printing 4x6 on Epson CX6600 problem

Hi All,
I have been printing 4x6 prints with no problem till last week. Now when I choose the 4x6 borderless option in iPhoto 6 the preview looks fine on the printer settings page but when I choose preview the photo shows up as a 4x6 on letter size paper and that is how it prints. Inserting 4x6 paper I get 1/4 of the picture printed on one edge.
Does anyone have any suggestions? Do you think this is an iPhoto problem or should I reinstall the printer driver?
Thanks for your help in advance.

Thanks, this did help me. The absolutely confounding thing is the print preview you see in the print dialog LIES. This scale to size option is a truly obscure setting nested in the advanced set under a pull down menu. I have never looked at it much less changed it. I have wasted HOURS of time on this simple problem which is quite frustrating as I am normally quite technically proficient.

  • Printing 4x6 photo in iPhoto Problem

    When trying to print a 4x6 in iPhoto, the print image is enlarged and cuts out the outer part of the photo. How can I get it to print the real size?

    A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
    This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

  • Upgraded from 10.2.8 to 10.3 now Epson CX6600 will not work

    Ok fellas (and ladies) here is the story. My mother finally got around to upgrading from 10.2.x to 10.3.0 (now, via online upgrades, 10.3.9 I believe, but the current problem stems from the initial upgrade) only this last week. When she upgraded, she was no longer able to print to her Epson CX6600. It was still present, so to speak, but her iMac (G4)would never connect (just that beautiful pinwheel). Now i am just a new convert to Mac so I have no idea how to fix this. We tried using the uninstall program provided by Epson's install program. When we did this, and then subsequently installed again, it told us everything was still installed. Furthermore, when we went to add the printer back into the printer setup utility, OS X recognized the printer but said the drivers were not present.
    The next thing we did was download the latest drivers. Would you believe the Printer Setup Utility still said no drivers present?
    So does anyone have any ideas? My mother called Epson, they say its Apple's problem (nice fellows over there at Epson). Before I suggest to my mother to plop down the $49 American to talk to someone on the phone about this, I thought I would get the scoop from the real experts.
    Thank you in advance for any time you put into this.
    Cheers

    Hi Again MnchstrCityBlues!
    At this point, the best I can do, is give you instructions, on how to uninstall & reinstall the printer. I know you have already done that, but perhaps you may have missed a file or two.
    I have an Epson C86, so some of the instructions may need to be modified for the CX6600.
    Change my references to C86 to CX6600.
    But the procedure should be the same.
    *Download the most current driver from www.epson.com.
    * Before moving the folder & files listed below, to a "Temporary Epson Trash Folder", open "Printer Setup Utility" and delete the C86.
    * "Quit' "Printer Setup Utility"
    * Move the files (Posted in Capitals) to the "Temporary Epson Trash Folder" on the Desktop
    HD > Applications >
    EPSON PRINTER UTILITY (Alias)
    HD > Users > Your Home > Library > Preferences >
    COM.EPSON.IJPRINTER.UTILITY.PLIST
    COM.APPLE.PRINT.CUSTOMPRESETS.PLIST
    COM.APPLE.PRINT.PRINTCENTER.PLIST
    COM.APPLE.PRINT.PRINTERPROXY.INTERNAL_MODEM.PLIST
    COM.APPLE.PRINT.PRINTINGPREFS.PLIST
    HD > Library > Printers >
    EPSON (Folder) Only move this folder if you have no other
    Epson products
    I also had a "OS X booklet.pdf" (Epson) that I had saved in my "Documents" folder. You will get a new one. After the installation, I replaced it. You may not have saved your original one. It's no big deal, there's really not much in it, In fact I don't remember ever opening it, before today!
    * Quit ALL running Applications
    * "Repair Permissions" using "Disk Utility" in the "Utilities" folder
    * Dig out your Epson C86 "Start Here" instruction quick sheet, for reference
    * Unplug the USB cable from the Mac & then the C86
    * Re-attach the USB cable to the C86 & then the Mac
    * Turn on your C86
    * Double click on: "epson11518.sea.hqx" to unzip (This is the downloaded driver)
    * Double click on: "epson11518.sea" to expand
    * Follow the prompts & instructions
    * When the "Vise" installer opens in a window, double click it to start the install
    * When the installation is complete, turn off the printer & restart your Mac.
    * "Repair Permisions" again
    * Turn on the C86
    * Open "Printer Setup Utility"
    * "You have no printers available" will appear. Click "Add"
    * Select "Epson USB" in the contextual menu
    * Click on "Stylus C86" to highlight
    * Add "Page Setup:" select "All", from the contextual menu
    * Click "Add"
    * Quit "Printer Setup Utility"
    The images below, that are left on the "Desktop", can be trashed, unless you prefer to keep the installer.

    You should be good to go!

  • Printing from iPhoto on Epson CX6600

    Well I have tried printing photos using my Mac for the 1st time since I got it, and I am having terrible trouble.
    I have installed the Intel Compatible Epson CX6600 drivers on my Macbook. I am using Tiger 10.4.8 and iPhoto supplied with the Mac with all the latest updates. Printing from iPhoto (and actually the GIMP) is proving problematic. 1stly is seems to be difficult to orient my pictures to fit 4x6 photo paper and crop in so there are no white borders and also to print the right way around.
    Secondly, the print quality when I finally do print is terrible. The colors are washed out, it's grainy and there are faint lines in the image. Oddly enough, if I print using Windows (parallels) the image quality is perfect. However since I have chosen iPhoto to organise my photographs, it'd be nice to use it.
    I see two issues. One is that the paper size is not shown correctly in the drop down. I get a choice of letter, legal, A4, A5 and then a bunch of codes like W665GH45 or something.
    Second issue is there does not seem to be any 'print quality' option, as I am sure that this is the issue. The image comes out with a print quality similar to "Draft" in windows. In Windows you can change this to high quality or photo quality easily, in OS X I cannot see where this option is.
    Thanks in advance for help.

    Anyone?

  • Dark prints using CS5 & Epson R2400 ongoing problem, now new PC and magenta cast

    Have tried every combination of set up in trying to solve problem. Had One Eye (now defunct lamp) various experts etc etc but compensated for dark prints by having screen lightened to bizarre point. Now having a new PC am faced with massive magenta cast. I really don't want to buy a new printer but have had the dark print problem since I got it. Have spoken to Adobe and Epson at length but eventually washed their hands. I feel it is something to do within the computer set up or Photoshop - don't think its printer problem. All drivers updated regularly. Thought it could be monitor problem but don't really think this is the case.
    Any ideas welcome as I think I have tried everything. Use Windows 7.
    Am retired and not very technically minded!  Serious amateur photographer.

    I have an Epson 1280 printer, and I have the same problem with prints. Part of the problem are the different color profiles in the monitor and the printer. The other problem to deal with is the type of photo paper used. While looking at web sites, I found that the ICC Color Profiles for the printer are on the install disc and are not automatically installed. One of the links describes which folder to install the profiles on both Mac & Windows computers.
    As station_two wrote, calibrate your monitor first.
    Below is a link about calibrating.

    I do not have an exact answer for you because I have not figured it out myself, but here is what I have been doing on my prints. I might recommend that you work on a copy of the original.
    In the Layer floating window, create a New Adjustment Layer by clicking on the half black/half white circle, and choose Hue/Saturation or Color Balance or Selective Color. Because the prints come out too red, you want to increase the green sliders, which is the opposite of red, and/or decrease the red. (Layer>New Adjustment Layer>Color Balance) is another way to do it.
    Under the menu item Image>Adjust Levels. Move the center triangle at the bottom to lighten the mid-range, or use the center dialog box and change it to 1.20 or 1.30, for example.
    Now press Print with Preview (but you really are not going to print).
    When the dialog box comes up, make sure the Print Space: dropdown is set to Epson Paper or whatever you are using.
    I have been using Relative Colorimetric. Press Print. Another dialog box will come up. At the bottom will be a button for Preview, which will generate a preview of what the photo will look like if printed.
    Keep going back to the original and double click on the Adjustment Layer and adjusting it until the Print Preview looks ok.
    Be sure when you actually print that the paper and color settings in the Epson dialog box match your settings in Photoshop. There is a dropdown that has Print Settings or Color. Often they don't match unless you print several photos in a row. I have found printing at the lower settings (less than 360 dpi) also messes up the color.
    It is not an excellent solution, but until I can figure out more, I am in the same boat as you.
    I'd suggest saving the lightening and color adjustments as two different Actions.

  • I've installed Mountain Lion. When I try to print on my Epson R3000, I get a notification of a problem for rasteroescpll.  How can I correct this?

    I installed Mountain Lion.  When I try to print on my Epson R3000 I get a notification that rastertoescpll quit unexpectedly.  How can I fix this?

    Sorry but that's the very driver that I think caused my problem and I'm assuming Elstel's. Yes it's an Epson Stylus Photo R3000. From the posts I've read the new driver is faulty. Driver V9 seems to work temporarily with my Mountain Lion 10.8.4. It worked perfectly when I set up my new printer and installed the provided software. When I started the day to day suddenly it wouldn't print and I had the rastertoescpll error. My assumption is that my "automatic updates" setting updated the software over night and then it woudn't work. I then tried your link from a previous post and installed that upgrade. No change. I've only been able to print this afternoon by re-installing the printer with the provided disk. If  pixies come during the night and I wake up tomorrow morning with that error message again, after screaming, I will then use my TM to go back to where it worked! Very confused. I was really hoping that Yuengdog1983's solution for the others would have helped me but as I said I've always had my computer named.

  • Epson Printer Drivers and Leopard - Epson 740 or Epson RX700 problems

    It seems even after Epson updated their printer drivers Leopard will not all me to print to my Epson Stylus Color 740 AND my Epson RX700, I must choose one over the other.
    If I install the printer drivers from Apple they include drivers for the old Epson Stylus Color 740 and it works fine. The problem is it kills my new Epson RX700 printer. It still works, but I cannot print CDs.
    If I delete the Epson printer drivers from my Library folder and start over with the updated Epson RX700 drivers I can print to the RX700 including to CDs, but they do not offer an Epson Stylus Color 740 printer driver beyond system 9.
    I have tried installing the newer Epson RX700 drivers over top of the Apple installation but the same result happens.
    Can anybody help? I need the old drivers from Apple's system 10.5 installation disk so I can print to my old workhorse Epson 740 and my Apple 630 laser writer pro. But I also would like to print to CDs using my new RX700.

    I have exactly the same problem...I have submitted a query to Epson...but we all know how good support is from companies like Epson and Apple

  • Any Help will be apreciated,  I am having problems printing with my Epson PX720WD using Aperture software.  I am getting banding across the photo equal distances apart (25mm), plus it appears to be printing at high speed.

    When printing on my Epson PX720WD using Aperture 3 I get lines across the photo 25mm apart, it also appears to be printing at high speed.  I have no problems when I print through Epson Easy print.

    Wow - thanks for such a comprehensive post.
    I have Aperture and a 2400 so this information is exceptionally useful to me.
    Again - thanks for caring and sharing

    I am having trouble printing to an Epson XP600.  We have replaced the printer and we are still having the same problem.  When I try to print from Excel, only the color prints.  Any suggestions?

    Has anyone else had issues not being able to print black (such as a document)?  My photos print great, but when I try to print a simple black-ink document, it won't work. Any suggestions?

  • Print quality on Epson Stylus Photo R800

    Hi...
    I'm using Lightroom 3.6 and an Epson Stylus Photo R800. This printer is capable of printing very high quality pictures, as I know by using it for almost 5 years.
    I have bought Lightroom about 6 month ago. I have tried anything I can think off to get those fabulus pictures out of my Epson printer. I alterd color managment settings, changed print resolutions, downloaded new printerdriver, ... Nothing works. Print quality when printing from Lightroom is very poor. Bad colors (dark), stripes over the whole image, it looks like nothing realy.
    One of the things that I noticed is that the maximum resolution for printing in LR is 720 ppi. My Epson is capable of 1550 ppi.
    I see a lot of discussion going about print quality with lightroom... I think however this is a more basic problem. My print qualiti is realy very very bad...
    Does anyone have similar problems or (even better) a hint to a solution?
    Note,
    When I export a picture to .jpg format (I shoot in RAW only), and print this directly from Windows, I do get the perfect picture a was used to... I cannot believe that Lightroom is unable to do the same.
    Thanks!
    Erik.

  • IPad 4 prints small on Epson airprint printer

    Either by using Airprint from Safari or either Airprint or Google Cloud Print (GCP) from Chrome yields an A5-sized printed in the top/middle of the A4 page. I'm trying to print a pdf in A4 format to an A4 page.
    All settings are correct as far as I can find. There's nothing to control anything size-related in Airprint, GCP has settings for papersize and enlarging and such which are all set to normal. Changing them doesn't help anyway.
    I'm getting everything at quarter-size.
    All other printers and even the Samsung Note tablet print fine. Everything is wireless on the same network. Printer is an Epson WF3540***. In the config of the wireless section there's nothing to control page output.
    Is there anything I can do? My iPad is a 16Gb so it's rather strapped for memory. I'd rather not get another app to control something that shouldn't be happening anyway.

    Apparently the problem was temporary.
    Although I had this problem before, this time it was 1 .pdf that only printed to a quarter of its size from the webpage in Chrome using either Airprint or Google Cloud print (GCP). This pdf was generated by a form in that webpage. Printing in GCP, paper size was set to A4, no enlargement was specified and it was set to fill the page, but it still only printed A5 size on an A4 sized paper. Of course none of that can be specified in Airprint. After saving it to iBooks it did print well.
    Other pdf downoaded in Chrome did print fine from Chrome using both Arirprint and Google Cloud Print.
    So I can't isolate the problem well enough. This topic may be closed.

  • Printing 4x6 photos on HP Laserjet 4630. photo paper tray not working?

    I am trying to print 4x6 photos on glossy paper.  My printer has a photo paper tray in addition to a standard letter tray.  When I specify 4x6 borderless glossy paper in the print parameters, the printer keeps pulling from the standard paper tray instead of the photo tray on top of the printer.  This has worked for me in the past, but I haven't used it in a long time.  What must I be doing wrong?

    Hey. I'm a photographer with the C4280.
    This printer takes care of 8.5 x 11's pretty much perfectly. But 4 x 6 not for me on iPhoto or Photoshop.
    So what I did was I set up a pages document with a blank template, set at 4 x 6 inches.
    I dragged rulers about .25inches in and threw in the photo set at 4 x 6 ratio. So... most photos are 4 x 6, just resize it to fit in the rulers.
    I've noticed in most occasions it cuts off the top of the photo document when laid out in portrait.
    What I do is a hit command p, select the printer but choose under the drop box that says "layout" i hit borderless printing, and a selectable box will show up saying "print borderless" and i just clicked it.
    on the document though you might want to make the opacity 10% to save ink. you have to trouble shoot the exact place to set and drag up or down the photo. but once you get it, its reliable the duration the document is open and the printer is on.
    i know its kind of pointless for one, but i had a shoot with live printing on the spot with this printer and its great. you can add texts boxes and put those perfectly where you want (once you set the picture so its set) and throw in another picture and really customize the 4 x 6.
    i printed a postcard with the writing already in it. just had to mail it no writing involved.
    you also need iwork 08 or 09. i have 08 but im sure 09 works. so if you save the pages doc as a template you can just drag in the image file into where the old image is and print that way.
    command p, choose borderless printing in the drop box and click print borderless. it should work.
    email me for a copy of my pages document. [email protected]
    i promise though, with canon or epson 4 x 6 print paper, its pretty amazing. almost comparable to my prints from my printer.
    or you can fit 12 3.5 x 2inch (business card sized) pics on an 8.5 x 11.
